Best Places to Spot Wildlife in South Carolina

"Caesars Head State Park is known for the great hawk migration from September to November. The best views are obtained by hiking the Raven Cliff Falls trail to see the 420-foot falls and surrounding forest." - Travel + Leisure Editors

We came for a quick trip to see some of the Fall foliage being new to South Carolina, it was about an hour drive from our home. The road up to Caesar's Head was winding and beautiful. We did not do any of the hikes, yet they offer lots of trails for many levels. We only went to the overlook, and it was absolutely beautiful ❤️🍁🍂

Wonderful overlook that everyone should visit at least once if visiting or local. The ride up is a little twisty but manageable if you take your time. On the way down I suggest low gear as to not over heat your vehicles brakes. But very easy ride overall.

This place was amazing, but also a little disappointing at the same time. We drove four and a half hours from home to where we were staying, and then another 50 minutes from there to get to the park, where we originally planned to hike the Raven Cliff Falls Trail. However, after parking and walking just a minute to the overlook, it suddenly started raining. We had arrived in the late morning, but heavy rain was forecast to last past 4 PM. We weren’t prepared for the sudden change in mountain weather. We waited for about an hour hoping it would stop, but eventually had to head back down. Even though our time at the park was very short, the view from the summit was absolutely breathtaking! If you plan to visit, I highly recommend bringing waterproof hiking shoes and a rain jacket.

Absolutely beautiful but not for beginners! Lots of trails closed, definitely stop in and talk to the awesome and helpful staff in the gift shop.

One of my favorite spots. Great visitors center, clean full (not camping style) restrooms, a fantastic view, a short, very uneven, hike through "Devil's Kitchen." The rangers are super nice, well informed and helpful.

Amazing views. There is a restricted area where one can’t fly drones, but I didn’t fly in that area. It gets quite cold up there.

Everytime we come visit near South Carolina and North Carolina, this is the first place we go!🤩 This astonishing overlook has impeccable views, and a short boardwalk trail that leads up to the overlook. There also is a special overlook in the “Devil’s Kitchen” overlook, where you walk down a set of stairs into the overlook, which then becomes a mini trail. There is a mini gift shop nearby, which I definitely recommend visiting. There are many different souvenirs to buy and even a free mini nature exhibit in the gift shop to view. This is one of my favorite places in the country to see! Can’t wait to come back 😌

This is a few hidden gem just outside the state park. The views are gorgeous, There are picnic tables and restrooms available. And, the staff at the gift shop is very helpful if you're planning to hike.
