Still thinking about the extra delicious herb & cheese omelette I had at Cafe Brio! Not only was it cooked to perfection.. but the eggs themselves were so flavorful. In fact, everything at Brio is flavorful .. and FRESH! The sourdough toast was amazing, too. Trying to figure out how many more times we can go to Brio before we have to return home. Highly recommend!

Cute café in a nice downtown area! House coffee is smooth. Great selection of items! The hardest thing was deciding between a galette and tart at this visit 😄

Google
Good food (some healthy & delicious). Some items are pricey (fresh squeezed OJ cup is more than a walnut loaf of bread).

After my 1st visit here, I can honestly say that I look forward to coming back! That being said, the atmosphere and staff are accommodating and wonderful. Good for a meal alone or sharing this experience with others. I could go on and on about the food I had, but I'd rather just say that it was amazing and I highly recommend trying ANYTHING here. The food and beverage came out quickly yet no corners were cut in making my order. Thank you for such a great start to my day, this was truly a wonderful experience.

Google
Awesome ambience. Clearly popular given it was packed. I good poking food options, though I just stopped and had a good house coffee. And, it’s right on the town square.

It's delicious here, trust me! The tomato soup is one of the most original and delicious I've had in California. The croissants are fresh and crisp, the cappuccino is great! 👍

Café Brio is a hidden gem when it comes to baked goods. The pastries are always fresh and delicious, with a wide to choose from. Whether you're in the mood for a fl croissant or a decadent slice of cake, Café Brio has you covered. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a treat. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always willing to make recommendations or answer any questions you may have. I have visited Café Brio multiple times and have never been disappointed. If you have a tooth or just appreciate good quality baked goods, I highly recommend giving Café Brio a try. You won't be disappointed!

Google
Overall it’s an alright place for breakfast. On my most recent experience, I wasn’t a fan of the capuchino as it had a burnt taste. We also got two pastries and asked for them heated up and it took almost 20 minutes just for them to heat the pastries and bring them to us. Once we finally got them, I felt my almond croissant was a bit burnt on the outside, but overall it tasted good. The atmosphere is alright as it’s on the plaza, but I feel there are quite a few other places in Arcata that provide a better cafe experience.

Yelp
Stopped in after strolling around the farmers market on the square. It was rainy and chilly and we needed a cup of coffee. I looked across the street and saw that this place was packed. Figured it must be good. Cute little place with quite a bit of room. We placed our order of two lattes which came out quickly even though they were very busy. We found a seat after the very pleasant helpful staff took our order and as mentioned our named was called quickly. The coffee was more than. Just an average cup of coffee. Maybe we were cold and craving a cup of coffee but regardless it was a very good latte.

Yelp
Came in this morning right at 8 for chilaquiles! Learned they only have those on the weekends, oh well! Instead, my group and I ordered Sourdough Waffles, Brio Basic with over easy eggs, Herb and Cheese Omelet, and I had some eggs and potatoes. Every breakfast dish we ordered was very mediocre, and it tastes that the grill was either not cleaned well or that the oil was burnt/ old. We overall just not at all impressed by our food. Drinks on the other hand, we all stayed pretty basic with drip coffee. Very rich in flavor and quite bitter. I enjoyed the drip coffee. Cafe Brio is gorgeously decorated, I very much enjoy the flower paintings and mirrors above. Service was good! Friendly and efficient staff. Overall, we would recommend the pastries. Specifically the danish was delicious. Food is not recommended!

Yelp
Food: It gets the job done, although it was more expensive than I thought it was for the meal I ordered. It was essentially 3 eggs and bread slices. I have not tried their bakery items yet. I may do so in the future. Service: You place your order, get a number and choose a place to sit, and wait until your name is called or they find your number whether you sit inside or outside. Time isn't as big of an issue, if i wanted to stay there for another 15-20 minutes, I probably could have to read a book, or do a quick study because of how much room there was. Ambiance: Probably the good side to this cafe location. The interior is large enough for customers, and on a good day, enough customers can sit outside instead. Because it is facing Arcata Plaza, whatever the event, when Cafe Brio is open, one is normally able to see what event is happening in Arcata Plaza... could be the Farmer's Market, could be Arcata High School making their rounds. Could even just be out-of-the-blue events that happen by chance on the plaza.

Yelp
Only place open in the beautiful downtown Arcata district on Sunday afternoon, where you can get the best Craft Beer and openly warm welcome from the professional staffs, who can make one of the better breakfast dishes is now our favorite restaurant to go to! The place is a walking distance from the Humboldt College and is a beautiful place to hang out to eat and drink as well as watching numerous homeless and drugged lost souls hanging around the downtown square! It's too bad that the area has so many people there sifting through the garbage cans, strung out on drugs and frequent this nice little restaurant to come in for the bathroom and free water. I like the food they served and the craft beer was nice, but homeless and drug users are so rampant and numerous, I don't think I will be going back.

Yelp
Food: Excellent mini fruit galette! Butter flakey crust, seasonal peach and strawberry slices, and thin layer of custard. Greens w sweet caramelized onions-chopped garlic, and topped 1 light'n fluffy scrambled egg. Definitely will come back whenever driving on the west coast. Service: Pick or order counter service Self Service (bus your own dishes) Ambiance: Good, Indoor or outdoor seating

Yelp
Came on a Saturday morning and there was a line out the door. Fortunately, the line goes by pretty fast and the kitchen is pretty efficient. I got the ham Benedict and it was really good. Instead of an English muffin, they use croissant and the croissant was so flaky.
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered a Basic Brio dish, which should have been scrambled eggs over a croissant. Some friends joined me ten minutes later and ordered more exotic dishes. Their food arrived after a decent but not mine, which was ordered considerably earlier. I went inside to inquire, reminding the waitress that I must have very dry, even browned scrambled eggs. So, 20 mins later, a fried egg appears, and it's pretty wet/moist. So I request that they do it again, this time SCRAMBLE the egg, and cook it very dry. Another 20 goes by, and a fried egg is delivered, swimming in oil, with the white of the egg running. I realized this could not be salvaged or redone, and I was out of time, so I took the egg goo to the cash register counter and plopped it down, explaining carefully what was wrong. I won't be returning.

Yelp
Always an entirely delightful experience, aesthetically, tastefully, and in customer experience. The staff has always been warm and welcoming, and gives great suggestions. There are a number of holiday delights right now to satisfy any known or yet to be discovered cravings.

Yelp
Great experience. Had a wonderful omelette, croissant and danish. Great place for breakfast/ brunch

Yelp
Food and mimosa's were great. Perfect for breakfast before shopping the farmers market!

Yelp
Everything we got was very good! But my goodness, the star of the show was the fresh fruit cream cheese danish! Holy moly! I got a delicious mocha with housemade chocolate sauce, the fresh fruit cheesecake danish didn't taste like pure cream cheese, but rather a light cream cheese custard with some blueberry and peach on top I believe. We also got a ham and cheese croissant and a jalapeño cheddar croissant, both were excellent. We got a baguette to go, we weren't super impressed with the baguette, but everything else was delicious. If you want a good pastry, definitely pay a visit. And it's conveniently located in town Square I guess, there was a farmers market going on, so it was quite busy, fun experience!

Yelp
Super lovely. I haven't had an eclair this good in a long time! The frosting was soft but not sticky and the custard was just the right consistency. My macchiato was a great pairing- note it was on the acidic side, not in a bad way, but if you like your espresso smoother/milder maybe select something else. My wife loved her danish so much she got another the following day.

Yelp
Visiting from Phoenix Arizona and stopped here for a glass of wine and French Onion soup, which is my hands down favorite so I am pretty picky. LOVED IT! the broth was perfectly balanced, the cheese was the exact right amount and the bread was not a super huge piece to soak up to much of the broth. I am happy!

Yelp
Cafe Brio is one of my favorite places in Humboldt for breakfast. Their brio benedict is delicious!! Everything about it was perfection. From the fresh, airy croissant up to the delectable hollandaise sauce with everything in between just as impressive. My latte was also on point. In summary, I love this place.
google avatar

Yelp
Great Vanilla Latte. I wished they had cold cups to put the cold drinks in since the condensation made the compostable hot cup lose its integrity and my cup was unable to hold liquid after. Lost about half the latte. I ordered some cold items and a hot quiche to go. I wish they would have had a little communication about where to wait or that they were going to get the hot thing going or something. He got me my cold items and handed them to me, then looked at the line and said he could help whoever was next. I felt so uncomfortable I didn't really know where to go. So, I just awkwardly shuffled over to the side a bit. The barista was really kind and asked what I was waiting for and then told me I could stand here and that it should be out any minute. The food is incredible. I had a fruit and almond butter something, a brownie, quiche, and a yogurt parfait. I'll be back for the food and hope for better service the next time. (Honestly the food is so good they could have been rude and I'd still be back)

Yelp
I moved to Humboldt about a year and a half ago and am totally mad at myself for waiting that long to try out Cafe Brio! I've gone twice now for coffee and have tried a few bakery items-- a chocolate croissant, a peach and blueberry danish, and a chocolate eclair. Everything was delicious! I especially loved the danish. The service was good and the cafe itself is very nice. I've got nothing but good things to say. I definitely recommend!

Yelp
My friend and I were visiting Eureka over the weekend and stopped at Cafe Brio for a quick bite. The veggie quiche and bacon quiche were delightful! Very light and flaky on the outside and very tasty. The ham & cheese baguette and the turkey and Swiss baguette was good, but it could have more hand and more turkey in it, the 2 slices were barely visible nor could you taste it well, it's mostly baguette. Food came Fast. They have very good coffee. Bold but mellow. Staff was friendly. The cafe was clean and pleasant vibe.

Yelp
Nice little place on Arcata plaza. Homegrown and fresh ingredients. I had the asparagus croque and my daughter had the eggs and potatoes.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is such a cute cafe. They indoor and outdoor seating. They have lots of different options from pastries and coffee. A great place to come and hangout with friends or study.

Yelp
We stopped by Cafe Brio a quick breakfast on the patio before heading to the farmers market across the street. * STICKY BUN This isn't like your typical sticky bun because it's made with croissant dough, so the outside was particularly crisp and flaky. It also didn't feel as gooey as other sticky buns I've had. Nonetheless I enjoyed it and it wasn't sickly sweet. The chopped walnuts add some bite to the otherwise soft pastry. I would've loved to come back the next day to try more baked goods but my partner wanted to try a different coffee shop, whomp whomp. I will keep Cafe Brio in mind whenever I pass through again though.

Yelp
What a good find! This shop is adorable and located right off the main square in Arcata. I can't resist a good macaron so we started off our breakfast with a cookie. I got the pumpkin spice flavor and loved how strongly the pumpkin flavor came through, a very tricky thing to do with macarons! My husband got drip coffee and I got a pumpkin latte, both flavorful and warming. My sticky bun was made with laminated dough and the sticky flakiness was the perfect pairing. My husband got an almond croissant which he said wasn't overly sweet and paired nicely with his coffee. The perfect start to our day!
google avatar

Yelp
Get the chocolate pudding, get the chocolate pudding, get the chocolate pudding, did I mention to get the chocolate pudding?
google avatar

Nikki M.

Yelp
This is the place to be in the Arcata square. The coffee and breakfast menu are both delicious. They had a good assortment of gluten free (labeled wheat free on their menu) choices. The cafe has both indoor and outdoor seating options, and the people who run it are tight with the local student community so it was cool to see them greet people by name. They are friendly and personable. Must try if you're in the area. The hash browns are the best I've ever had- get them with a side of avocado for an extra creamy bite- so good!

Yelp
This is a nice little place for breakfast/lunch/brunch or just to enjoy a cup of coffee. Brio has a breakfast and lunch menu and a special brunch menu that is exclusive to Sundays. Brio has really made an effort to expand their outdoor seating and provide different sizes of tables to accommodate both larger and smaller parties. I had no problem finding a seat in the shade, even during peak lunch hours. Staff are working behind plexiglass and every order comes in a disposable container. Ordering in-person is an option, but Brio has a really convenient online ordering system that is frequently updated with their available items. Grab-and-go sandwich and pastry offerings vary by the day. Online ordering can be set for pickup at a time that you choose - you can order anywhere from hours ahead to 15 minutes ahead! Staff are friendly and work very hard to maintain a clean environment and to prepare each meal well. I recommend eating at Brio if you are in the area.

Yelp
We ate here twice during a brief stay over between redwood forest visits. This place is chic and calm, you order at the counter and then they call out orders as they're ready and ask you to clear your own table. Great coffee station - they made me a fabulous almond milk miel latte - and lots of pastries both sweet and savory in the cases in the front. They have lots of breakfast and brunch options and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. It takes a bit of time to get your food but that's because they're making it fresh. I had the veggie omelette one morning and a breakfast sandwich the next, both were delicious. Plus we got some banana bread and chocolate chip cookies to snack on between hikes. It got fairly just at 9 am and later on the weekend shut also opens early and had no line at 7:30 am on Sunday. They have free papers setting out which encouraged us to relax and stay a while. Great spot in downtown Arcata (which is also very charming!).

Jen W.

Yelp
The food here is absolutely delicious and worth every bit of the price. I had the coffee and almond croissant, but have had many items here. Absolutely worth a visit. The only major issue I have with this place, and why I give it four stars instead of five, is that every time I've come they have a major problem with flies inside. If you go and want to eat in Peace, I recommend outdoor seating.
google avatar

Sarah L.

Yelp
Yum yum and yum! I tried the chocolate croissant, it's to die for! Cafe Brio is an open space, lots of room to socialize both indoors and out on their patio. They are located right off the main plaza in Arcata, a super convenient spot to be located at. Contactless menus and paying is available at this location. The service was very friendly, with smiling faces greeting you at the counter wishing you a good morning. Overall, I highly recommend this breakfast spot if you're staying in Arcata!
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered online and it was ready super fast and the employees were super nice to me. The place was super cute and the food was very good. I ended up getting a pre-made sandwich and a chocolate croissant and both were amazing. It is a bit more expensive then some places, but I understand since the place is super nice and the food is made with good ingredients. Would love to come back if I am ever in Eureka again.
google avatar

Yelp
Croque Madame is my favorite item. It's delicious and fresh ingredients. I usually get a Prosecco Mimosa to drink. The service is fast, even when they are busy. Our guests from out of town love the vegan options.
google avatar

Yelp
It was my first visit to Arcata and breakfast was here two days in a row. The first I got surprised with a croissant when my partner got back. It was flakey deliciousness. The second visit we sat down for breakfast and dined inside. I had a ham/cheese croissant and some scrambled eggs/taters and it was delicious! I appreciated after I had ordered a few things al-a cart that the lady at the register recommended a meal so that it wouldn't cost me as much! Those kind of things are always appreciated! The food was delicious both days and they had some decent tea options for me! The coffee drinks looked pretty although it's not something I partake in. Will definitely be back when I return!
google avatar

Sara S.

Yelp
Delicious food, friendly staff, and a cute environment. It was super busy and popular, we would definitely go back. In fact we did! We checked out of our Airbnb and went back to get a slice of banana bread, a cookie, and two sandwiches for the road. Great little spot, highly recommend!

Shawn B.

Yelp
Well it's Humboldt so it's as good of a bakery as we got. Excited coffee but overpriced. Decided sourdough. The wholewheat sourdough seeded sandwich loaf makes the best toast and healthier. I give the bread 5 stars but with what they charge and bakery's in other places a can only give 3 stars. I wish yelp had local and global ratings. Definitely worth grabbing breakfast and coffee if you're in Arcata.
google avatar

Chance K.

Yelp
This is one of those bakeries where it's hard to walk in and not want to purchase one of everything that you see in the cases. We tried a sample of sweet and savory baked goods, and also grabbed a bag of "Ladybug" buns to take home. Everything is absolutely delicious, so you really can't go wrong here. A must stop for any visit to Arcata, located on the perimeter of the town's iconic central square.
google avatar

Kathy M.

Yelp
I had breakfast here. Ingredients were farm fresh; farm eggs, fresh made hash browns from real potatoes, quality Nieman ham. Coffee was strong and good. My husband enjoyed the cream scone. Their bread looks amazing. Friendly service. Indoor or outdoor seating. We'd come back here. No WiFi though

Belinda B.

Yelp
I really enjoy omelette, especially some of the ones I've had in France, but without a doubt, the asparagus omelette at Cafe Brio was the best omelette I've had in my life! Wish I knew how they did it. The rest of the breakfast was good too. We'll be back next time we're in the area.

T. S. F.

Yelp
First off, the food was cold by the time I got it. Secondly, their interpretation of Eggs Benedict needs to be reported to whatever Manhattan society regulates these kind of things. Their California is devoid of meat, the croissant (??) they served it on was stale, and their hollandaise sauce tasted (and looked) like mayonnaise and water. Also, who serves Benedict without a side? If I'm paying more than fifteen dollars for brunch, it should have some potatoes or veggies along with it. Missing T's cafe more every day. I'm still confused by the croissant, especially because they presented the Benedict as almost a sandwich, with half the croissant on top. If they're gonna treat it like that I might as well eat it sans utensils.

Yelp
Great way to start our final road-tripping day. Delicious coffee, well prepared, & lovely pastries.

Beth G.

Yelp
Excellent service and delicious food. Wish the plain black coffee had free refills though!
google avatar

Kirsten V.

Yelp
This is our favorite breakfast place whenever we are in Arcata. My Fav is the brio Benedict. The croissants are so light and fluffy and perfect with a nice soft poached egg. I've never had anything that disappointed me here. My youngest loves the chocolate croissant. We usually take an extra for the road!

Randy M.

Yelp
Trying to correct my 5star rating cuz I am blind and I only hit 1 ? I'm a big fan, need to redress my star factor. (Not a Luddite) 5 stars dream food, good service ambience Kid friendly, relax and enjoy! open air quiet yet great for dialogue!!! Really works

Larry D.

Yelp
Friendly staff, quality light roast (acidic) espresso, and the market vegetable quiche was excellent! Lovely decor and ambiance.
google avatar

Jenn M.

Yelp
This is probably a 4 Star place but the aesthetic bumped it up to 5. I love when a restaurant can give a complete experience. The bread was a bit dense for me but it held up well for toast, sandwiches and became French toast at the very end on day 6. The croissants had good flavor and nice crisp.
google avatar

Chloe R.

Yelp
Was so happy to find this place has vegan options! And not only that the portions were really good. The sauce that comes with the veggie burger is kinda sweet which is not my favorite but it was all still really good and well made. Plus, despite the place being pretty busy, everyones food came out quickly! Was a great experience
google avatar

Shyanne T.

Yelp
Everytime I come here it is just excellent service, everyone is very nice and respectful! The food is absolutely delicious for breakfast I normally get a chocolate croissant and I have tried half of there coffee drinks and every time it is just delicious! You have to try the Milky Way tart!! It is just an amazing café you could read a nice book here or study if you have classes it is just an amazing spot to go if you live or travel through Arcata!
google avatar

Cassandra R.

Yelp
I ordered an iced espresso with an extra shot and caramel sauce. Everything seemed great until I watched the barista pour out part of the espresso, that I paid $1.50 extra for, so she could fit a tiny amount of ice into the very small cup it was served in. The caramel sauce was barely detectable. The ice melted before it became an "iced"espresso. It turned out kinda room temp. Honestly, just serve it in a larger cup with more ice. It doesn't affect your bottom line. Total cost, with tip, over $6. Disappointing.
google avatar

Adam J.

Yelp
A very nice cafe right on the Arcata square. It has plenty of outdoor seating, which is nice for a variety of reasons, but for me specifically it accommodated both of my pups away from folks. The drip coffee was pretty good, 8/10. I didnt go for the single origin, but I suspect it would have been really good. The capps and lattes looked good, cant vouch for taste. I had the granola which for $1 came with fresh fruit on top. The pastries looked phenomenal but i told myself no. That wasnt easy!
google avatar

Michelle R.

Yelp
Always a pleasure to grab any of the pastries at cafe Brio. We've been going here for years and a favorite is the chocolate croissants. Every time we go to the farmers market the kids grab a croissant and munch on it while we walk and shop. Five stars for the incredibly nice staff and the always consistently good pastries. P.s. the coffee is a bit bitter but I still drink some every time hehe

Alan M.

Yelp
Located right on the Arcata Plaza, this a nice place for breakfast or lunch. The menu is rather limited, though everything is we made. Lots of yummy baked goods, any kind of coffee you could want. Staff is courteous and eager to please. Outdoor seating available too.

Steve T.

Yelp
It's the best cafe anywhere near the Plaza. It reminds me very much of Paris (I was there for 2 months on business), both the coffee and pastries (the croissants and eclairs- I started to salivate when I wrote that!) are most excellent. However, please remember that Parisian pastries are not over sweetened like most American substitutes.
