We stayed here at the beginning of our trip before we took a cruise. Three days here was not enough and I can't wait to come back and stay longer.
We rented a room, but ended up getting an apartment. We expect changes when traveling, so we just went with the flow and was extremely happy with our outcome. The location is very convenient to public transportation, walking distance to all the shops and restaurants, but tucked into a quite corner where there is no noise at night and very peaceful.
I recommend that you pack very light when traveling here. All streets are cobblestone and you cross a lot of bridges with stairs, so it's a struggle transporting luggage even if you have good rollers on them. Although you can hire luggage transporters in the street as well for $30 or so.
The continental breakfast was really nice with an egg, croissants, cheese and espresso.
Keep in mind that these buildings were constructed hundreds of years ago, way before modern plumbing and elevators, so bathrooms are smaller than American standards and a lot of times there's no elevators, which is another good reason to pack light.
I loved the rustic charm of this place, and can not wait to return! So many wonderful memories.
