My family and I found this place on a whim this week. It was a casual vibe for dinner and what we were looking for. We really enjoyed the food, ordering salads and French onion soup. I thought the salad was fresh and my salad came with toast that had goat cheese and honey. I didn’t think the price was too bad but to be fair, we are from New York City so eating out might be similar price wise. Our waiter was…a little abrupt. I hesitate on saying he was rude because it was the end of the night and he did seem to chill out a little when there was less people so I’m giving him benefit of the doubt. He did bring out our food right away. I noticed he took our order without writing it down while holding a bunch of dishes he was trying to clean up, then forgot one of the salads we ordered. He was kind of annoyed when we asked for the salad again but whatever we got the extra salad pretty quickly after that. Despite the service, which was not a dealbreaker for us, we were satisfied with the food and the meal/atmosphere was what we wanted anyways.

Best og Cafè Paris. Only one maintaining the original parisian neighbourhood Cafè style, while the rest of the area tailors to tourism. Amazing view on the st sulpice church, great wine choice. Don’t confuse the waiters’s authentic french hospitality style with rudeness, not everyone is from california.

Watch out for your change! I had not been to the Café de la Mairie for years, mostly because staff was so unpleasant, even more than the (arguably high mark of) Paris average. This morning I tried the place again. Unpleasantness is still queen. But one big innovation: my waiter tried to give me change on a €10 note whereas I had given him €20, and the banknote was on his tray he could not miss it. He gave me the missing ten but did not even apologise.

We visited on a rainy day, ordered French Onion soup (it was ok, about the same as I get in a mediocre restaurant in the US), salad (a bit worse than a normal Chef Salad in the US), and Croque Monsieur (borning and not real flavorful). The service was OK and the prices were high (12 euro for the soup).

Attentive and polite service and a good place to have a drink. I went to enjoy a glass of Sancerre and the view of the chruch across the street. As the service was quick, place wasn't very busy and Sancerre was uplifting and tasty, I decided to also order lunch. I took Caesar salad, tomatoes were crisp and dressing was good, but the chicken, oh my was that dry. Not sure I have ever had such a dry chicken 😀 sure, a chef can have a bad day or something, but such meat shouldn't be sent out of the kitchen.. If the Caesar would've been without the chicken breast, would give 5 stars, but with this kind of meat being sent out of the kitchen, I have to stick to 3 at this time. Would still visit for drinks and snacks.

Don’t eat here! The worst cafe in Paris. The food was not just bad, it was disgusted!

The best thing here is the view. In the center of St Germain this cafe had the the best views. Onion soup was bland with no taste. The wine was good but who could ruin a Cote du Rhône? Even the slow service didn’t bother me since I had a nice table, great people watching and good wine

This place will scam you if you’re not careful. I came here with my sister and we each ordered soup and a drink. I paid for our meal and we left. It wasn’t until later that I realized they never gave me my card back (my mistake), but they ran my card multiple times (I had to file a dispute with my bank) and they told me they didn’t have my card when I went back. I later had attempted charges on my card that luckily were blocked by my bank. Sketchy place!

Yelp
Beautiful little cafe on the left bank in St Germain du pris neighborhood. Sit outside or on the patio for the best views with great people watching. As for the food and service...that leaves a lot to be desired. Took 20 minutes for a glass of wine. My husband ordered the Onion Soup. 12 euros and it was not only expensive, small, but it was bland and no taste. A glass of wine, or a coffee, and the view... that's the only thing here.

Yelp
A normal tourist cafe in a spectacular location. Right at the Place de Saint Sulpice looking at Saint Sulpice One of the most picturesque churches in Paris. The church contains the organ Widor played all his life. His organ symphonies were composed for THAT organ. If there is either a church service or an organ concert at Saint Sulpice - Just go. Period. As for the cafe, Don't plan to have a major meal here. But for sitting, having a coffee or a glass of wine and looking at the view, It is hard to beat. The neighborhood is filled with Latin Quarter artists, intellectuals and fakers looking like artists and intellectuals. The balance of tourists and French in their arty clothes is 40-60. So there is a lot to see if you just want to people watch. If you want to look less like a tourist, and more like an artist or an intellectual, a) Wear a scarf (foulard). Looking at everyone around you will show you how to wear it. b) Read a book in French. or at least look like you are reading a book in French. There are a zillion bookstores around from which you can get something with an impressive title and cover graphic. Holding the book upside down or Reading "The 100 Best Restaurants in Paris" Will blow the plan. Buying books "The 100 Best Restaurants in Paris" can be a great deal ... Since the books in French take you to less touristy places than the books in English. You don't have to understand all the words. Just look at the name, the address, the pictures and how many $$$$ are at the top. But read that one in the privacy of your hotel room as if it were a guide to overcoming erectile dysfunction. At the Cafe de la Mairie, better to be reading "Surmonter La Crise Ecologique: Vers un Critique du Productivisme" or "Incendie Sur Six Continents: L'Evolution de Hip-Hop Mondial". A good scarf and a glass of red wine and you are in business.

Yelp
Great location in the vibrant Saint Germain de près neighbourhood of Paris. Service was good. Prices were reasonable. But the food was so mediocre. I should have known. The place was packed but most of the patrons were there to drink. I had the bland onion soup and an underwhelming Provençal style ham and cheese open-faced sandwich with a fried egg on top. It also came with a side salad. The onion soup was not even done correctly. Cheese was not melted on top. I had dessert at the Christmas market nearby because I was afraid the sweets would also be a letdown.

Yelp
IN a perfect world I'd have coffee or a glass of wine here at least once a week, year round. A small cafe across the street from the grand St. Sulpiece Church, one of the grand churches of Paris. To be fair, there are dozens of cafes like this in every direction in the city. But this one, this space, this location, the fountain, the church, facing West, it's my place. I have a 17 yr. relationship with it and although I have only been to Paris four times--but for extended stays-- a stop here is always a memory I cherish. This in part is what Paris is about, time in a small cafe either alone or with friends or family simply relaxing in a grand space. Can't wait to return. By the way, the service, pricing, and everything about the place is first-rate.

Yelp
A good friend living in Paris took me to Café de la Mairie years ago and I still enjoy going back. Not that the food is amazing, but the food is very very good (I love tucking into an oozing, cheesy croque) and the people watching is superb looking out over the St. Sulpice square...also while this is a tourist area, Café de la Mairie does not feel touristy.

Yelp
Fun little place and a great place to people watch. It's an old school place stud in a pricey area. This will get you a typical bistro feel and a good place to people watch and drink a Kir. I have spotted: politicians, actors, models, etc jumping in and out of their cars from one spot; such as, one time: David Hasselhoff and 5-minutes later prime minister Villepin... then you can cross the street and do the Da Vinci code thing if you still into that. The church doesn't even have the sign anymore, last I checked about the spot referenced in the book...

Yelp
Had decided on this place due to location to our hotel and its location on the Place St. Sulpice. We ordered a Croque Madam, Hot dogs, and 3 other plates I can't or don't care to remember. It's a great location, but other then that I can't think of any other reason to go there

Yelp
My first visit to Café de la mairie was my first visit to Paris (with my parents) in 2000. As a grade school kid, my palate remained as unsophisticated as most chicken finger & French fry loving kid, despite the waiters at this Café making me feel so cool and oh so chic. We came almost everyday for breakfast then, for a 2 week long holiday. It was comforting to rely on a robust breakfast of eggs, tomatoes, croissants and a café crème. This was before the Euro, and if I recall, price in French Francs was good for Paris and Saint Germain de Pres. Return in mid-2016, and the venue is just as I fondly remember. The café crème puts my daily Starbucks to shame and that same breakfast is just as robust, flavorful, filling and enjoyable to my more sophisticated palate, just like it was as a kid in 2000. I can only dream that Chicago would have a Café de la mairie.

Yelp
Well, I went as I said I would. The scaffolding has disappeared around L'Eglise Saint-Sulpice, so now you can ogle this magnificent structure while sipping an espresso on the trottoir of La Cafe de La Mairie du Sixieme (it was dear Djuna who immortalized it with that number-prefix, indicating the arrondissement that it's in, bien sur). It's the only place where you can do that, in fact, since it's the only cafe in Place Saint-Sulpice. The espresso was quite drinkable and the waiters weren't grouchy. I'm definitely going back.

Yelp
The view WILL be spectacular when they take the scaffolding and wrapping down from the stunning St Sulpice. This cafe is all about location. Right smack dab in the midst of the Place St. Sulpice, 5 minutes from Luxemborg gardens and in the middle of some of the best shopping and and people watching. The waiters are not especially pleasant and the coffee, not especially good. It's fine. But like I said, location, location, location. Oh, I've never eaten there. Most likely won't.

Yelp
When I come to Paris, I love coming to little cafes like this for either a coffee for a glass of wine. Compared to some of the really gimicky places, I liked that this place was no frills, reasonably priced drinks and of course had a lovely view of the square. So grab a table by the window for a nice chilled out afternoon.

Yelp
Food: Ducked in here to get out of a quick spring rain storm. Ordered cafe at the bar. Was good and reasonably priced. No frills. Good view of the square.

Yelp
Nice cafe near the Saint Sulpice church. Typical Paris cafe atmoshphere however, my children said they had the best sorbet they ever ate....Waiter, Bruno was very nice and he spoke some English as well - Beer selection was great, they have it in all sizes - huge by American standards and smaller....

Yelp
The best, old-school cafe for lazy Sunday people-watching on the Place Saint Sulpice in the heart of Saint Germain. Good basic bar food. Order the croque monsieur, but pay the extra euro for Poilane bread. They say that Catherine Deneuve stops here. Sadly, I've never run into her

Yelp
do not enjoy shopping (except the likes of leroy merlin or monoprix). so while my tourists are zig-zagging the streets & shops in Saint-Germain, find me here. mainly on the terrace, with a double expresso and too-sweet coffee eclair from Pierre Hermé nearby.
