"Best Brunch in Berlin The Berlin brunch scene is typically a buffet-style brunch with meats & cheeses, maybe a quiche or a soft-boiled egg. While that's an enjoyable meal, sometimes breaking out of the mold is called for. That's what makes the California Breakfast Slam so unique. It's an American-style brunch that serves up Berlin's best pancakes. But even here the breakfast meals come with a twist... Using gourmet cooking styles and spices, the typical American brunch of eggs, pancakes, and hash browns becomes an explosion of taste in your mouth!"

"An oasis of California-style cuisine in a city obsessed with German cold-cut buffets and seeded rolls, Cabslam (California Breakfast Slam) occupies a quiet corner of Neukölln. Its varied menu ranges from shakshuka (poached eggs cooked in a spicy tomato sauce) and giant, fluffy pancakes with candied nut and fruit toppings to biscuit sandwiches and other egg dishes such as huevos rancheros. The place is invariably packed—especially on weekends—with a young, international, and often fairly hungover clientele. Burgers, salads, and other classics are also on offer for lunch, and the service is as warm and welcoming as the wood-heavy interior."

This is a really relaxing, welcoming place in Neukoln. The menu is pretty small but offers a good variety of brunch staples including veggie and vegan spins on dishes like eggs Benedict as well as the traditional versions. The steak and eggs is very good and great value. Our breakfast here set us up for a busy day shopping. The service was friendly and unobtrusive. My partner left his mobile phone on the table and the server ran down the street to hand it back. No complaints except it's a little off the beaten track. If you're in the area check it out.

Fantastic brunch place! Hands down, One of my favourites in Berlin. Delicious food, lovely service, clever content marketing and cosy atmosphere. This little gem has everything to succeed.

Very good, can’t complain really. My dish (pictured) cost around 10 euro (a bit less, don’t remember the price exactly), and was absolutely delicious and filling. Orange fresh and coffee were very good too. The servant (a guy) was friendly and effective. We ordered also a pancake - just to try- and this is where I would give minus one star (but won’t) as I didn’t find it super-dooper. Or maybe I was just full with my main dish. Anyway, I’m rating the place high and would go there again for brunch, yes.

We had a nice brunch last Sunday and the food was really good but we were very disapointed with the service. The place was not really full, there were 4-5 waiters but we had to wait 30 minutes for drinks and almost one hour for the food. The Florentine eggs were delicious but...12€ and one hour? I don't understand that...Also we asked if there was any problem with the kitchen and they answer that is 'normal waiting time', so that showed that anyone in the staff was worried about the delay. In conclusion: there are more places in the area that we will try next time ;)

I went there one and half years ago, and ate one of the best and biggest pancakes I ever had, it was so huge I couldn't even finish it. They also have a lot of different dishes that sounds lovely in the menu. Friendly and warm environment, the service is fast and efficient. They also sell homemade (?) cookies and brownies at the counter. A good place, I think, to have breakfast on a cold winter morning!

I was a regular customer here the past two years however after the change of ownership in November 2017, the soul has been butchered and the quality of food has declined. The old staff look pained and the new staff inexperienced in the American style of service. The renovations have made the interior look like just another generic cafe, ‘‘tis your gritty Neukölln home turned cafe no more. The former cult loved Cabslam brunch experience is dead and gone. No longer recommended.

Although, the place looks nice and the staff is very friendly, pancakes there are not the best we tried in Berlin. They are way too big, nothing special. Coffee is pretty good.

We came to this place for brunch and had one of the best meals I’ve had in a very long time. The food and coffee were excellent, the service great and fast, with a super nice waitress and the place was really beautiful. The prices aren’t cheap but neither expensive: completely worth it. 100% suggested for everyone

Yelp
This is close to where we live, so although we pass by pretty much every day, we don't actually pop in so frequently (not for any negative reason, simply because when you're almost home you want to, well, get in the door!) But we did occasionally visit Cabslam under its previous management and watched the (long overdue) renovation at the end of 2017. This Sunday our curiosity got the better of us and we went for brunch. So what's different? Straightaway we noticed that the somewhat shambolic service has improved; and although there was a mixup over a drink, we were not charged for it. Good news: prices seem to have stayed the same, the pancakes and huevos rancheros were both very good. Only quibble - the smaller plate for the latter meant that the portion size was not as generous as before. More choice in coffee this time, good to see a flat white on the menu. BTW we were able to order in German, which does not tally with an earlier report. So generally mostly positive, and there is a good likelihood of us returning now and then. Packed out at the weekend, although we managed to squeeze onto a shared table it's probably wise to reserve in advance.

Yelp
Used to have good American breakfast/brunch until the new ownership took it over and germanized (ie. ruined) it. The pancakes are now crumbly and tasteless, the syrup is like sugary water, and the portions are tiny. They also seem to think playing generic kitschy country music will fool people into thinking it's American. Won't be going back.

Yelp
I mean, I know it just got renovated and everything BUT, the prices are insane (almost 5e for an orange juice in a Kiezcafe in the depths of Neukölln, are you kidding us people??). Food is average and "all over the place", it also comes like 30min after the order in an empty Cafe.. I mean we love to support a Kiezcafe in our neighbourhood, but not with these prices and such a pretentious (but totally average) experience. And another thing. We ourselves are not german but we dont oblidge people to speak our own language. The only-english policy is insane, when we can clearly hear you discussing in german behind the bar.

Yelp
We ordered (2) steak, eggs and potatoes and the egg plate. Everything was very delicious. The server was quick and nice.! The establishment is family friendly and easy to find.

Yelp
oh boy. what a mess... i came with two friends, er ordered food and drinks and first thing i noticed was that they did not separate the orders from other people in the room. it was just a long list of things everyone wanted. unsurprisingly when it came to serving the food it was a complete mess. the waiters entered the room with plates didn t know where to put them. A couple of times the chef either misread the order or the waiter's handwriting was unreadable, as they prepared the wrong dish for us and two other groups... While one of our group receiced his dish early, my other friend and I had to continue waiting. Other tables also had this issue. This, plus the uncertainty if our food was coming at all was unpleasant. In the meantime a neighbor's table asked the passing waiter for something, to which the waiter reacted angrily, telling him to wait and if he can t see that he was busy. It was a violent tone. Finally I got my dish, and still some time later my other friend, the wrong one though.... Finally when we were already finished eating his dish came. he started eating and noticed that there was a huge Bug hiding in the food. We couldn identify it straight away, but it was 1cm . I am not kidding. it was not a cockroach, that much i can tell. they apologized and removed the plate and offered us Cocktails. we were willing to accept. only later we realized this was more a trade off then a frendly gesture. He did not get his dish bug free and left without having eaten. the female waiters were nice and clearly suffered under bad management, so we couldn t really be angry with them. Cabslam needs to get its shit together though
