Really enjoyed the food as it all tasted very fresh. Great service by our server, Charlie. We had the Sheep Dip app (forgot to get a pic) but it was so good. I had the Cubano sandwich with the hand cut garlic fries. We’re originally from Tampa FL area which has a large Cuban presence, so we grew up eating a lot of good Cuban sandwiches. Was pleasantly surprised to get a very tasty sandwich out west & even on real Cuban bread (yes, it makes a difference). My hubby really enjoyed his Flat Iron sandwich. The other couple we were with raved about the French Onion soup and the BWOM burger. Only downside was it was extremely loud in there with lots of people. Very difficult to hold a decent conversation if you weren’t nearly screaming at each other. Also, they only have maybe 2 regular tables. All others are high tops. We would definitely recommend this place and would eat here again.

Google
We fully understand that sometimes it takes a while to get your order. But when it takes almost 35 minutes after your placed your cocktail order just to get your cocktail… And the place was not busy….. That’s a bit much. We canceled our lunch order and went somewhere else where we were served more timely.

Google
Great food! beyond expectations, Charlie was our server & his service was phenomenal! Would highly recommend this quaint little place! It is very loud but it is manageable!

This place did not feel welcoming at all. Stares when we walked in. Was greeted with a smile but she then walked over and started whispering to someone else. Not sure what was said but it seemed weird. Was seated pretty quickly but provided with filthy silverware and the napkins were nasty with food. Got the server's attention and pointed out the nastiness of the napkins. She simply picked them up and said she would get some more. Brought back another set which was also filthy. No apology or anything. I was ready to leave but my girl suggested we stay. Food came out quickly and was actually very good. Had no complaints about the food at all. Not sure I'll recommend this place. ***Update***. In response to this rude a55 owner. I know where I was and what I had to eat. And your filthy napkins. I leave a review where I want to and how I want to based on my experience. Clean your restaurant instead of making of excuses. The image is of the bywom burger.

Google
We loved our experience here! We have been traveling for our 3 year anniversary and this was our favorite stop. We had lunch. Our view was spectacular. I regret that I did not get a photo of our food. We will definitely stop by here again on our next trip!

Google
Shared a great meal and cocktails with some friends. Service was really good too. Got the mussels, edamame, ByWOM burger and fries - all delicious.

Google
This is a gem of a more local place near the big sky town center. It was packed and the food was outstanding. We are at the bar - bar tender was great. We shared the tuna appetizer, the chili wings and a burger. All were a home run.

Google
Dirtbag daze is crazy good!!! I love the entire vibe this is the local spot to go to. The whole staff was so amazing especially the bartender Dave. I love you.

Yelp
One extra star because the person that took our order was very nice given that it was over the holidays. Aside from that however the sandwich we tried was unfortunately ghastly. We being vegan had almost no options locally being on a road trip and very hungry. So we ordered a modified smoked tofu sandwich minus the feta and aioli. Even with the tofu and grilled onions (what tiny bit there was) it was extemely dry. The fries on the side tasted cold and stale as well. The worst part of all by far though was the smoked tofu. Im not sure how exactly they add the smokey flavor but my guess is either with some kind of fake liquid smoke or somehow a gas based burner because it tastes like propane/gas. The flavor was disgusting and extremely overpowering. Needless to say i wish i had just stayed hungry. Waste of money and took forever for the flavor to leave my mouth. Avoid at all costs.

Yelp
Good spot to stop by before or after boarding for a warm meal. I ordered a mint tea that was lacking mint with the flavor, I wouldn't order that particular one again. I was not offered honey or any sweetener. Service was so-so, same with the food. I did like that they had vegan and vegetarian options. If you order fries, ask for them well done. Hubs ordered the burger that he enjoyed. We ordered one of their chocolate chip homemade cookies to go, that he said tasted like a big chips ahoy. I would be back again, just asking for some things I might need to flavor my food the way I like it. Ambiance is very casual

Yelp
The food was ok. I got the burger wasn't the best burger but also wasn't terrible. I don't think it is the best burger in big sky. Which they say they are. The service from our server was good. She was very kind and friendly. But when we walked in we were greeted by a total jerk. It was if he didn't want us there and was rude to us every time he came to our table to drop off either a drink or an appetizer. Which completely ruined our experience and then later heard from people how they are know for being rude.

Yelp
Burgers were amazing! Services was great. We are so glad we fount this spot. It is hidden but worth looking for it. So many great choices.

Yelp
Food was all pretty good but serving sizes were small Definitely a better lunch spot than dinner spot but they have a solid drink selection too Servers were friendly but our table was very dirty and sticky

Yelp
We were unfortunately disappointed with our meal for WOM. We have visited in the past and were surprised by the shift in food quality. *we did order take-out so this may have influenced our experience. We did enjoy the Serrano lime chicken wings. They were very crispy and tasted great. Would recommend this if you do visit By WOM. The Tuna Katsu was overpowered by the wasabi sauce and the tuna didn't taste very fresh. We also got two orders of the hood club panini. The chipotle aioli on the panini was good but overall was not a good panini. Every bite was majority bread; there were about 2 small pieces of bacon and 2 tomatoes. The fries also seemed over cooked. The biggest disappointment was the calamari. We were super excited to try this but were shocked by the appearance. It looked undercooked and under breaded. We decided to not even eat it.

Yelp
Always so damn good! Their French onion soup is so flavorful and comforting. I've dined in, taken out, and also enjoyed their BYWOM Burger at Music in the mountains when the restaurant goes Mobil. The staff is so friendly and service is prompt. I would definitely recommend if you want a solid burger and a cute place to chill and enjoy.

Yelp
This place was great! We needed to find a light lunch in Big Sky and this place hit the spot. The salads were pretty good, and my son said their steak sandwich was terrific. But, the real standout was the French Onion Soup. The cheese was crusty and they used croutons instead of giant pieces of bread - much better and easier to eat. It had a good vibe as well - very hip. Definitely a good find. It can be hard to find the entrance, though - it's inside what looks like an office building door.

Yelp
Awesome food, very friendly staff and the ambience is great. Menu is unique compared to a set cuisine restaurant
google avatar

Yelp
Favorite burger in Big Sky hands down (and special saucy)! So many other great dishes on the menu too. Sometimes the wait can be alittle long but always worth it.

Yelp
Found this place for a quick lunch on the way out of town - really just looking for something simple and it seemed to fit the bill. No frills signage makes it a little difficult to find, but the yelp directions are spot in - just look for the letters on the window and work your way to the back. I mean, it IS by word of mouth so...Small space, can get a little crowded, but the waitress was quick and efficient with ordering and food was out in a reasonable timeframe. Had the BLT Panini - tasty! Hubby and kids enjoyed burgers; fries for all were delicious and crispy. No complaints here

Yelp
Our group came here for lunch shortly after getting into Big Sky. Service was spotty for not being a large restaurant. I believe they only had one waiter for the entire place. They ended up forgetting two entrees so two people in our group didn't get their food till almost an hour after everyone else. The food was overall meh. You can't mess up edamame. The calamari was the soggiest I have ever had. No crunch at all. Chicken wings had good flavor but also no crispiness. The sheep dip was OK. The panini with chicken was the driest sandwich I've had in a while. The final insult: I really think I had the worst poke bowl ever. I know I can't compare it to poke bowls I had in Hawaii but I've had better poke bowls in my own landlocked city of Atlanta. It was drenched in sauce and yet the tuna was bland. The only standout was the burger which was juicy and actually quite good. Overall, I hope there's better restaurants in the area.

Yelp
Not the friendliest service. But the place is cute and the food was amazing. My husband and I both ordered burgers and a side salad. Generous portions and their secret sauce is spicy and so good! Worked for me even without the bun!
google avatar

Rich G.

Yelp
fun little spot about 15 mins from the slopes. Limited wine menu. They didn't have either of our first two choices. Good burgers and salads. Skip the poutine.
google avatar

Amber J.

Yelp
You've heard about it... NOW GO! It's delicious! And when they say "best burger in Big Sky," they mean it folks. I think I've had all the burgers here, and baby this one is mouth watering. So juicy & delicious. For apps, try the Sheep Dip - woooooo it's good! And the heavy pours on the drinks make this girl very happy. Smile at the staff & say "thank you" while you're there. They're a friendly, hard workin' group & we're thankful for that.

Yelp
The food, service, and customer service was wonderful. Came to try this place out and we were not disappointed. Great cozy vibes and great beer Definitely coming back next time we come out from Vegas
google avatar

Randee R.

Yelp
We've been to Salem, OR twice now traveling from the East Coast. We made sure to check out WOM both times - The food is GREAT (and a ton of it) and the service is super friendly. Check this place out - but park across the street by the church (super small lot).

Yelp
"Locals" joint! Excellent mixed drinks that fo nicely with a wide variety of interesting meals. Fun vibe!

Yelp
This place was really good! I had the burger and it was amazing. The only complaint I have was that it was really cold in there so be sure to bring a big jacket or coat.

Yelp
This was an amazing experience for lunch with a very unique menu as compared to the rest Of town. Husband and I had the poutine fries With blue cheese and mushroom gravy, tortilla soup (unlike any I've had in life) and a chick, bacon jam, aioli sandwich on Cuban bread. The ambiance is so cute and good for really any time of day or occasion and of course had an amazing view. I highly recommend wether it's a business lunch wearing, girl time, beer with a buddy, or mid day or nighttime date.

Yelp
Great food off the main drag. Lamb dish is a flavor medley explosion!!! Drinks are well prepared. Pour could be a bit more generous on the wine.

Yelp
Family was on spring break in Big Sky, we had a party of 8 and they were happy to accommodate during dinner time. Staff, food, and beer selection was fantastic! Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Started out with pretty high expectations of this place. We came in on a Wednesday night around 6 pm. We had called ahead and were told it was a 20-25 minute wait for 7 people, but that they were filling up. We arrived about 8 minutes later and put our names down -- also stated that if it was quicker, we'd be willing to split our party to get seated faster. Were told it would be 30-40 minutes for a table and it wouldn't be faster to split. The host offered to get us drinks from the bar while we waited which was nice. There was a party of 5 ahead of us that got seated about 20-25 minutes after we came in. Fast forward to around 7:15 pm and we still hadn't been seated -- however we watched the host sit several 3, 2, and another 5 top before us (that came in and checked in after us). We even overheard another waitress discussing with the host to push a 2 top together with a 5 to seat us, but that never happened. Ultimately, very disappointed in the management of tables and we left to try to find food someplace else.

Yelp
I had really hoped for better at this place bc I had wanted to try it for 3 trips to big sky. Finally made it and was just disappointed. The sandwiches / paninis are good but not very filling. We waited a really long time to get simple sandwiches and fries that just did not hit the mark.
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
It feels like there's a lot of goat cheese on this menu. I had the steak sandwich. It was fine after scraping off some of the goat cheese. Wife had the tuna roll appraiser. She said it was alright. The pacific salad was good and fries were fresh. A little pricey but I think that's just the area

Sue M.

Yelp
Great cabana sandwich to share with . Great service and good assortment of beers and wines of the day
google avatar

DK N.

Yelp
The way to the actual place is through the back door and on your way out there are trays of chili just chilling . I believe there were more staff members than guests, yet our waitress was impatient and wasn't happy about the fact that we or anyone at this point, we're there. The drinks are expensive for the place, located in some residential development, and the amount of food for the price is just ridiculous. Way too expensive for the lunch alternative, if you don't want to dine at the ski resort ones.

Yelp
Fun addition to the Big Sky area. French onion soup was the highlight. Cute and comfortable atmosphere. Definitely recommend.

Shellie G.

Yelp
Slow service for lunch. Food was okay Bland burgers and fries. Had burgers at another spot last week and pretty good but this one was not that great. Also small plates but pricey. Waitress disappeared for a while maybe cooking being that the food coming out was pretty slow. Maybe 20 people eating in the entire place so not busy . Have patience and order food and drink asap.

Chi Chi F.

Yelp
Great food and service. A hidden gem in Big Sky. We dined there for lunch and were not disappointed. We will definitely return to try more menu items.

Yelp
The burger was amazing!! Had to wait a little while to get our food but was great when we finally got it!

Yelp
Amazing food, great service, fun selection of local beers. A great place to visit for good, easy, healthy food while visiting Big Sky. I highly recommend By Word of Mouth!

Yelp
Phenomenal. Over the past two years I've been in Big Sky, this restaurant has (and most likely always be) been my absolute favorite! From the food & people to the inviting ambiance this place is it. If you're looking for a slam dunk lunch, get the burger. No questions asked. However, everything else I've tried on the menu has been nothing short of phenomenal.

Yelp
Tried a couple different appetizers as a meal: calamari, wings, French onion soup, and poutine. It was cool to see gluten free options that still tasted great for people who never really eat gluten free. All of it was good and filling together for two people, though a bit pricey for portions that were a little small. Everything had a nice sauce or gravy on it but there wasn't much of it. Our waitress was great and super attentive.

Yelp
After checking Yelp for a rating we settled on lunch at By Word of Mouth. Big mistake. At first Jami L. (at least that was the name on the receipt) was curt and unwelcoming. As pleasant as a mafia funeral. I thought "well, everyone can have a bad day". As the stay continued it became obvious she hated her job and every day was a bad day. Now to the food- the club and cubano sandwiches were decent, sweet calamari was mediocre, soba noodles weren't as good as store bought add water noodles, and the topper was the ahi poke bowl. I know, a poke bowl in Big Sky Montana? Live and learn. It was as salty as that big lake in Utah- inedible. Gave my family bites just to make them as unhappy as I was and to watch their faces scrunch up. And it was supposed to have sweet chili and sweet soy. Maybe 1.5 ounces of ahi. Prices- obnoxious. Soba with tofu- 22, poki 20- sandwich 14.

Lee Ann B.

Yelp
Delicious food and cocktails. One of the hosts/servers had a very crummy attitude, but the waitstaff, bartender and everyone else made up for it! French onion soup was delicious and it was one of the best burgers we've had in a while!
google avatar

Kino M.

Yelp
Had the burger by wom and fry's with slaw. Excellent taste and served hot. Excellent server as well. Small and quant restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
It's worth coming to, I couldn't eat the village food every night. The drink specials were fantastic. We had a table for 5 and av reservation which is really required because they are pretty small and the wait staff is pretty chalked keeping up but typical of a vacation town. Meals are locally sourced and carefully prepared with very original combinations and everything is super fresh. I would recommend BY WOM to anyone coming to BS
google avatar

Archana W.

Yelp
Amazing local eatery! Kids raved about the burgers - kid size (3oz beef patty) and the BYWOM burger. The chopped lamb is like a lamb meatloaf- nicely seasoned. The smoked tofu panini was also delicious, but a little overstuffed for my taste. Waitstaff was kind and attentive.

Rachelle P.

Yelp
Enjoyed their burger greatly. There chicken wings were so good, but still cold. Server was kind and enjoyed my time.
google avatar

Yelp
We've been wanting to try this spot for awhile, it has a good reputation among locals and offers nice bistro fare in a laid back setting. Highlight was the service, the mother disgusted team is awesome and everyone is working together and take pride in the business. It's located in the older strip mall part of town and next to a bar that doesn't really fit the vibe. Food was just OK - poke bowl was over marinated in soy sauce and the kids noodles was a half bowl of butter once the noodles were consumed. I also wished that the kids menu had a non-carb option for main or side (was all pasta, fries, grilled cheese - no veggies in any of the options). I do appreciate that they are open right now - it may make sense to pare back the menu to focus on some specialties as it's possible our experience was due to a staff shortage. Will try again in the future.

Dan W.

Yelp
Walked in and was immediately yelled at by waitress, super rude over a basic request of ' 3 for lunch please'. Didn't try food, not wprth the poor attitude. Food looked mediocre at best too.

Yelp
Ok, I should preface this review by saying we were vacationing in Big Sky from Los Angeles with a family group of 17. And I did not care for any food that much while here. I felt most of the food in the town was a little bland and way over priced. Not to mention, all the restaurants closed super early and it was challenging to have dinner without going super early. This place looks more like a hole in the wall bar with some dining tables spread throughout. It did not present well when I walked in, having to navigate the oddly placed bar and cramped tables, into the "back room" which had "curtains" over the windows that were actually sheets and looked like something I would've done to my windows when I lived in my fraternity house in college. However, it was repeatedly recommended when asked for good food in the area. It doesn't surprise me, since the bar is not set very high in Big Sky, Montana. Nonetheless, the food was ok, nothing special. I had the trout. Don't ask me why; I guess I was trying to be healthy. Same for the drinks but they were slightly better than adequate. Look, we all had a good time because our family was together but if I were near home, I would never come back here. Plus, the bathrooms were less than clean and you had to walk through what seemed like an alley to get there. Again, this place seemed like a dive bar that served food. Our waiter tried to accommodate us the best he could, but you could tell he had never had a party this big before. And when the check came, I was even more annoyed because everything was overpriced. Big Sky is a beautiful place, but the cuisine as a whole needs improvement.

Yelp
Awesome everything! From the pineapple martini to the burger to the fries and to the service! Absolutely delish!!!

Jeannie E.

Yelp
My friend and I found this place open late, so we gave it a try. Nice vibe, felt like the locals enjoyed it. My rainbow trout was cooked perfectly. I would have given it a 5 star if the waitress had been friendly. She just seemed to be annoyed that we were there.

Louise L.

Yelp
After an 8 mile hike and before I left Big Sky, I wanted great food off the strip and saw this gem ystdy. BYWOM did not disappoint! I opted for a basil theme - basil martini with basil shrimp risotto. Both so flavorful and delicious! Topped it off with the decadent chocolate mud pie & coffee ice cream. All for a very reasonable price plus a mountain view...an added bonus! The staff were friendly, attentive, played decent music -- it was obvious locals hang out here. I will def come back when I return to Big Sky!

James T.

Yelp
Fantastic place but only open on weekdays. Great drink selection and good eats. Worth wait

Erika S.

Yelp
Everything we ordered here was fantastic! One of the tastiest, juiciest hamburgers I've ever had. The kid said the fries were the best also, and the side salad and coleslaw that we got with our burgers were delicious. Save room for dessert- the mocha cake and creme brûlée were amazing. We will definitely eat here again the next time we visit Big Sky!

DoeLeen R.

Yelp
Great small town atmosphere and the food was brilliant. It is located in an off the track location - but worth going. Fun ambiance and again, the food is tremendous.
