Best Places to Spot Wildlife in South Carolina

"Caesars Head State Park is known for the great hawk migration from September to November. The best views are obtained by hiking the Raven Cliff Falls trail to see the 420-foot falls and surrounding forest." - Travel + Leisure Editors

This place was amazing, but also a little disappointing at the same time. We drove four and a half hours from home to where we were staying, and then another 50 minutes from there to get to the park, where we originally planned to hike the Raven Cliff Falls Trail. However, after parking and walking just a minute to the overlook, it suddenly started raining. We had arrived in the late morning, but heavy rain was forecast to last past 4 PM. We weren’t prepared for the sudden change in mountain weather. We waited for about an hour hoping it would stop, but eventually had to head back down. Even though our time at the park was very short, the view from the summit was absolutely breathtaking! If you plan to visit, I highly recommend bringing waterproof hiking shoes and a rain jacket.

Everytime we come visit near South Carolina and North Carolina, this is the first place we go!🤩 This astonishing overlook has impeccable views, and a short boardwalk trail that leads up to the overlook. There also is a special overlook in the “Devil’s Kitchen” overlook, where you walk down a set of stairs into the overlook, which then becomes a mini trail. There is a mini gift shop nearby, which I definitely recommend visiting. There are many different souvenirs to buy and even a free mini nature exhibit in the gift shop to view. This is one of my favorite places in the country to see! Can’t wait to come back 😌

First time there. Was breathtaking. Some people feel the need to spray paint the rock one walks on but the view is great. Nice gift shop and parking lot is good sized. Not everything is handicap accessible though. Some is but not all. Overall, was worth it for my family to stop. State Park fee required.

Wow what a experience! The view is fantastic. We also took a moment to check out Devils Kitchen. It was hot outside and the rocks were cold. It felt great to lean against them.

I love stopping here. There's an overlook view from the visitor center/gift shop parking lot. It's worth it to talk to the employees in the gift shop before going to the overlook. It's absolutely breathtaking

Clean restrooms and Wi-Fi from there visitor center. Lots of parking. Just 20 minutes from pretty place chapel. You could see clouds under you and over you. Breathtaking view.

The outlook right up top is very cool! And hells kitchen is a neat (and very very short) little walk. The hike across the road, i can't remember the name, but that sucked. Best thing was a flat rock waterfall that you couldn't see much of, with hardly any view. At least not a good hike if you are hoping for a view. I would not hike it again for free, let alone pay $3 to hike it 😂
