BUTTER Hoboku Rakunojo

Amazing food. Ridiculous lines. We arrived 30 mins before opening and we were the last table to get in during the first round of seating. The restaurant/cafe is very small, so it doesn’t seat a lot of people. The food, or well the butter, is very very good. Order everything on the menu that catches your eye. We did, and we have no regrets.

I visited on a Friday around 6:00 PM and was pleasantly surprised that there was no queue. The service was excellent; the staff were very attentive and provided great recommendations. The highlight is definitely the pancakes. The texture is designed to perfectly complement their signature butter. My advice? Don't hold back—slather on as much butter as you can! It truly elevates the dish to another level. A very honest and high-quality experience.

Holy this place is unreal. BUTTER Hoboku Rakunojo is what happens when Hokkaido dairy becomes a religion. The butter and pancakes alone are life changing, rich, fluffy, indulgent, and somehow still light. The shake and hot chocolate are next level creamy, deep dairy flavour, and perfectly balanced sweetness. The sandwich with the award winning cheese absolute madness. Savory, melty, luxurious, and packed with that signature Hokkaido richness. What makes this spot special is that it brings Hokkaido dairy culture to the city, so locals can experience premium regional ingredients without having to travel to Hokkaido. It’s comforting, indulgent, and beautifully done. This isn’t just a café it’s a dairy experience. If you love butter, milk, cheese, and anything creamy, this place is non negotiable.

As the name suggests, their butter is really tasty, and the milk is super fresh and delicious. You can also see the butter-making process next to the café and buy milk, yogurt, or other dairy products. It’s a bit pricey, but with this kind of taste, it’s totally worth it. There’s usually a bit of a queue since the dine-in area is small and not ideal for big groups. If you have leftover butter, you can take it home — they’ll even give you a bag with an ice pack inside. Very recommended!

You have to wait in line forever for this place... We waited around an hour and half for a table for two. The butter and pancakes were delicious, but they just weren't worth the long wait. 🥹 Btw, you can bring the butter home if you didn’t finish the whole of it!! パンケーキは美味いです😻

I mean I wouldn’t recommend, especially with the long line of 30-60 min. Pancakes are very average. The full stick of butter is a nice touch and the milk is delicious. Other then than that not sure I would return.

This place is kind of overhyped. Not idea why it is so viral. I just finished my run at the imperial palace and decided to try it out since it has some good reviews. I was certainly expecting better quality, flavor, and less food waste + I paid over 30 bucks for just me, crazy. will not be returning nor recommending.

Waste of time. I waited in line for almost 1 hour. Getting to observe how the staffs work. There are 2 persons in the kitchen, 3 waiter/waitresses for 28 seats and more than 30 people in line. I saw many available seats but they won’t let you get in and be seated. Frustrating and wondering why. There is an English rules that says after you get the seat, you have to wait 90 more for the food. No matter how good the butter, the pancake, and the fondue were, there is no such thing that would compensate this level of poor management. The worst I’ve ever experience not even in Tokyo, but the whole world I’ve been to. So people, take my advice and stay away from this place.
