"For Designers and Lovers of Design In D.C.’s Georgetown neighborhood, Cady’s Alley is a cluster of shops and design firms specializing in high-end home furnishings, kitchens, and baths. If you’re a jewelry lover, head to JewelersWerk—they offer one-of-a-kind, contemporary design pieces. The pedestrian-only alley part of Cady’s Alley is reminiscent of a European shopping street. If you want to escape from the hustle and bustle of the main shopping area of Georgetown, come here. Do a bit of window shopping and then take a break at Kafe Leopold Konditorei, a nice Austrian eatery located in the center of the alley. You really can’t go wrong with a well-brewed cup of coffee and a pastry."

One of the most beautiful alleys in Washington, D.C. is steeped in history. A historic alley home to warehouses, stables, workshops, and alley homes, the alley is now Georgetown's Design District with local and national brands and a popular cafe. The cobblestone still paves the alley and many of its buildings have remnants of the past. Can you find the two horse statues on one of its buildings? It's also a great alley to plan spot as airplanes land at nearby National Airport.

Pretty trendy area at the start of M Street in Georgetown. Yet it is not noisy, you don't hear the M Street noise. Has several high-end restaurants and cafes. If you can't find parking, it is very convenient.

Cozy, hidden oasis quietly tucked away from the bustling of M Street and rambunctious students and tourists, elegantly decorated with a small stair winding down to some nice bars, restaurants and club. Prices are reasonable but slightly on the higher end. Worth exploring as it offers a unique ambience almost reminesced of the small nooks and crannies of Europe's medieval streets and cafes.

Great group at this bike shop. They are knowledgeable and helpful. Plus, I love their location. Easy access if coming over the key bridge going into Georgetown. Just take a right at the 2nd traffic light.

Unique, upscale environment. It really is an alley in Georgetown. This short alley is lined with nice stores on both sides, which makes for a fun shopping experience. There is an especially lovely eatery with both indoor and outdoor seating. They don't have parking and there is no Metrorail nearby. However, bus service is easy to readily available.

Kafe Leopold is the best Austrian Restaurant in the D.C. Region!

We came for deserts and coffee. So Austrian coffee is regular Americano ). The deserts are good, but nothing too special or authentic. For example Zaher cake is very different from the one you can find even in the Austrian airport. Location is great though. Both outside and inside seating, very modern, stylish, clean.

The hidden gem 💎 of Georgetown. It's probably the cutest alley you'll ever find in Washington DC. Definitely recommend walking through it as you'll stumble upon one of my favorite restaurants, Kafe Leopold 😀. The street is a bit narrow but that's the charm in it 😁 so definitely wear appropriate shoes 👟 for a journey through an alley you don't want to miss.

Yelp
The alley divides a sidewalk and businesses. You can walk through, if you don't mind stairs or take the elevator. There are retail businesses and restaurants.

Yelp
Looking for inspiration on a rainy Sunday in Georgetown? Longing to fantasize about your dream kitchen - the one you'd design if you won the lottery? Or try on a pair of $295 flip flops? Look no further than Cady's Alley! Even my most fashion-forward friend (who was visiting from NYC) was impressed. "I don't even feel like I'm in DC," she said, without any hint of irony, as we browsed. Cady's Alley has the usual high-end home furnishings suspects as well as apparel and jewelery stores like Relish and Jewelers' Werk Galerie.

Yelp
A beautiful entry into some hidden treasures. (see Heather H.'s list!) It doesn't feel like DC or Georgetown, it definitely has a vibe of it's own! I love the decor in the entry/alleyway to this great neighborhood gem!

Yelp
Cady's Alley is a nice little cobblestone alley near Georgetown's Chesapeake & Ohio Canal. They have a few interior design shops there with expensive furnishings. Finish your stroll by dining at Leopold's Kafe! There's also a bicyle rental shop here.

Yelp
Filling my new home has been fun but also overwhelming at times. This is a great area to check out furnishings, either to purchase or even just for ideas when you're in a design rut. Heather H already put together a great list of stores, so I'll just credit her and re-paste here: Ann Sacks Artefacto Baker Furniture Bulthaup Collectibles Gallery Contemporaria Design within Reach Gore Dean Illuminations, Inc. Leopold's Kafe Konditorei Ligne Roset M2L Poggenpohl Random Harvest Studio Relish Thos. Moser Cabinetmakers Waterworks

Yelp
This is a quaint little alley on the outside, filled with overpriced (to me, anyway) -- but fascinating -- design stores of all types inside. Clothes, jewelry, furniture, lighting, etc., it's all here in nice red brick and glass buildings. It's a nice place to wander through . . . particularly if you're ready for dessert and can stop at Leopold's Kafe!
