CabanaCopa Hostel

Staff at the hostel are really nice. One staff member Katherine was very helpful for helping me organize nearby activities from the hostel. Comfortable rooms and great atmosphere! Would reccomend!

I stayed here during carnival, I had an amazing time. All the employees are very helpful, friendly and kind. They will help you with whatever you need. The all speak very good english. Also the location is in a safe area and very close to the beach, shops and restaurants. Highly recommend. The only thing they could improve is the cleanliness, though it didn't bother me too much.

A great hostel! Rooms are super clean, a lot of bathrooms and the people who are working there are also super nice! I recommend their Caipirinha at the bar (its great) definitely recommend! (Hi Katherine🙋🏼❤️) Grts Kevin

Great location and nice rooftop but rooms are very small, dark and dirty- I only stayed 2 nights but am now covered in bed bugs bites and having to see UPA for treatment so wouldn’t recommend.

The hostel is in a good location and it felt safe. You do need to walk up a large hill, and the hostel has a lot of stairs so every day was leg day there. The kitchen is a little small but the rooftop is nice. Unfortunately it closes early. The room was a bit small and smelled bad. The air conditioning is nice and you can use it all day if you wish. The lockers are old and very squeaky, so you wake everyone up when you try to get your stuff. The beds are also quite squeaky. There are 2 showers for around 4 rooms, and 1 of them was closed for maintenance for most of my stay, which was a little unfortunate. It’s a decent place to stay if you’re on a budget!

Honestly apart from the good location everything else kinda sucks. Staff weren’t really attentive and didn’t seem to care. You have to make your own bed which is fine, but the mattress and pillow i had was covered in so many stains it’s wild they let me see that. The 5 bed dorm I was in also was cramped, take the funny little bed out and it would be okay. Hardly any room to put stuff and not enough lockers for people in the room. It was hot, stuffy and stunk the whole time. The hostel was also really noisy at night time, people rattling doors etc and just shouting in the hallways. Not a party hostel, just a poor place to stay.

The hostel is fine enough, but I got sick from a leaky AC mounted inches above my head that leaked water everywhere in my bed and on the floor. The kitchen is also poorly equipped, and you can only prepare basic meals.

Absolutely loved my stay at CabanaCopa Hostel. The location is excellent, a five minute walk to many bars, restaurants, stores, and Copocabana Beach. The staff were wonderful and friendly, and the social atmosphere of the hostel was the best part of my trip to Rio. The rooms are small but for such a price, it's impossible to complain. I would recommend to any backpacker.

The staff is friendly and there are extra showers and bathrooms in the halls in case the one in your room is being used. Doors are locked to each room and lockers are in each room.

Nice large hostel, walking distance to the beach and metro. Friendly staff that help you find your way around Copacabana. Walking distance to an adequate amount of food options and shops. Bathrooms on every floor that have more than enough room for everyone on the floor. Great common areas with a bar.

Staff is friendly. Rooms are fresh even with 8 ppl in the room you can still feel the AC. There are extra showers in the hallways. Bottom bunks haha curtains. Each bed has its own charger and light. There is breakfast upstairs for about $2.50 or 10 reals. The rooms have lockers. Walking distance to the beach.

I did not stay at this hostel but I went to grab a few inexpensive drinks and talk with people that were friendly (hostels are great to visit if you're traveling alone). Security wise: They had to buzz me in past an external security door and I was told by some of the guests that after a certain time you have to have a wrist band to be in the hostel. They had WiFi and a couple big TVs. Drinks were decently cheap and the staff was friendly. Everyone that I talked to said it was a top tier hostel.
