Cabañas Tulum Hotel - Beach Hotel & Spa

We loved our stay here! (June 2025) stayed in a beachfront king suite with plunge pool, and loved our dips to cool off with the sound of waves under a canopy of coconut trees- felt magical! The two restaurants were fantastic, and service throughout the hotel was 5-star- it was clear that everybody really wanted us to love our stay. Warm pool, very nice but totally unpretentious common areas (spa, games room, gym) and a great location walkable to all the spots in the hotel zone of Tulum. They are kind, welcoming, and accomodating. I would love to go back, and will happily stay there again! Re Tulum generally: Check weather and ocean reports so you are not disappointed in your stay— the entire coastline is covered in sargassum and not swimmable right now, and it is really hot. Neither of those prevented us from loving wvery minute on this property, and enjoying the area’s cenotes and ruins and one another.

My husband and I stayed at Cabanas Tulum for our baby moon. The stay was absolutely incredible. The staff is kind, welcoming and so helpful. Everything about the hotel is beautiful and the vibes were just right. The food was also amazing. I felt at ease being pregnant as they use all filtered water for all cooking and beverages. Both my husband and I have only amazing reviews for this place. We will absolutely be going back! Special shout out to Fredy and Axel for their incredible service, but honestly all the staff members were extremely hospitable and helpful. We also did a guided tour snorkeling with sea turtles and visiting a cenote with Simon, Fredy’s brother, and he was a most excellent guide as well. Not only was he a joy to spend the day with but also a wealth of knowledge. We can’t wait to come back!

This place...the room...the beach...the entire staff...all of it, completely amazing! The most professional and kindest hotel staff I have ever dealt with. The hotel is amazing. It is one of the few hotels that is steadfast to an eco-friendly, bohemian style Tulum experience...and they deliver on all of it. We were sad to leave and cannot wait to return. If your are looking for the touristy, party atmosphere...THIS IS NOT FOR YOU. If you want to connect with nature, the ocean, and the people of Tulum...this is it. I am giving 5 stars because I can't give 10.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Cabanas Tulum Hotel and it was a wonderful experience. The staff is so friendly and helpful, our room was always beautiful and clean, and the beach front proximity made our lazy beach mornings relaxing and fun. The food at both restaurants is delicious and we enjoyed getting our included breakfast each morning. We could also easily walk to lots a great spots along the beach front. The hotel was very secure and I would 100% recommend booking a stay here.

I just returned from an early birthday trip and I already miss this hotel, the staff and Tulum overall. The natural beauty of the place made for a perfect and relaxing vacation, a place to unwind and really disconnect from busy everyday life. We were upgraded to the sister hotel The Beach next door due to some work being done in our area, this made for an even more amazing experience!

We loved staying here. There's a simple sophistication about this property. All staff members were helpful and always had a smile and greeting to offer. Location is great, in walking distance to restaurants and and mini-marts/ farmacias. The on- site restaurants and service were excellent as well! We'll be back.

This place is what dreams are made of! I read all positive reviews and let me tell you, I was STILL blown away despite knowing I was in for a treat! It felt like we were transported to paradise upon entering this beautiful property. The concierge team are some of the most friendly and welcoming people I’ve ever met, especially Aldo. They made the room extra special for our celebration and genuinely cared to get to know us as people, not just guests. We ate the most delicious breakfasts at Fresco’s every day and chatted with so many kind people. Rosa and Axel took extra great care of us! There are tons of great vegan options which we really appreciated. Guillermo gave us a great list of vegan restaurants to check out in town, hit him up if you need local suggestions! The rooms are all stunning. We stayed in a sunset room and loved the rooftop hot tub for stargazing at night. The AC kept us comfortable at night. As for the reason you’re probably there, the beach! It’s stunning and photos don’t do it justice. We never had a problem finding empty seats/beds and felt totally safe leaving our things out while we swam or walked around. There is a security person there at all times. We appreciated that the staff removed the seaweed when it piled up. I loved that the hotel uses WhatsApp to communicate- it made things very easy. Anytime we needed anything or had a question, they responded immediately. Even to order drinks to the beach 😊 thanks for making such delicious drinks, Felipe! I cannot recommend Cabanas enough! I’m not sure how another place will top this one. We will absolutely be staying here again and again, hopefully soon!

Really nice hotel. Right on the beach, the staff is wonderful and always helpful. The front desk ladies were so kind and welcoming. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and beautiful. The spa was wonderful, too! Great place for a relaxing vacation.

What an absolute dream of a 10th Anniversary at the Cabañas Tulum Hotel and Spa! The experience was immaculate on every level. The flawless staff were a joy to be around and treated us to the most special of memories we'll cherish forever. The bus transfer which was arranged ahead of time with the hotel from the sparkling new airport was on point and arrived in perfect time. We arrived to a romantic welcome of rose petals and champagne and the breathtaking view of the Caribbean from our beautiful room with both a patio and rooftop deck with hot tub. Amazing to sit in either spot for a morning coffee or a rooftop view of the stars at night. The food at both Ziggy's and Fresco's were the most exceptional we had in Tulum. The couples message we received in the Spa was so amazing (hydrotherapy is gratis) we won't soon forget it! Owners, management, staff, grounds crew, bartenders, servers, et. al., were truly world class and we wish every single one of them the very best. We were so fortunate to have been guests in this special place. So much so we were deeply saddened to leave our new friends. The Cabañas deserves our highest praise and we will most certainly share the word it is the jewel of Riviera Maya! Muchísimas gracias amigos! Dios bo'otik (Para los Mayeros)!

I did a ton of research before booking the hotel for our 5th wedding anniversary trip. I was drawn to Cabanas for all the 5 star reviews about the staff and the reviews were right on. The staff was super helpful and very friendly knowing us by name and they were always cheerful. Our room was decorated with flowers and a bottle of champagne for our anniversary and started our trip off so nicely. We took the champagne up to our private hot tub above our room and enjoyed the moonlight. I also loved that they had a coffee maker in the room and that breakfast was included in their two restaurants. This was absolutely the best way to start our day. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. They helped us book a private tour to the ruins and a private cenote that turned out to be the highlight of the trip for my husband. We also took a yoga class on property in a very cool space and the instructor was fantastic. It was just us and another couple and she customized the practice to focus on couple stretching and the meaning of relationships. The beach was lovely and quiet with ample chairs and couches to enjoy the day. There was definitely a lot of seaweed but the hotel worked hard to clear as much as possible and make pathways for guests to enjoy the water. The hotel also provides a beach bag which was nice to tote our beach towels and such for our afternoons on the beach. We didn't really use the pool as there wasn't a lot of shade and no view. This was definitely a wonderful place to stay and we would love to come back.

I've never stayed anywhere as amazing as Cabanas! The moment we walked in we were welcomed with the most friendly staff. They helped us with EVERYTHING from cabs to recommendations and scheduling. You communicate via WhatsApp and they are super quick to respond. The food and frescos and Ziggys is so good. We did not have one bad meal. The spa was also amazing. We did a couples massage with hydrotherapy.. could not recommend it enough. The most friendly people, the most beautiful hotel. They went above and beyond. You will not regret booking your trip here.

We could not have been happier with our stay. The service was excellent and it was easy to reach the front desk whenever we needed or wanted anything. The area of the beach is much quieter than further down the beach which we appreciated. The food was excellent at both restaurants as well.

WORST HOTEL I hAVE EVER BEEN TO! Stay away!! From mysterious charges on our bill we never ordered to absurdly high cancellation fees on a cancelled excursion because of illness, this hotel will ensure you have a great time while you're being squeezed out of every single dollar. Bes sheets were hard, the bed too soft, no privacy if you don't have curtains closed (what's the point of having an oceanfront). Food was mediocre at best. STAY FAR FAR AWAY!!

Absolutely amazing stay with Cabanas Tulum! It exceeded all our expectations. Location is great, walking distance to all hot spots yet far away enough not to hear annoying music at night. The facilities and rooms are super clean. There are people constantly working to keep up the property in pristine condition. The food is amazing at Frescos and Ziggys. The vibe is adult and chill, the spa is gorgeous and massages were amazing! We also tried yoga in beautiful palapa and it was such a nice start to eventful day. I cannot wait to be back!

Hotel Cabañas is the best place I have ever stayed at. My wife and I came for our honeymoon and loved it. Super clean, modern, and inviting rooms. Offering room service, balconies, rooftop hot tubs, a pool, spa venue, and direct access to the beach. Not to mention Ziggy's next door! We would be so glad to come back here.

DO NOT STAY HERE if you're looking for a safe and peaceful stay! Horrible! Items were stolen out of our room on our last night. We stayed in the Spa Suite and thought we were safe, completely wrong! They stole all of our cash, cell phone, AirPods and charger. While explaining the incident to Hotel Manager Angel, he accused us of lying and advised Hotel Security would need to search all of our belongings to ensure the items weren't hidden. We went back and forth with Angel, filled out the incident report and asked if Security would be arriving soon as we needed to catch our flight home. Angel then changed his stance and said no, we trust you so no need for security search your items. We were quite confused on the change in direction. Dealing with this madness caused us to miss our flights and we had to purchase new flights home- adding more to our loss. After arriving back in the states, we continued to inquire about our missing items through concierge. Going back and forth with concierge and one conversation with Angel, he advised he will need more time before their verdict. Days later, we received an email from COO, Ray Valle explaining here's nothing they can do for us. Completely unacceptable and disturbing. This experience has been extremely horrible and cost us a lot of money on our last few hours at Cabanas Hotel.

Wow!!! We absolutely loved our stay at Cabanas. The resort is gorgeous and extremely clean. The staff provide 5 star, Ritz Carlton service ! They are all friendly and take care of your every need. Nahama, and Nancy helped us find the perfect restaurants, excursions and were the best hostesses. We enjoyed Omar and the Frescos team taking care of us each morning at breakfast. This place is paradise!!

If you plan on visiting Tulum and are trying to find a place to stay, stop what you're doing and book your stay at Cabañas. We usually don't write reviews but felt like we had to let people know how amazing this place was. From the customer service, to the amenities, to the restaurants (Fresco's & Ziggys) on the property..everything was perfect! We stayed in the beachfront room and it was so gorgeous, we had a personal plunge pool on the patio overlooking the beach with the best views. The Naaj Nay spa was also hands down the best massage I've ever gotten. The staff at the whole hotel truly knows how to make your stay spectacular! 10/10 would recommend and will definitely be back!

The five-star rating that Cabanas currently has is well-deserved. After a bit of research, we decided Cabanas was the place for us. We were disappointed when we booked as there were no swim-up rooms available. Little did we know that the beachfront rooftop room was everything we wanted. The balcony has two sets of double doors, one with screens so that you can leave it open to hear the waves crashing at night. So relaxing. The staff was very responsive even before we arrived. The rooms are a good size and have adequate storage for all of your baggage! The pool was nice, but we spent all of our leisure time on the beach. The private beach area has loungers, beds, cabanas as well as a set of swings. One thing to note, if you visit between May and October, be prepared to see seaweed on the beaches of the Caribbean coast of Mexico during that time. Seaweed is beyond their control, and I certainly will not dock Cabanas for that in my review. Cabanas is in the middle of everything. We were able to bike ride and walk to most places. After long days out on the beach or exploring Tulum, Cabanas was a welcome retreat at the end of each day. I selfishly want to keep this place a secret, but sharing is caring. After all, it's how I found this place in the first place. :) Go! Relax, Explore, Indulge and Repeat!

Excellent boutique hotel right on the beach. I was here for a wedding in which the entire wedding party and immediate family stayed at the hotel, so it was a really nice experience. We stayed in one of the beachfront rooftop rooms, which I think is their best offering, and it was amazing. Literally on the beach, and you have your own private rooftop (nobody can see you up there) with a bed, a hot tub, and two lounge chairs. There's also a hammock on the balcony. We slept every night with the door to the balcony open, and it was so nice with the ocean breeze and the sound of the waves crashing. My one complaint is that I mysteriously lost $200 during my stay here. I didn't bother filing an official complaint because I can't be certain of what happened to it, but I know it was in my wallet when I arrived and it wasn't there anymore a few days later. All of the staff were very friendly and nice, and it's walking distance to a lot of great spots.

An awesome spot right on the beach. Their rooms split the difference between palapas and hotels but unlike most places in the area, they have WiFi all day and electricity from 5pm to 9am (and intermittently in between their "off" hours). The bar drinks are awesome and everything is freshly made!

if there was a sixth star I would post it here. Simply one of the best places you can stay while in Tulum. Food is awesome! Refrescoes is great for a light breakfast, while Ziggy's delivers the goods for bigger meals. The beach location can't be beat as it's got plently of space and they keep it very clean. The staff were fantastic too - very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be coming back here soon.

We stayed 5 nights at the hotel and ate at the cafe Fresco 4 times besides our free breakfast. The food was so good we were actually giggly over it -- breakfast of the gods and those shrimp tacos... The staff is friendly, the bed is very comfortable, the air conditioning is modern and works quietly, the shower is great. Our room was a "swim up" and we just loved cooling off in the pool and then warming back up in our own hot tub every afternoon. The beach is perfect with all the palms, so you can have sun or shade as you want. Everything was just perfect.

I feel so lucky that my friends mother found this place for us and they had a room available. This place was the perfect mix between exotic boho and quaint luxury. It is so clean and there is constant staff on hand to help with anything you might need. Also the restaurants attached to the Cabañas have amazing food- Ziggy's and Frescos. Beautifully prepared and though fully executed with major attention to detail on quality and flavor. The rooms also had AC every evening and a coffee machine for coffee in the morning. I cannot recommend this place enough! Stay here if you come to Tulum!
