UPDATED REVIEW (Saturday January15th, 2022 3:50 p.m.)
I came from Venice to Echo Park to my favorite cactus store to get a cactus repotted because it was a very dear Mamilaria that a friend had given me and which sadly, fell off the porch and whose pot broke and whose original native soil from Mexico had spilled all over the floor. I came because I had received stellar treatment in the past and thought I would have another awesome experience.
Upon arrival, I was greeted by a updated store entrance, a beautiful maze of desert-esque pots and potential homes for any cactus of any size. I exited the maze to arrive at an outdoor room of wild varieties of cacti from around the world. The young woman who was working had just finished helping another guest with their shopping needs and asked me and another gentleman: "Who's next?"
Upon seeing the cactus in my left hand and the new pot I had bought in my right, she immediately said: "I'm not doing any planting today." I stood there puzzled as to why she wasn't doing any re-planting and the answer I received was: "Because I'm not doing that today. You can come back tomorrow or another day, but I'm not re-planting today."
I was really taken aback, because I did not expect to have this type of an experience from my favorite Cactus Store where I have had re-planting done on 8 or so different instances over the last 4 years. It would have taken 5 minutes to re-plant my beloved mamilaria. But that's okay. I can take my business elsewhere. I will tell my friends to do the same.
This place used to be good. I guess, Post-Covid, it's just not the same. I won't be back.
