A great base to visit the Osa Peninsula or to just relax. Our plans were scotched on the first day due to an allergic reaction that made us stay put but this is definitely the place to stay on Golfo Dulce! The cabinas hotel is just outside the main town which is still only a couple of minutes’ walk. It’s in a calm spot right on the Gulf. Like a great many of the cabinas, ours looked out onto the Golf and we never tired of watching the activity out there from our comfortable veranda. ||Once we felt more ourselves, we made the most of the kayaks that the hotel make available and headed off into the neighbouring mangrove just after dawn – fantastic experience ! The hotel also has bikes for its guests. Great idea even if we didn’t make use of them ourselves. We also missed out on owner John’s boat trip round the Gulf which I’m sure was a great experience as he knows it like the back of his hand. I would also expect that it was easier to approach the Gulf dolphins from a single boat than when there are several all heading in the same direction as was the case on our outing in Uvita. While we were there some people had also spotted orcas out in the bay – a rare sight!||Another highlight are the scarlet macaws that come and feast on the almond trees around the hotel. We only had to step outside of our cabinas shortly after sunrise to enjoy a fabulous spectable. We never tired of seeing pairs fly across the Gulf either and loved the macaw deco in our comfortable rooms of cabina 21 !|This is truly a special place. Thanks to John, Anne & the team for making our stay memorable one despite our unexpected change of plan 😊

This was our second time staying here and it was once again great. Very clean and comfortable accommodations and pretty views of the water. Super convenient to everything you want do and also the staff is really helpful. Gabi gave great insights and also helped us out of a few jams. Juanita also was really great helping when we had a question as was the rest of the staff. It also is really convenient as far as walking to a grocery, bakery, restaurants, etc. We got takeout from Pizza Mail It quite a few times to eat on our deck, too. All in all a great trip.

Our expectations were exceeded at this hotel. We really liked using the free kayaks and just kayaking in the mangroves whenever we wanted. Everything is walkable. And the air conditioning is a godsend. We really liked sitting on the patio and having coffee in the morning and looking at the sun come out over the bay. I would not hesitate to stay here again. The people were very nice and helped us with little tips and hints about traveling around the area.

We stayed at Cabinas Jimenez before and after a three day trip into Corcovado. John, Gabby, and Juanita couldn’t have been more|accommodating. Our room faced the Golfito Dulce and the pool with really nice sitting areas, an outdoor kitchen, all the comforts of home. I had nice conversations with all three, and felt as if I knew them already. We will definitely go back to spend more time.

We stayed here for five nights either side of a trip to Corcovado. We had a waterside room with a kitchen terrace. Communication in advance was excellent. Support during our visit was also very good. The room was clean and as we expected and the kitchen terrace exceeded our expectations. The pool was a bit smaller than we thought - more of a spa pool - but watching the sun rise over the river with Scarlet Macaws chattering overhead, colourful tanagers perching on our wall and kingfishers and herons on the river - I honestly couldn't ask for more!

We stayed at Cabinas Jimenez for one night before our overnight Corcovado tour. When we arrived we were welcomed at the front desk and provided very helpful information including a map of town with recommended restaurants to try and sites to visit highlighted. We got a quick tour on the way to our room, it was great to learn there were bikes to ride around town on, and kayaks available to paddle in the bay. There is a covered deck area that overlooks the beach with a BBQ if we wanted to cook. The room was nice, AC, comfy bed, coffee maker, roomy shower. They do not offer food/breakfast, but the bakery is right down the street and opens at 4:30 AM. | Since our tour required us to meet the following morning at 5:15 AM, they said we could leave our excess luggage and key in the room, and that they would store our bags safely until we returned the following day. They were really great even though our tour was delayed in returning. I would definitely stay here again in the future.

Can't beat it for the combo of location, amenities, and value! We stayed 5 nights and were sad to leave. It's a no frills spot with tons of charm. Walkable to the waterfront/ town pier, restaurants and shops, with a decent supermarket at the other side of town. Trees FULL of macaws and other birds. The AC was divine and the little pool was just enough to cool off after a long day of beach/ adventure. We enjoyed sitting out on the patio at night, listening to the water. The staff are the best feature - from check in to check out, we felt welcomed and cared for. We'll be back!

We stayed for 6 nights John and Gabby were very accommodating and we received great service. It’s a budget hotel and for what we got I think it is a great value. We appreciate all their help and flexibility when we had to change our plans last minute. The AC was much needed in Puerto Jimenez if you come from colder climates. I recommend this hotel if you are looking for a nice location, good service, friendly staff, and a good value.
