"With just a few tables and a handful of barstools, this bar may be tiny, but it packs a lot of character into its diminutive space. Walls are decorated floor-to-ceiling with a mix of beer posters and racy street art; at the small wood bar, eight curving brass taps dispense top-notch Belgian-style draughts like La Chouffe and La Trappe. Around 50 specialty beers are also available by the bottle, many of them rare craft brews. During evenings, the bar even manages to squeeze in a DJ, who spins funky old-school jazz."

Google
A charming and cosy little bar with pretty aesthetics. Plenty of choices not just for the usual patrons but also for teetotalers. Really nice vibes inside, even if you might have to stand.

Google
Great small bar with many different artworks going on. Every wall tells a different story. Excellent beers, spirits on offer but you'll need a few visits to have a good appreciation of the variation on offer.

I had such a great time here! I love Belgian beers so going here was like a pilgrimage for me. Such a wide selection on tap and in bottles, served properly with a moody ambience. Great street art in and around too. The server was helpful in her recommendations as well.

Google
A fun little hole in the wall on a rather touristy street. An impressive list of beers on draft and poured the classic way. Staff are some friendly characters. Clearly some history in here. Worth the stop, would recommend.

Great beer selection Belgiums galore! My favorite beer triple karmeliet was available. Bartender was cool loved her Britney Spears shirt. Good people watching outside too.

Google
What a place! One of the nicest bar in Amsterdam center. Very characteristic and charming. Many different particular beers, I recommend triple karmerliet. Staff is very kind and funny, the guy was Italian so we could talk a bit. Prices are totally on average. Definitely recommend trying. Thanks for the experience, I’ll come back !

Love this place… amazing selection of beers, cozy atmosphere, great music, small and intimate… nice to seat outside and watch the people passing by… great meeting point as well. Very central. Good service…

Google
La Chouffe at Café Belgique It’s been almost exactly twenty years since I had my first La Chouffe. Right here at Café Belgique. Still an amazing place for Chouffe or ”Ouf, in Café Belgique drinken we Chouffe!” Pretty sure I had my first Kwak on the same journey to Amsterdam, so here’s to that as well. A beer knurd destination on its own. Not the latest hazies, and not the greatest lambics, but loads of trad Belgian beer and history in the walls. Loving it.

Yelp
This bar is just ok. I had a few friends come here and they seemed super excited by the decor, ambiance and overall feel and service of this place. I was left wanting. The wait staff was narcissist and annoying. Sorry I don't know your menu. Sorry I asked for a Kwak beer, with the cool wooden holder & you acted like I was a criminal. The beer was good, and there are some good bartenders.....but give me a break

Yelp
Best little spot off Nieuwendijk and convenient from anywhere along Damrak. A little smoky with cigarettes after 5, but otherwise, a real favorite. Excellent beers are the specialty, but mixed drinks are there too. Not into that? No problem: come in for a coffee or a soda...settle down on the seats and relax. If you're by yourself, you can sink into a book or with the free WiFi, you can bring along your laptop.

Yelp
This place is great. Right in the centre of the city it's easily acceptable and has a large group of regulars . They have a wide range of specialist beers which draws in many people. Often the place is a great mix of locals and tourists. They always have fresh orchards which I like as they look and smell delicious. Add for a bit of colour if you're sitting outside. Perfect place for a beer or two be is 5pm for an after work drink or 1am for a late night catch up. They have different DJs playing each night. There is no room for dancing but often upbeat fun music.

Yelp
I'm here now. You should be here now. Yes. You. Excellent beer, nice people, nice weather what more is necessary? Nada. But seriously...Café Belgique is small and quaint. It's what makes it so pleasurable. The Gravenstraat, where it's located, is literally 10 feet across. The two benches attached to their front outer wall seats 8 comfortably and standing in the middle of the narrow street or against the opposing wall - with a drink - can bring them a hefty fine. So, they draw a line of demarcation (two feet in front of the benches) on the brick street with a piece of chalk which you are asked and required to stand behind. It just makes it all the more cozier. Inside, the bar seats 6-8 and the two tables, left and right of the door, seats 12-14. And that's it. Weather permitting, sitting on the benches is the best place to people watch in Amsterdam. Trust me.

Yelp
Ode to Belgique Along the people splattered shopping street In an alley lies a bar, fantastically neat From the corner, a hop, skip and a bit of magique And you'll find yourself, at Café Belgique Dark, rustic, yet filled with much charm To your liver, no amounts of beer, would ever harm For the selection of brewed hops from Belgium here Make your mouth happy, so you'll naught veer. Two tiny tables and five bar stools within Get here early, als je zin in! Come too late, on weekend nights here Helaas, it's too full, so then I steer clear :( And what is this picture, of mices with weed?! If you haven't seen it, take a look, indeed! As for this small dark bar, I always want more Oh Café Belgique, je t'adore!

Yelp
So I don't get to Amsterdam often, but I told my college that I loved hole in the wall bars and he said he knew just the place. So unobtrusive that locals know little of this little paradise of beer worship. You're greeted as if you were old friends. The art on the walls is unique, humorous, quirky and beautiful! The beers are all fantastic! A curated set of Belgian beers to satisfy the finest palette! Enjoy, but please only tell your coolest friends about this place!

Yelp
LOVE this divey hole in the wall place which has great music and ambiance and fun servers. I enjoyed a Kwak beer served in the signature hourglass shaped glass suspended in a wooden holder which you should not take lightly. This beer is high in alcoholic content and will quickly surprise you so beware or enjoy or whatever....my kinda rock n roll Amsterdam hangout

Yelp
Ah, my dear Belgique. There's a bunch of reasons why I love you. Mostly your quirkyness, and because I always meet new people here. More often than not, the people are just as quirky as the bar itself, but they're always interesting and they usually have great stories or funny jokes. Or both. The location is awesome - right off Nieuwendijk and minutes from the Dam square, so you're never far from the Belgique. Gets insanely crowded on weekend nights, nice and quiet in the afternoon.

Yelp
What a gem in the back alleys! Great service, great atmosphere and great Belgian beers in tap. Kwak is a must-try because of the glass but try the other ones too. I'd definitely come here again!

Yelp
The first thing I do when I go to a new city is find a good pub. And when I was in Amsterdam, I was lucky enough to stumble upon Cafe Belgique within twenty minutes of stepping off the train at Central Station. Hidden down a little alleyway, it's a proper old Dutch 'brown bar', serving a wide array of beers, spirits (particularly Gin) and simple snacks, and is always packed to the rafters with locals, tourists and everything inbetween. It's a cute, immensely laidback little place - when we went in, the bar staff were friendly, and were usually smoking a fag (or something stronger) inbetween necking numerous Campari & Sodas. Be sure to order a pint of Kwak when you go here - it's a gorgeous amber ale, which is served in an immensely interesting bell shaped glass which is held in a wooden stand. Whilst it's 4 euros per pint, it's definitely worth it. It has a very distinctive raspberry-like taste, and the glass is a great talking point! Do watch out for the toilets here though - located at the top of a winding and narrow flight of stairs, this is not somewhere you want to lose your footing if you're a bit tipsy (mainly because you might roll out onto the street - which is never a good look).

Yelp
Really great beers and really nice bartender. And friendly patrons inside. Felt right at home here.

Yelp
Really good dutch style brown bar close to Damm square with lots of traditional dark wood. Despite the size it typically has 8 draft beers and over two dozen bottled beers, usually of Belgian origin (Cafe Belgiue - get it?). The weak beers start at around 4%, but beware of the stronger ones which can get be over 10%. If you fancy something different try the Kwak (sounds like the noise a duck makes) typical amber larger-style beer but comes in a glass that looks like a small yard-of-ale complete with a wooden stand: cool! Service is good, friendly and speaking English is not a problem.

Yelp
An extremely friendly, small, old style Dutch bar serving a selection of Belgian and Dutch beers, some of which are not for the faint-hearted. There are just a few tables and when it gets busy you end up cramped into quite a small space. Service is friendly and very relaxed. Extreme beer enthuasiasts may actually be a little bit disappointed by the range of beers on tap, and may prefer to find a much wider range of beers in bottled form not far away from the Cafe, at a beer shop called Beerkoning.

Yelp
I went here a couple of times in my Amsterdam trip. It was right around the corner from another of my favorite hangs, Cafe Louis. This is a tiny little bar, with a lot of charm. The service was good, and there was a DJ playing an eclectic mix both times. Recommended.

Yelp
It's a hole in the wall in an alley. It's loud. It's quiet. It's full of locals just hanging out. It's got maybe a couple of tables inside along with a few seats at the bar so there's not much sitting room and not much standing room as well explaining why the clientele spills out into the alley. It's quirky and it's friendly. It's got kind of a loud rock bar ambiance. There were eight kinds of draft beer and some bottled beer all belgian. There was hard liquor, too. The staff is friendly.

Yelp
Bar very cozy and warm inside. Nice atmosphere and nice people ! Helpful and welcoming ! I recommend for a chill evening hanging out with friends

Yelp
Finally after three trips to Amsterdam we got a seat in this fabulous little bar. They have a lot of delicious Belgian beers to choose from and the bar is so cozy. The staff is friendly and the music was great. I would highly recommend it.

Yelp
Cafe Belgique is an oasis amongst the hustle & bustle. This dark & cosy bar close to Dam Square offers an intimate atmosphere with a great selection of beers at a decent price.

Yelp
Not much room in this small little Belgian bar. I was impressed with the glassware, especially having the appropriate glass for a pint (or whatever quantity it comes in) of Kwak. They were nice enough to offer a sample of the beer before we ordered it.

Yelp
This is an incredible pub, probably my favorite in Amsterdam. They have a great selection of beers. It is a small pub, and a great place to spend some time. I have been there probably 5 times over the last 10 years, and will go back anytime I am in Amsterdam. This is probably my favorite bar that I've ever been to.

Yelp
Quaint spot for a Kwak and a few nibbles. Rub elbows in one of the smallest bars in Amsterdam or sit outside and watch tourists stroll by. Enjoy either way.

Yelp
As an ex-pat I had fun sampling the wonderful and large assortments of beers - My daughter even bought a T-Shirt. I definitely recommend it as a destination place. Great friendly service

Stew A.

Yelp
Its okay. Decent Belgian beers. Cool atmosphere too. Could lose the attitude of little miss bartender though. But she probably deals with tons of whack jobs a day given the location of the place so close to the station.

Yelp
great place! go there everytime i'm in town. they always have a great winter beer (Bok) on too, last season it Le Chuf Nice...oh my! they seem to care in that place - that's why maybe it attracts such a cross section of people. the music is often GREAT too! Peta
