Best carrot cake I’ve ever had. And the grilled onion tuna sandwich was DELICIOUS! Muy muy muy rico!! Price is so fair. Less than 7£ per person. Cash only!

Can I place be more chilled and cozy with such an amazing view of the Alhambra? The breakfast with pan con tomato & zumo de naranja & coffee/tea for ca. 6,40€ is really nice. You have plenty of other options there as well. Enjoy the atmosphere and soak up the sun while gazing at the beautiful Alhambra. PS: The place is also really close to a beautiful viewpoint called „Mirador the St. Nicholas“. Don’t forget to check out that location and enjoy a beautiful view of Granada while listening to the Andalusian musicians up the hill 🎵🇪🇸⛰️.

Just loved this place. Great coffee and eevery piece of toast we had was delicious. We had the tomato (grated) & olive oil and the salmon with cream cheese and capers. Both delicious. We will definitely be back. Also a very nice courtyard with a view of the Alhambra.

Google
Lovely place and friendly staff - bear in mind they only take cash. Tried 4 different menus all of which are delicious. Omelet sandwich highly recommended. White asparagus & anchovy toast good for hot weather. The tomato toast and ham & cheese ones are also good but give the first two a try! Harder to find in other places!

Google
Great place to stop by for breakfast before heading to the Mirador San Nicolas. Great view of the Alhambra as well if you manage to snag a patio seat. The servers were very polite, both to us and also to a migrant traveller who was bothering the other patrons. Definitely recommend!

We were very excited to dine at the cafe; however, the dining experience is CATASTROPHIC. We only said “for party of two”, but the waitress was so annoyed (because we were Asian?). After we sit down and ready to order, we waited for 5-10 minutes until she FINALLY came. When I speak ENGLISH, she seems so frustrated and talked back in Spanish. I totally understand that we are in Spain and people could be uncomfortable to speak English. However, for things simple like order a dish, we should have no problem communicating. She did the following: 1. Ask me to point the menu and speak No.1 or 2. Apparently she can understand English, but trying to express that MY English that she COULDN’T or DOESN’T WILLING to understand. 2. I asked her to give an extra spoon, she refused so (later, another guy came back with a spoon) 3. I ordered (POINTED the menu) that we want toast with ham and cheese, she gave us tomato with cheese and refused to change it. 4. She talked out loud in Spanish about us with other customers. Even we could not understand Spanish, we can read their gestures. 5. After my friend feel uncomfortable about they talk at our back and pretend to video their conversation, she asked her colleague to chase us and asked us to delete the picture which we did not take. We love Granada, but we hate this morning experience. It’s 2024, we can’t believe we are stereotyped against in this small town of Spain. We thought Spanish people are enthusiastic and lovely. Maybe she is, just not with Asian people.

Google
It was an enjoyable experience. The baguette topped with cheese and a flavorful spread was a simple yet delightful choice. The freshness of the ingredients was evident in every bite. The outdoor seating area was comfortable and perfect for a relaxing morning meal. The toast with tomato, ham, and cheese was also delicious, providing a nice balance of flavors. The service was friendly and efficient, making the overall experience very pleasant. I would definitely recommend this café for a tasty and relaxed breakfast.

Yelp
Grated tomato toast- wonderful! Affordable prices and located in a neighborhood that makes for a great stroll.

Susan W.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast with a view ! Went there on our last morning of our stay at Granada. Ordered the combo with comes with the bread, orange juice and choice of coffee. Service was great. Highly recommended!

Prem D.

Yelp
It is a hidden and difficult location to find for people who are not familiar with Granada. We took the help of Google Maps. One thing to remember is that whatever it shows as street may be a small path, and the route is steep, too. It is a small place with a bar kind of setup and a few tables on the street. We had to wait to get a table. Their breakfast specials come with OJ or coffee. We had ordered the 4 gatos special and Escalivalda with roasted egg plant. Both the dishes were ok, when we asked for extra pepper, were refused and a little rude too. We were exhausted due to the walk and forgot to take pics. Good place, but there's nothing to get excited about.

Yelp
Quick place to grab a bite, cheap toast with varios options that include ham, cheese, olive oil, , etc.. did I mention cheap af??? Touristic place with great food, seating space is limited. Great staff

Brice Y.

Yelp
A very nice little cafe set in a beautiful, if slightly sloping, part of a neighborhood up above the city. The walk is not for the weary, but don't let that deter you. The service is very good, the food is yummy, and if you go for brunch, a whole world of shops open up for your journey home. We saw more dogs than cats, and the boss behind the bar was a little brusque with visitors and staff... but it felt like a local place and all that just added to the color. Not the easiest to get to, but worth the walk. When we were there it was cash only... so be prepared.

Zhuo L.

Yelp
Super cool view that you can see Alhambra from the restaurant. Very nice server, great food. Lane maybe long so recommend to be there earlier

Kristen T.

Yelp
Delicious food and good service! Sitting is a little limited but well worth it if you need to wait for a table!! We came twice and would have loved to have returned again had we had the time. We ate the half toast with goat cheese and jam and half cheese with tomato with manchego cheese. The second day we had a carrot cake and it was equally as delicious!

Molly M.

Yelp
I visited café 4 gatos with my girlfriend while staying in Granada at a nearby hostel. We absolutely loved this place. Table turnover is fast and the service is great. They have an extensive menu and plenty of vegetarian options. My chai latte was delicious and I'm still dreaming about it. Our goat cheese and eggplant open-faced sandwich was incredible. The carrot cake we accidentally ordered thinking it was a carrot tort (torta= cake) was also very good. Highly recommend.

Mackenzie O.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this cafe with my gf during our stay in Granada because it was close to our hostel and we're thrilled we did! It's a cute little cafe with indoor and outdoor seating and views of La Alhambra. Our server was incredibly nice and prompt. Their menu features several homemade dishes (casero) that are delicious and so reasonably priced! Lots of breakfast and lunch options. We got a large open faced sandwich, coffees, and cake for 14 euro- a lot of food and a great deal. An important note is they only accept cash (efectivo). This cafe was a highlight of our stay in Granada!

Barbara M.

Yelp
Some outdoor and indoor seating is available in addition to take away. The breakfast options at Cafe 4 Gatos are of amazing quality. The menu has something for everyone, especially various toppings on toast. The chai is made-to-order so allow time (~5 min) for that. Like most of Granada, the walk up to the Cafe is no joke depending on what direction you're heading. Try to travel light. The workers speak good English and Spanish and are friendly.

Alex C.

Yelp
Excellent stop for some espresso and pastries as you wind your way up and down in the Albaicin

Lisandra S.

Yelp
This place became our breakfast place. Is cash only but every meal is less than 10 Euros. Their specials comes with coffee and fresh orange juice how can you beat that. They guys are fun and very friendly. Love this place. Such an great find. We tried the toast with tomatoes and olive oil, and the toast with salmon and cream cheese, delicious.

Jordan R.

Yelp
Stellar toast breakfast up on the hill. First, the view is amazing. You're sitting outside on this cobblestone street looking at the Alhambra and then you order toast. It sounds simple but I tell you that toast with butter and mixed marmalade was so good I ordered a second one. They don't speak a ton of English there but the menu is available in English online and they can help you with what you want! It's also extremely affordable!

Tom B.

Yelp
Very nice breakfast spot with view of the Alhambra. Small, but good service. Lots of steps up from city center

S L.

Yelp
It's cash only but a lovely place. We went twice for breakfast on our trip in Granda and we were only there for 3 nights! We had the sandwiches - tomatoes and tuna, Iberian ham with tomatoes. Everything was fresh and the service was good as well. Very delicious! Cappucinos were foamy and great. Everything was very reasonable and the owner and son speak English as well.

Harold S.

Yelp
Nice local with a view of the Alhambra. Coffee was great, I got a latte with soy milk. Vegan options.

Priya A.

Yelp
Awesome breakfast and cheap too. We walked up to this place after reading good reviews and we were not disappointed. The place is a bit of a walk up the hills in granada but you get a peek of Alhambra from here. There were no tables available outside so we sat inside. I ordered the breakfast special with cafe, fresh orange juice and tomato olive oil tostas. The portion size was huge. Orange juice was sweet and so good. Cafe con leche was perfect. The toast with tomato and olive oil was good but 2 of these were a bit much. I wish I could have option to order one with tomato and other with butter and jam. They had some mango with lime jam which sounds great. Hubby ordered burgos-style fresh cheese and jam which was amazing. Fresh goat cheese with strawberry jam on crispy bread. He also ordered manchego cheese and tomato toast whole was good too. Great service too. The place was busy at 10 am on Sunday morning and tables were hard to get by when we were leaving. Totally worth coming up here instead of having some generic breakfast near our hotel.

Debbie B.

Yelp
We tried this quaint spot when in Spain and loved it!!! Worth the walk! Friendly service and yummy food.

Helen L.

Yelp
This place is great! It is a small home-y little cafe with great coffee. I made the mistake of ordering 2 toasts so I was quite stuffed. I got the smoked salmon with cream cheese and the Iberico with cheese, both were sooo delicious. I definitely recommend coming to this place for a quick breakfast.

Alfred W.

Yelp
The tostadas and coffees here are absolutely amazing, by far the best breakfast in Granada, for a can't-beat price. We were in Granada for three days and ate here twice. The first time we got the tostada with tomato purée, and one with tomatoes, Serrano ham and manchego cheese. Both were just perfect, so simple and yet so, so good. The macchiato I had also used a very creamy milk, which gave it an overall luxurious mouthfeel that you very rarely find in milky coffees. The second time we went we had, almost by accident, the tostada with pumpkin and vanilla jam and butter -- a brilliant combination that is just a Thanksgiving miracle in your mouth. To top it all off, it was the cheapest meal we had in the city. A must-visit!

G B.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast, and very friendly staff. We had the smoked salmon with freshly squeezed orange juice and white wine. Great value and experience.

Yelp
4.5 stars if I could, but the view and potion sizes push it up to a 5. It's a small little breakfast spot that you have to order at the bar inside. There are 4 tables outside if you are lucky enough to grab one - which we were - and only a handful of stools inside. I ordered the orange juice which was unbelievably fresh and a coffee which was not that great (actually it was the only thing I would not recommend getting). I then had the toast with butter and jam - unfortunately they were out of their specialty jams, but normal strawberry jam was just as yummy. I would recommend ordering a half portion unless you are really hungry because the portions are awesomely huge!! My friends had he smoked salmon with cream cheese and they loved it as well.

Mason S.

Yelp
Very good coffee, fresh orange juice, and breakfast food. :) great view of the Alhambra from outside seating.

Steph J.

Yelp
Well, this was our official breakfast spot during our stay in Granada. It had the most options and has a great view of the Alhambra from the patio. Tired of pan con tomate? They have more than that. They offer muesli, and different toppings for your pan (bread, for those of you who don't know the local language :D). We opted out of the expensive breakfast at our hotel and instead came here every day. Why? It was affordable, good, and it just had good vibes. During our stay in Granada, we had the ham/cheese/tomato sandwich, i.e. the bocadillo, and the salmon with capers, tomato, and cream. All on bread of course. It was all so good and fresh. And did I mention it didn't cost a ton? Well, not that food costs much in this city anyway. ;) Anyway, just got check it out. It's a cool spot. And if you're staying in Centro like we did, yes it's a climb to get there but at least you'll be creating a calorie deficit and working those glutes and hammies before you eat all that bread!

Roy G.

Yelp
Tiny place in the old Arabic quarter with 4 tables outside and a few bar stools. Serve a variety of breakfast items and home made cakes. The carrot cake comes highly recommended. Food looks fresh and the coffee is good and strong.

Jameth M.

Yelp
Best breakfast we had in Granada hands down and I have tried a lot. 1st, location is unique. Have to be a walker to find it. 2nd, quality is just spot on. Try the smoked salmon tostada. Pure melting in your mouth baby. Ahhhh ya. Also, when in Spain always take advantage of the fresh squeezed orange juice. When I asked my friend visiting from CT. He said that Americans would not like it because of all the pulp. Then he went on to tell of an encounter in a restaurant where he heard the waiter giving a choice of fresh squeezed or tropicana and the American client said " oh Tropicana". Does not surprise me. Most of us are not aware of quality even when it slaps us in our face. 3rd, very friendly and attentive staff. Only downfall lots of flies. Overall. Great spot!!!

Tim W.

Yelp
Great spot for breakfast and coffee. Freshly squeezed orange juice, was delicious. The man behind the counter, barista (that's right, 1 barista and 1 cook) does all the coffee, tea, and serving. He serves quickly and every drink is precise and delicious. He is very friendly, and knows English. The view from the cafe is also a bonus if you get to sit outside.

Tono M.

Yelp
Took us a minute to find this place but we did! There's limited seating inside and dine tables outside. We were able to find a seat relatively quickly. I had toast with grated tomato, jamon, and cheese and a cafe con leche. Everything was awesome and delicious. The prices were reasonable. It's a nice place to enjoy a cup of coffee and chill.

Ahmed A.

Yelp
Great location. We had salmon with cream cheese, tomatoes toast Fresh orange juice. Lovely place

Ann T.

Yelp
Location: In the Arab quarter of Granada. Take note: you'll be climbing a few steep steps before you get here! The place: Very small café with bar seating inside, and a few tables outside. Since no tables were free outside, I grabbed a tiny table by the entrance, that looked out (completely open too - no window pane!). The vibe rocks - they've got jazz playing and you can see the Alhambra while you sip on that coffee. Felt to me like locals frequent this place. The goods: I order the 4 Gatos - freshly squeezed OJ, full tostado with tomato and a Cortado. After drinking watered down Cortado more than once in the last week, I was ecstatic to get a damn good coffee over here. The tostado is a full baguette (so think about half the size of a baguette back home, sliced in half) - they bring you olive oil and herbs to use as you like. It was a great snack for me, after walking all the way to the Alhambra, and then visiting for almost four hours! Service: Good. The guy behind the bar was friendly. Price point: 4.90€

Yelp
Cafe 4 Gatos, or 4 cats, was a great recommendation from a local; we popped in here for breakfast. We'd originally wanted to sit outside as this cafe is situated in a small but lovely cobbled courtyard, with covered seating, but it was too cold, so we opted to go inside. First impressions were very positive, we had to sit at the bar, they only had a few tables as the place was too small... But I instantly loved the laid back Jazz playing and found the bright artwork aligning the walls was very easy on the eye. Coffee was great quality, orange juice freshly squeezed and I enjoyed the twist on the traditional Desayuno (of bread and tomato puree), with salmon and capers. The bread was just so crisp and topping such as delicious combination. However the most outstanding was the carrot cake, which had also been recommended, and you could tell why, with around 4 other people ordering it whilst we were there, one of which who reordered another slice to take with them! Indeed it was one of the best ones I've tried, with thin icing, not making it too sugary, fluffy moist and a complete delight. Not the cheapest you'll find, but still extremely reasonably priced. Also great if you're English as they understand, and have the menu in this language.

Judy G.

Yelp
If you're looking for a very local place for lunch this is it. Very casual. We sat outside and really enjoyed the food and had great service as well. Set in the traditional part of Granada.

Danielle M.

Yelp
This is our neighborhood coffee shop usually packed with locals and tourists alike, and it is the perfect spot to sit awhile before you trudge the rest of the way up the Albaizin hill on your way to that gorgeous Mirador St. Nicolas view. This is the kind of tiny coffee shop that everyone in the neighborhood stops at each morning on their way to work or class. Their coffee is excellent and always the perfect pour, the owner and his staff are efficient and kind, the baked goods are fabulous (try the carrot cake and the chocolate chip cookies), and you can't beat the courtyard view of the Alhambra.

Glen B.

Yelp
Wine and cookies are amazing! Love this place for sitting outside or a quaint inside.

Kristin M.

Yelp
Cute place. I was so happy to get muesli with milk and a banana for breakfast. The toast with tomato or ham is very good as well.

simmi a.

Yelp
Really good breakfast! Loved the salmon on toast and eggplant with goat cheese. Definitely coming back for some more :)

Christopher L.

Yelp
Reading previous reviews helped with the flow, and guided us here for breakfast. The menu is simple to follow, and although the number of customers busy for the size of the kitchen facilities, the wait was not long and worth it.

Gavin B.

Yelp
I got a café con leche and their lox with pickled cyprese sandwich. Great combination of flavors. They do a self service here, and the service was on point. And did I mention this café and bar has an amazing view of the Alhambra? I recommend this place to locals and travelers who are in Granada. Breakfast, Lunch, and maybe dinner.

Evelyn T.

Yelp
Simple things like toast with butter and jam taste awesome here. Great latte too. Owner speaks English. Nice little local café.

Lisa B.

Yelp
Small cafe with limited seating inside. A few tables are arranged outside. The current breakfast menu features four types of "toast". The toast is ciabatta bread and is large enough to share. Breakfast is served with coffee and freshly squeezed juicez Amazing cafe con leche. Very friendly staff. The cafe features artwork from a local artist.

Carrie M.

Yelp
Pretty good breakfast place. It's a tiny place, not a lot of sitting and a popular place. The man behind the counter was nice and looked a little overwhelmed at times. Their pumpkin vanilla jam was delicious. Nice view of the Alhambra and close to the lookout point.

Inge G.

Yelp
This place is great ! Exclamation mark! Really good coffee and food. Tostada con tomate is delicious. Very friendly staff, and newspapers available. So that would be about anything you'd want after a walk up the hill.

David V.

Yelp
Nice little place for breakfast with a few tables outside in the sun off a small plaza. You order inside at the bar. Toast options include butter and jam or tomato +/- jamon +/- cheese with specials that include coffee and fresh orange juice.

Allison W.

Yelp
Great coffee and food! Not in the high tourist area which is always what I look for. Beautiful view of the Alhambra at reasonable prices for food.

Jesse And Christy S.

Yelp
Great little cafe in the Arab quarter with a nice view of Alhambra.. so sit outside if you can! There are just a couple of guys working behind the bar and they're awesome. You can get delicious toasts + a coffee for less than 4 euros. Worth visiting in the morning on your way to the Mirador San Nicholas!

Brigid M.

Yelp
Great little find in the Arab quarter of Granada. Off the tourist track and up a hill. Worth the walk! We had jamon, manchego cheese and tomato sandwiches on freshly baked bread which where massive and great value for 4 €! Coffee is Illy and is delicious. Two thumbs up. Would def go again. They have an English menu too. Great service.

Mohammad C.

Yelp
Great breakfast options! Toast with jam and butter is absolutely delicious as well as their omega 3 special. Only rip off is that there are no gatos in sight :(

Josh R.

Yelp
This little gem is a great place for breakfast in the morning and a Caña in the evening. the menu is in spanish and english and the staff was able to speak in English to help us out. I highly suggest the Salmon toast with tomato and capers. I recommend getting a half size and a coffee to save some money instead of the full size with coffee and juice special,

Martin M.

Yelp
This is a cute place with a beautiful view (worth hiking up the hill for). The coffee is better than the touristy places down by the cathedral, and the tostada con jamon y tomate is some of the best I've had in Spain (and I've been many places).
