Cabana On the River

Decided to stop by this restaurant for lunch today, and it didn't disappoint me on all levels. Nice menu,friendly staff,great senic views on the Ohio river, and I chose the footlong Met and fries, which was grilled perfectly and had that awesome snap when bitting into it. The fries were seasoned will. It's definitely a great lunch spot in the area.

Cabana On the River is a hidden gem. The view of the river is beautiful and makes for wonderful scenery while eating. Parking is plentiful and accessible. There are tons of seats as well, so even on a Friday evening we didn't have to wait for seats. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food was fantastic. I got the ahi poke bowl and was pleasantly surprised. The menu is diverse and well priced. I highly recommend eating here!

Service was stellar. Food was delicious! I had the blackened Mahi Mahi fish tacos. So delicious! Even when a quick passing storm moved through, staff was so nice with closing the patio and helping folks find tables out of the rain. If you're looking for an indoor seat, this isn't the place. They have a covered patio and then they have tables with umbrellas on the deck. Since it's right on the river it's the perfect place on a summer day or evening!

Absolutely fantastic. Wonderful calming atmosphere, outstanding mixed and frozen drinks( especially the Pina colada and mango), huge food portions.

My boyfriend and I recently rode our Harley to The Cabana on the River, a restaurant highly recommended by a friend, and boy, we weren’t disappointed. As we arrived, we were greeted by a jovial crowd enjoying a game of volleyball with the beautiful Ohio River as their backdrop. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, setting the perfect tone for our evening. The restaurant offers outdoor seating right by the water, allowing us to soak in the stunning river views as we dined. The service was excellent from start to finish. The staff was attentive and friendly, making us feel right at home. For our meal, we chose the fish and chips, which were absolutely delicious. The fish was crispy and flavorful, and the chips were perfectly seasoned. We’re already excited to try even more of the menu next time we come! The journey to The Cabana was just as memorable as the destination. The scenic bypass we took was breathtakingly beautiful, with lush landscapes and serene vistas at every turn. Riding our Harley through such picturesque surroundings was a truly exhilarating experience. We ended our visit perfectly by riding off into the sunset, the open road stretching ahead of us.

Such a fun place. Felt like we were in Florida in t$3 beach. They have sand volley ball, a bar by the water. The food was actually pretty good too.

Been going to the Cabana for many years. So happy to see they reopened and it looks like it used to look only better. Excellent people watching and a great spot to hang out on the river.

Had an enjoyable evening out with friends, it was a great night to be outside so they were busy but our waitress did a good job. I had the Mahi Mahi dinner and it was delicious.

You don't really come here for the food, it's all about the atmosphere. The food truly is pretty good, but it's beach food for sure. Lots of fried options. I had a black and blue steak salad that was really good. There was also a buffalo chicken sandwich and fish and chips at the table and everyone was happy with their food. Atmosphere is like you are on vacation. Sitting on the water under an umbrella. Servers were friendly. Definitely recommend on a nice ( but not too hot) summer day!

Ate here for the first time this weekend. We ate right next to the river. I liked the live music as we walked in. I got the coconut shrimp basket and it was very good! Super crispy and not soggy at all. Great flavor and liked the dipping sauce. I want to come back again during the day time!

Cabana is a great spot for the whole family. The food is great and there's something on the menu for everyone. I love the boom boom shrimp - just the right mixture of flavor and spice. We come here several times every summer and you should too.

We decided to try them out because it was such a nice day to be outside. It's an odd restaurant set up with outdoor seating and then sheltered seating. There are multiple bars around the property, but none of them were open. I don't know why none of them were open, since there were a few hundred people there and the main bar was shoulder to shoulder people, so you couldn't order a drink. There were lots of people waiting for tables, but the turnover was pretty quick. We ordered the pretzels with cheese and the cheese sticks for appetizers. Neither one of which is anything special. I ordered the beef tenderloin sandwich, it wasn't great. Two big chunks of meat on marbled rye was annoying, having one of them be very tender while the other was tough and chewy just made me angry. The rye separates instantly between the dark and light swirls, so it doesn't make for a great sandwich bread. The raw onions were just haphazardly strewn across the whole basket. The fries are not memorable in any way. We got the chicken tenders and fries. The chicken was dry and chewy. The kids cheeseburger meal is two little sliders. They come just bread, meat, cheese, and they were dry. It seems like a fun place if you're all about drinking by the river, but the food was pretty mediocre.

Arrived without reservations and was seated without delay. The service was superb and the food was served quickly and was delicious. The atmosphere there was relaxed and welcoming. Will definitely return again. Thank you Cabana!

Cabana on the River never disappoints!! The food was amazing! The service was top notch and the atmosphere was perfect! It's our little get away!!

We were 31st on the wait list at 2:30 PM, which was no problem, so we went to the bar for a drink while we waited. My wife ordered a non-alcoholic beverage, and I had a draft beer that totaled $6.50. Since the minimum charge limit was $10, I offered to make up the difference with a $3.50 tip. Instead of accepting, the waitress curtly told me I would need to open a tab. I had no cash, so that was my only option. What was disappointing wasn't the policy itself, but the attitude. The waitress was not friendly, and in a busy place like this, a little kindness goes a long way. That lack of basic courtesy took away from what could have been an enjoyable outing. I will still tip, but the interaction soured the experience, and I will not return unless my wife specifically asks. It is unfortunate that so much effort goes into running a restaurant, yet one unfriendly employee can ruin the atmosphere. Basic people skills should be the easiest part of hospitality.

Perfect weather makes Cabana on the River a must experience. Dining outdoors beside the beautiful Ohio River was such a relaxing experience . The food is awesome and the service is quick. Highly recommend the fries chicken sandwich with a side of waffle sweet potato fries. You may have to wait for a table, but it is soooo worth it.

Sunday lunch with a group. Beautiful afternoon. Perfect weather and a great location. Clean open air restaurant, bar, and volleyball area. Started with some apps. Chips salsa, guacamole, queso, and several orders of pretzels. Everyone enjoyed them. Wife had fish and chips, she says good , not great. I had the grilled chicken salad, not bad , it was ok. This is the general consensus here, asking others at the table, they said the atmosphere location is beautiful, but the food is just marginal if not, just OK.

Our group from the Y are at Cabana on the River today. I had a mettwurst sandwich with fries. I found the sausage to be of higher quality than I'm used to. Some of the group had salads that they raved about and many people had to take home leftovers because of the awesome portions. Our server was friendly, fast , and efficient. We usually come here 2 to 3 times every summer while they are open.

View of the river is nice. Outside seating is a real plus. Food is better than average. Friendly, laid back vibe.

Everything was exceptional. Waitress was energetic, on top of everything. Had the grilled shrimp appetizer. Fresh tender seasoned just right. I ordered the beef tenderloin medium rare cooked perfectly. Big thick slabs of meat. I ordered it to try something different. I was surprised at the quality and quantity. Beautiful night great crowd.

Beautiful and relaxing! Our kids are able to play while we can relax watching the sunset.

Loved this spot. It's a bit out of the way but we'll worth the drive. So glad we decided to spend time here on a Friday night. Great meal, great service and a beautiful place. Drinks were yummy and we had a fabulous time. Tried to extend the stay to enjoy the view and beautiful summer weather but eventually we had to disappointedly say good night. Can't wait to return!

Always great food. Always great service. Always great atmosphere. My favorites are their Cobb and Black & Bleu California Steak salads.

My first time visiting Canbana on the river with some coworkers. I ordered the fish and chips my fish was fried to a hard dark brown I couldn't eat it.

Beautiful scenery and good food. Always a lot of fun down there. All the girls who work there are very nice.

The food is ok, wish they would change up the menu. It has been the same for many years now. They use to have great local bands in the past, not so much now. Hopefully next season they get more local bands to play at there. Friends and I miss going there.

Great food and scenic ambience. Service was exceptional and Ellie was so helpful from recommendations to refill. We had a great time with friends. 10/10. Recommendations are: steak on a stick appetizer. Coconut shrimp basket and Italian hogie sandwich. The fries are so crunchy and delicious.

Cabana on the River is entirely outdoors. Most of the seating is under cover. The tables closest to the river have umbrellas to protect patrons from the sun. Because all seating is outdoors, Cabana on the River is only open Spring(ish) through Fall(ish). I am not sure there are exact dates. A quick check at their website didn't offer additional insight. I do know this year it closed toward the end of September and.. I look forward to it opening again next year. The river views are nice and eating alfresco is always nice. I ordered the Cobb Salad with Salmon. Oh my goodness, I was surprised at how delicious it was! It was fresh, the salmon was perfectly cooked, the dressing on the side was a great accompaniment. It's always smart to get dressing on the side else one's salad becomes a dressing boat. Cabana on the River is close to home. We will definitely be back next year.

Best peel n eat shrimp around, and the cocktail sauce is off the chart! Very organized reservation system so you always know your place in wait line. The river view is so peaceful

OMG... I'm here to have the black and blue salad with the steak and it is extra awesome!!! The haddock sandwich and fish and chips were awesome as well! No better riverfront bar restaurant anywhere!!!

We wanted a river view for lunch, and we found it here! Unfortunately it was chilly this day, so we sat inside behind the plastic windbreaker. Already looking forward to returning on a nice day to sit outside. Since it was chilly, I had white chili for lunch and it was one of the better versions I've ever eaten. My date had fish and chips, and it was well done too. The only drawback is the plastic plates and utensils (as others have mentioned.) That's not a deal breaker but come on.... Service and prices were good. View was priceless. And it looks like they have live music on the weekends. I could get into that!

We had a short, disappointing experience, that was unfortunately very much in line with previous reviews reporting atrocious front-of-the-house attitudes. The negotiations with the staff about where we could be seated (either in one of the several open, non-reserved tables nearest the water, or one of the tables farthest from the water) spoiled the mood to the point that we didn't stick around to sample the food. Surprisingly rude and unprofessional, way out of proportion to what seemed to be our innocent and polite request. How is this hostess still employed? She appears to be the same one featured in several other poor reviews. We've driven past Cabana many times and always thought "we should try that place sometime". Now we have.

Food and drink were very good. However we had an issue where the servers accidently gave our table away (after we'd already been waiting almost an hour) to another party on accident. When brought to their attention they couldn't find a solution other than putting us in the queue further down than we were at the time they gave our table up. The Yelp app extended our already hour + wait to another hour and 20 min wait max. Even with the manager brought over (who I don't think understood that we were removed then put back into the queue again) explained it away to being short on tables/table size (we had 4) etc. That was not cool. Had we not all four stood at the check in counter I do not think they would have gotten us into seating for another hour (but they did find us a table sooner, but it probably extended our wait 30 min). After all that we asked if there was anything they might offer us for the inconvenience (ie appetizer etc) they simply said no. All of that wasn't cool at all. Luckily our server was sweet and the food was great and so we did still enjoy ourselves. We were going to stay for more drinks and listen to music but because of all the issues we moved onto the brewery next door right after eating when we would have simply stayed there and spent more.

The opinion relayed in about the soft pretzels were nothing special was ridiculous. They are some of the best I've eaten anywhere. Great place!

I like the patio and drinks more than the food, but this is a nice chill laid back restaurant outside of the city. It's like a hidden gem. It was my first visit on a Saturday afternoon. I didn't have a wait time and our server was nice. Jody was helpful, even though she was new. It's great for a casual outdoor experience on the Ohio River.

Is a really nice atmosphere to sit and watch the boats on the river, the food is very good, and the servers are nice and friendly, good place to eat.

First time here and ordered the kebabs with rice and veggies and honestly the food was terrible. However the service is immaculate and the scenery is beautiful.
