Butler House & Garden

Butler House is a charming place to stay with a great location that makes exploring Kilkenny easy and convenient. The grounds are gorgeous and provide a peaceful setting to relax. Each morning we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast that was fresh and delicious. The combination of the beautiful surroundings, excellent location, and great food made our stay truly memorable.

Superior place to stay. The suite was exceptionally spacious and luxurious. It felt like a stay in a very special place. Staff was attentive. Private parking lot is a plus. I had a wonderful view of the castle! Breakfast was exceptional. Best in Ireland! Treat yourself and stay here.

Beautiful place. We stayed in one of the suites overlooking the garden and it was clean, cosy and warm. The staff couldn’t possibly do any more for you. The ladies at reception are so helpful and friendly. The breakfast was delicious and we couldn’t fit in anymore food if we tried. Location is great, everything is on the doorstep. Have already recommended to friends and family and will definitely be back again.

This was our first night’s stay after flying into Dublin. We rented a car and drove to Kilkenny straight away. Butler House is perfectly situated to take in the sights of historic Kilkenny. The Castle is just through the gate. It was nice to have the elevator to heft our luggage up two floors. Breakfast was excellent! The garden was gorgeous for an early morning walk. Beautiful historic building!

Lovely staff, especially Wendy, and a beautiful setting with a fabulous garden. The location is also brilliant, right in the heart of Kilkenny city.||I was a bit disappointed with the room which was at the back of the hotel overlooking a pub and an unattractive SIPTU building. It was also furnished in a modern and very functional style which completely lacked charm and didn't match the beautiful old building. Not really what I expected, or the escape into the past these type of hotels usually offer.||I would stay here again, but only if I got a room with a garden view.

We enjoyed two nights at the Butler House in a junior suite with a view of the castle. Everything was perfect! The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast was delicious, the room was clean and spacious, and the location was ideal. An easy walk to the castle, to restaurants, and shopping. It was our favorite stay during our two week trip. We would definitely choose the Butler House for our next visit to Kilkenny.

My wife and myself stayed here for one night. The location is great, most places are easily within walking distance from the hotel. Private parking for the car is nice as well. The rooms were nice and we had a large bathroom as well. Staff was always friendly and eager to help. Would highly recommend.

Amazing stay!! Totally recommend the Butler House! We stayed in the Archer Room on the top floor with a view of the garden. Room was spacious and the bed was so comfortable. Highlights of are stay were the incredible staff and the MOST amazing scones. We booked the cream tea package and did the cream tea every day of our stay. It was so delicious, we just could not get over the scones, best I have ever had!! This stay. Was right in Kilkenny city and so easy to walk outside the front door to all the wonderful shops, bars, restaurants and of course the Kilkenny castle and cathedrals. This was our first two nights of our Ireland trip and we are so happy this was our first stop. Perfect stay! Oh a breakfast was delicious as well. We got up at 8am and were able to grab a window seat which was so peaceful to look out over the garden. Stay here, you will be so happy you did!! Will definitely stay again if back in Kilkenny!
