Cafe Basilico - Colaba

Disappointed by the Hype – Basilico, Colaba Basilico in Colaba has built quite a reputation over the years, which is why I was genuinely looking forward to the experience. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of those places where the hype no longer matches the reality. We ordered the lemon coriander soup, which was a letdown right from the first sip – it lacked any real flavor of lemon or coriander. It tasted more like a bland, slightly heated broth with everything grounded into it. The pasta, which should be a safe bet at a place like this, was similarly underwhelming – completely tasteless and lacking in any seasoning or depth. To make matters worse, the service was all over the place. Our server seemed unfamiliar with the menu and couldn’t answer basic questions about the dishes. We ordered ravioli, only to be told – after waiting – that it wasn’t available. This kind of miscommunication really affects the dining experience, especially when expectations are high. Basilico may still draw crowds because of its name, but it seriously needs to step up both its service and food quality if it wants to stay relevant. Right now, it feels like a shadow of what it once might have been.

Heard a lot of positive things about this place and I'm glad to say they was all true. The food here is good, a lot of hits and some misses, but overall a great experience. The place is a little small but still cosy, not as expensive as I was expecting. The staff is polite and helpful, insisting to set up an extra table next to ours for all the food we ordered. Things to try:- Pina Colada, Cheese Fondue, Carrot Cake, Ravioli, Peri Peri Prawns Things to improve:- Chicken Parmigiana (the crust was a little burnt, the noodles underneath were quite undercooked), New York Cheesecake (the cake was curdled and a little too dense) Would definitely visit again.

Basilico is a self-confident cafe style eatery specialising in foods with an international appeal. I've been here a couple of times and have always come out happy. A special shout-out to their interesting tea collection. Overall, a very good place with a youthful vibe and some good food to boot.

Place is open till 1 am. We ordered their Fresh Watermelon juice which was without sugar and ice, plain classic cold coffee and Pizza Zatar. The taste of Zatar was superb and it was thin as we love our pizza. The pizza tastes very nice and is pure vegetarian. They have good menu options like healthy bowls and sandwiches. They serve both vegetarian as well as non vegetarian dishes. Valet services are available for parking.

Went in for a late breakfast. Enjoyed the quiet place, nice music, kind waiter.

The food was very delicious, and the staff was extremely kind and helpful. The restaurant is clean and has a nice location. I will definitely come back to eat here again on my future visits to the beautiful city of Mumbai! With love from Dubai.

This has become a staple place for me every-time I visit Colaba Causeway. It is easily accessible and the food here is simply delicious especially their mud pie brownie. It’s quite affordable for a good meal in Colaba. They have a wide range of bakery options as well. Loved their Roast Chicken and Sandwiches. Their Coolers are so refreshing and amazing. The vibe and service is equally good.
