Had a chance to spend a morning with the Farrel family, walking their Holly Oak orchard and looking for black truffles with Lolo and her companion Alana. Thought this was the highlight of the day until we returned to the tasting room for a pizza and wine pairing. As Brian Jr. put it, there are literally hundreds of wineries and tasting rooms in Paso, so you have to create interesting experiences if you're going to draw folks in. This experience was one of the best we've had in more than 30 years of visiting Paso Robles. Their wines were very fine examples of the region, but I would highly recommend the Syrah. Brian spent a few years working in Australia and developed a real fondness for Shiraz... and it shows. This wine, sourced from one of the classic West Side vineyards (Denner), is an absolute delight. Watching this family create an innovative and delightful (delicious) experience in Paso Robles (and Templeton) was pure joy. Whether you're from the Valley or Santa Barbara, stop in at their amazing winery and tasting room and get some of these wines in your hands... And tell them Brice and Erin sent you.
