Cabarete Maravilla Beach Ecolodge Surf, Kite, Yoga

Great location and it was a last minute booking maybe that's why the forgot the towels in the room. Since the buildings are all wood you hear the neighbors on top, every step. Seems like a family owned place, so overall good for the purpose of spending a night in Cabarete.

Price value was excellent, I needed a room for one night with AC and got a very good offer, far from what the next door places wanted, they were asking for 205.00 USD. The room was clean and functional, AC working very well and even had some toast and eggs included next morning. Good that I found this place at the last minute.

We STRONGLY NOT recommend this Hotel. When we arrived it was pouring rain and it took hotel attendant more than 20 minutes to walk us one by one with the smallest umbrella ever to the reception area. Obviously we were drenched. We met the Owner that charged us an extra $100 dollars in cash for 2 rooms with AC because we had mistakenly reserved the rooms with no AC. The smaller rooms toilet and AC wasn’t working. The bigger room had a non working Jacuzzi and dirty sheets. There were only 2 staff members on site. The attendant was Receptionist, Handyman, Bartender, Security and then some. The cook was also the massage therapist. We stayed 1 night and in the morning met a guest with her 18 year old daughter who had gotten food poisoning from the hotels food. We did NOT wait a single minute longer and we packed up all our luggage’s and ran to the next doors hotel NATURA CABANA to ESCAPE our Hotel Nightmare experience! We woke up in the middle of the night with a Tarantula in our bed that sneaked into our luggage from Ecolodge. We should be reimbursed or even get paid for our HORRIBLE experience.

Lovely, peaceful campus and comfortable, airy room. A range of hammocks, tables, and lounge chairs to hang out throughout the property. My kids loved jumping from the high platform into the pool. The beach is stunningly gorgeous - note that there are a lot of rocks underfoot in the water and the waves are intense so bring sturdy water shoes if you plan to swim. There are beautiful walking paths along the beach through mangroves and through rocky outcroppings. Much chiller and nature-focused than the beach at Cabarete. Dinner at the hotel wasn't great but the restaurant on the property next door was fantastic.

I strongly advise against booking this hotel. From the moment I arrived, it was clear this place is not as advertised. There was nobody in the lobby to greet me, and I was awkwardly asked to sign paperwork with no explanation or assistance. The room had electrical issues, so they had to bring in a floor fan – definitely not the experience I expected.||The rules here are absurd. There are strange signs everywhere telling you what you can’t do – no eating or drinking in the room, which is just unreasonable. And the room itself? Absolutely basic, with nothing but a bed. No welcome water, no amenities – I’ve never stayed in a hotel that doesn’t offer a simple bottle of water upon arrival.||The cleanliness is horrifying. The first thing I saw when I walked in was animal waste on the mat by the door. Inside, the place was no better. The bathroom was disgusting – urine stains on the toilet, a broken toilet, and everything smelled moldy and mildewy. This is not a lodge, it’s a filthy disaster. And to top it off, you’re not allowed to flush toilet paper, so imagine having to put it in a bin that wasn’t emptied. I couldn’t even sleep properly here; I only used the room to change clothes.||The dining area was just as bad, with animals running around where food was served. I was also shocked to find there is no security – the balcony door didn’t lock, and when I raised this concern, the owner was dismissive and uninterested. He didn’t care about my safety; all he said was, “Use the safe.” I was concerned for my personal|safety alongside my possessions. A bike lock materialised. As you can see from my pictures this didn’t provide a solution. ||Don’t be fooled by the old, good reviews – this place has seriously gone downhill, especially since 2022. It’s a huge disappointment and a waste of money. There are plenty of other better options in the DR that will actually offer you a safe, clean, and enjoyable experience. Avoid this place at all costs!

We stayed at the Cabarete Maravilla Beach Ecolodge for 5 days in Feb. 2025 It was a nice place right on the beach. Just be very cautious with your banking cards, credit cards and money. Our credit card was cloned there and we were missing some of our cash from our room. This happened on the second day of our stay there. It was evident as to the date the card was used. My advice is to lock all your cards. Only unlock them when needed and as soon as you have finished any transaction lock them again. Also our daughter in another room had some of her money taken. The safe they provide is only a wooden box with a small padlock the type used on a suitcase with 3 keys. So do not know how many other keys are also available for each lock. Also the door on our balcony has no lock so the adjacent rooms balcony has access to our balcony with no barrier. Just be very careful staying at this place.

BEWARE—- While we enjoyed the beach front rustic eco treehouse style vibe of the lodge, we had money go missing from our room and we were not the only ones. There were a total of three separate rooms that had money go missing at some point during our 5 nights there. I did let the owner know but they deny it was anyone there and blamed it on local gang activity, which was hard to believe as our room was always locked when we left it.

This was my third time staying, and it has always been good, but now it is fantastic! It is like the whole place been upgraded, since the bar, pools and seating areas on the beach have been added.|You couldn't find a better family run accommodation with such lovely staff, best location and the whole place has such a personal touch! I have travelled in almost 100 counties, and I keep on coming back here, as it is such a perfect base for your holiday!|No matter if you want to relax with a cocktail at suns set on the beautiful beach or want an active holiday full of surf, trekking or other action full way to spend your vacation, this is your place to be!| Except for serene beaches, you have the Latino touch and Caribbean flow...
