Discovered a true hidden gem in Marpole! It is not my first time at Cafe de L'Orangerie but is an absolute must-try if you haven't. This Japanese fusion cafe blew us away with their incredible Japanese-inspired pastas, curries, desserts, and coffees. It's a cozy spot, but packed with deliciousness, happy people, and wonderful staff. This visit, we devoured the Salmon Teriyaki, Hayashi (Orangerie style beef stew) with Chicken Cutlet, Pesto Spaghetti, and Creamy Tomato Spaghetti. And the Shanghai Fog (jasmine tea with white chocolate sauce and milk) was pure bliss! Highly recommend!

Google
It’s a Japanese-Italian fusion restaurant, which sounded quite interesting. I ordered the pork cutlet curry rice, but was a bit disappointed — the cutlet was dry, and the rice itself was overly soft and mushy, which really took away from the overall dish. The spaghetti was unfortunately quite average as well. As for the chicken nanban, it felt more like a pan-fried chicken steak and was far too oily for my taste.

I’ve been to this Japanese pasta restaurant a few times with my kids because the food is good, and we usually enjoy it. But today’s experience was just unacceptable. When we arrived, it was cold and raining outside. A staff member was checking for available seats, but then another lady told us to go back outside to write down our name. Since it was raining, I asked my daughter to stay inside while I stepped out. Shockingly, an older lady *physically pushed* my daughter out and said, “Please wait outside because people are walking out.” Excuse me? You do *not* put your hands on my child. A simple request would’ve been enough—there was absolutely no need for physical contact. I was furious but didn’t want to cause a scene because my daughter really wanted that pasta. I told her she has every right to speak up and let people know they shouldn’t touch her without permission. We got seated after 5 minutes, and unfortunately, that same lady was our server. My daughter and I ordered just one pasta and an appetizer since the portions are big. I could tell she wasn’t pleased with our small order—no smile, no thank you, just took the menu and walked away. Throughout the entire meal, no one came to check on us, not even once. Honestly, no matter how good the food is, the service today was awful and ruined the whole experience. I left no tip because it was well-deserved. We won’t be coming back anytime soon.

3/5 Their sauce( curry and beef) here is very nice, can eat few bowls of rice with them. Deep fried pork chop was crispy but could be more tender or moist. First time tako karage and loved it. Chicken is a different batter, have to enjoy faster as it get soft quick.

Cafe de l'Orangerie is a tiny and busy Italian/Japanese fusion place that we last visited in 2016. Had a London Fog ($6.5) and ginger ale while we were waiting. Seats are a bit cramped. The Hayashi Special ($20) comes with a hamburger steak and 2 pieces of deep fried prawns with a savory hayashi sauce. The Hamburger Doria ($18) with added Curry Sauce ($4.25) is a very saucy dish. Both of these dishes are quite filling. The Homemade Croquette ($10.5) had rice inside with a crisp coating. I think I liked the hayashi sauce better than curry sauce.

Google
Good food, it's a fusion of Japanese food. most of their foods are tasty, Clam Chowder is different than regular clam chowder soup. Live their Chicken Nanbam. Masago pasta is also so tastefully yummy, Hamburger doria is another different level, you got to try it. the downside is the atmosphere, so cramps and crowded. service okay,

Google
im surprised that theres a restaurant in vancouver that actually SEASONS THEIR MEAT GOSH FINALLY THE BARE MINIMUM 😭 but i would say the flavor of onions in the hamburg steak was too overpowering and u couldn't taste the meat and it also wasn't juicy enough. the white sauce was gentle and warm and rly goes well w their cheese but tbh didnt pair well witj the hamburg steak- the sauce from the fries paired better w the steak cuz it kinda tasted like demiglace sauce, or a stew but they forgot to put wine in it. hayashi poutine 3/5 doria hamburg 4/5

Google
their Hayashi source was really good better than most I had in Tokyo. portion was more than decent, if I really picky I suggest use lighter batter like tempura but cost (time)more. I had 2 dessert both were exceptionally.. the chocolate lava ..and something with custards /fruits and cream.

Yelp
If we're ever in the area, Cafe de I'Orangerie is our go-to place because their dishes never disappoint. We always get their Masago de Creamy Spaghetti dish because of how delicious, rich, and smooth the sauce and dish is. It's a fairly small place, so there's usually line ups. Service is fast and friendly, and it has a nice ambience to the space with a Japanese-style feel.

Yelp
Must confirm what a great place this is. We've been back multiple times. This time: - hayashi special is the bomb. Great hayashi stew and you get two pawns with the usual great hamburger steak. - everyone loved the carbonara. Great sauce. - masago has a great cream sauce. They also have great desserts and cheesecake. Didn't have any this time. This is definitely a place to come back to.

Yelp
It's a small, cozy, and quaint restaurant/cafe tucked away in a neighborhood strip mall. It gets pretty busy here very fast, but the staff try their best. Food is very homestyle Japanese-Italian food. It's nothing super crazy, we had two of their pastas and my sisters definitely loved it since it's hard to get these flavors where we live. I loved the desserts tho and I felt like the desserts were the best about this place. Their grapefruit cheesecake was very refreshing and their matcha pudding had a lot of matcha flavor which was balanced out by the sweet azuki beans. The Shanghai fog was jasmine tea with white chocolate sauce but we didn't taste too much white chocolate. Their fried octopus was great, and their croquettes were a nice experience but since it was our first time having rice in the croquettes, it was definitely different from the korokke we're used to which are mostly potato-based. If we're ever back in Vancouver, I would definitely love to try their doria dishes and more of their desserts!

Yelp
Rice and noodles and a curry I've wanted to try this place out, it's a modern Italian Japanese fushion restaurant which is very family friendly cafe spot. We did try their homemade croquettes 2 pieces for $6. It was a small croquette for $3 it was tempting to get because they say it's homemade, it was quite soft and putting the croquette sauce made it better. I got a pasta with carbonara sauce it had a little bit of meat and some mushrooms. I liked how soft the noodles were and the sauce it was nice and hot plate of pasta and very Asian style indeed. Then we got curry rice with pork cutlet. The meat is super tender and the curry makes up for it nice to eat with the rice and meat. Overall, it had a homey feel to the meal and very nice atmosphere where staff is friendly and people come here with their kids because I'd think kids would enjoy the homemade feel of the these dishes.

Yelp
We finally decided to come here for dine in and E got the chicken nanban set while I got the pork katsu curry. I was a big fan of the pork katsu curry and thought the pork katsu was fried perfectly and there was lots of curry to add flavour to both the rice and and katsu. R thought that the nanban wasn't that great - a bit dry and have had better at other places. We also saw other tables having the pasta and it looked absolutely delicious. Very interested to come back and give their pastas a go!

Yelp
The baked rice dish was great when paired with the Hiyashi sauce. A great spot with great service and servers that make you feel welcom

Yelp
Though have been to Cafe de l'Orangerie a number of times over the years, it doesn't always pop up in my mind because it's literally tucked away in a corner underneath the Granville Street Bridge. However, my friends and I were at Marine Gateway to watch a movie and was hungry for dinner afterwards. A friend suggested Cafe de l'Orangerie and off we went! There's free parking at the small plaza and street parking nearby, which is a plus. We were seated right away and during Covid, they opened and are still operating a separate small take out window that is right by the main entrance. I ordered the Masago spaghetti and it was a good sized portion for $14.50. Flavourful and creamy without being too heavy and overwhelming. There are some mushrooms and small cut up octopus pieces within the dish but if you love your protein, would recommend that you order the dish the restaurant's known for hamburger steak. The Cafe is also known for desserts but I couldn't finish the pasta so didn't order any. One of my friends ordered the Grapefruit cheesecake - a nice portion with creamy silky cream cheese and fresh Grapefruit on top. I tried a bite and it was really refreshing and not a heavy dessert. Makes a perfect summer dessert! Recommend Cafe L'Orangerie if you're around the area for some tasty fusion Japanese dishes and desserts.

Yelp
Haven't been here for a while and they are still pretty busy I had the Mentaiko spaghetti and added the Hamburg patty. There were seafood pieces and a light creamy sauce I am not a fan of the Hamburg spices but the patty was pretty tender I actually enjoyed the dessert more, especially the matcha cheese tart The tart shell was buttery and the matcha cream was very smooth Prices were pretty fair

Yelp
We came on a weekday and the restaurant was already mostly full when we got there at around 12pm. We got the chicken karage, poutine with hayashi sauce, Masago de creamy pasta, wafu spaghetti and grapefruit cheesecake. Ive been here quite a few times and their quality is always consistent. The flavours and everything have not changed over the years. They have the ultimate Japanese fusion comfort food. It was actually the first time I ordered the chicken karage and unfortunately it was disappointing. It's not your usual chicken karage. The breading is very light and doesn't feel like it was fried at all. Unfortunately I like a heavier chicken karage. Needed to be a bite crispier The poutine with Hayashi sauce is my go to must order everytime. No visit is complete without this. It seems like their portion for the poutine has gotten ever so slightly smaller. The chips are still very crispy and the sauce still meaty and heart but just felt a bit smaller than usual. The Masago de creamy pasta is also another must order. Strangely enough it seems like their portions for the pastas have gotten bigger. Way more noodles than before. The Masago creamy pasta is very savoury and addicting. The Masago gives it that umami flavour. It leaves you wanting more. It's not overly creamy or heavy. The pasta is always cooked to perfection everytime. It was our first time trying the wafu pasta and I gotta say the Masago pasta is still more delicious. The wafu just didn't have that wow factor for me. I thought the bonito would give it that same umaminess I got from the Masago but it didn't. I wouldn't order this again. For dessert we finished off with the grapefruit cheesecake. We like most of their desserts as they are not overly sweet and they have a wide range of desserts. The grapefruit was refreshing. There was a jello later in it which gave it a nice contrast with the cream cheese layers. Not overly sweet. Would get again Overall one of my favourite places to go for a relaxed meal with guaranteed good time. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Food is delicious and hearty plus they have a huge dessert menu.

Yelp
Heard good things about this Japanese restaurant, so we finally came to check it out. It is located in a small strip mall along W 73rd Ave, with a limited number of parking spots. We ordered the Japanese curry with pork cutlet and the chicken nanban set. The curry & cutlet were pretty tasty, but the chicken nanban set was disappointing, with chicken that was on the soggy side (not at all crispy). Prices were decent, but we'll probably not be returning again.

Yelp
Café de L'Orangerie is a small, charming restaurant known for their Japanese-Italian fusion dishes * Spicy Tuna Sashimi (8) * Masago de Creamy Spaghetti with Hamburger Steak (16.5) * Curry with Hamburger Steak (14) * Cassis Orange Cocktail (4) One of their most popular items is the Masago Spaghetti which features capelin roe, squid, mushroom, asparagus, and shredded seaweed. It is so creamy, rich, and delicious paired with their signature hamburger steak The curry on the other hand was flavourful and filling with the soft bed of rice. The slight sweetness from the hamburger patty made for the perfect contrast! Between the curry and hayashi rice, I actually prefer the latter (sorry it's not pictured!) I've read some takeout reviews mentioning that their pastas and curries were watery, but I didn't encounter any of these issues from my numerous dine-in experiences Overall this is a great place to enjoy some fusion pastas!

Yelp
An italian japanese fusion spot with pasta and fusion desserts to choose from. The location of this cafe is tucked away in the Marpole area so you wouldn't know its there if you didn't go looking. Luckily there is ample parking so that's not an issue. I love their hayashi special because their stew is so flavourful on a chilly Vancouver night. It also comes with a decent portion size and lots of meat which I enjoy. For a more adventurous choice, we tried their masago spsagetti which was surprisingly tasty without being too rich in flavour. Highly recommend you check it out!

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a Wednesday. Had hayshi hamburger rice and iced green tea latte. Hamburger rice is flavorful and savory. Good portion size. Iced Macha green tea latte is creamy. Small parking lot and street parking. Takes credit card.

Yelp
Small place that's pretty easy to miss. Limited seating but didn't have to wait when we came. Not the most comfortable seating but decent. We ordered the pasta carbonara with burger patty on top and the poutine. We did have one person in our party with allergies to nuts. We asked if they were able to tell us what dishes may have nuts in them. They were very aggressive and not willing to answer us. Rather, kept stating "we take no responsibility if you have a reaction". They were not very accommodating for a pretty common allergy. Food was decent.

Yelp
All the food came hot off the stove! Masago de Creamy Spaghetti noodles were al dente with a creamy red sauce that had strong umami flavors. The seafood in it was tasty, but a bit over cooked. The meatball on top was cooked well, again strong umami flavors. Croquettes reminded me of arancinis. Great crunch on the outside, Al dente rice in the middle. Lacked flavor. It needed a dipping sauce. Service - was good. They were quick to seat me and checked up on me will I was waiting for food. Ambiance - very casual, family owned small business vibe.

Yelp
Once we were seated at our table today, my 5yo child placed her water bottle on the table. The server questioned whether it is water. We said yes. She said "Please put it away, the owner doesn't like it." We put it away as requested. We went on with our meal, and though my child finished the small cup of water provided by the restaurant, the server did not come to fill it. We asked the server for water but no one came back to fill the water. I'm not quite sure what the issue is with a child's water bottle on the table. All other adults had their cups refilled, but for whatever the reason, the kids cups were not deserving of water. The table next to us had a child with her water bottle on the table and the servers had no issue with that. Then as we were finishing our meal, right as I finished my last bite and put my fork down, the server brought over the bill. It had only been 45min since we sat down at the table. It's not like we were taking our sweet time and holding up their table. The food is decent, but the service was so off-putting that I now have a hard time returning. I know it is a busy restaurant, but treat your customers with courtesy and respect if you don't want to lose the business.

Yelp
Well I always drive by this place because it's in our old neighbourhood. Saw some stupid social media post about the pasta and the croquette and yeah f---- you TikTok and that girl who created a mirage. This place absolutely sucks. We ordered hayashi rice and creamy pasta with hamburger steak and a 3 piece order of croquette as well sides of rice (which we got charged for) but didn't receive. It smelled good in the car but when I opened the big brown bag that they ensured everything is extra charge, it was smaller than expected. We got catfished from the menu pictures, now I know how that feels, smh lol The creamy spaghetti was unfortunately mutated into the hayashi so ended up hayashi pasta and no rice. I guess cause they added all the rice we ordered in their croquette? The croquette was more like arancini and not really any potato like other Japanese and Korean places make? The hamburger steak patty was nasty. Color taste texture, but thanks for giving my dog Bella some rock you to play with. For $50+ tip for something I could I've made at home, waste of money. When I called about the rice it was it should've been there but we're busy. That was it. No hey here's a refund or sorry? The attitude of the staff and owner is a little too steep. Get off your high chairs and actually acknowledge that the customer is right most of the time and to actually be sympathetic to others instead of making a mistake and blaming it on the customers! If you want I suggest go to Hi Genki for OG Japanese croquettes and we'll priced authentic food and service with a smile or if your broke or on a budget, go Safeway and buy Liptons sidekicks. You'll thank me later...

Yelp
came in for a late dinner on a weeknight with a party of 5 and we were seated right away. the restaurant had a cozy vibe and is small inside so i can see it possible being busier on weekends. food: carbonara pasta with hamburger steak ($18.50) - carbonara is one of my favorite pasta dishes but i didn't really like it here. the sauce was too eggy and dry as opposed to being more creamy and cheesy. the hamburger steak was sweet which i didn't really like although i recognize that these are all personal preferences. my fiancée got the same dish and she said he liked it. and they gave a very generous portion! poutine with hayashi sauce ($17 for large size) - this was soo good, the hayashi sauce was very flavorful and the fries were super crispy. i would come back for this. as a japanese fusion restaurant, they have a lot of interesting items on the menu so despite being disappointing by the carbons i would be open to coming back and trying something else. i give it 3.5/5 stars

Yelp
This restaurant does a good job at fusing Japanese and Italian cuisine. The beef stew with katsu was delicious! The stew was savory, had great depth of flavor, and paired well with the rice and katsu! It was gone within a matter of minutes. The napolitan spaghetti is good to order if you like your pasta sauces on the sweeter side. The portions here are also pretty large. The servers were all very friendly as well.

Yelp
I live close by so I have had many opportunities to try. I would say that this Italian Japanese fusion style is very specific - for those who are craving that particular flavor, this is a good choice. It has a busy, bustling, diner, vibe. This would be a great place to bring someone who has never tried this particular type of fusion food before.

Yelp
Very cool little Japanese style bistro located in Marpole. It was buzzing with locals and service was good. Ordered the sweet potato cheesecake because who doesn't love cheesecake?! Very moist and had a light texture and the crust was very chewy--delicious. The cafe is small, leave much to be desired with the aesthetic. You won't find ambiance here but the food seems to be what people came for, not the atmosphere. Was in the area but other than that probably wouldn't return based on locale. But the sweet potato cheesecake is lovely!

Yelp
This is a very nice Japanese Italian fusion! The staff and inside is really like a mom and pop Japanese place! The food is fantastic! Lots of food and lots of options!! I love my carbonara as it was very tasty and gave me the food coma right away!! Def recommend for family

Yelp
Our second time back to Vancouver and knowing that we will be landing late, found this Japanese Italian fusion place by our hotel that closes at 9:30 and ordered Uber delivery. I'm glad we did as there are just a scant of places open at that time and somewhat decent. Based off Yelp reviews, decide to give it a try. We ordered octopus karagee which given how it sat for awhile up until we got our order, it was no longer crunchy. We also got a pork cutlet curry which came with a small salad, The pork cutlet was beautifully fried and the curry sauce was really good. My son got the wafu spaghetti with hamburger steak. Presentation wise just looked meh but wow the soy sauce based spaghetti was cooked al dente, came with cabbage, mushroom, bonito flakes, and bacon bites with a round large hamburger meatball on top. The flavor and combo all worked perfectly. Very good place and we had only hoped we ate in as the dessert options looked plentiful.

Yelp
Really wanted to check out this place since I've heard such good things about it but I was a bit disappointed. Although the pasta was well priced and the portions were large, the flavour was just okay for me. For some reason the sauce was SUPER watery and didn't have that much flavour. Also the hamburger steak was a pretty nice size but the taste was just okay, I probably wouldn't get it again.

Yelp
Creamy tomato spaghetti w/ hamburger steak $16.50: It wasn't super creamy but the tomato sauce was spot on w/o being too tangy! Aside from the cheese & mushrooms, some chicken bites were included too which were very tender! Wafu spaghetti $12.50 This one is so unique so I had to try! It sure is a Japanese style pasta since it's loaded w/ bonito flakes, bacon, and seaweed adding more of a smokey & savoury taste. The soy sauce was also pretty subtle, if you get this one I suggest mixing it really well! The hamburger steak can be added to any pasta for +$4, an extra source of protein for the gains! It's fairly huge & it's not dry, although it could use some more seasoning. Overall it still paired nicely w/ both of the fresh, al-dente cooked pastas but I would get an egg as an add on next time! I love how the food gave me some good homemade vibes, I recommend sharing if you go cause the portions are big & you can try more flavors!! I went on a Friday night at 7pm, and waited around 10 minutes. Even though it was pretty busy, the service was still up to standard w/ regular check ins and water refills! It's fairly small so seating is tight, but the employees still managed to keep it clean.

Yelp
Lunch @ Cafe de l'Orangerie This restaurant is in the middle of the residential area. There are few parking spots in front of the store. We have ordered... Masago with Hamburger Pasta Mixed of asparagus, mushroom, squids , masago on al dente spaghetti with hamburger patty Special Hayashi Rice Comes with salad, hamburger patty and deep fried ebi shrimps. The hamburger patties are juicy, tender and moist, seasoned with onions. It goes well with the dish sauces. London Fog Sweetened Meraki Earl Grey Tea with foamed milk. Yelp
The pasta flavours here are quite delicious. I had the neopolitan spaghetti one with ketchup based sauce and really liked the tangy edge to it. Very satisfying. Also tried the carbonara one which was very creamy. Mango roll cake was fresh too. Great Japanese fusion Italian pasta meal. Service is basic though and a bit curt.

Yelp
Overall, everything was quite mediocre, I'm not sure what the hype is about as I've seen amazing reviews on Google, Yelp, and Instagram. It's a small cozy Japanese x French fusion restaurant, in a small plaza. My order: Masago de Creamy Spaghetti w/ Hambuger Steak $16.50: this was hands down the most popular order based on the reviews I've seen, but it fell short of my expectations in terms of flavour. It's creamy without being too thick or heavy, and the noodle texture was al dente though. There are small bits of seafood and mushrooms mixed in. The dish itself just tasted a little flat in my opinion, and just didn't have any specific flavours associated with it other than being lightly creamy. The hamburger steak I added to the spaghetti was underwhelming. It's a pretty thick patty, but flavour-wise there's also nothing special. The 3 mini prawns were also not worth it ($6.40 for 3 very small prawns), and kind of oily.

Yelp
Love eating at this place when I'm feeling for Asian fusion food. They're a Japanese fusion restaurant that sells Japanese-inspired spaghetti, curry, and other dishes. We got the pork cutlet curry and the masago spaghetti, and both tasted amazing! The curry was flavourful and the pork cutlet was well cooked. The skin was crunchy but not dry on the inside. The sauce went well with the spaghetti. They had a lot of squid pieces that were cooked al dante. The portions here are pretty big so we were able to pack about 1/3 of it to go. The prices are reasonable as well - mostly less than $15 for a large entree dish. I'd definitely recommend coming here if you're in the Marpole area!

Yelp
Came here for dessert after a sumptuous japanese dinner. Been here previously for lunch and enjoyed their pasta and cutlet entrees. Was very impressed so we had high expectations for dessert as it is a japanese inspired restaurant. Unfortunately, this time, the goods were not delivered! Ordered the choco cheese tart and the blueberry cheese tart. Both did pies did have the proper cheese tart taste. Yu could not taste the cream cheese anywhere. Both tasted like a mousse tart. Nowhere is the japanese Influence tasted and showing. Also, both tasted like its been in the cooler some time now. The choco tasted like its been made from milo powder and the bluberry from the canned variety and diluted badly. Service was great however. They answered our questions and never rushed us. I saw their pear pie ala mode..shouldve went for that as i saw fresh pears in the fridge. Good sign, at least you are sure that they use real fresh pears. Cheers! happy eating!

Yelp
Unfortunately this place did not live up to its high reviews. We started with the octopus karaage which was tough and had a funky taste/smell to it. For our mains we had the creamy masago pasta and the spaghetti with hamburger steak. The sauce for the masago pasta was really watery and the taste was mild. It wasnt bad but just not really that good. The hayashi spaghetti was also mild in flavour and was not an outstanding dish overall. Portion size for everything was good but it's just the flavours that are severely lacking.

Yelp
My two favorite cuisines are Japanese and Italian so what better place to eat at than at Cafe de l'Orangerie! The two fusion worked out better than I would have thought as the Hayashi with pork cutlet was my absolute favorite. The cutlet was rich in flavor and had that crisp I look forward to every time. The beef stew was paired perfectly and was not overwhelming for my tastebuds one bit. The spaghetti was a little sweeter than I would have liked but nonetheless the hamburger steak was the right consistency not being too hard nor chewy. The environment felt very intimate as the tables were close by each other in such a small space. Our waiter was always quick to refill our drinks and greeted us with a smile.

Yelp
Cafe de l'Orangerie is a cozy Japanese restaurant located in between Richmond and Vancouver. I have been here handful of times and have tried various pasta and rice dishes. The one dish that always makes me come back is the Hayashi Rice - the meat sauce is perfectly cooked and matches very well with the hamburger steak. The other honourable mention is the Chicken Nanban, chicken thigh meat coated in a sweet batter with tartare sauce on the side.

Yelp
COVID-19 TAKEOUT REVIEW: During this period, we're extra cautious of where to get take out and how careful the food is handled. When I came to pickup my food, I was happy to see all the staff and cooks wearing a mask, a CC machine that accepts tap (less touching the better), and food was ready so it was a quick pickup. They also offer 20% for take out right now. Their phone line was busy when I called to order so I wasn't sure they were still opened but I tried again 5min later and it went through. So don't worry if your call gives you a "not able to connect" message. We had the Masago Spaghetti because it's seriously their best pasta. Added a Hamburg patty for extra meat. Flavors were on point. Also had a side of crispy Chicken Karrage that came with a mayo dip. Everything went well together. Delicious meal. They also have great desserts. Our favorites are the Grapefruit Cheesecake, the Matcha Cheese Tart or the Chocolate Cheese Tart. These are also available for take out.

I came here with a friend on a Sunday Night. The food was pretty good. I ordered the Curry with Pork Cutlet ($14) and my friend got the Doria with Hamburger Steak. My curry sauce had a lot of flavours and was well balanced in terms of the saltiness. The amount of sauce versus rice ratio was on point. The cutlet has nice a crunch to it but eventually got soggy with time. It was so crispy and crunchy at the beginning!! The portions sizes look big but it's good enough for one person! I completely demolished this. The doria was probably really filling because my friend only finished 1/3 of her dish. The service was good but the waitress just forgot a few things for me. Completely normal and understandable though.

Yelp
A japanese cafe in the middle of nowhere hard to sight and hard to find but its not a hidden gem since it has 1100 reviews on google maps. This japanese cafe serves interesting japanese cafe food such as doriya and hayashi. Tried the hayashi poutine and it was superb. The doriya with the hamburg steak was exceptional personally love it so much. The pesto pasta was okay so so should have gotten the masago or the wafu though it would be more recommended. Tried the tiramisu and it was more like a cheesecake with coffee powder but ir was good though. The coffee was so so. Recommended for some good japanese cafe food! Cheers!

Yelp
The food is good. However, as you see from the picture attached, the order to the available table is not by the order on the sheet, but whatever order they want. If they know someone on the list, they go first. So be friendly to them for your next visit.

Yelp
Hello friends! Grayson and I tried a new French x Japanese fusion cafe the other day and had the most delightful time! We arrived at Cafe de l'Orangerie around 6pm on a Satuday night and it was packed! We were lucky that a table just opened up when we walked through the door. Note for next time, make sure you make a reservation ahead of time! The menu here at Cafe de l'orangerie is nothing short of spectacular. They offer curry dishes, hayashi rice, pasta and mains. Their flavours are a blend of French and Japanese flavours which surprisingly compliment each other. Grayson and I took way too long to narrow down our choices! We decided to start our meal off with the croquette. We've had potato and corn croquettes before but we weren't sure what to expect because the menu didn't tell us what kind these were. Turns out these golden brown delights were filled with mashed potato, rice and edamame! The exterior was so crispy and light it was unlike anything we've had before. We loved how fluffy the interior was and enjoyed the sauce that it came with all the more because it complimented everything so well.

Yelp
Never a dull meal when we come here! We love the food here and best part we love the prices of each dish! It's truly A hidden gem that's not so hidden anymore. They are super busy now and sometimes there's a line so I recommend going early! * Pork cutlet with curry ($14) ~ the pork was super crispy and crunchy with a nice juicy interior. The curry was outstanding and let's just say none of the rice remained in any of the curry dishes. * Curry special ($16.50) ~ this is bomb because of that super flavourful and rich hamburger meat! The meat was super flavourful with a bunch of flavour, onions and so bomb with the curry. The ebi was nicely fried too but nothing is close to the nice flavour profile than the hamburger patty! 100% recommend just for the Patty! * Masago pasta ($12.50) ~ IYKYK. This pasta hands down is a go to item! Nothing is complete without it! Perfect combination of creaminess. And loads of filling, masago, octopus, clam, muscle, seaweed etc... it's super flavourful and mouth watering! * 10/10 ~ this meal was so Bomb and has never disappointed! 100% recommend the special curry! * 10/10 ~ portions were good and the prices were outstanding I loved how they were all so cheap and affordable! Total bill before tip: $45.15 * 10/10 ~ took our information, nicely spaced out, limited capacity, digital menu!

Yelp
What a hidden gem this café is! Japanese & Italian fusion at its best. We started with their octopus karaage which was super flavourful and light. A tad bit chewy but delicious. We also had their carbonara spaghetti with hamburger steak and it is fantastic. Super creamy with bacon , mushroom and their tender & juicy steak on top. Their Neapolitan spaghetti is ketchup forward (as described in their menu) and quite good. Not my first choice but it works. I ordered their Hayashi special which included hamburger steak, panko crusted prawns and their Orangerie style beef stew. Of course I needed to add the :) It was incredible. Super flavourful and a great blend of flavours and this might be my go-to from now on. I'm hungry just thinking about it...

Yelp
My friend highly recommend this place! And I really not disappointed going there! Hayashi Hamburger with rice - the sauce is made by mushroom and beef, Super rich and tasty! Perfect match with the burger meat. Inside the burger meat, there is some onions, which is super good! Masago Pasta - My friend highly recommend me to order it! Of course I will listen to her, and I have no regret for it! Is super creamy with tons of Masago, There are some zucchini and squid added too. Whole dish is super rich. Green tea - perfect for green tea lover! You will love it! Vienna coffee - My friend oder this, She said it's nice, as it is not too sweet and those cream makes the whole coffee so creamy I will definitely come again if there is chance!

Yelp
First time here and have always wanted to eat here, glad we did, however may have ordered a bit too much. Started with the clam chowder and squid karaage, clam chowder was delicious just wish the clams were more present. The squid karaage was also nice, breading wasn't too heavy and oily. For mains we ordered neopolitan spaghetti which remind me a bit of Filipino style, but with a bit of tang and not as sweet, Hayashi spaghetti with hamburger steak..beef stew like and really tasty, cheese hamburger steak...fries at the bottom top with a unique and tangy red sauce, tasty and teriyaki chicken with rice and fries..this was well received by my daughter so must be good. . The spaghetti was cooked well and the hamburger steaks were so moist and didn't lack flavor. For safety they had partitions, took down names and numbers and all servers and staff wearing masks. Give it a try, it's different and no overly expensive. Tip...order a couple of dishes to share and try the menu.

Yelp
Cafe de l'Orangerie is a Japanese cafe that is a hidden gem. They offer a ton of unique Japanese fusion dishes on their menu and is home to my all-time favorite pasta dish in the Masago spaghetti. We ordered the Masago creamy spaghetti w/ hamburger steak, the pork saute w/ onion ponzu sauce, and the poutine w/ hayashi sauce. The masago creamy spaghetti is absolutely delicious! The cream sauce is perfect as it's light and not overly creamy. The roe adds a nice seafood flavor, and it's even tastier when you add on their hamburger steak which is really tasty. I'm also a huge fan of their hayashi sauce, and it's great on the poutine. However, the pork rice dish was a bit underwhelming though with the ponzu sauce being a bit too sour. Wish they included some kind of soup with it to balance out this underwhelming rice dish. Service here is solid - really fast and friendly. The restaurant is nice and cozy, but it isn't too big so might be tough for larger parties during peak hours. They also share a small parking lot out front. Overall, I really enjoy Cafe de l'Orangerie. Fusion dishes can sometimes be hard to pull off, but this place does it really well. I'd definitely recommend, and the masago spaghetti is a must-try.

Yelp
Visited: Apr 3 2019 Saw the great reviews for this restaurant and couldn't resist. This pace is tucked away on the edge of the Marpole residential area with ample parking on the street. We came here on a weeknight and was seated quickly. The food came lightning fast (within 10 minutes) and it was piping hot, which I love. The green tea latte was quite good - it was extremely matcha-y so it's a bit bitter for me. I added more sugar to my liking. The chicken karaage had a flaky and light batter, meat was juicy on the inside and it was very good. Everyone seemed to order the masago creamy spaghetti so I went with the masses and ordered it. I can see why it's the crowd favourite. It is creamy without being heavy and the flavour is excellent. Adding the hamburger was a good idea to give it a bit more oomph to the dish; it definitely paired well with the pasta. Super delicious. Hubby ordered the curry with pork cutlet and unfortunately the pork was over cooked. It was a bit disappointing given that everything else was so tasty. The curry (not spict, however, was interesting. It was rustic (with bits of carrots and lentils? and other veggies) but the flavour was on point. We wanted to try everything so we ordered a dessert as well. The strawberry cheese tart was just okay; the filling was nice and light, not very sweet but the tart itself was kind of soggy. It felt like it was sitting in the fridge for a little while. Ordered: Green tea latte (hot) Chicken karaage Curry with pork chop cutlet Masago de Creamy Spaghetti with hamburger Strawberry cheese tart

Yelp
I've been coming to this restaurant for the past 8+ years. It has been consistent with their dishes and the staff are always super friendly! My favourite dish is their Neapolitan spaghetti. Their Shanghai Fog (jasmine tea with white chocolate and steamed milk) is so delicious and satisfying to drink on a rainy day. I just love this place!

Yelp
Excellent place for their signature Japanese baked doria. We ordered it with a hamburg steak & curry sauce (highly recommend going with the curry sauce option!). Nice that it came with a side salad. We also tried the creamy Japanese-style carbonara which was also pretty good. Everything was packaged well in good portions for takeout. Can't wait to return & try their other items! We already know we'd like to try the mentaiko pasta and hayashi and desserts.

Yelp
Delicious food. Big portions. Friendly staff. LOCATION: This Café is situated in a small plaza so parking is a little difficult to find. Would recommend just parking on the streets for free. FOOD: For appetizer, we ordered the Tuna goma SE. Super delicious but was slightly too saucey. A little less sauce would have been perfect! For mains, we ordered Carbonara and Wafu. We have been craving Carbonara for a while so we were extremely happy with this dish. Wafu was an interesting soy sauce style pasta dish. Would definitely recommend mixing it really well before serving! For drinks, we ordered the Shanghai fog - delicious and very sweet! Would return if I'm in the area.. and on an emptier stomach given the portion sizes!
