I see this place every time I'm headed to Lancaster. Decided to finally give in and try it once a friend of mine mentioned going to grab Mexican! And here we are 3 sentences into a review about some really tasty Tex-Mex.
Upon walking in I was greeted by a hostess, who instantly complimented my natural beauty. So of course I loved her. She began to tell me there was a wait but we saw some TVs at the bar and decided to sit there instead. The bartender was great. He recommended me the White Fish (pescado) and to my friend the chicken burrito.
I love lemonade and theirs was fresh squeezed (comes with a refill). So fresh and organic tasting. And it was extremely tart, very well balanced with sweetness. I would recommend trying it if you're into lemonade.
Our food came out and I requested that my refried beans and rice be covered in melted shredded cheese. Of course when I got it, there was like 6 slivers of cheese on each side and my fish was placed directly over the rice and cheese so they got stuck together. Bummer! However, even though that is an extreme, super serious detail, my food was great.
The white fish was a grilled fillet topped with creamy Tijuana shrimp sauce and served with four shrimp brochette (shrimp brochette is jumbo gulf shrimp stuffed with Monterey jack cheese, fresh jalapeño, wrapped in bacon and fried to perfection)!
Let me just preface that freaking creamy Tijuana shrimp sauce is finger licking good! I could've poured it on my beans, rice, shrimp, my friends burrito, my shoes, keys, phone... you name it. As long as that sauce was present, I'd eat it on anything. So it's safe to say I enjoyed my plate.
The chicken burrito was decent. It had chicken fajita with cheddar cheese, pico de gallo and Tijuana cream sauce (crack sauce), rolled in a large flour tortilla and deep fried to a golden brown. Covered with Del Rio queso. If your into common Tex-Mex this could easily work. Seasoned nicely and covered in cheese, it's a simple go to option.
I'd definitely go back for the white fish and more of the speciality items, that seems to be there highlight plates.
Also don't skip on the habanero ranch (more crack sauce). If it's cheat day or you simply don't care, ask for tortillas and butter. Rub a small amount of butter on your tortilla, roll it up and proceed to dip on the habanero ranch... STELLAR!
