Cafe De Hong Kong 良心冰室

I am K.

Google
Joined the "30 min waitlist" at 10:05am on the weekend and the table actually was accepted within 5 mins and you have 5 mins to get to your table. Very quick. Ordered the Hiananese chicken and it was fantastic! The BBQ chicken lo miren was good because the noodle tenderness was perfect. However, I found the chicken too salty and the noodles too sweet. The beef satay vermicelli was very tasty. I didn't try the toast with black truffle but it's a great deal. Everything came with a free drink.

Google
Their waitlist could use a lot of improvement and I don't think it's worth waiting over half an hour for any restaurant. Having said that, this is a great HK cafe that does the same silky smooth eggs as they do in HK. I like their Hainan chicken (could use more flavour though), the fried chicken pineapple bun (warning: can be very messy to eat so work attire beware), and the foie gras truffle egg pineapple bun (couldn't really taste the foie gras though). I love salted egg yolk anything so the French toast was delicious, YMMV. The only dish I wouldn't order again is the baked pork chop rice as their pork chop is really thin and you're left with mostly rice.

Google
This is the most hyped HK style cafe which always had a long lineup and wait times. My party of two went on a Saturday around 3:30pm, joined the wait list before and waited less than 5 minutes when we arrived. I felt like I hit the jackpot when we got in! We ordered Hainanese Chicken Rice, it being their signature dish, and it didn’t disappoint. It’s probably one of the (few) best I ever had. Service was good, I’d call it intuitive with the Hong Kong style efficiency. The restaurant was super busy but we didn’t have to remind, or ask for anything. The food and drinks were great, and I find the price on the low side given their portions. I could see people ordering mostly Hainanese chicken rice(at least one order every table!), and the bolo bun sandwiches, which looked scrumptious. The ambiance is typical HK eatery style, busy, noisy and lively. It is fast food kind of place, you eat and you go, no lingering around. The food is great so I will definitely come back to try more dishes.

This place was packed when we arrived. Many people raved about the food here so we decided to give it a try. We finally got our seats after waiting for more than 40 minutes. The restaurant has a very simple design but it was packed since it was lunch time. We ordered the famous house special pineapple with butter buns, Hunan Chicken, and a Satay beef noodle. The buns were very tasty but with a large piece of butter inside, I'm concerned about my cholesterol. I guess once in awhile is okay. The other dishes were also just okay. I would skip the fried rice. For the wait, I think we would go somewhere else instead of waiting. Go give this a try if you wish.

The wait time is worth it!! We’ve been wanting to try this place for a long time but the waitlist is always so long. We finally were able to get a seat by joining the waitlist on Yelp about 45-60 mins ahead of time. Try having multiple people join the waitlist at different times in case your turn is up and you’re not ready for your table yet. This place is hard to come with a bigger party, but doable. We were a table of 6 and they accommodated us in a booth plus added a table and extra chairs so we could all sit together. Everything our party got was so good. The chicken an avocado pineapple bun was insane. A must try. The crunchy toast with peanut butter and condensed milk is also a classic, which we of course got. The salted egg York corn was good, but we did wish the seasoning was more spread around to get the flavour all over. So many different options to choose from. Must come back to try different dishes. There’s a reason why this place is packed. Great food and super reasonable prices!

Google
Food was decent although the duck egg spicy salt corn was a bit salty (it's duck eggs so that's too be expected). It was a 1.5 hour wait but it was fine since we were busy at the mall anyway. I'm not sure if it's worth all the hype though - there are many others that are equally good in the area (e.g Blue Ocean). Staff were super friendly. Nothing wrong with it but come after 3pm to avoid the wait on weekends.

Google
This place is super busy almost always. Is it worth waiting 45 mins for? Probably not. Is it gooof? Yes it is. Would I go back? Probably but if it’s busy I wouldn’t wait long. My only criticism of my meal there was that the two pieces of ham I got were paper thin. I get it, but would have been nice to have it a bit more substantial. Wasn’t exactly ready to serve hot either. You can add your name to waitlist via the Yelp app to save you some time. It’s not the most spacious place with is common for a HK cafe.

Google
Came on weekend but got no table. Ordered take out and it’s really out of our expectation. Love the cube toast with overtine sauce! Came here again for dine in, no line up for weekday afternoon. Price is below average and food came fast after ordered. A bit too much sauce on rice and noodles but overall it’s good for a quick meal. Service is ok.

Grape Juice B.

Yelp
It's very cheap so don't expect the highest quality or presentation. Food is decent but great for the price. Portions are reasonable as well. The service is fast and check in is convenient from the tablet when you go in.

Yelp
The signature HK iced milk tea with the traditional Ding Ding Candy (honeycomb candy) is absolutely mind-blowing. The milk tea is truly authentic, silky smooth, great tea taste, with a perfect ice level. The Ding Ding Candy is basically the same treat as the middle of the Cadbury Crunchie Bar. Super crunchy with a beautiful caramel kick. Perfectly pairs up with the awesome tea. It's my first time having this drink, and I simply can't believe how good it is! \^o^/ Seriously, it is a must-try! Other than the drink, you know it is Cafe de Hong Kong... There is no need to say more about their fantastic dishes. The Deep Fried Whole Chicken Leg with different flavors to choose from, the Devil Salted Egg French Toast, the Black Truffle Silky Smooth Pan Fried Egg, and so on, you name it. Everybody in Markham knows how great they are. Line up virtually to avoid disappointment. Expect a 2-hour e-line on weekends. It is very typical, and it tells you how good it is. Highly recommended.

Yelp
NOTE: If you do decide to come, I HIGHLY recommend joining the waitlist powered by Yelp. You can find it on Google. This has to be one of the most popular HK style restaurants in the GTA. we joined the waitlist at 12:30pm on a Saturday and got our table at 2:30pm. We came in and got seated right away. The ambiance was quite cool with unique HK style art hanging on the walls. We got a window seat and it was very comfortable and spacious. We ordered the Bake pork chop rice, Clay Pot Beef Instant noodle, Hainanese chicken rice, and their Satay Squid Tentacles with Fish Balls. It came with 3 hot drinks and we got all HK style milk teas. The service was quite normal but good for a Chinese restaurant. The Bake pork chop rice was delicious and the pork was really tender. My only issue is with the portion sizes. the dish itself is very shallow. Same with the clay pot instant noodle, there was only a couple pieces of beef. The Satay Squid and Fish balls was tasty but way too salty. The fish ball had a interesting chewy texture instead of a "QQ" texture. I've never had fish balls with this kind of texture but I actually don't mind it at all. I had to drink like 2 bottles of water on the drive home. The only thing I thought was really good was the Hainanese chicken rice and their milk teas. the chicken rice was flavorful and oily (in a good way) and the chicken itself was very tender, juicy and delicious. The milk tea's had a very strong tea flavor which is how I prefer my HK style milk teas and is one of the better ones in the city. Overall: The food is honestly not bad at all. The main issue is with the portion sizes. If you don't eat a lot, then it's probably fine. I would skip the Satay squid and Fish balls. The Hainanese chicken rice and their milk teas are definitely really good though. But is it worth the wait ? Absolutely NOT. Although, I will probably come back and try a few other dishes that I wanted to try. I would rate it a 3.5/5 Stars

Yelp
Still such a solid hk cafe the only downside is the wait time but at least you can virtually queue ahead of time. It took us a 2 hour wait from the moment I joined the queue at 11am but thankfully service is fast. The fried toast is a must and I love anything with cheese so you can't go wrong with the baked pork chop with rice. Only downside is they don't let you substitute anything (eg. spaghetti) or for my husband he wanted chicken instead of beef because of his gout but they only do what's exactly on the menu.

Yelp
One of the best Hainan chicken spots in Toronto. The chicken is juicy and not dry. The oil rice tastes great, and there are three sauces to mix and match: sweet soy sauce, hot sauce, and scallion oil. The signature milk tea is very good and comes in a cute vintage bottle with their logo. It has strong caffeine. It's an extra $2 to swap it into the combo. The lineups get long, so it's best to join the Yelp virtual waitlist 30 minutes to 1 hour before you plan to arrive. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We got here about 5 minutes before opening on a Saturday morning. The restaurant seats about 41 people. Our order was taken at 10:05am and our food started to come out within 15 minutes. My friend ordered the Meal set C - $10.95 and I ordered the foie gras with egg and truffle in a pineapple bun - $11.95 and a salted egg yolk French toast - $9.95 and added a HK milk tea for $1.25 more. My friend said his soup was bland and they gave a lot of rice noodles. I thought it was an affordable option considering the amount of food you get but it's not something I'd order. I thoroughly enjoyed my pineapple bun with truffle, egg and foie gras. It had a decent amount of truffle flavor and the egg was runny. The only issue I had with it is that the top part of the bun was a bit stale. You definitely would want to use a fork and a knife to eat this. The salted egg yolk French toast was such a treat. A perfect amount of salted egg yolk goodness awaits as you cut into the toast. It's very rich and decadent. Don't count your calories here. Pay at the counter.

Yelp
Pretty good Hong Kong style cafe, food was as expected! Highly recommend getting on the waitlist before you get there because we waited over an hour for our table despite adding our names early during a weekend lunch hour. There were about 71 tables ahead of us...yikes! Was it worth the wait? Depends on how hungry you get while waiting I guess! The portion sizes were quite large and prices were reasonable as such. If you're craving HK food, this will hit the spot! The only downside is the massive wait for it.
google avatar

Gordon C.

Yelp
Worth the wait! First, be sure to put yourself on the Yelp waiting list and check-in on the tablet when you arrive. They don't call out names one by one in a strict order, but instead notify batches of customers that tables are ready, and it's first-come first-served within each batch. Once you've braved the long wait, you are seated elbow-to-elbow in this tiny and always-packed restaurant. But you're here for the awesome food: the hainan chicken rice is a star, with a very generous portion of chicken (half a chicken?), delicious rice and accompanying sauces. It sells out quickly so don't expect it to be still available at dinner time. Our other favourite is the BLB with foie gras and black truffle egg (#101, $12), which we call the "umami bomb"... the pairing of the crunchy BLB, and rich and creamy egg/foie gras is awesome! Each meal comes with a free drink, and their HK-style milk tea is great, as are their premium drinks available with a slight upgrade fee.

Yelp
Overall rating: 4.5/5 I can't believe it's taken me this long to visit this iconic HK cafe. I happened to be in the area and came on a day & time when there wasn't a ridiculous line/wait (which is rare, let me tell you). I've heard so many rave reviews, so I had high expectations going in for the food! This spot is 100% as good as people claim. Of course, I had to get the HK milk tea - a true test of their authenticity. Strong tannins, rich tan colour, and the right balance of creamy evaporated milk. I also tried one of their pineapple bun burgers (fried chicken & avocado), which is a speciality of this cafe. I haven't seen this offered elsewhere. The burger was incredible, and it even made the table beside us go "Wow!" A generous portion of fried chicken that was fried to perfection with ketchup and mayo. Though I will say that there was minimal avocado compared to what I expected (just a light spread on the burger bun instead of sliced avocado). The two factors that knock down my rating score are 1) finding parking can be awful, and 2) the wait time can get ridiculous (like a 1-2 hour wait).

Yelp
No frills great cha chan teng. The service was quick and to the point and the food was delicious! It was great! We ordered the HK milk tea which comes unsweetened and you add however much sugar you want. The instant noodle with spam and fried egg reminds me of childhood. And we ordered the baked rice which was delicious! The foie gras, black truffle and egg pineapple bun was sooo yummy and the salted egg yolk piggy bun was just right. Would definitely come back again!

Yelp
Been meaning to check this place out, and boy, It did not disappoint !!! It was so good. As a party of 2, was able to join wait list line within 4km distance of the restaurant. Was able to seat after approx 30 min wait around 11:30/12 on a Monday. I hear there's always usually a line. Ordered their popular items including their: - Haianese chicken - boneless, soft chicken (generous portion) with flavourful rice. Amazing. Would highly recommend. I understand why people keep coming back for this. - Clay pot satay beef with instant noodles & fish cake. Packed with so much flavour, I also understand how this is something people come back for. - molton salted egg yolk French toast! Wow was this a flavour punch. Also super filling. You can definitely share this. A sweet and savory snack would recommend eating it fresh. Service was fast and attentive. Food came out fast. Casual setting, limited seats! Overall would come back and try other items on their menu. Loved it.

Yelp
Food is fair Service is friendly Seating is bad, waiting time is long Ambience: hard to find parking

Yelp
3.5/5 stars rounded up to 4. If you're not grabbing lunch (or afternoon tea) and work a regular 9-5 job, then you basically have like 2 hours to grab food because they close at 7pm on both weekdays AND weekends. Absolutely bonkers hours tbh. And then on TOP of all that, there's also a waitlist that can balloon super fast if you don't get on it at JUST the right time. All of this meant that various stars had to align for me to get a table for dinner at around 6 pm on a weekday. My mind was dead set on trying that hainanese chicken rice and hk milk tea w/ ding ding candy. Sadly, as soon as I sat down and called a waitress over, she told me right as I ordered that they had sold the last chicken rice order literally 10 min before I sat (BIG SAD). I ordered a classic baked pork chop rice w/ cheese instead and the aforementioned hk milk tea w/ ding ding candy (little sugar). While the pork chop was good, I feel like the overall portion size of the dish was small and didn't really care for the addition of corn to the fried rice underneath. Admittedly, I've had way better baked pork chop rices. The addition of ding ding candy was a cool twist! If you submerge the candy for a couple secs, they got soft. The milk tea was very average. I will try the bottled milk tea on my next visit instead. Will have to return again to try the hainanese chicken rice.

Yelp
Located behind First Markham place you can find this small hong kong style fast food restaurant. This place requires you to add your name on the waitlist either in person or on the yelp app. Apparently you need to be within 2KM before adding yourself on the list. The place has a few booths and quite a lot of 2 person seats in the middle. Luckily we got seated at the booth side which is a huge plus for me in my opinion. The service was fast, the food came out quick. Price was basically quite similar to other HK fast food restaurants and they also offer combos. I also ordered their milk tea cold and they put just about 3-4 pieces of ice - very good! Although I think it lacks tea itself. It has more of the milk than tea. We got the shrimp, bbq pork, egg on rice with sweet soy sauce reminds me of old school Richmond Court's soy sauce. This dish felt like it lacked something... not sure what but will try something else when I come back. We also got the salted egg in french toast and to be honest it's a deadly dish, lots of calories for sure can should be shared haha! It was really yummy though!! Will come back for it maybe once every 5months... I'll come back again 100%

Yelp
One of the more hyped up HK style cafes in the Markham / greater Toronto area. Good thing there is Yelp waitlist so we joined a little after 10am and the wait was 2 hours. Note this was on a Sunday, so it is a little less busy than a Saturday, but still pretty long wait. If you miss first seating, it's a minimum 1 hour wait since the service is fast but not that fast. We got the breakfast sets C and D, as well as baked pork chop rice in tomato sauce, molten salted egg yolk French toast, and fried chicken and avocado pineapple bun. We also tried the dong ding candy HK milk tea just for the novelty, which has a crunchy sticky candy with the typical HK milk tea. It is good for a dessert but I would not consider it a drink Breakfast sets were pretty good value as you can get a drink for a subsidized surcharge (or complimentary regular tea or coffee) and comes with various dishes. Some of them were fairly plain like scrambled eggs but they did it well with over easy - just note it is a little sweet. I love the noodle soups as they were quite refreshing and flavorful, especially the satay beef one from set D. Baked pork chop rice in tomato sauce was good but not the best due to the way they made the sauce - Good Catch does it better. For optimizing, I would recommend the other dishes. Molten salted egg yolk French toast was pretty good and hearty. A little overhyped but worth to share. Fried chicken and avocado pineapple bun is huge. One order can easily fill up 2 people. The pineapple bun is fairly sweet, and there is a generous amount of fried chicken. This type of dish kind of reminds me of the Macau pork chop buns, just with a twist. Service is actually quite friendly and efficient, which is something not often seen in Cantonese restaurants where they are curt and rushed. It would have been nice to have tea or water refills, however, but I won't discount my review on that because the food and nicer drinks at a small surcharge more than makes up for the experience. I am not sure if I would "wait" 2 hrs again, but I would go back if the line is shorter.

Yelp
Packed always for a reason. Cheap food but high quality Their Hainanese chicken was perfect cooked and loved how it wasn't salty or dry at all as sometimes restaurants do make it salty and dry. It Came with garlic, spicy sauce, and soy sauce with a side of flavourful bone soup. Their menu had a good variety of options to choose from and they had a few combos as well if you're looking for a deal! We also tried their salted egg yolk french toast, which was super bomb! Buttery and crispy. The restaurant itself was kind of tiny but servers work fast to clean and bring out food. You can join their waitlist on yelp ahead of time, but there was a waitlist even on a weekday afternoon. I saw all the aunties and uncles dining in, I knew this place is legit Parking is kind of tight but you will find it!
google avatar

Yelp
I got the Chicken on egg noodle (option for instant noodle instead) and it was simple but tasty. The soya sauce had a hint of sweetness. Chicken is tender. Noods have a nice texture, and a little thicker, but flat. Lai cha is okay. Can taste the tea flavour, but wouldn't go out of my way to come for their (hot) hk milk tea. Service and ambiance is standard for a hk cafe.

Yelp
A must try!!! The simple egg and toast with truffle is so amazing and has so much flavor! Also the French toast with molten egg is delicious. Service is very quick once you get seated and food comes out fast! Just be sure to add yourself to the waitlist beforehand because it can get very very busy!! The vibes are a small diner feel.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a great spot for cheap and satisfying HK cafe-style food. The only downside is that you need to wait for a long line to get a table. The satay beef noodle is perhaps the thing my family and I enjoy the most on their menu. A must try!
google avatar

Sally L.

Yelp
This is a great spot for hk cafe. Prices are very reasonable . They have a good twist on some traditional hk dishes. They have an all day breakfast menu . I usually get the satay beef with truffle egg toast. Service is decent. Staff is polite and efficient. Feels clean and spacious seating.
google avatar

Claudia J.

Yelp
Make a reservation before arriving, it will be packed!! Good thing is that the tables move fast and the staff is super quick to pick up, clean and serve people!! Hustle bustle, parties of 1 to 8 people.... ALL are welcome!!! Staff is super friendly!! All items are so fresh!! Must try: - Molten Salted Egg Yolk - Hainanese Chicken - Pineapple Bun with Omelette - Fish Balls & Squid
google avatar

Anna T.

Yelp
My bestie and I went for a quick dinner here and the service was so great! Iced HK milk tea was delicious. The hainanese chicken rice - DELISH! My satay beef instant noodles...a classic...simple but yummy! This place always has line ups so I'm glad we got in early. Definitely going back!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is always packed with people by 9am and I finally understand their hype. Their service is super fast already and they flip tables quickly too. But they still have a minimum 60 minute wait. They got some very unique dishes that are their twist of a traditional Hong Kong style breakfast. I got their Clay Pot Satay Beef Instant Noodle which is definitely a classic. I love how hot the soup once since it was served in a clay pot. The soup was rich and the noodles were cooked al dente. My husband got the baked pork chop fried rice which is a classic as well. The ketchup tomato sauce leaves such a nostalgic childhood memory and the pork chops were cooked so soft. 10/10 would recommend this. They also had some interesting dishes I want to try next time including their fried chicken avocado pineapple bun sandwich, which was stacked so tall. I also love a good Hainanese chicken and would want to try that next time. This diner really reminds me of the HK diners, with the fast pace workers and the packed tables. If you want a Hong Kong experience, you definitely have to come here!
google avatar

Michelle M.

Yelp
Had a late lunch so when we arrived around 3pm we got seated immediately. There is a Yelp waitlist so I would recommend adding yourself to the waitlist if you are going during busy hours. We ordered the signature hainanese chicken rice and molten salted egg yolk french toast. There was an order error but the staff was quick to correct it. The food and drinks came out quick and we enjoyed our dishes.

Yelp
Café De Hong Kong delivers exactly what you'd hope for in a Hong Kong-style café: a big menu, generous portions, and quick service in a casual, lively setting. It's the kind of place you go when you're craving comfort food, baked pork chop rice, sizzling steak with noodles, crispy chicken wings, and strong, silky milk tea that tastes just right. The prices are fair, and the food usually comes out fast and hot. It's also a great spot for families or groups, since the menu has something for everyone. That said, the restaurant does get busy, especially during peak meal times, and the noise level can be a little high. Service is efficient but sometimes rushed, so don't expect a lot of small talk, the goal is to keep things moving. A few dishes can feel slightly heavy on the sauce, depending on your taste, but overall the flavours are comforting and satisfying. Café De Hong Kong isn't about fine dining, it's about fast, filling, and familiar Hong Kong comfort food. If you don't mind a little noise and hustle, it's one of the better spots in Markham for an authentic cha chaan teng experience.

Yelp
Cafe de hong kong is one of my favorite hong kong cafes in the markham/richmond hill area! I'm sure many other people also share this opinion because there's practically always a ~60 minute waitlist for their lunchtime seatings. This waitlist can be joined & monitored online before your arrival. Their food selection consists of classic hong kong cafe dishes such as instant noodles, macaroni soups, and cheese rice bake dishes. But they also have some interesting sandwiches featuring classic pineapple buns, such as the one I have pictured. I would recommend this spot!

Yelp
If you are not in a rush, this place would be great. I think we joined the waitlist at 1pm and were seated at 3:15pm. If you know ahead of time and want to try the restaurant, it's definitely better to join as soon as possible. I really like the dish I ordered ( golden pork dish) as the pork itself tasted just as I imagined and ate in Hong kong. We also ordered the fried squid with fish balls, it reminded me of the cheung chay fish ball. Unfortunately, I have a peanut allergy and ordered the one without peanuts, but after a few bites, is still made me itchy but it goes away an after. The price itself is good and i love the hk theme decorations throughout the restaurant.

Yelp
The positives: Good service. Okay tasting food. The negatives: You need to register in your 'party' of people on this tablet on a pedestal in the tiny entranceway to wait for a table. There is no signage telling you to do so. A lot of older folks don't know how to do this, despite us being in the 21st Century. Also, the food and drinks aren't worth the prices they charge. I've been to other HK-style cafes where portions are bigger resulting in fair pricing. Don't think there will be a second time coming back.

Yelp
Food is good. Polite and nice service. Always a long waiting time. Please be there according to the time showing on Yelp.

Yelp
Small, popular place! We were visiting with a large group of 8. Based on reviews, we made sure to get there early so that we could get a table right away. We were there about 30 min before opening. The line probably starting actually growing about 15 min before opening. They have a wide menu of noodles, pineapple bun sandwiches, soups, and more. They have a series of set menus that are great value and you get to try more types of food. I got the beef satay combo that came with the noodles and egg truffle toast. I also ordered a Hong Kong style iced tea/coffee (you can do a combo). I also got to try some other foods from our group - a yummy sweet French toast and a pineapple bun with butter. The pineapple bun was so fresh and delicious!! One of my favs of the morning. I wish HK style cafes would come to Baltimore!!

Fion L.

Yelp
Overall food quality is good and service is good too! Many foods in the menu is very special and cannot find from other restaurants.

Yelp
Last year, we went to this HK style cafe near First Markham for a late lunch. We got the pineapple bun w/butter, hainanese chicken rice, black truffle scrambled egg on toast, satay beef rice noodle soup, curry fish balls, baked pork chop rice with tomato sauce, and crunchy toast dices w/peanut butter, condensed milk, pork floss, and ovaltine crunch. All the dishes were very delicious! My favorites were the hainanese chicken, pineapple bun, baked pork chop rice, and diced french toast.

Yelp
Above average food quality and reasonable priced. Fast and friendly service. Busy all the time, but worth the wait.

Yelp
My friend commented at this restaurant 4 stars , but I just did not taste the difference from other Hong Kong cafe place , and there are always people lining up, so I found out that u can line up on the website before u go there haha

Yelp
Great HK cafe! Huge variety of the usual cafe staples, but pretty generous portions with a good price point. The wait can be pretty long, but thankfully you can join the waitlist on Yelp remotely and linger nearby. They are pretty quick to move on to the next person if you don't come in time for your place in line, so be sure to be a few mins nearby! Service is quick and no frills, with tables as tight together as possible. All their items are delicious and great comfort food. Their IG staple fried chicken and avocado pineapple bun does live up to the hype. Downsides is the tiny amount of avocado on the bun (barely noticeable) and there is an odd after taste on the fried chicken, which I can't quite put my finger on. This is true for all their fried foods. Overall, still a great spot if you can get on line. Their breakfast specials are great, if you can get here in time!

Yelp
One of the better Hong Kong Cafes in the GTA. Food and drinks were quite delicious with all the classic HK cafe dishes like Hainanese Chicken rice, satay beef noodles & macaroni soup. Their pineapple bun was my favourite!! Expect a line on weekends & make sure to join the Yelp queue in advance to secure a table. Personally I loved the drinks the most like the Ding Ding milk tea. Interior is super cute with Hong Kong decor & some artwork.

Yelp
The unique thing about this HK cafe is they found a excellent balance between a slightly smaller portion. Great pricing and fantastic flavors with a slightly unique selection that you might not be able to find at other joints. Come earlier, be prepared to wait or get takeout. It's a busy spot!

Yelp
Cafe de hong kong by First Markham Place is a go to spot for weekend brunch. It's a laid back spot but I love their attention to detail- from their Hong Kong inspired decorations and intimate seating to their dishes. It's a small place so there's typically a wait if you don't reserve online! However, the waiters try to be accommodating despite the bustling environment. It's a great grab and go spot as their service is quick! Pictured are the fried chicken sandwiches which are extremely flavourful and satisfying with the sweet pineapple pastry bun and slightly spicy sauce. The baked pork chop rice is perfectly cheesy and the drinks are not too sweet! Finally, the price point is a plus! Cafe de Hong Kong is a staple in my book and I definitely recommend this spot as a casual brunch spot!!

Yelp
Cafe De Hong Kong has an authentic HK style cafe vibe. Busy, loud and full of energy! Great if you want something quick and not here to chit chat. I have been here a few times and the food is good and service efficient. Food wise, there are not too many healthy options: most items are deep fried and in rich sauces with cheese. Using the Yelp's wait list makes the experience so much better. Joining the virtual queue let me just wait in the car instead out in the cold!

Yelp
Great service, great food. I never had formal Hong Kong cuisine, but this certainly hit the spot. I got the pineapple bun, Hainan Chicken, and egg with b b q pork and shrimp over flavor rice. I also added hong kong milk tea and coffee/ tea. All 3 dishes were prepared perfectly. The service was Quick, as the waitress explained the menu very well. The food came quickly. We honestly had no complaints. The price point was great and averaged twelve to thirteen dollars per dish. It was busy even on a weekday, at 10:30 to 11:30 in the morning.

Yelp
They have different varieties of food and drink which I really like. It will be better if no ice in cold milk tea. And quite long line up. Overall it is good and I recommend.

Yelp
Finally got to try this and I loved it. Big portions, fast service food came out under 10 mins, loud family setting. Will definitely be back to try more.

Yelp
This place is really only friendly to Chinese-appearing people. Maybe not the place to go if you are different and expect to be treated the same way. Expect to be ignored and not given the same service. While the breakfast food is fairly good, it is not quite the same as Hong Kong itself from my experience. Nothing was bad, but it nothing was special either. My husband (from HK) and I will not be back.

Yelp
Customer service for sure was above and beyond. And yet the food was even better. They meet expectations and the 1+ hour wait is justified (if you have the time)

Yelp
Reasonable price with good quality but can adjust the seasonings to make them more healthy

Yelp
Do not come here unless you want to be scammed. I joined the waiting list around an hour ago. I saw that I was number 3 so I thought I would wait inside. A lady approached me and asked if I had given her my name. I told her that I am on the waiting list and that I am number 3. She brings out a separate sheet of paper and tells me that there's 7 tables in front of me. If I am number 3, how do I have 7 tables in front of me? After asking some other people that were waiting as well, they told me that they were prioritizing walk-ins. If they only want to do walk-ins then don't have this waiting list as an option. I am very disappointed in their customer service and will not come back, I rather give my support to other small businesses. This is not how you do business!

Yelp
Items ordered: 1) Salted egg yolk HK french toast 2) Hainanese chicken 3) Fried chicken and avocado pineapple bun 4) Complimentary: HK milk tea, Ovaltine drink Food: - Hainanese chicken was lacking flavour - Highly recommend the fried chicken pineapple bun! - Big portions - Comes with a free hot beverage. I liked the Ovaltine! Service: - Uses an online ticket system but it was a 2 hour wait list. We timed our arrival so only waited less than 5 min at the restaurant - Fast and efficient service to be seated, ordering, food arrival, bill Would I return? Yes!

Yelp
We decided to come after driving by and seeing a line outside a couple of times. We waited until it was "less busy" as per Google before coming. They have an iPad at the front door for joint the wait list if you come here and there is a line. The food was spectacular! I especially liked the baked pork chop rice with cheese. The cheese was extra stretchy and gooey. The sauce is on the sweeter side which I also enjoyed. The pork chop is also cut into strips, making it easier to eat. The molten salted egg yolk French toast is very sweet and reminded me of donut. The molten egg yolk immediately spilled out when I cut into it. It was a good bread to egg yolk ratio--just enough for dipping! The all day breakfast set B also comes a similar dish to the molten salted egg yolk French toast. Of course, this version is less oily. If you wanted to try the flavours but do not want to commit to getting an entire French toast, set B could be a feasible option! The food comes with drinks. The Hong Kong milk tea is very thick and creamy--a little on the bitter side even with sugar. I don't recommend the lemon tea though. It tasted like dish water in my opinion. Overall, the food and the prices are unbeatable! The waiters are very observant and helpful. Casual atmosphere suitable for a quick meal.
