Visited today with family and had a fantastic time! Having visited a number of castles over the years, I was really impressed with how well kept the entire castle was without losing it's history. It is an immense place to explore with loads of intact towers and ramparts to explore and get unbelievable views over the town. The entry fee is very reasonable and they offer a range of discounts including free carer tickets and blue light discount. Inside the ground is uneven which is to be expected but efforts have been made to create ramps where possible to make it slightly wheelchair accessible. Inside the grounds you will also find a cafe and toilets. I do want to make a special mention of the Changing Places disabled toilet. The fact that there is a place that you can take any disabled person and easily change them is amazing and deserves a special mention. The fact that you have a full size adult changing bed with hoist is a fantastic facility to have. The castle doesn't have dedicated parking however there is a pay and display car park right next to the castle so it might as well be considered dedicated parking.

Was hard to find parking, while walking up to castles, lots of places to eat/ shop. They had audio guided tours, a video explaining the castle, you are able to climb the tower ruins, and there is a museum of badges of honor, as well as a military museum. The staff was friendly, and told us to see the video first, and where to go after. This is one of my favorites, out of the seven, I visited. Explained about the ties with The Prince of Wales. Very informative.

This is a great castle to visit! A few more slightly finished rooms allow you to get more of a sense of how things would have looked than some other castles we’ve visited. There are also some rooms with more of an actual exhibit in them that help teach some of the history as well. Interesting to learn about the ceremony that took place here when Charles was invested as Prince of Wales. Great views from the top walls and turrets! There is also a very in depth museum about the Royal Welch Fusiliers inside the castle walls.

Fabulous place, wear good comfortable shoes there are lots of steps which are obviously, old, worn, wet, steep, narrow etc but worth the climb up the towers, museum in one part, lovely new sculptures dotted about the place. Little outdoor cafe area for drinks, sandwiches and cakes which is very reasonably priced, 2 coffees and 2 cakes for £10. We were there over 2 hours but could have spent more time, if you only want to go up a couple of towers do 2 at opposite ends to get different views and perspectives. Little shop sells lovely locally handmade items as well as usual Cadw/English Heritage pencils etc. Well worth a visit and Caernarfon town looking good too, especially the area within the castle walls. Car park is in the shadow of the castle, see pictures for price, public toilets in car park as well

What an absolutely amazing castle. So much to see and do within the castle, from views to interactive experiences. Be prepared for a lot of steps, but well worth it. So many amazing views, from lots of different view points. Lovely cafe within the castle, great for refreshments, especially after all the steps. Very clean toilets in the castle too. The Royal Welsh Fusilier Regimental Museum is a must to visit while at the castle, all included in your castle admission fee. So much history about the Regiment, lovely to see and learn about it all. The castle even has modern features, like an access elevator at the Kings Gate. Could of easily spent a few days seeing everything the castle has to offer, but managed to get the majority in while there. The gift shop is a must in the Regimental Museum and the larger gift shop in the castle. Overall, fantastic value for money.

A Truly Inclusive Gem – Caernarfon Castle As a disabled visitor using an electric wheelchair, I can say without hesitation that my experience at Caernarfon Castle was absolutely unforgettable — and deeply emotional in the best way possible. From the moment I arrived, I felt seen, welcomed, and respected. Entry was free of charge for disabled guests, a gesture that instantly set the tone for an inclusive and thoughtful visit. The accessibility features at the castle far exceeded my expectations: the lift to the top of the iconic Eagle Tower (known locally as the "bottlenecks") was not just functional — it was liberating. For the first time, I got to enjoy those breathtaking views and imagine the stories that echoed through the fortress walls, just like any other visitor would. A particularly moving highlight was meeting Trevor, a passionate and knowledgeable volunteer who shared the castle’s history with kindness and sincerity. His storytelling brought the past to life in a way that was engaging and personal. The adjoining Royal Welch Fusiliers Museum was another treasure — offering a fascinating look into military heritage, all presented in a way that was accessible and welcoming. But what truly stayed with me was the overwhelming gratitude I felt for everyone who made this possible. From thoughtful design to empathetic staff, Caernarfon Castle is a beacon of what accessibility should look like. I left with happy tears — humbled by the care and respect shown to visitors like me. Highly recommended, not just for the history, but for the heart. Thank you just doesn't seem to covert it.

Our party of 4 loved it, but my 76 Yr old mum did find the turrets intimidating so only ventured up 1. There is a lift in the new section so she was able to view the castle from high up, which is well worth doing, as the views of the grounds & the estuary are awesome. Our 4 & 2 year old loved exploring the different rooms & museum. We had a great time here!

Google
Excellent castle to visit. Very informative and you could go up lots of the wall walks and to the highest towers. Some nice displays as well even if the heritage history is misleading. 5 stars as they have made a lot of this medieval castle wheel chair accessible, including a lift up to the Kings Gate . They have managed to do this very sympathetically to the castle as well Definitely worth a visit and I think I spent a good 4 or more hours there.

Yelp
Caernarfon castle is an incredible well preserved castle that you can spend a good half day walking around and taking everything in

Yelp
Caernarfon Castle was quite a reward after a long rainy drive through North Wales and the Snowdonia wildlife area. The weather was overcast and rainy, but the woman at the entrance was all sunshine! She advised me to get a 3 day adventure pass to save money and made recommendations for other locations for us to visit. After such a warm reception, we headed into the damp stone fortress -- the castle is huge and there are loads of places to explore. You could spend a lot of time in just the military history museum which is over 3 or 4 floors in one of the more complete towers with artifacts and multimedia presentations. The castle has plenty of stairs that lead up to high walkways and the views - even on an overcast day - amazing scenery. We really enjoyed this visit and highly recommend this castle on your list!

Yelp
This castle is a medieval fortress created by King Edward I, and it is a World Heritage site. My husband had remarked that this was a proper castle, what you think of when you hear the word, and it is probably my favorite of the several castles that we visited on this trip.

Yelp
Take the time exploring Caernarfon Castle. This is a large site with many historic displays for the visitor to consider. The overwhelming history, the massive construction of the castle deserves the time to explore at your leisure and enjoy. The views from the top of the castle walls are worth the difficult narrow stairways and crowds to endure. Note: This is a difficult site for the mobility challenged. The narrow stairways and large crowds can make navigating this site a challenge. However, if you stick to the grounds and the museum, you can still get an overall feel of this historic castle.

Yelp
When I was growing up each morning when I opened my curtains I used to catch a glimpse of one corner of Conwy castle. Because of this Conwy is my favourite castle but I have to admit that Caernarfon castle is the most impressive castle in North Wales. It's much bigger than Conwy so there's more to explore and see. Unlike Conwy some parts of the castle have been renovated so you get some idea of what it was like to live there 700 years ago. There are plenty of corridors and steps to explore although I did find that many either lead to dead ends or locked doors so you often find yourself retracing your footsteps. There are also several exhibitions spread about the castle. One of the towers has a mini cinema which shows a 23 minute film every half hour. The film traces the history of North West Wales from the time the Romans first established a fort at Segontium. In another tower you'll find an exhibition covering Prince Charles' inaugauration as Prince of Wales. The throne used in the ceremony is on display here. Best of all is the Royal Welch Fusiliers museum which holds articles tracing the history of the regiment back to it's formation in 1689. Exhibits include tunics, hats, guns and medals including a number of Victoria Crosses. All in all this castle is well worth a visit.

Yelp
Well you certainly get your money's worth in this castle - if you were paying by the step that is . I think the previous owner had a stairs and corridor fetish - there are loads of them! Great castle, good fitness workout, fantastic views of the sea and town, well worth a visit. Few nice exhibitions thrown in too. Castell hyfryd i ymweld â.

Yelp
Interesting tour of the castle. Wonderfully laid out with loads of historical 'educational' material to read explaining the conception of the 'Prince of Wales' over the ages. You could spend hours in this building climbing the steep stone stairs to the battlements and towers. Worth the trek up just to take in the views of the surrounding landscape.

Yelp
Spectacular, even if it's not finished! I was surprised at some of the technical details--the combined arrow loops that provide much better cover and allow more archers to fire from one loop and the amazing security of the King's Gate amongst others. The displays were informative and the staff very friendly and helpful. The only downside was of course the endless procession of narrow stairways, many of the cirrcular, that my bad knees rebeled at. It occurs to me that now, some 400 years down the way, since Eddie I's castles have become tourist attractions, He's finally done something nice for the Welsh.

Yelp
Glorious to see and experience. Be careful climbing the spiral staircases. The views are spectacular and worth the climb. If you are in North Wales don't miss this stunning castle!

Yelp
As a castle enthusiast i cn honesty tell you this is one of the largest complex castles in the world . Built by Edward to control and intimidate the Welsh it was never completely finished but even so is a magnificent enclosure castle with high walls riddled with tunnels held together with huge towers . And amazingly good value too .

Yelp
Caernarfon Castle is one of the series of castles Edward I build ringing Wales. In more modern times, it was used for the investiture of Prince Charles as Prince of Wales in 1969. There is a lot of history here! It's a beautiful rustic castle, right in the heart of Caernarfon. It's been several years since I've been there, but I think of it often. It is perhaps my favorite of the castles I've visited.

Yelp
A castle I really enjoyed visiting. I found it really interesting to learn about with lots of information that was provided and information in the guide book. There are a number of exhibitions in the castles towers. Caernarfon Castle is architecturally one of the most impressive of all of the castles in Wales.

Yelp
I had a really good day out here. The castle is really well preserved so you can see a lot of how life was here. There is an interesting bit about Prince Charles' investiture which took place within the castle grounds. A new bridge has opened in the last day or two which allows much easier access for people with limited mobility.

Yelp
I absolutely loved exploring this castle for a day. It was SO worth the 1.5hour bus ride from Llandudno. The bus ride itself was magical. Yes, magical. How lucky are the Welsh, to get to ride through amazing medieval architecture, enjoy the beautiful Irish Sea on one side and never-ending greenery on the other? The castle is SO worth your time and money. Prepare to spend the whole day there. You will lose yourself in the different towers and chambers and hidden paths and bridges and be transported back to centuries ago. Stunning exhibits, lots of interactive audio and visual displays and if you're a history buff like me, you will be in heaven. The souvenir stores are great but my favorite is the small one in the castle itself, as opposed to the right of the entrance. The staff was so warm and helpful and volunteered interesting trivia. The city itself is charming. A kabob store right where you alight from the no. 5 bus, a quaint bar behind the castle and several souvenir shops with anything and everything Welsh. Left my heart in Wales. For sure.

Yelp
Fantastic. When I visited the UK, we had the most fun in Wales. The Welsh are great people and this place is a great stop. It is worth going to Wales just to see the Snowdonia mountains.

Yelp
By far the most complete castle I've visited in North Wales. You can access the majority of the castle and it's views are astonishing. Prices are good and the experience is unforgettable. Take a good half day to explore the castle. Immerse yourself in history and imagine the exhilaration, fear and disorientation the soldiers would have felt when they were called to action stations.

Yelp
A lovely castle to visit. Very enjoyable it you love learning about history and life. Its in the heart of caernarfon and is one of the main attraction in the area, especially for the reason that prince charles was investitured there. Its epecially lovely in the evening when they put all the sourounding light on, it makes it look majnifisant. It lovely to take the children there but I think the would benefit it more when they are going up to high school as they will appritiate it more.
