Cactus Burrito

As a fan of Mexican food, I'd come here more often, but the restaurant is a good walk from the station, the hours are a bit odd and sadly a bit pricey. Still, the one time I got to visit this place, I thoroughly enjoyed the burrito! Wasn't quite the same as what you'd get in the States, but enough to make me nostalgic. Crowd Size: Low

Came and try the mexican food. Order the buritos shrimp (Chili Garlic Shrimp) and pork (carnitas). Also order guacamole & chips and pork & jalapeno. The food doesn't taste like mexican food. So disappointed. The price is on the high side.

Interesting Mexican Food place. Certainly tasty but not really authentic. It's a good attempt and we go there for takeout. They offer their all Mexican meals over fries for gluten free folk. Otherwise it's a rolled burrito.

Third time visiting this place. Last times I visited was before COVID. The taste hasn’t changed which I liked and this has now become my favourite cali style Mexican food restaurant. The owner is super nice and bubbly. They do speak English. You can reserve tables via Instagram DM. The place is also small 7-8 people capacity. The food and beer on tap are all we’re all good. Their beef seemed to be bit on the chewy side but rest was good. They have one soy meat option in their burrito as well.

This is THE place to go if you want to eat authentic Mexican food in Japan. I’ve been to many other Mexican restaurants around Tokyo and was never satisfied until I came here. I used to live in San Diego, California, where Mexican food is delicious and everywhere. I was hit with nostalgia when I first ate the Carne Asada Fries at Cactus Burrito because it tasted as delicious as the best San Diego restaurants. I highly recommend the Carne Asada Fries, California Burrito, Carnitas tacos, and guacamole. Stop by here if you are ever in the area. It is delicious here and the owners are very friendly!

For context I’m from southern CA where there is a lot of yummy Mexican food. I love Mexican food and have had it from many authentic places but I can’t claim to be a connoisseur. I’m just your average food enjoyer. Every mouthful of what we ordered was a delight, a bit on the salty side but that’s the way I like it. Sometimes chicken can be dry. Not this place. It was tender, juicy, and well seasoned. So was the beef. I could taste a fresh lime flavor balanced with the right amount of saltiness. You would think the potato wedges would be too potatoey as compared to regular string shaped fries. Actually they were not too potatoey and struck a good balance with the other ingredients in both dishes we ordered. Their homemade hot sauce was tasty but not spicy in the slightest. I’d be very pleased if they fixed that. The guacamole was really yummy. The fresh lime and avocado really came through. The burrito was also not stuffed with rice as filler. I enjoy rice in my burritos but this one didn’t need it. The tortilla used to wrap the burrito was good. Not a typical store-bought one, thin but sturdy and tasty enough to hold everything together both structurally and flavorwise. The smoothie was tasty. I could taste all the things listed in the ingredient list and it helped to wash down the heavy meal. The atmosphere of the shop is spacious and the decorations are nostalgic for me. It had an American feel. There are not that many seats. Multiple people came by to get take out. Customers were striking up conversation with the owner so it’s a comfortable place to eat. Finally, the price is pretty exorbitant for a burrito / fries but they did not hold back on the quality of ingredients and the flavor and they seem to be a small and local restaurant so I’ll give them a pass. When my wallet is feeling up to it I hope to be back to try the wet burrito and pork options as well.

I really enjoyed the burrito and ambiance inside was great. The two people working were super friendly and accommodating. The pork carnitas is a must if you go. However, the reason for 4 stars is due to the size and price. A little expensive for what you get, with chips and salsa costing extra. Still, totally worth checking out.

The place is a little small but the food is so good. I always go around looking for Mexican food, and this place delivers when it comes to burritos. Friendly staff with reasonable prices too. Have been here 3 times and will keep going. The avacado milkshake is a must-have, too.

Cactus burrito, located in Musashi Shinjo, was at one time (somewhat recently) considered one of the best burrito spots around the Tokyo area, but on a recent visit my friends and I were pretty disappointed. I ordered the Cali-style Carne Asada burrito, and the most of the fillings were cold. Yes, cold fries (FYI...Cali-style burritos are filled with fries instead of rice), cold cheese and the meat was an inconsistent factor within the burrito. It was random bites of chunks of meat instead of shredded pork which I often find elsewhere. It was also considerably smaller than I remember. It's unfortunate as it's been a popular spot for burritos for many people for many years, but I guess these things happen. Is the pandemic to blame...? Not sure when I plan to go back next but considering there are quite a few locations to get a decent burrito these days it could be a while before I'm back.

I feel like this was bfe middle of nowhere for me as I followed behind some friends to find this place on a cold rainy night. Venturing from Yokosuka to this place too me a little over an hour but it was totally worth it! Small and loaded with American and Cali kitchyness it had the outwardly appearance of a Japanese bar and the inside comfort of taco truck meets Portland street car dive bar Japanese bookstore. Small inside- about 3 tables that seat 4-6 people at each, and a few seats at the counter. I browsed the English menu and decided to go for the so-cal no frills burrito and a drink that had tomato, cassis and lychee (totally sounds strange but totally delicious!). They have a few styles of burritos - enchilada style, no frills style, and fast food style. The last two come wrapped in foil, first one is doused with enchilada sauce and baked with cheese. Perhaps is been so long since I've had a burrito having been living in Hawaii the last 6+ years but this was a great burrito. Inside my foil wrapped tortilla were nice pieces of high quality steak, thick crinkle cut fries and some amazing guacamole & housemade refried beans. They can even do split orders- but like nearly everywhere, cash only. My drink and burrito total were ¥2797. The most expensive burrito I've ever bought but hey, it's a fantastic burrito in Japan, in a cool little shop. Totally worth it!

Back in the days when I was in VA, I've gotten used to eating TexMex at joints like Baja Fresh, Chipotle, etc. And I have been yearning for a good TexMex ever since I moved back to Japan. I was pleasantly shocked to discover a TexMex restaurant/bar this good, not too far from my house in Takatsu. I know my burrito cred isn't enough to make this statement worth but, "Hands down the best burritos I have ever tasted!" I like it better than Baja or Chipotle. Well, perhaps, it's just sooo wrong to compare this joint to a bunch of chain stores... I've eaten their Carne Asada Enchilada and Pork Carnitas Enchilada. Quality ingredients, tender meat.They are both good. However, I think prefer their Pork Carnitas b/c it was the first dish I ordered and it really made an impression on me. Like I said, I was shocked and overwhelmed! The service is good and friendly. I've only drank their draft beer but they have various kinds of alcohol. Oh, and they sell books too. I have been here twice and one thing that worries me is that it's not packed. I went in at lunch time around 2-3pm and I was the only customer there. Perhaps, that's not the case if I go a bit earlier and the evenings' are perhaps packed. Does the locales appreciate this place? Do they realize the the seriousness of the situation? I don't want it too packed :P but it will be a shame if it closes. Nearest sta is Musashi-Shinjo Sta and is a bit far away. Around 10m walk.

Went here after hearing about it from a co-worker. I'm originally from California, and have been suffering Mexican food withdrawals for the past few months. Well I'm happy to report my cravings for Mexican food have been satiated, for now at least. Ordered the Carne Asada fries, a carnitas quesadilla and a chicken burrito. Everything was excellent. It's probably as close to authentic Mexican food as you can get in Japan. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good burrito.

So I'll start with the food was good for what I got. I had the carne asada enchilada style burrito, a chicken quesadilla for the kids, chips and salsa, and chips with chili beans. The chips and salsa was infant sized might of had 8 chip in each chip dish and that's being generous. The chili beans and chips was good however the regular chips and salsa was a little bland to my taste. The carne asada burrito was good as well just the price point of almost $20 for a burrito that doesn't come with a side of beans and rice is a little pricey. Overall it's a ok to fix your craving for Mexican food while in Japan. It's definitely tucked away In Kawasaki and about hour drive from Ayase.

Cactus Burrito really IS an oasis hidden among the hustle and bustle of Tokyo life. The food is delicious and a must for any homesick American looking for a quick fix for their homesick cravings. I don't know how she gets the meat to taste so succulent and flavorful! For beer lovers, they have a fridge full of craft beer. For the rest of us, their liquor options are great and the smoothies are delicious! The staff are friendly and speak both Japanese and English. They are very friendly and always up for a chat. Very cool girls. :) The decor and music really add to the atmosphere and warmth of the restaurant. They even sell little treats from overseas. I have recommended this place to my friends and will continue to enjoy their delicious burritos!

Ordered the 2,000 yen steak burrito which was delicious! A little steep, and some beans and rice on the side would have made it better. Still, good eating.

Sorry but I'm Mexican ... and NOPE ... came 1 hr and a half away from Yokosuka base to try this place and NOPE ... ... margaritas are SHIT ! half a little cup filled with just ice and alchohol $5 for that .. (during happy hour) tiny place ... basic food not real carne asada ... almost $60 for fries a burrito and 2 drinks ... definitely not worth it!
