Café del Centro

When you’re in Lugo, El Café del Centro is an absolute must visit. Established in 1903, this historic café has been serving locals and visitors for generations. The espresso is excellent, and their churros with chocolate are on another level, crispy, light, and perfect for dipping. Pro tip: get there early, because they usually sell out by 11am! While you’re there, you have to try the Pulpo Gallego. Galicia is famous for its octopus (they even have entire festivals dedicated to it). A true taste of local tradition and one of the highlights of Lugo!

Great view of the park and warming heaters on a cold day. Salmon was beautifully cooked and salad was fresh. Enjoyed the show watching the poor waiter try and keep the pigeons at bay. Thank you!

Well located, in the main square. But not really caring for customers. Prices and service are just random. We went there twice and got different prices for the same thing! One of the days they didn’t bring the complimentary xurros or cake with the coffee (although they did it to other customers) … just lack of care or was it because we were not Spanish? We stayed several days in Lugo but did not return given this experience.

Wonderful service! I walked in and even though they were busy, was taken care in less than a minute by a lovely lady called Ángeles. The food came fast and it was delicious!

Delicious food and first class service from the wonderful waitress I would highly recommend. A delightful out door eating area very cool and shady. We ate from the menu del día and everything was perfect the portions were very generous. Thank you for a wonderful meal.

Food was average. Service was poor. Asked for sale and pepper, none brought. Didn't ask us the entire time if everything was ok. Didn't offer ketchup for fries. Didn't bring bill so we had to guess what we owed and left. Charge extra to sit outside on the patio. Wouldn't go again.

Good but a bit expensive. Still cheaper than Madrid by far.

We found the waiter to be a real arrogant jerk. Rude interactions, dropped every plate, silverware and food item on the table with a distinct thud. Every. Single. Time. He spent more time sitting at tables talking than bringing the wine we had ordered a long time before. He appeared darn nice to the locals, but a real jerk to us and other visitors. The disdain he exhibited was remarkable. Langoustine were over cooked, the melon was cut poorly leaving some rind which tasted nasty. We were there for two meals, and he was exactly the same both times. We only went back because they were the only place open for coffee at 07:00 and didn't expect him to be there. We were on Camino and needed food that early to get on our way. The woman at the bar for breakfast was hardly any better. Definitely service with a snarl. Go next door, they're much, much nicer.

This Restaurant has an excellent location on "Praza Maior" Lugo, Spain. It has a beautiful view of the Park across and side view to the City Hall, not to mention people watching of the strolling locals & tourists. It is a great place for an afternoon Drink and Appetizer.
