I have heard nothing but AMAZING things about this place, so we finally decided to try it out for dinner tonight. All I can say is, I wish we had tried it out sooner!
The place was moderately busy when we arrived. Although it is small inside, I felt there was ample seating around, and my husband and I didn't have any issues finding two seats in the back at 6 PM. After much deliberation, I decided to go with the chicken parm sandwich. This included a breaded chicken thigh, marinara, roasted garlic bread, sharp provolone cheese, and basil aioli. I also went with a side order of chips (which comes with the sandwich), and an order of onion rings. After placing our orders, we were told it would be about a 25 minute wait due to how busy they were. We were fine with that, and I did appreciate the heads up!
Once we paid, we made our way to the back of the restaurant, which serves beer from Mad Chef Brewing Company. If you are familiar with Lancaster breweries, their beer is some of the best and most popular around. I was so excited to grab a glass of their new fruited wheat beer to go with my meal!
Like clockwork, our order was called at 25 minutes to be picked up at the counter. Upon seeing my chicken parm sandwich, I was speechless. It looked (and smelled) beyond delicious. I had a mild panic attack - I am not an aioli fan, and I forgot to ask for the Basil aioli on the side. However, it was so light and delicious and complimented the sandwich so wonderfully, I didn't mind it one bit. The chicken was huge and so tender. The marinara had an amazing flavor and kick to it, and the bun was amazing as well. All of the flavors were so complimentary of each other and just downright delicious. My husband said his burger was probably the best he has ever had. I had heard that many people say the same about the burgers, so I do believe him! The onion rings, while mildly greasy, were still huge, delicious and perfectly crisp and flavored.
If you are in the Lancaster area looking for exceptional quality sandwiches/burgers, Cabalar needs to be on your go-to list!
