This place is a bit a high-end café where they expect you to spend. The more you spend, the better location you will be offered for seating. However, all staff are friendly, speak good English n good to enjoy the atmosphere where you can learn the colonial history of this building. The coffee itself was just fine, not as wow as I'd expected for.

A delightful dining experience! The restaurant offers a cosy and inviting atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxing meal. The service was attentive and warm throughout our visit. While the prices are on the higher side, the food was absolutely delicious and worth every bite. A great spot for those who value quality and a comfortable setting.

I went here with my friends for the first time in my 30 years of life as an Indonesian. The vibe is odd in some way, I feel like I was a “kompeni” back in the colonial times, but i suppose it was their concept. Although I must say the atmosphere was great. The service was incredible, very polite, down to earth staff. Typical Indonesian smile all the time service. I love that about this place. Of course its somewhat pricey but with the portions and the service that you get, totally worth the price. Overall i would definitely comeback.

Probably the best restaurant in that area. Really nice and cozy atmosphere, with pleasant and helpful staff. Food is also OK. The only thing I mind is that the staff handles cutlery and plates on the upper floor in dining space and it gets really noisy from time time. That activity could be easily moved to the main pavilion.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere and food at Cafe Batavia. I had read some less positive reviews on the food but it was very good, worth a visit. We didn't think window seating was essential but upstairs yes, it's definitely worth it. The staff are lovely.

Booked a table for 8 at 10.45am for brunch. All the dishes were good.. I was billed 2mio which is very proper for the foods, service and the ambiance... no complaint... but not for iced tea and mineral water.. 😂 For an average local who drinks iced tea in daily basis, 300k for 5 regular iced tea also 100k for 2 mineral waters is overpriced. i spent 500k only for all 'regular' drinks. 😁 The seasoning and spiciness of most traditional dishes came a bit lighter than the original versions... which is okay because this resto has been a foreign tourists spot for many years so the foods have to be suitable for them.. still tasted good tho.. As a native batavian i need to ask the management to give more portion for traditional betawi dishes, desserts or snacks.. Also a bit nuance of "betawi" instead the entirely "colonial" atmosphere.

Had a wonderful dining experience at Café Batavia! The food was absolutely delicious and exquisitely prepared — especially the rice and beef, which were full of flavor. A special thanks to Fikar, who was incredibly friendly and interesting. His excellent service truly made the visit memorable. The restaurant’s ambiance is fantastic — charming, cozy, and perfect whether you’re dining solo or with friends. Highly recommend!

The food is good, and the plating is excellent. The atmosphere is pleasant, including the toilet. The male staff are friendly and professional. They treated my partner from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 well and even asked for his opinion on the food compared to the 🇳🇱 Netherlands. However, some of the female staff were not as accommodating. At first, they told us that only the bar area was available. But shortly after, six foreigners who arrived after me were given seats inside. Noticing that I had difficulty sitting at the bar, they moved us to a regular table. Later, when they saw we had ordered food 🍲, they moved us again—this time to the best location (inside with a view on the second floor). (We changed locations three times.) In the end, though, they thanked us, helped open the door, and treated us well. So, I still recommend visiting this place because most of the staff are friendly and welcoming. :)
