C1 Espresso in Christchurch is not your average café — it’s a full-on experience. Known for its creativity and quirkiness, this café stands out with its pneumatic tube delivery system, which shoots sliders and curly fries through clear overhead pipes straight to your table. It’s like being in a Willy Wonka coffee factory, and kids (and adults) absolutely love it. The food is solid, with generous portions and a menu that mixes café classics with fun twists. Their curly fries, served in a retro-style container, are golden and crispy, and pair perfectly with their gourmet burgers or sliders. Coffee is strong, smooth, and roasted in-house — perfect for the Christchurch caffeine connoisseur. The vibe is relaxed yet buzzing, with a mix of locals and tourists soaking in the industrial-meets-steampunk décor. The staff are usually friendly and upbeat, even when it’s busy. There’s plenty of space, and the high ceilings make it feel open and airy. All in all, C1 is one of those must-visit spots in Christchurch — not just for the coffee, but for the experience. Whether you’re there for brunch, coffee, or just to see fries fly through the air, it’s a unique, fun café that delivers on both taste and atmosphere.

This place was buzzy for the kids. Was very busy when we got there, but it turned out well and shared a table with another family, which was cool. The tubes were the highlight for sure. The food was great, cute and super worth the hype. Staff were also spot on, kids loved it, I loved - can't say more than that! 😊

It was an impressive cafe, very kid-friendly which is great for parents, but maybe not ideal for those without kids. The table I sat at was too close to the toy machine, which sometimes made it hard to have a conversation. Also, the table was sticky, and I noticed some fries inside the tube, which made me a bit concerned about cleanliness. But they're open until late so it’s good to have a chat before or after dinner.

Such a cool and interesting cafe. There is lots of interactive things to do. The food itself was good and reasonably priced. I would say it’s a bit of a small portion but apart from that it was great.

Quite a few vegan options. They are all really good. Some food is delivered in the tube system which makes this place a destination if you are visiting christchurch. Price is fair. This place can get quite busy lunchtime weekends. Worth a visit.

Extremely yummy wholesome breakfasts that taste delicious! We have so far had omelettes & eggs Benedict all served with fresh multigrain buttered bread. Also have tried the various lattes on offer - beetroot, chai, turmeric, charcoal, hemp & matcha - all taste Very good. Plenty of other coffee, tea & different potions on offer. Relaxed chill atmosphere with plenty of comfortable seating. Looking forward to trying more of the breakfasts on offer & would definitely recommend C1.

Amazing atmosphere, a great selection of meals and cabinet food. The unique delivery of certain meals by the tube (used when the place was a post office/bank) is fun to watch. A good selection of kids meals too.

Steam-punk meets retro futuristic glam? Love it. Food's great.. service is good... Pneumatic tubes going all over the place to deliver food... And patrons enjoying some of the best coffee in the city. Walking distance from most places around Christchurch CBD. Worth a visit for the coffee alone. Two thumbs up!!
