Google
i had a really amazing experience here. i was struggling to find a restaurant in ravenna that offered both fair prices and good quality, but this place turned out to be a great choice. the servers were very kind, and the restaurant itself is beautiful, with different areas all nicely decorated. the only downside was the lack of air conditioning, which made the atmosphere a bit hard to enjoy at times. the pasta and the cassone were both excellent, and the grilled vegetables were generous and high quality. the dessert options looked fantastic too, but it was simply too hot to enjoy one this time.

We are in Ravenna for one night, and we chose Ca De Ven for our evening meal. We walked in without a reservation, and my Italian is limited, so I was trepidatious for the challenges we might face. I needed not worry, for the lady at the front desk was very nice to us and though the place was packed, we were seated within two minutes. Our waiter was a really cool guy probably in his 20s or 30s, and his demeanor and service were excellent. We had a delicious grilled piadina with mozz and tomato as our appetizer. It was like $6 and would have made a tasty lunch on its own. My entree was the tortelli (Americans: good-sized tortellini) alla ragu. Here, as it likely is in much of northern Italy, “ragu” means Bolognese sauce. And let me tell you, the Bolognese at Ca de Ven was just magnificent — the slow cooking of the meat just made it so tender. I am addicted to Parmigiano, but frankly this did not need it. My GF had the vitello (veal strip steak) with melt-in-your-mouth roasted potatoes and a small salad. That was a great plate! She added a side of gratinated eggplant, zucchini, and tomato which was… incredible. Alas, her eyes were bigger than her stomach, so we’ll be finishing her meal for lunch tomorrow. lol My only regret is that i could not tip my waiter — cash tips only, and i still have not drawn euros from an ATM. Next time, my man. Next time. Go to Ca de Ven when you’re in Ravenna. Tell them I sent you.

Wonderful spot, beautiful food and very friendly, helpful waiting staff. Lovely atmosphere- seems to be old wine merchant's - with a lot of the paraphernalia still there. We sat at long tables refectory style, we had not booked, but I believe there were individual tables available also. The food was excellent.

April 2025.. it's simply the best restaurant in town...no doubts. Service great, even if you are alone. I took the " simple" chicken and rabbit. Not to much. But just great and enough for me. The wine by the glass. Really great. And very nice priced . Busy but no rush to get me out. Again.. if you are in Ravenna.. you must !! Get to this place Great restaurant. Very nice location. Great value and an very interesting menu. Nice wine selection. The woman at the checkout probably had a bad day. But for the rest all are very friendly. Ravenna is just a very beautiful place to be an all very friendly to the tourists.. a must do..

Google
Absolutely the best restaurant in Ravenna Family owned with ladies exceeding our service quality expected levels. Food was exceptional. Wine d's Vinci bottle of Red was a great accompaniment .lunch time buzz with almost 50 patrons. We were greeted by the matriarch and all the staff provided good service.

Google
Beautiful and traditional location in the heart of Ravenna. I was very pleased with the service and wine selection. However we felt that the food was too salty. We usually do not mind salt, however the sauces of the pasta were too salty. Prices are highly affordable and menu is varied.

Google
A delicious traditional local restaurant. Cappelletti tasted was rich in flavour of meat source and the dumpling wrappers were so thick but chewy. Another dish we ordered is was chosen from today's proposals menu-Buffalo mozzarella cheese, Cantabrian anchovies, tomatoes in oil. I was shocked when it was served. It is presented directly in cans and tastes very salty. If you prefer light food, I do not recommend ordering this dish😆; I recommend drinking white wine. There is no coperto fee but you can order piadina as meal bread. There are beautiful paintings on the ceiling and the dining atmosphere is spacious and cheerful.

Google
Ca’ de Vèn was a dream- we only had one day in Ravenna, and wanted to have a proper lunch. The flavours were so simple and so perfectly done, the food was unbelievably fresh, the atmosphere was beautiful, and we both walked away from our lunch with smiles and full stomachs.

Yelp
I finally made it to Ca' de' Ven, a beloved restaurant in Ravenna, after hearing about it for so many years. This beautiful establishment, with frescoes adorning the ceiling, is located in the heart of Ravenna's historical city center and just steps away from Dante's Tomb/Basilica di San Francesco. It features traditional Emilia-Romagna cuisine and a warm, familial atmosphere throughout -- there's also a huge wine selection with tons of bottles along the walls of the restaurant. Our group ordered traditional specialties of the region to share, including the piadina (flatbread), affettati (cold-cut meats), squacquerone (so creamy and decadent!), caramelized figs, and Sangiovese wine -- everything was delicious, and the warm piadina paired so well with the meats, cheese, and figs. For my main dish, I ordered the tagliata di manzo, which was cooked and seasoned very well -- the beef was so juicy! Ending the meal with some refreshing mandarin sorbetto and an espresso was the perfect conclusion to a fun evening with friends. Looking forward to the next time I can come back here!

Yelp
This is a large, bustling restaurant and bar in a great location in Ravenna, in the historic center. Menu offered a variety of intriguing options including seasonal specials and dishes that made it clear we were in Emilia Romagna. Since there were three of us we were able to sample a variety of dishes and all were very good to exceptional. To start I had the radicchio salad with crispy bacon, companions had the soft cheese budino with crispy parma ham in wine cream, and the parma ham and parmesan cheese salad. Both the salads were so huge (and wonderfully fresh tasting) they could have been a "light" lunch all on their own! The budino was beautiful and tasty as well. It was hard not to keep munching on the warm piadina bread served to the table as well, but we had to save room for our mains. I absolutely adore venison and can't resist ordering it when I see it on a menu. Here they had it in a stew with polenta. Delicious, much like the way I prepare it at home slow-cooked in wine with fresh herbs like rosemary. One companion, after a week of heavy pasta and rice dishes felt drawn to the grilled chicken. As simple as that sounds, it was terrific. I'd love a place back home that made such a flavorful grilled chicken dish. Third main course was the winner of the day, though - the risotto with sausage and radicchio. Perfectly cooked risotto (according to my native Italian dining companion) and rich with autumn flavors. Needless to say, no room was left for dessert. I would definitely come back here and recommend this restaurant as a great place to sample some of the cuisine of this region of Italy. It's not an intimate or romantic choice, but good for a group, especially if you want to sample a variety of dishes.

Yelp
Lovely place. We already had lunch, so we just enjoyed some good wine, but we will have to be back for the food!

Yelp
This is a beautiful place to have a meal in Ravenna. Really special, BUT... Super touristy, if I'm honest. They have all the basic local items on the menu, and while good... Mostly unremarkable. But if you ARE a tourist, you'll think it's an incredibly pretty restaurant and you'll enjoy a fine meal of pasta con ragu or whatever you decide to order. If you're a diehard foodie, try somewhere else.

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and was very impressed with the interior. This was our first visit to Ravenna and thankful we found this restaurant. It is a local hangout before noon in bar area and shortly thereafter while we were there. We enjoyed a glass of wine prior to being seated. We started with the Rosemary Piadina bread, absolutely delicious (must try - special to this region)! We did have to flag down our waiter a few times; however, very helpful and courteous! My husband had the Taleggio pasta with meat sauce while I enjoyed the fresh caught clams in a pepper, parsley broth - yes, I just wanted to drink the broth! Tip: if we could have done one thing differently we wished we would have ordered the charcuterie as we watched from our table the locals ordering, wow looked incredible!

Yelp
We decided to eat at Ca' de Ven for lunch and had the following: - Prosciutto di Parma with Granda and Balsmic vinegar in a salad - Grilled Vegetables - Mushrooms, tomatoes, zucchini, endive, eggplant / Verdure grigliate e crudo - Grilled Octopus with Fava bean puree / Polipo grigliato - Cappelleti with Ragu / Cappelletti al ragu This restaurant has a beautiful and rustic charm just like the city of Ravenna. The food was fabulous. Ravenna was a quieter town than most any of the cities that we visited in Italy and the experience was most memorable.

Yelp
Touristy (busloads of tourists are dropped here), loud, OKish food. No options for vegetarians. Not ONE.

Yelp
Nice place. Staff is helpful. Did not have a reservation showed up right when they open and they were helpful enough to seat us right away. Very good food too. Tried local type dishes and prosciutto balsamic salad. Structure itself is quite nice with high ceilings and decorations.

Yelp
Excellent meal in a beautiful setting... We had an excellent meal here. The menu is extensive, so there is something for everyone. Everyone was welcoming, friendly and the service was fantastic. Most important, the food was EXCELLENT! They were very accommodating of our family members who have dietary restrictions (homemade gluten-free pasta and piadine!!!!)

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant! !! High ceilings with frescoes. Lovely. We started with cheeses, salamis, prosciutto and mortadella. The soft, fresh, cheese was delicious. Pandini was the bread. Different and good. We went on to papardell pasta. Very nice and eggplant parmesan which was superb. Wines were to die for Service was excellent.

Yelp
Expensive for the quality of food (which is just okay). The hostess did seat me but it was clear she wasn't happy to have me as a tourist guest, and I can order food in Italian, but apparently I was still annoying to her. The inside of the restaurant was nice and the location is good, but I would definitely not go back.

Yelp
Wandering aimlessly through Ravenna, we asked after a lunch spot when we stopped for a coffee break, and this was a few doors down. I was struck by how large and...stylized? the dining room was, and how frantic the atmosphere seemed. Seemed so contrary to stereotypical Italian dining, but we'd grown hungry, and how bad could it be? We could feel spunk in the air, after all....maybe they do it differently in the city....? The food was pretty decent. I might just say A-OK, based on my offerings. But my friends, who somehow manage to have the best instincts when it comes to these things, went with the tasting menu. I thought it'd be the tourist-trappingest thing to select, but each course (and its accompanying wine) were pretty tasty (they're good people and they share tastes...partly, I assume, so we'll appreciate their ordering excellence.... ;) If you've got the skinny on a more "authentic" spot in Ravenna, then by all means go there instead. If you're like us, hungrily scanning Yelp to see what looks good nearby, you've found it. (And don't be afraid to go for the tasting menu.)

Yelp
Nice place. Mainly for tourists. High cost for very basic local food. Meaning that you pay for the place not really for the food which any trattoria around will serve better at half cost

Yelp
Sitting here right now , wonderful food and ambience. As the previous reviewer has stated high ceilings and frescos. My take on it is a friendly beer hall type atmosphere. Noisy , very authentic and all round excellent. All good until the bill lands..

Yelp
Directed here by locals and recommended to try Ravenna specialties, piadina (flat bread) with salami and other meats and the capaletti al ragu (meat sauce). The capaletti is a cheese filled pasta. A convivial atmosphere. Ravenna is beautiful and this restaurant represents well.
