On the Grid : Papa Bear

"Specialising in beautifully restored wooden furniture pieces, this is the place to come to for a solid vintage dining table or wooden bureau dating from the 50s. And among the elegantly functional, Papa Bear owner, Aniko has a great eye for humour with pop coloured leather corner sofas in orange and pistachio (while stocks last of course!). The store also hosts an incredible range of soft furnishings from local Peckham artists including knitted sofa throws from Sophie Home, ceramics from Pen & Gravy and screen printed cushion from The Pattern Guild.http://www.papabearlondon.com/" - Studio A4 E+F

We’re lucky to have a zero waste shop that is so attentively cared for, and stocked with ethically made products. It makes shopping with a low carbon footprint easier - the products in the shop takes a lot of that guess work out for you. Locally sourced, B Corp certified, etc. Great selection of dried rices and grains, seeds and spices, as well as personal hygiene and washing up products. They also do olive oil, soy sauce and syrup refills, which are great… just refill your old bottle! What a concept.

Lucky to be a local to this amazing zero waste store with a surprisingly large selection. They have all the dry goods essentials you'd need, including a complete range of spices and lots of treats that are too tempting not too stock up on. Great concept, friendly customer service and reasonably priced. I'm a fan.

So lucky to have BYO nearby! They stock a great variety of staples (and treats!), and the staff are super friendly. They also allow dogs, which makes it even more convenient to stop in when passing by! What would we do without you, BYO?!

Our great little local zero waste grocery shop just got much bigger and better! The new shop is much larger and has a far wider product range. The sister shop at the original premises a few doors away now sells an increased selection of household and cleaning products as well. Happy customer :)

Having BYO on my doorstep has made my zero waste journey easier and more complete. The shops are great and stock a wide variety of package-free options. There's always something new I can try and helpful ideas on social media to push me to make more changes and swaps. I really love BYO! Thank you for everything you do! xx

Usually manage to find everything I need here, plus it's right next to butchers, a bakers, a fish mongers and a lovely green-groceries. All in all the perfect place to go do a weekly shop. The staff in BYO are friendly and helpful. Most of the time I feel covid-safe shopping here; staff wear masks, provide hand sanitiser and make sure the right amount of people are in the shop -- the rest just depends on the behaviour of the other customers in the store as it is a small place.

Best zero waste shop I have ever been too! The amount of products in this little shop is unbelievable. Everything is nicely organised, labeled and priced, so there is no awkward moments when you have to ask for a price for 10 items in a row. Covid wise - everyone wears masks, only 3 people allowed (which pandemic aside feels like a good idea anyway since the shop is quite small + there is no sense of rush due to somebody hanging over your head), sanitizers everywhere and they are collecting dirty scoops after each customer to wash them. Highly recommended!
