Cactus Cafe, Port Washington

5 stars! Solid food but the staff make it great and create a welcoming atmosphere. $6/$7 burritos after 10pm can’t possibly be a bad thing.

I can only hope the next full moon they open a location in Westchester !!! The dynamic colors are esthetically pleasing without being overwhelming. The food is fresh and simple and yet unique. I would like to see a virgin margaritas slushy on tap, lol. I highly recommend stopping and piging out.

I had to wait to have breakfast here first before I would give it a full review. The place is great. My favorite items are the house wings, any burrito or taco, and all the breakfast items. So basically the entire menu. The service is always great and we really appreciate that the first time we came for dinner and the first time we came for breakfast that the staff was patient with us and helped us understand the menu and options. The only knock I have is that the amazing corn and chicken chowder, refried beans, and guacamole are not consistent. The soup can be thick and creamy one day and the next time we have it is very thin. The same has happened with the beans and the guacamole. Make sure you sign up for their rewards program. We will be back.

I love the food, it's very good, and all the drinks in general... there's only one detail today I went to buy a rum punch and they changed the size... now it's much smaller 🥺 and I think it's expensive for that size

The place and the food are good, but there's a problem: if you arrive late when they're closing, even if you spend money on food, they won't let you use the restroom. They say the owner has forbidden it.

Ordered a shrimp burrito, all the shrimp had shells. I asked about it at the counter, and they said "that's just how we do it" like I was asking for something crazy. I guess you're supposed to pick it apart with knife and fork, individually shell all your sauce covered shrimp and then put it back together? Insane.

Went to eat one night and ordered a carne asada bowl and a garden burrito and it came out to 12 but I always tip so the total was 15 and change. As I finished my bowl I realized they gave me a carne asada taco instead of the garden burrito I ordered. It annoyed me especially because it was dead inside and I tipped and they managed to screw up my order. Also I called on a Tuesday a little after 10pm because that’s when the discounted burritos are available, they tell me to hold and then they hang up. I called again and the line was disconnected, not sure if the workers are annoyed of people calling for takeout after 10pm but they’re loosing out on tips. Been eating there since they opened and it’s not what it used to be.

The service was terrible. I ordered a bowl, and the cashier was very rude and took my order incorrectly they really need to take better care of their customer service, because it leaves a lot to be desired.

Ordered from here off Uber with a deal. That was some good food and Cactus got it right!!! Ordered the carne asada enchiladas for myself and hubby had the smoked pork enchiladas - My meal was totally delicious. The cheese melted with the refried beans was tasty and not heavy and the tomatillo sauce on the side that I ordered was definitely worth the .60 cents. So fresh and spicy ! I would order from here again.

We have been there for my lunch break a couple of times . I typically get the shrimp tacos and my husband likes the pulled pork burrito. The food is really good and affordable. The service is great there always so nice and the ambience is very cute and true to the culture of the food . We always get a small dessert to share and it's great . There's a huge parking lot seeing as it's in the center of a shopping center .

Affordable, especially after 10pm. $5 burritos and bowls! The nachos are great and if you're getting take out ask to have everything packed up separate so you can mix them yourself and they don't get soggy. They have an absolutely delicious corn soup, the house wings are spicy and good and you can grab a can or two of beer to go. Open till midnight and we go here a lot! Plenty of parking and easy to pickup or sit inside

Been coming here regularly in summer for several years now. This place is a 10 out of 10. The food and drinks (rum punch!) are awesome and the service is friendly.

Great rotisserie chicken and sides-the yellow sauce is the best!! Hibiscus drink is perfect accompaniment

This place was surprisingly delicious! My husband and I had a quick lunch here. We ordered the chips and salsa, which by the way the salsa was truly packed with flavor outstanding! Hibiscus tea was very refreshing. I sadly was not able to take a picture of the Carne Asada burrito that I had and my husband had the smoked brisket burrito. Both were really good and tasty. There was a slight hint of heat that was just perfect! Ambience was nice with music in the background, colorful decor and overall we had a great time!

Love this place, however, the last few weeks their yellow sauce tastes different (more oniony or sour, not as spicy) which is making me like it less. I don't know if it's a new recipe or what but please bring the original sauce back please.

Take out joint, food well cooked, tasty, and reasonably priced. My recommendation, order the black beans.

Terrible food & service . I ordered something and the cashier wasn't paying any attention which is unfortunate because this happens at every cactus cafe location. chips were over fried to the point where it was hurting our teeth, tacos drenched in sauce . When asking for a new taco the waitress seemed very bothered . The environment was also lacking, the lights kept flickering the whole time and no music was played . This is by far the worst catcus cafe i've been to.

Amazing fresh food. Friendly staff. Stopped in to grab lunch on a Sunday and was very pleased with the experience. Everything was well priced and delicious. Definitely will be back.

Ordered takeout. And delivery was hot in bag. Haven't been inside of the place, can't speak about the ambiance. Food that was received, wow awesome. Taste great and filling. What more to say, when it feels like you made the right choice for your evening! Keep it up great work, looking forward to ordering other dishes now.

I love this place an order frequently but the last two or three times I've ordered my order was completely wrong.

The food is very tasty and its always been hot/warm on arrival. The staff are nice and very accommodating. The service is quick and all orders that I have made here have been accurate. The environment of the restaurant is nice as its filled with all sorts of color and decorations. The place feels modern, clean, and it exudes that classic Tex-Mex feel. Overall, Cactus Cafe is one of my go-to's in Port Washington.

Best tortilla chips in town! Always cheap, reliable, and filling. Love their full moon specials and limeade!

Cactus Cafe is a total gem and I'm happy to support a local business that works hard to serve up good food and reasonable prices. It's one of the places in town that my fam of sausages can agree to go to unanimously. Burritos are solid, though the rice can use some more quality control, and the tacos are solid too. Love their chicken soup and can't go wrong with their quesadillas. Delivery is fast and everything is always packed securely. Even eating in at the store, when we were allowed to, is a fun time and the staff is really nice too. Side note: Door Dash however SUCKS ASS! Totally a waste of a delivery service. The delivery people are rude and have zero people skills. They left my big order on my doorstep but never called me or rang my doorbell or knocked on my door to say they were here. The restaurant has zero control over them so don't blame them for door dashes faults.

Once again, can't decide what ingredients they'll put on anything for delivery. Ordered refried bean tacos which used to come with beans, cheese, and pico on a flour shell. Now, they come with old corn tortillas, lettuce, and no cheese.

Good burrito, tasty and okay prices. Lunch deal is the way to go. Will go there again.

Brightly colored restaurant with roomy booths, an extensive menu, and friendly service. Food was affordable and delicious. Kid-friendly space, and all-gender restrooms. Especially enjoyed the freshly grilled shrimp and fried fish in the soft tacos. Chicken burrito with cheese and sour cream was full of flavor. Restaurant is across the street from the cute walking path along the bay.

The person In charge of making sure the correct orders go out to the correct place should be fired. I got the wrong order delivered to me, devastation is an understatement. I had never been more excited then immediately more disappointed then ever. Fast service tho

Glad to have Cactus Cafe finally in Port. Used to go to the one in Glen Cove, but this one is closer. The prices are really great and portions large. I like the 24 smoked cactus wings for $16.50 and their $22 two whole rotisserie chickens with 3 large sides! They also have so many meat options here! I like the carne asada, smoked pork, smoked brisket for tacos and enchiladas. Also they have Texas style bbq chicken and ribs. I look forward to trying their breakfast too.

Incredibly inconsistent. I feel like the few times I've gone, the ingredients they have on the menu are not what they put in their dishes. Something is always missing. Decided to give them another shot tonight. What a waste of money! It was delicious the first time I ate there, haven't had a good meal since.

** Take Out Only ** Office staff and I ordered a couple of times here. We love the feature of choosing a day/time you want to pick up your order. We've ordered Chicken quesadilla - flat, shredded chicken, cheesy, not much flavor except the toppings you choose. Beef quesadilla - same as chicken quesadilla except filled with shredded beef. Peruvian chicken - lots of season, nicely roasted, not so dry, tasty. Smoked chicken - ample amount smoked flavor, juicy, unique bbq taste. Salad - fresh: lettuce, shredded carrot, cucumbers, black olives, tomatoe and guac on top! Refried beans - basically bean purée, good. Smoked beans - light smoky flavor, not too sweet, tasty. Mexican rice - nothing special, can taste overly dry. Salsa - fresh, spice level just right, but skimpy. Wings - Buffalo, bbq, cactus house : all tasty sauces, sauced enough, meaty wangs. Jalapeño cornbread - 2 huge pieces, nicely buttered, crispy topping, faint Jalapeño flavor, not too dry. Waited after a few orders to review this place... Based on brief pick-up orders, staff has always been welcoming, helpful and friendly. You can see a good portion of them cooking / preparing food - pleased with their level of sanitary/hygienic work flow. Taste wise, they aren't the best of the best, but pretty delicious to my surprise. Service is fast and staff friendly. Reccomend!

Love this place. Have been getting their food since before they moved to Port Washington, and I used to drive to Glen Cove late night just to get from this place. I have never been dissatisfied with them. Definitely recommend.

Very happy to have cactus cafe in port Washington, as you couldn't find a good burrito nearby before this opened it. I enjoy the chicken and steak burritos and the quesadillas are good too. One of my kids dislikes onions and is very disappointed with cactus cafe because they can't make anything without onions since it seems to be mixed into the steak burrito or quesadillas no matter what. Would be great if they fixed that :)

The food at cactus cafe is quite good, but it's main selling point comes from it being a major source of the night life in the nearby area. It's half priced burritos after 10pm provide fantastic late night snacks for anyone in the area. Their burritos are good quality and the service ranges from quite fast to nearly instant. Their complimentary condiments are quite good as well. Definitely a must-eat for anyone out in the area late at night.

I'm going back soon. This was my first time at Cactus Cafe. Picked up some chicken corn chowder and a chorizo enchilada. They were delicious. The counter service was excellent. The portions were generous. Can't believe I waited so long to try CC.

We just ordered for delivery after forgetting how bad the last experience we had the previous year. Forgetting that they got the order wrong, this food is inedible and my whole family have stomach aches. Bad food quality and horrible presentation. And I'm annoyed that I had to give this place even one star

Got breakfast as I promised I would in my last review. I got the carne asada breakfast taco and the brisket breakfast taco. The meat was fresh. The eggs well seasoned. All it was missing was some pico de gallo. Better experience this time and for $2 each you can't go wrong.

It's a small spot in Port Washington, NY that's great for anyone looking to get late night food in that area (most places in Port Washington close around 9pm, but they stay open until midnight). They also have some really dope deals like $5 burritos every day after 10pm.

Its a very nice ambiance, colorful, and clean. Unfortunately I ordered wings asked for all flats, and ended up getting mixed wings. They were very crispy but dry because they didn't have enough of the actual buffalo sauce. On some of them they weren't cooked all the way through.

Okay honestly... I've been a patron at cactus cafe (sea cliff) wayyy before they opened the port one... and I have to say the port location absolutely sucks ! The people working there are sooooo rude. No one even says hello to you when you walk in the door. They make you wait 5 minutes at the counter before they come and ask you "what do you want" and it's not just one person they are all rude and totally not friendly. My tacos are always slopped on and / burritos / chips actually anything I order come out cold. Sauce containers never filled always look dirty, never any napkins in the holder. The customer service and quality suck at PW. I came to the place on seacliff again for the first time in probably 2 years and I had a wonderful experience. Tacos were steaming hot people were welcoming and friendly as always. Sea cliff location has always been 5 stars. Port is terrible. Please hire better people for PW !

Have ordered from here a few times, and I would say it's the best restaurant for mexican take-out in the neighborhood. From what we've had the chicken enchiladas and chicken quesadillas are excellent. I also like their steak burrito, and really anything with their black beans, which are done very well.The nachos are good - and when you order them for delivery/take-out they package all the nacho toppings separate from the chips, so you do have to do a little preparation before eating, but it's well worth it to avoid soggy chips. The rotisserie chicken is also great, especially for the price - you get to include 3 sides (make sure to get the mexican rice and black beans, you won't regret it). The 1-star reduction comes for the fish tacos which were not at all on the same page as all the other good food we have had from here. So as long as you avoid the fish tacos, you'll definitely have a good meal.

Chicken tacos were slamming! And the Limeade was just like how someone's granny were to make it. Only thing I'd suggest to add to the Santa Fe salad is incorporate a dressing. If it wasn't that i asked for guacamole on top it would have been way to dry for my liking. Overall it was a good experience. Place is nicely decorated and who doesn't love listening to salsa while you eat!

Ordered lunch with my co workers from this awesome place! I ordered the half chicken with sides of jalapeño Corn bread, mixed vegetables that were seasoned and delicious and a side salad. My colleagues ordered the quesadilla and burrito bowl everyone loved the lunch will order again!

Port Washington has a number of decent Mexican restaurants but Cactus is a welcome addition for a number of reasons. The food is incredibly fresh. They use fresh ingredients and the spices in the sauces are excellent. The house smoked chicken wings are phenomenal, as are the tacos. The arroz con pollo was delicious. The guac was also really good. The prices are very reasonable as well. The service was a little slow and I assumed that part of the reason for the delay is the items are cooked fresh. There have been some comments about the service. This is a new restaurant and they are working out the kinks so give them some time to improve the service. My recommendation for the owner/operator would be to focus more on the customer. I've stood at the register while the people behind the counter are having long conversations and not paying attention to the customers. Focus on the customer! If you train your folks to do that, you will be an enormous success.

Big order, no mistakes, everything was delicious... will order again soon. Called earlier and whoever I spoke with was very helpful and her recs were spot on.

Very good burritos and yellow sauce is great. Carne Asada is my favorite. Enchiladas aren't good, the rice was hard and just tasted like cheese over rice. But burritos are delicious.

I thought I just posted my review, but just in case. The food was GREAT!! I ordered 1 whole chicken, 12 wings with house sauce and guacamole . The staff was super friendly from taking theorizer to. curbside delivery. I will definitely be back soon..

Best Mexican spot on Long Island by a Long Shot! Try the Chicken Burrito, Chips & Queso, Rice, Black Beans, Everything Str8 delish.
