Food: 5/5. I really enjoyed the Steamed Pork & Mushroom Rice Roll with Pork Patty and fish cakes. The Vermicelli in tomato soup with fish cakes (and crab) was also good. I like the fish cake texture and taste more than the crab. The Pho with rare beef well-done beef & beef balls was pretty good. The noodles are thicker than we are used to. The soup is lighter than we are used to as well. Service: 5/5. Friendly service with cold and/or hot tea available. Atmosphere: 4/5. There were only a couple of other customers.

Passed by the street and noticed several pho spots, but this one caught my eye, so I decided to give it a try. Friendly staff, spotless space, and a steaming bowl of rare beef pho that hit the spot. Portions are generous, and you even get a complimentary tea when dining in, which is such a nice touch.

I’ve usually had Southern Vietnamese pho in the past, and while this isn’t my first time trying Northern-style pho, this visit left the strongest impression so far. It really elevated how I see Northern pho. The broth was fresh and light, and you can actually taste the different vegetables and herbs—it’s unique and very refreshing. It doesn’t even need chili or hoisin sauce to enhance the flavor. The restaurant itself is small and simply decorated, but it feels authentic and cozy. Most of the customers looked like local neighbors stopping by, which gave it a very genuine, community feel.

Food was under seasoned for us, we won’t be returning. But food feel home made and full of warmth! Nothing fancy but that’s not a bad thing either. I like the blood sausage and small intestine. One thing to mention is that I tasted a lot of earthiness from the veggies (dirt taste). Not sure if veggies was washed that thoroughly or not. And some pieces definitely was not so fresh (wilting, turning pink) Service was excellent, felt like home. Family run, very welcoming and friendly service! I liked their tea and it is nice that they asked if you want cold or hot tea! Small place but people seem to come and goes pretty quickly. Seem like everyone know everyone there. We ordered: 1. Bun long mam tom - good blood sausage and small intestines. The rest of the organ were soft as well. Tofu was not freshly fried. The sauce need more punch! 2. Banh cuon cha lua - viet ham here tasted different. I like it a lot. Rice roll was thin and have a nice mouthfeel to it. The filling was lacking in portion tho. Again, sauce was not strong enough for me. From what I gathered, it was not made fresh each time. 3. Bun rieu cha ca - quite bland but have a good flavour base. This feel very homey, nice and clean flavour! We did finished the broth!

My favorite Vietnamese place in the city. It ain’t fancy but it’s authentic and delicious. All the food is great. Definitely the best spring rolls in the city. The only problem is choosing which noodle soup to get!

This small restaurant is open late (till 2am on weekends) and always busy! Their noodles are simple and light but very tasty. They have the usual fish cake, crab cake, and beef pho but our favorite is pho sot vang (beef stew noodle). Itsy very flavourful noodle in soup with soft beef pieces…it’s a must try!

Cash and debit only. Soup broth is light and non greasy. Good price for the portion you get. Meat slices were tender. Wishing there were more meat per bowl, but I won’t complain given the price. Decent place overall. Just personally prefer my pho on the more al dente side, and the broth a little heavier.

Make sure to try their pickled garlic. Only saw jars on two tables. We shared a bun rieu cha ca ($13.50) and pho bo ga ($13.50). Broth is on the lighter, cleaner side. Fish cakes were tasty. Noodle portion seems smaller than before. Meats (bone-in chicken, rare beef and well-done beef) in the pho bo ga were a touch overcooked.

Normally i am not a regular for vietnamese rice noodles but this place is recommended by a vietnamese friend. so i decided to try it out A small family style cozy restaurant with a small menu. We tried an appetizer and 3 noodles. The steamed pork and mushroom rice roll was very soft and favorable. Unlike the cantonese rice rolls, these are lighter and softer. We tried the ground pork and crab patty with fried fish cakes in tomato soup, bone in chicken pho and vermicelli with bbq pork (dry). I am not a regular of vietnamese soup noodles mainly because i find their soup bases are too salty most of the time. But the soup bases for the bone in chicken pho and the ground pork soup noodles did surprise me! they are very different and the chicken pho has a clear, lighter and favorful broth while the ground pork noodles has a slightly thicker broth and more intense meat flavor. The minor downside was the bbq pork, it was a bit on the dry side. to note that the sauce which comes with the rice rolls and dry vermicelli is very different from the fish sauce sour sauce from other vietnamese restaurants. It is more of a fruity flavor and less sour which is right on point to my preference

First time having Northern Vietnamese pho so I don't have a comparison, but it was delicious! I got the chicken & beef pho and thought the chicken was better of the two (beef felt a bit dry). Also got an iced Vietnamese coffee and it had an almost chocolatey taste from how rich and dark it was. There seemed to be only one person taking orders and serving, but he was quick and attentive. It's a fairly small space, so suggest going earlier in the day!

Tried their (Vietnamese) white coffee. It was served in a plastic cup, and came out really quickly, which was surprising. I asked and the guy mentioned they have a coffee press. No need to wait 10 minutes for that slow drip. Beautiful. And yes, the coffee was super delicious.

Great tasting pho with several options of great tasting ingredients. Small popular place with friendly helpful service. The soup broths are very good. The grilled pork was tender and juicy, and the egg rolls were very good as were the rice rolls. Definitely one of the better Vietnamese places out there

We came due to the good Yelp reviews plus they had my favorite Banh Cuon. I ordered that and Bun Rieu but was not impressed with either. Banh Cuon came with lettuce and raw sprouts. I am used to cooked sprouts, sliced mint and pickled carrots & radishes as the garnish. The rolls didn't have much fillings. Bun Rieu had ok flavor but was missing blood cubes and tomatoes. Service was nonexistent other than taking order and bringing the food. Hole in the wall with no ambiance. Dang Anh Cafe did not live up to the hype for us.

Decided to make a random stop to this gem in Vancouver on a rainy day. Everytime i drove by i always say a line or just couldn't get a table. Oh and another time i didn't have any cash on me. This place only takes debit and cash. (Disclaimer) I had the Bun Rieu Cha Ca because i wanted to see if it would taste better than what im accustomed to and oooo i enjoyed every bite. The soup was more clear and it didn't give that heavy sluggish feeling after that sometimes pho can give you. There was a perfect amount of dill and the protein was very generous. The crab and pork ratio was made with delicacy and they don't cheap out on ingredients which is always much appreciated! The fish cakes were yummy .. i'd even eat that on the side on its own if i felt like it. I'm definitely having this dish again in the future. I like how their menu carries pho that just isn't full of beef and the basic stuff you see at some other restaurants. Service was good, no language barrier. Vietnamese coffee was perfectly mixed. No watered down stuff and we got our food pretty soon after ordering. My sister ordered their specialty pho that had stir fried eel and glass noodles in soup. (Mien Luon) SOOOOOO GOOD!!! There's parking on the street and a gas station right near by if you need gas right after ! The prices are pretty good paired with the quality. This place has definitely become one of my top 10 vietnamese restaurants in Vancouver. Ambiance was quieter the day we went and it's probably because it was pouring rain outside. But there was a lively table right by us with a bunch of guys eating a whole feast and just hanging out. Think i'd say the place is good for all kinds of crowds. Can't wait to be back! I'd also say they do a good job on keeping the restaurant nice and clean. If you end up going to the washroom you won't feel like the ground is slippery or anything. Haha and the washroom is a good size, door locks. They definitely do change their mop water! So rest assured .. it doesn't smell funky in there.

Yummy and affordable Vietnamese restaurant! Got the Bun Rieu ($13.50) and the Pho Dac Biet ($13.50) and they were both VERY delicious!! Food came super quick and they had a steady flow of people without it being too crowded on a Saturday afternoon. I really liked how the broths don't have too strong of the MSG taste while still being really flavourful! Most times when I have Bun Rieu, the MSG really kicks in and everything else tastes bland after. But it was not the case here! Definitely will be coming back!! (They only take cash or debit!)

Great spring rolls! I'm a firm believer in rice paper spring rolls so this was good and flavourful, though the outer part was a bit thick. Bun rieu tasted clean and light. I do prefer other places but this was a solid 7.5/10! Banh cuon was good, I wish their fish sauce was stronger so it could complement the spring rolls and banh cuon abit better. Good service, guy working was very friendly!

Came here for lunch and was not wowed by the food. It was fine but nothing screamed I gotta come back. The restaurant was fine. Portions were decent and price was cheaper than most Vietnamese restaurants but the flavours were average. Came here with a friend and she had the rare beef pho and said it was ok too. We were going to try this place in the summer but noticed that they didn't have air conditioning so we didn't stay. Came here in December and it was uncomfortably hot inside and we were sweating buckets before eating our meal. Turn down the heat.

Great Pho! A small cafe on Victoria Street where they have so many other Vietnamese restaurants The Pho Bo Ga was my favorite ($12.50) It comes with rare beef, well done beef and bone-in chicken The broth was light and refreshing and the chicken was juicy and full of flavor. FYI, they serve wide rice noodles here as opposed to the thin type The Bun Cha Gio - vermicelli with pork and crab spring roll($12.50) also very tasty. The spring roll was fresh and crispy. The meat was grilled with good flavor without being dry The banh cuon cha lua $12 was disappointing. The rolls were not steamed well and not smooth. Overall, a good experience, friendly service with pumping music The tables were separated by some clear dividers to for distancing measures I was pretty full from the pho! Give Dang Anh a try!

Food was great. We ordered blood congee with pork innards, pho dac biet, spring rolls, iced coffee, and bun thang (not on the menu but part of the specials). The blood congee was delicious and satisfying. The bun thang or chicken soup was very tasty with al dente noodles. The iced coffee had the perfect balance of bitterness and sweet! It's a must order. The service is also fantastic. It felt like our food was made to order. I felt like I was in someone else's home rather than a restaurant. The house tea or drink that they served was cold- perfect for a warm day and it had a hint of pandan leaves but not sweet, very good! The spring rolls were delicious as well, tasted freshly made with just the right proportion of filling to wrap. And the price? Very reasonable! Will definitely come back to try the other items on the menu.

Small hole based family business. Small hole in the wall. And you know what they say about hole in the walls. They're often the best. This place has good phó. Not THE best. But it's good home Vietnamese cooking. Friendly staff. Quick service. Decor is nothing to write home about. It's bland and really nothing special. But other than the decor of the place. Their phó is good. Price is decent in a climate where food prices are skyrocketing and restaurants are generally raising their prices in general. This place still offers a decent deal. It's a small restaurant. So seating is generally limited. Maybe they can fit 20 people in there. Lots of tables that could fit for 2. A few tables that can fit 4. But really if you're coming here with a relatively large group. They won't have space for you. Staff is friendly. Most of them work in the kitchen. I think it's the son that works at the cashier. He's attentive but also on the phone or iPad a lot behind the cashier. He doesn't come around ask customers how things are and what not. Just does the bare minimum. Brings the food out. Doesn't ask if things are okay. And brings you the bill when you're done or when you're asking for it. So if you're a person who loves and wants staff to engage a little more. You won't be finding that here. It's a quick. Get seated. Get your food and leave with little interaction from the staff that's there. Unless you know the family of course. Location is kinda meh. They are close to buses and bus stops on Victoria drive. But no access to Skytrain. Closest one has to be either Nanaimo station or Commercial Drive. Those two just too far to walk to on a winter day. Driving is your best bet here. There is street parking and if you're lucky. Some of it is free. Residential parking your best bet. This neighbourhood still doesn't have too many parking restrictions yet. Take advantage of that. Here's my breakdown. Food 4/5 Ambiance 1/5 Service 3/5 Location 3/5

This small spot offers a more authentic taste compared to its neighbor, even though both are owned by Vietnamese families. The other place caters more to a Chinese clientele, but if you're after genuine flavor, this is the place to go. Plus, the prices here are better if you want to save a couple of dollars. Service at both spots is typical of Vietnamese dining you order, get your food, and they leave you alone. It's not pretentious, just straightforward, which is exactly how Vietnamese service usually is.

Finally tried out this place that is super close to my home and the reviews are quite right in saying that the soup noodles we got were quite delicious and a large portion for the price! We got the beef and chicken pho as well as the bun rieu and cha ca. The noodles in the beef and chicken were a bit thicker but the soup was light yet remained quite tasty albeit a bit oily. The amount of beef and chicken was a little disappointing but there were plenty of noodles to go around! The bun rieu and cha ca noodle was the family favourite because of the tasty broth and lovely fresh crabmeat! Again, the broth was quite tasty and flavourful without a heavy dose of MSG. Definitely a no frills type of place that accepts cash only but is on our list for some authentic noodle soups!

This is one of the rare places in the area you can get a pho that doesn't taste like it's swimming in sugar. The broth is relatively light, so this isn't the place to go for a super rich broth. Unusually small portions for the bun thit nuong (lot of rice, and they pad out the meat with egg rolls as well). Tasty, but just not a lot of food if you don't count the rice. Egg roll is fried interestingly. It's thinner on the outside with a more bubbly, fried, texture than a normal traditional Vietnamese egg roll, but isn't fried in the style of a Chinese egg roll.

First time here and I wasn't impressed. The cha gio, though has crab, was under-seasoned. I just wish I can really taste the crab there Bun dau mam tom: portion is great with different parts of organs and the shrimp paste was amazing. But the "dồi" was too chewy. Bun rieu cha ca: doesn't really taste like Bun rieu but more like Bun cha ca with rieu. It's a great dish though

I saw that all the reviews were saying that this spot makes pho that is very close to pho from Hanoi. I cannot comment on that as I have never been there; however I can compare it to other places here in Vancouver. We ordered the beef+chicken (Pho Bo + Ga) and the fish cake + crab (Bun Rieu + Cha Ca). The first impression is that the pho is much blander than anywhere I've been. The Bun Rieu Cha Ca has a lot of fish cake and crab on it and it is still quite tastey, but still lighter on the taste compared to other places. It has more dill flavor. The Pho Bo + Ga was very bland with a good amount of beef but only 3 pieces of chicken. We also came here because no other place has the chinese donuts viet style. We were here at 4pm and they only had 1 left already. We ordered it and it was cold - so it was premade in the morning I guess. I did enjoy it though. There are only about 3 or 4 tables inside that allows seating and plenty of street parking.

There are way too many options for Vietnamese in the city but you can never go wrong with Café Dang Anh. They specialize in Northern Vietnamese food and are next door to El Caracol Cafe. There's 6 tables inside but they also have one small table out front. Majority of the diners eating in always seem to be Vietnamese. The menu is small with just over a dozen options (prices mostly in the $11.00 to $12.00 range including taxes). There's also off-menu fried doughnuts ($1.00) that most customers order. The tea (both hot and cold) are comforting. We got hints of coconut from the hot version. - Bun rieu + cha ca ($11.00) - crab meat was fantastic and the fish cakes are homemade. Broth smells amazing and has good depth and balance to it. Light on the dill side (when comparing to Hoang Yen) but still a tasty bowl. - Pho dac biet ($11.00) - broth is simple but has an underlying level of depth and flavour to it. Light and clean. - Chao long ($11.00) - this is pork organ/innard/offal congee. I've never had the Vietnamese version before. It comes with sliced pork kidney, stuffed pig intestine and pig uteri. I liked it. The congee was surprisingly flavourful. - Pho bo + ga ($11.00) - broth is clean but again, on the lighter side. Beef slices were tender. Same with the chicken except you only get about 3 pieces. - Pho sot vang ($12.00) - haven't seen this dish elsewhere. The broth was clean with good depth and a hint of wine essence comes through. Good mix of meats and textures. - Pho bo tai lan ($12.00) - R liked that it came with some vegetables. He slurped up the broth; game changer for him is that they add garlic. Cash only. If you can only pick one dish, my favourite here is the bun rieu + cha ca. Will be trying their bun oc next time.

Came here almost 12am. They serve authentic pho ga and also bun rieu. The servers are also very helpful! Great food for authentic Vietnamese dishes.

There's so many great Vietnamese restaurants in the area, but this hidden gem is my fave. There's usually a small lineup but it goes pretty quick. I always order the bun rieu cha ca (crab & grilled fish rice noodles) with Chinese donuts & a Vietnamese iced coffee.

Best Bun Cha Ca + Bun Rieu in town!!! It's a little different here because they mix Bun Cha Ca and Bun Rieu together. If you like both of these varieties then you would love them together. Just heavenly! The spring rolls were super greasy but crispy and super tasty with morsels of water chestnut. I also enjoyed the complimentary tea they serve here, it was a fragrant green tea different than other Asian restaurants. Space is pretty small inside and they tried their best to social distance the tables. Service was friendly but a bit lacking due to only 2 people serving a full restaurant plus lots of take out.

Quite surprised I haven't written a review about Cafe Dang Anh yet! Our friends introduced this place to us early last year and we haven't looked back since. On my first visit, I got the Bun Rieu + Cha Ca (Grilled Fish + Fresh-water Crab Rice Noodles), fiance ordered Bun Cha Ca (Grilled Fish Rice Noodles), and our friends ordered Pho Bo Tai Lan (Rice Noodles with Beef). We also got their Spring Rolls for an appetizer. Everything was sooooo good. It definitely hit the spot! Fast forward to last month.. a girlfriend of mine raved about their Pho Ga (Chicken Pho) at Cafe Dang Anh! So convincingly so... that we actually ordered 5 bowls of their chicken pho and took it with us on our trip to Kelowna.. and it was so good! So, I already knew what to order on my most recent visit here. Had to have it again! Taste just as good as when I first tried it when we took it to Kelowna. I also wanted to get the Banh Cuon but they had already sold out for the day, so instead we got the Egg Rolls again. Fiancé chose the 'Pho Bo + Ga' (beef and chicken pho) this time. Such a satisfying dinner!

3 star if COVID-19 procedure was followed better. They currently close at 7pm so call to double check their hours. Please read the end for how the store coped with COVID-19 procedures (it was shocking). They did not take temperature or our contact information. Hand sanitizer was available upon entry. I came with my mom and was super excited to try their bun rieu + bun cha as everyone in the reviews raved about it. I am sad to say it was disappointing and the one across the street Bun Cha Ca is much more flavourful and packed with toppings. The soup here was not piping hot, flavour wasn't up to par compared to all the bun cha I've had and noodles were on the soft side with no bite to it. I am an avid lover of bun cha + bun rieu! My mom ordered the pho dac biet and didn't take a bite at all. We asked to get a box to go. The table we sat at was next to the 6 seater close to the cash register. I sat facing the wall and my mom could see the entire restaurant from there. The reason she didn't eat it? The young male who sat us simply did not wash his hands at all. We came today (Sunday 3:00pm ). He was medium built, wore a light blue essentials hoodie, and about 5'9). He seats, takes orders, does cash, busses, and makes drinks as well. My mom witnessed him clean the two tables beside us, took a payments then quickly brought out food. He dropped the dishes so fast there was not way he did a thorough 30 second hand wash. A lady ( 5'6, slim built) showed up shortly after him and I saw her put on a fresh face mask which was great. However, she kept touching her facemask before and after handling food. I think this is the worst I have seen so far after going out to several restaurants during the pandemic. I would be okay if I heard the water run and assume he washed his hands.

A nice hot bowl of noodle soup is the perfect way to spend any day! And this is a new found favourite! The restaurant itself doesn't look like much but you'll be quite surprised by the pho they offer here! They have a decent variety and the free range chicken is highly recommended here along with the Chinese donut and springrolls! We ordered the Crabmeat Soup with Vermicelli + Spring Roll + Free Range Chicken + Chinese Donut. The spring rolls here have the lightest wrapper I have ever tried before which adds that extra crisp. And the donut is the perfect way to fill you up to the top by dipping it in that steamy hot pho broth!

If you're longing for the classic spring roll made the same way on the streets in Vietnam, then this is it! The owner brings her own rice paper wrapper back from Vietnam! The result is a much thinner coat that provides the perfect crunch level on every bite! And of course, it is cooked to order so it comes out piping hot. The pho, too, was pretty good. I enjoy the soup base and the volume is enough to fill me up. Lunch seems super busy by 12 noon, but dinner to not too bad at all.

Everyone has biases of their own. One of mine is being turned off by small hole in the wall restaurants. I don't doubt there's good food in them, Makes me a tad nervous to try from the appearance. My sister however brought up trying out Dang Anh Cafe. I was quite pleasantly surprised by my meal here. There's quite a variety of dishes available on the menu. I'm used to coming into a pho restaurant and wondering what kind of beef cuts will I be having on that day. Instead, there's a couple neat items that caught my eye. There's the relatively standard beef and chicken options but also grilled fish and crabmeat. Knowing they have something somewhat unique to share, you can get both of them in the same dish. Easy choice for me to make as I was excited to see how grilled fish and crabmeat would work. When I finally got the dish, it looked really nice and tasty. When I started to dig in, I realized what a treat I was having. There's a nice variety of veggies involved and it gives a whole lot of different flavours. I had bean sprouts, lettuce, tomatoes, and a couple other veggies I couldn't recognize but all had some unique taste characteristics and made for a different bite each time. The broth was solid and I couldn't stop drinking it up. The crabmeat was good but I actually didn't find it that special. I actually enjoyed the grilled fish portions a bit more and would have liked to have even more of that. This was a pretty solid experience overall. I'd consider going back and seeing how their more standard beef noodle dishes would taste like but probably would give into the temptation of having the grilled fish again. I would recommend people give this restaurant a try and get a tasty dish on those colds days.

The portions here are pretty bad. I did Uber pick up and ordered a pho and it literally had small scraps of rare beef. I'm not really sure what's going on here. I also ordered a dried vermicelli and it was more lettuce then noodles. It was a big disappointment.

Small pho restaurant on Victoria Dr. Not too many tables and it gets busy during lunch time. Bun Rieu Cha Ca here is really good and it's $10. Comes with a lot of crab meat and fish cakes. Broth is very flavourful. Highly recommend and if you like bun rieu then you definitely need to try this place. Friendly staffs and this place is cash only!

I like it because the put less MSG in the soup. Everything input into mouth tastes like it is made from the raw ingredient. Their cooking is so much of a home-made dish. Recommended!

There are so many great options for pho in this area that it sometimes gets a little hard to figure out where to get your fix. Wanted to try a new place this time and with the suggestion of fellow yelpers, we found ourselves here. This little place is tucked away between two mexican places and can be easy to pass by if you're not paying attention. We got the Bun Rie + Cha Ca pho (Grilled fish and fresh water crab pho), spring rolls and the Banh Cuon Cha Lua (stuffed pancake pork pie). We also saw a bunch of people ordering chinese donuts on the side so we got an order as well. The pho noodle itself is a wider version than the regular pho noodle. Like the cantonese style rice noodle. The soup is a mild sweet tomato based stock that is fresh and super flavourful. Although similar to the Hoang Yen style, Dang Anh's is a more milder and fresher taste in my opinion. The fish cakes were the star of the dish for me. It was fragrant and full of flavour. The stuffed pork pancake is similar to the cantonese style rice rolls you can get at a dim sum restaurant. They came with a side of veggie and herbs and some vietnamese ham. It's a little on the small side so if you're hungry it may not be enough. They come with fish sauce to dunk the rice rolls in and they are amazing! This is a super fresh dish to get if you're not in the mood for hot noodles. The rice rolls are nice and thin and the meat to roll ratio was perfect, not too much or too little. Spring rolls were nice, not amazing but okay. The wrapping is good not like the lame chinese restaurant wonton skin ones, actual rice paper roll. Tl;dr Great noodles and broth. Restaurant owner/servers are really nice and helpful. They take their time to explain dishes and make recommendations which is very hard to find in many vietnamese restaurants. Would definitely recommend if you want yummy noodles and don't want to wait in line for the other competitors around the area.

I don't usually write reviews so here goes nothing~ Ordered pho tái and a chao long (porridge). Pho has a good portion with tasty flavor same for the chao long.

I was in Vancouver and made an effort to search for the best Pho in British of Columbia since Asian food are better in BC. After searching for a couple of days I decided to give this one a try. Glad I did and it blew my mind. This would literally be your hole in the wall type of place, it's pretty run down, but if you can look pass the aesthetics/ambiance, then you're in for a treat. It serves the best pho in the Pacific Northwest, very close if not better than what we had at the busiest pho joint in Dong Xuan market in Hanoi. If you have been to Hanoi and tasted what I taste, you'll know what I'm talking about. I've returned 2 more times after my first visit, came from the States for a weekend specifically to bring my friends and relatives to try out their pho, and they're with me, Dong Anh Cafe pho is the best! If people visited Vancouver and asked me where they can find the best pho place, I would tell them that while it's too difficult to pick one place that serves the very best bowl of pho, I can definitely recommend a single place that is entirely on another classification for the authenticity. See what real pho looks and tastes like in Dang Ahn Cafe. This place has been recommended to me from my good friend who says she almost teared up on her first bowl of noodle soup from here because of how much it reminded of her dearly missed home in Hanoi. Before going for one of the beef noodle soup offerings that you would normally do, please consider the "Bun Rieu + Cha Ca" which is their most popular menu item that combines their Fish Cake soup and Crab soup. And DO order their "Chinese Donut" for dipping, which will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of your visit here. On your subsequent visit, either try their "Pho Dac Biet" or "Pho Bo + Ga" which is half beef and half free-range chicken pho. Order Chinese Donuts as well, of course. This place makes you realize that you've been nothing but a Sweet-And-Sour-Pork-eating punk kid who knows jack about a proper bowl of Vietnamese noodle soup. Well now I'm a learned man.

I've been here a few times and I was so stupid for only trying their Pho Bo Tai cause I was too scared to try something new. Nonetheless that was still very delicious. A must try is their Bun Rieu Cha Ca or Bun Rieu. The soup is so flavorful and they give you so much crabmeat and fish cakes. The menu is pretty limited here but that's when you know everything is perfected and they know what they're doing. If you want to order the Chinese donut you must go early or they'll sell out for the day. Another thing I like about this place is their tea, it's very different than anywhere else and there's a hint of coconut flavor or something similar.

Checked out this little Vietnamese place on the recommendation of a fellow Yelper and am I ever glad I did. I have been searching for a Vietnamese restaurant that really stands out from the rest in Vancouver and I think this may be the one. The restaurant itself is far from fancy but as soon as you walk in you get the vibe of an authentic family run Vietnamese restaurant. The service was friendly and we did not have to wait when we strolled in close to lunch time on a Saturday. The menu itself is fairly small (great sign) and they have a selection of different noodles soups and other dishes. We tried the rare beef pho and the chicken pho. The broth was absolutely amazing. It was light and yet flavourful with richness and complexity. The style of broth reminds me of Hanoi style pho where it is not as heavy. The meat in both phos were high quality and the chicken is free range. We got the Chinese donuts which were strongly recommended by a friend and it was the perfect compliment to dip inside the soup. However, apparently these can sell out so come early! We also got the iced Vietnamese coffee and it was among the best I have had! I am a huge coffee guy and the coffee here is nice and strong without being overly bitter. This is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Vancouver with delicious and authentic food. I would definitely not come here for the ambience but it's worthwhile making a trip out of it for the food alone. Cash only!

4 Stars Free 2 hour street parking along Victoria Drive and parking all around the surrounding residential area. First impressions, very small (hole in the wall) place, around 8 tables. Very old interior. We came in around 11am, first ones in there. Ordered: Bun Rieu Cua - Crab meat noodle soup. Bun Cha Ca - Fish cake noodle soup. The broth here is not your typical pho broths at majority of the pho restaurants throughout the city. Much more cleaner and not as salty. The noodle soups come with a dish of greens, bean sprouts, chilies, and lime. Service was very good, friendly, helped us with the menu with some recommendations. Overall Experience: Service - 9.5/10 Cleanliness - 5.5/10 Food - 7.9/10 Value - 8/10 Parking - 9/10

If I was basing my review just on taste, dang anh would have received 5 stars however, comfort of the resto plays a factor hence the 4 star rating. Dang Anh's specialty is bun rieu and pho ga that uses free range chicken. The broth for both were quite good but I was thirsty after the meal. You can add cha ga (fish cakes) to the bun rieu which was a game changer! The cha ga was quite good, comparable to my favourite (Hoang Yen) and the crab cake was legit too. They use rice paper for the spring rolls which I don't like as it absorbs more oil but the taste was on point. Aside from all the delicious food, what I liked the most was actually their cold tea! It had a really nice coconut flavour to it but unfortunately, I found out it was bought in Vietnam. Now, on to the interior of the restaurant. The first thing I noticed was how much stains were on their white fabric seats. Combine with dirty floors, stained walls and cracked table tops, needless to say, I was really uncomfortable.

The reviews are not wrong. The food is good here. I recently did a pho episode and Dang Anh Cafe was on the list. It's the equivalent of fast food pho without the bad parts about fast food. I ordered the crab meat noodle soup with the fried fish cakes. Amazing. Wish there were less lemon grass but i loved the dill, the soup base, the noodles. Remember, cash only.

Dang Anh Cafe is a very unassuming small restaurant located just off Victoria and 36th. It has a very family-style feel, and while the people who work there don't say much, they don't have to. After all, you go to hole-in-the-wall kind of establishments for the food, not the service. The thing that stood out most to me was the broth of both my well-done beef soup and my friend's crab meat noodle soup. Both broths were extremely clean and light-tasting, but still packed with flavor. My pho broth was fragrant and savory without being hearty. The rice noodles were wider than I was used to and might have been a touch too soft, but they didn't take away from the flavor of the soup at all. My friend's crab meat broth was deliciously seafood-y without tasting briny, and it also managed not to be heavy or oily. Cash only, and we each paid $10 (tax and tip inclusive) for a very satisfying meal. I'll be back again for sure!

No better place to have a nice, comforting bowl of pho - or basically any soup they have on the menu - it's a great spot to visit on a cold, rainy day. Bear in mind that it is a small space, so it tends to get busy. My go-to order would be their chicken pho and chinese donuts. I love dipping the donuts in the broth, or even in their coffee for something on the sweeter side. Their bun rieu was also really good! It's the first time that I've tried it, but definitely something that I'll find myself craving. Both soups that I had were packed with flavor, not too salty and were perfect in terms of portion. I wouldn't ever hesitate coming here and I really wish it was closer to home. Obviously, my review is based off the food alone. The restaurant itself just meets the basic criteria, nothing fancy. I'm not going to dock any points off the interior because I'm not coming here for ambiance, it's strictly for their food.

Prices are great and the soup noodles are quite good as there prolly no Msg but the menu items and few...it's good to try new places and taste the diversity of Vancouver! There are so many different ways of cooking the same dish! Would I go back, prolly not! I prefer Hoi An Cafe down the block over this place.

Best chao long ever! Northern style lòng and dồi that make me feel like I was eating in Hanoi. Wish I could bring some to California. Will come back to try other dishes.

Went with my mom at 12 for lunch on a Monday and this place was pretty packed. Luckily, we did not have to wait long. We were served cold pandan lemongrass tea and I was pleasantly surprised at how refreshing it was. We ended up ordering the Bun Rieu Cha Ca and the Pho Dac Biet. The Bun Rieu Cha Ca was 10/10. The Cha Ca was the chewy, puffy, sweer, and perfect. The Pho Dac Biet broth was very clear and not overly salty. However, it is a bit small and does not come with the wide assortment of meats that other places have. Overall, the Bun Rieu Cha Ca is a must try!

I saw some good reviews of Dang Anh cafe and have been bookmarked it for long time. We finally came here to check it out. It's small Vietnamese restaurant, probably only 10-12 small tables. It located on Victoria Dr & 35th Ave. This cafe definitely something different than other pho places. They dont hv BBH but chicken pho. My hubby ordered Vietnamese congee (minced pork liver and blood porridge), it was ok. I had house special crab meat and fish patties with vermicelli, it was good. The spring roll was crispy but too greasy. Too bad the Vietnamese ham rice roll just sold out. If you dont like intestines dish (like me), this is not place for you!

Dang Anh Cafe is my favorite Vietnamese restuarant in Vancouver. My friends brought me here for lunch as they frequently dine in at this spot. We were greeted immediately by the server and the restaurant was already busy but we were seated only after waiting for a few minutes. I ordered the Phở Dặc Biệt and we shared chinese donuts. When our food arrived, I always try the broth of pho first and the broth was definitely the star of the dish; it was perfectly savoury and had a very clean aftertaste. The noodles they use at Dang Anh Cafe are flat rice noodles which I prefer to the generic thin rice noodles. The beef brisket was tender and the beef balls were very tasty. The highlight was eating the chinese donut with the soup for a perfect combination of the crispy donut absorbing the savoury broth. Don't pass up on this hidden gem! This place is perfect for groups or a casual date night.

I love the food here. It's super small and no frills, but the pho ga and bun rieu cha ca here are comfort food at its best. Great depth to the broth and large portions at a reasonable price. I love mom and pop shops like these that consistently put out good food. My only complaint is it really is a hole in the wall joint with several mismatched tables that aren't the most comfortable. When it's busy, the wait can also be pretty long. But I still think it's worth it to come here and get my bun rieu fix! Now if only I could get pho like this in Downtown...

Ordered the popular bun rieu cha ca for takeout and it was very delicious. A lot of oil on top though, I skimmed some off. They put a generous amount of crab meat and fish cakes. The herbs and veggies are very flavourful too.
