How to Celebrate the Holidays at US Wineries

"Truffle season is in full swing in Templeton, and at the Caelesta Wines Truffle Hunt + Wine Tasting you can let the estate’s truffle dog follow its nose and dig up fresh seasonal truffles, then head to the tasting room for a flight of five wines. Saturdays, Dec. 13, Jan. 10, and Jan. 31, $128." - Katie Kelly Bell

What a fun and relaxed winery with a passionate owner and clean refreshing wines!Beautifully peaceful atmosphere and wonderfully welcoming family owned winery. Brian, the winemaker is onsite and delightfully passionate about wine. Their Apogee Cab Sirah was rich in balanced flavor while light and refreshing to the palate. They offer truffle hunts on certain days, so sign up in advance.

Loved our wine tasting experience here! It was nice to meet Brian, the winemaker, and hear his story.

Had a chance to spend a morning with the Farrel family, walking their Holly Oak orchard and looking for black truffles with Lolo and her companion Alana. Thought this was the highlight of the day until we returned to the tasting room for a pizza and wine pairing. As Brian Jr. put it, there are literally hundreds of wineries and tasting rooms in Paso, so you have to create interesting experiences if you're going to draw folks in. This experience was one of the best we've had in more than 30 years of visiting Paso Robles. Their wines were very fine examples of the region, but I would highly recommend the Syrah. Brian spent a few years working in Australia and developed a real fondness for Shiraz... and it shows. This wine, sourced from one of the classic West Side vineyards (Denner), is an absolute delight. Watching this family create an innovative and delightful (delicious) experience in Paso Robles (and Templeton) was pure joy. Whether you're from the Valley or Santa Barbara, stop in at their amazing winery and tasting room and get some of these wines in your hands... And tell them Brice and Erin sent you.

We spent a lovely afternoon talking with Brian and Justin. Both are very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines. We will definitely be back!

Google
Always a great experience when my wife and I go up there. Beautiful views from the vineyard and very serene. Went to the truffle hunt event and it was very cool and the wine has always been exceptional. a Must join and become a member of the wine.

We had an incredible tasting with Dale! He described the wine-making process, the significance of the region, and their philosophy so eloquently. Then Brian, the winemaker, came out and recounted his story into wine. Overall, a delightful experience with a talented team!

Google
Outstanding wines. Great ownership and staff. We will visit here until we can't! Highly, highly recommend. Whenever in Paso, you must stop by, make a reservation if possible. Top shelf and limited release wines. Oh, I just got back, and you gotta try their truffle butter

Caelesta 2019 APOGEE was one of the very nice wine we had. We were in Italy(Tuscany) trying different types of wine during our holiday. Luckily I was given this bottle to try and It was so smooth to drink. Sadly I can't get this wine in UK!!!

Yelp
Came here because they had a pizza vendor that we liked serving pizza. This place was awesome. Everyone there was so friendly. Met Denise the wine owner who was very sweet and made us feel right at home with our young daughter. Winemaker was Denise's son and he has a lot of talent. All the wines we tried were excellent. My favorite was the estate syrah. Nice balance with a little fruit forwardness. The wine tasting room was really modern looking vmbut very relaxing and inviting. Great views of the vineyard. After attempting to get a bottle we decided we liked the place so much we became members. Definitely recommend checking this place out. I am so happy to be a member here. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Another amazing winery and vineyard. It's not so big but it does pack a punch with its wine and the amazing truffle butter and cracker. It was amazing. The service was excellent. Our host was superb and oh so friendly. It was like hanging out with friends and drinking loads of wine. But with knowledge. The tasting menu was excellent with the wine choices. Each one was unique in its own way. Full of body and flavors. I prefer reds but everything was tasty. Of course, some bottles had to be purchase to enjoy back home. Excellent wine and the amazing truffle butter was a perfect addition to everything.

Yelp
The wines at Caelesta are next level for the Paso Robles region. Brian Farrell Jr is a young talented winemaker making everything from Cabernet to GSM to Chardonnay on his family property. Absolutely gorgeous tasting room with a bocce ball court out back. Not stuffy or pretentious at all. Reservations not required but appreciated. You won't want to miss this one and it's worth venturing to the east side of Templeton to experience it. Oh one other fun thing... they inoculated their oak trees with black truffle and have truffle hunts followed by special lunches and dinners with the truffles during the winter season. So if you're looking for a unique paso experience, book a truffle hunt

Yelp
We absolutely loved our stop here for a tasting. Wine is incredible, the view is unbeatable. Justin took care of us, and by far one of our favorite stops. Make it a point to come here.

John H.

Yelp
Our tasting room host Justin was outstanding, super friendly and made our experience at Caelesta special. Extremely knowledgeable about wine and the Paso Robles AVAs. The Caelesta wines are outstanding. The owner Brian and his son Brian came over and introduced themselves and were very friendly. Brian jr. gave us recommendations for additional wine tasting and food in the Santa Barbara and Los Olivos area. Thank you for a great afternoon.

Yelp
Wonderful tasting room in Paso Robles! Located a bit off the main square, this gem should absolutely not be missed. Every wine we tasted from the tasting menu was unlike anything we'd ever had before, each one packing bright flavors and unique profiles. We immediately bought 2 that we cannot wait to try again later - the 2019 templeton gap and the 2018 Cab sav/petit sirah blend. I believe all the grapes are locally sourced, and are blended together in such marvelous ways. Friendly somm--absolutely look forward to coming back next time we're in town.

Yelp
Super nice staff. Really pleasant outdoor back patio. Younger red wine that all comes in at 75.00. So, you'd better expect and enjoy somewhat one dimensional wine. I probably wouldn't revisit based on the large number of other wineries with comparable wine at 50.00...

Yelp
I LOVE these wines and Brian is absolutely amazing. He's knowledgeable and personable - I highly recommend this tasting room to anyone looking for quality wines in a cool, convenient location. Cheers!

Yelp
What a beautiful place. So modern and peaceful. We tried the white and rose - both were fantastic. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We'll definitely be heading back!

Yelp
Phenomenal wines and a beautiful space. I expected to love the red blends (which I do!) but have become a huge fan of the white and Rose as well. Bought some GSM which we poured at Thanksgiving dinner to rave reviews. Can't wait to visit again!

Yelp
In a sea of good wines in the area, Caelesta stands out. Dale was wonderful and guided us through a very impressive lineup at their modern and very comfortable tasting room in Paso Robles. We are fans of Rhone varietals and they are plentiful in this area. We knew we were in for a special treat when we started with their Rose. Many local wineries don't seem to put as much effort into it, just an option to their reds. This one was beautiful and complex, obviously made with care and love. Everything we had was definitely a cut above most and their GSM was one of the best we've had. Can't wait to check out the estate in Templeton. This area of the Templeton Gap produces some excellent wines.

Yelp
What a freakin gem! Wine is as solid as an asteroid and as smooth as Barry Manilow hittin the right notes. The '18 GSM was everything and more to desire. If your downtown walk just a few more steps past Spring St. and get your ass in here, you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
My husband and I are visiting Paso from Sonoma County, and really wanted to try some good central cal wines. Well, we found better than good. A huge thank you to Britta, the manager at Caelesta. She made such a great experience for us, she was so informative about the wines, the family, wine maker and the area. She was passionate about this industry, but also spoke to us like we have known her for years. And the wine..... sells itself. Highly recommend. Also we'd love to come back when the winery is up and running, especially for the truffle hunt! We'll be back!

Yelp
Brian Jr. is making excellent Rhone varietals in the Paso Robles area. He has a beautiful estate in the Templeton area, so if you are interested in an estate tour and tasting, I highly recommend. The estate is beautiful with amazing views. This is a tasting you want to do if you have some time. Caelesta also has a downtown tasting room next Il Cortile restaurant. It's a great space and allows for an intimate tasting experience. If you are staying in downtown Paso in the square, this is a great tasting room you can walk to. I highly recommend all of the wines, but my favorites are the Chardonnay and Viognier blend and the Petit Syrah.

Kathie H.

Yelp
We had a nice time at the winery and liked the wine. We should have stopped there. We ordered wine to be delivered to an address different from the credit card billing address. The wine was not delivered when it had been requested. Multiple calls and emails, including the correct shipping address were not answered. The wine was finally sent to the billing address (we are not currently there) and left on the front porch in 90+ degree heat. Calls are still not being returned. Order at your own risk!

Tom M.

Yelp
What an amazing winery! This is our absolute favorite winery in Paso. Brian and Dale were amazing, almost as good as the wine. Every wine we sampled was extraordinary. Hadn't planned on joining any other wine clubs but we joined this one. Do not miss it if you are going to be anywhere near Paso Robles!

Jeff S.

Yelp
My wife and I happened onto this tasting room by chance outside the main square. It was very near closing time but Brian (winemaker) graciously spent a long time with us describing his wine, his story and the wine making process. He was very humble, nice and informative. On top of that, the wines were delicious! Brian even hand-delivered our box of wine to our hotel since we had walked to his shop that afternoon! Well worth a visit for some very delicious wines.
