What a great spot for a nice time out with friends or maybe a romantic dinner. The waitstaff is great and really happy to help you. Check out the fresh salsa options for the free tortilla chips that are house made and amazing. I have been here several times and have enjoyed everything so far. Highly recommend this place!

This restaurant has really good food & service. Not to mention when they bring you the chips & salsa before you order they have a dip called jalapeño ranch. That stuff is awesome you must try it. While you're waiting for your food if you prefer you could request tortillas. And at the table they have butter, salt & pepper that you can put on the tortilla & roll it up & snack on them till your food arrives. The mixed drinks are good as well plus they carry my favorite beer Shiner Bock. They're menu is very good too they have lots of favorites to choose from but if you're not sure what you want you could order what's called the botana platter. It's a mix of different items, it's a sampler plate. They also have Chile relleno with your choice of meat, a plate called three amigos which is 3 enchiladas...1 beef 1 cheese & 1 chicken or you could choose how you want them. They also have seafood if you prefer. All in all it's a great place to go eat & have a good time. The staff is very friendly & helpful. I would go there again & again. Go expirence them, tell your friends & family...you won't be disappointed.

The service: Twice we had a party of 30 plus people celebrating graduations here. Both times we called several days in advance to notify management that we would be coming. Both times we were given 1 waiter. The waiter did his best to take care of us. With a group that large that waiter should have had some help. The food: the food quality is very good and usually consistent.

VISIT: 12/16/24 around 8pm This location was dead (very very slow) by the time me and my plus 1 arrived, keep that in mind when reading this review. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ FOOD: 5/5 -Very delicious, seasoned perfectly, i highly recommend getting the Beef Fajita Burrito*, it puts the regular beef to shame!. -Although the food did take a little longer than expected it did arrive burning HOT (temp wise)which is great. -The Diablo Queso* was hot and fresh, went great with the chips and cheese, would Highly recommend it to those who love Spicer Queso. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- SERVICE: 4/5 -As mentioned before the place was very slow (as in customer traffic), yet the food did take a little longer than expected to arrive. -Our waiter was very attentive and friendly, she made sure to take care of us, as well as go above and beyond and recommend us different items for take out (i.e Desserts). -Close to the end of our meal staff began to use vast amounts of bleach which overwhelmed our table, so much so the aroma of bleach neutralized the aroma and taste of the food, highly affecting the remainder of our meal, and dessert. Truly a punch to the nose in terms of Bleach Intensity. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- BUILDING: 5/5 -The lobby and surrounding areas were very clean maybe even spotless. -The decor is always on point! they don't go overboard when it comes to TEX-MEX, very festive atmosphere. -The music playing was appropriate and went hand in hand with the interior theme (decor). (Some other Tex-Mex locations have hip hop and such playing which ruins the mood) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- CONCLUSION: -This is a great location when it comes to Tex-Mex food, the staff are very friendly and the food is cooked with a lot of love. -It is located in a VERY BUSY area especially on the Weekends, so keep that in mind. -I highly recommend this location for Family Gatherings, After-Church dining, or Dates. Thank you for the meal, i shall return hungry for more.

One of the best Mexican restaurants I love going to in Mesquite. They have half price dishes Monday - Thursday. My boyfriend and I love taco Tuesday and enchiladas Wednesday. They have this white ranch sauce they serve that is AMAZING, be sure to ask for it. 10 out of 10 highly recommend🥰

This place use to be my go to for any occasion! Since moving to the area my family and I have come here on various occasions. BUT we went yesterday and OMG the food was bland and flavorless, they screwed up half our order, and they’ve changed the rice!! They use to have the authentic spanish rice and yesterday, bleh, white rice covered in oil with small chunks of tomato and jalapeno… It was ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. I would also like to add that the time before last when my kids took me for Mother’s Day, the waitress we got (green/blue short cut lady) was absolutely rude, she rolled her eyes every time we asked for something, and we overheard her talking about us in Spanish to a coworker (I am white and my kids are Hispanic/White and I speak fluent Spanish) I didn’t even want to go back there yesterday, but I did. And I wish I hadn’t. The owner and her son are absolutely lovely!! They have always had the biggest smile and always sooo kind whenever they served us, as well as every other staff member I spoke to, but not that lady. I just really miss the way the food use to be. I don’t know what’s changed.

Attending a birthday party. Waitress was awesome. Chips greasy, salsa good. Had chicken fajita salad and was gross lettuce and had to send chicken back tasted like it had been in fridge for a while. Yuck. Got another, salty and dry. So not impressed with food. To many Mexican places to go this far for blah dishes. Some liked their dishes, others had food left but no one was gonna complain at a party. All in all we enjoyed the evening and the space was adequate for a large group.

After a long, exhausting day, I sat at the bar just looking to unwind with a shot of tequila and a margarita—and I’m so glad I did. Ruby, the bartender, was a true standout. Her energy was professional, fun, and effortlessly welcoming. She treated everyone with the same enthusiasm, kept the drinks flowing quickly, and created a vibe that made everyone feel at home. She turned a simple stop into a great experience. Café del Rio is already a gem, but with people like Ruby behind the bar, this place isn’t just good—it’s going places.

Yelp
On a Sunday night the Mr. had a hankering for something other than the usual. He did his research and found Cafe Del Rio on Yelp. The restaurant is quite large with plenty of options to seat, we opted for the bar. For drinks we decided on the margaritas to start. He ordered the Fajitas which consist of the beef which is hand-trimmed and marinated daily. Every order is charbroiled and served sizzling with grilled onions, bell peppers and Mexican butter. Served with homemade flour tortillas, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, pico de gallo, rice and refried or charro beans. I ordered the Enchiladas dos-Two grande cheese enchiladas covered with a choice of queso, Tijuana cream sauce, or Tex-Mex chilli. Overall we had a great experience, the food was flavorful, very Tex-Mex.

Cynthia C.

Yelp
It was my first time trying out this place and I was disappointed by the food. The cheese tasted a little on the old side like If it had been microwaved. The shrimp and chicken were good tho. The salsa had no flavor the chips had no salt granted I could add my own salt. Overall I wouldn't come here again for the food maybe for the drinks yes the mango margarita we got was delicious!

Lea Z.

Yelp
I'm giving this two and a half stars. My husband's chimichanga was "okay" in his words. From a man who truly enjoys his fried tortilla stuffed with cheese and smothered in cheese, not high praise. Sadly, my taco shell was huge but stale. The tostado tasteless and the cheese enchilada smothered in canned cheese was sorely lacking. Nothing was inedible but nothing made me dive in for a second bite either. Our waitress was super friendly just wish she'd had a little more training. Silverware, side plates, things I shouldn't have to ask for. But, I'm sure she will grow to be a superstar among her peers. The usual leftover piñatas hang from the ceiling and mismatched chairs make up the ambiance. If my margarita had had a bit more tequila and half a pint less sweet and sour mix, I may have enjoyed it more. I couldn't finish it but the mini sombrero served with it was too cute.

Victoria E.

Yelp
This restaurant has gone down in quality and customer service significantly! It's been a while since I've dined here and unfortunately I don't foresee myself ever coming back. I used to get the enchiladas dos every time I came and it would hit the spot, this time I ordered it the "cheese" filling was not cheese but rather some weird curdled substance.

Yelp
Recently catered a Christmas party and the staff ensured every thing was on time , delicious. My family eats here regularly and based on that reason alone I felt comfortable enough to suggest this place for my work Christmas party. Reviews of this locations were positive as not to many knew about Cafe del Rio , and asked if multiple locations were available such as Rockwall , McKinney , prosper or midlothian

Yelp
Came here with a coworker for lunch and we were seated immediately. We had great service from our waitress and the food was good. I ordered the taco salad + soup lunch combo and it's definitely a good portion for lunch. I also had a side of guacamole scoops and the freshness was there! The salsa was tasty but could've been a little more spicy. Overall, I enjoyed my meal here and it would come back to try other foods.

Aja-Monee' F.

Yelp
This food was ammmmmazing. The service was very speedy. I wasn't even trying to come here originally and I was like ok let me try something new. I can imagine this place is great for happy hour. The vibes were very mellow but it was later in the evening. I would give it a 5/5 no complaints at all :)

Zoey H.

Yelp
Came to this place and their food was very yummy! The service was really good too, the server was very attentive! The atmosphere of the place was nice and their deco was cool. (ps they're actually open on the weekends don't trust maps) In conclusion, I recommend!!

Cynthia T.

Yelp
I was here on a Saturday afternoon and everything was great. The service was absolutely amazing. There was no long wait and the food and drinks were good as well. I started off with the queso and complimentary salsa and they were both really tasty. I wasn't a fan of the charro beans or the shredded chicken taco but the chicken enchilada and beef tamale is a hit. The food came out really quick and everything was hot and fresh. I loved the sangria and blue margarita mix but if you prefer a strong drink I would get an extra shot. It's very clean and smells nice inside. It was a little chilly so I would make sure to bring a jacket.

Sherri J.

Yelp
Pretty good Tex-mex food, I forgot to take any pictures. The churro beans were delicious! The staff were very friendly.

Rubia S.

Yelp
Revisited one of my favorite Tex-Mex restaurants with my sisters for lunch yesterday. Food was fresh, full of flavor and plentiful. Our server was gracious and gave us just enough time to make our decision from the menu after bringing us our drinks. We had a couple swirls (presented beautifully) while we waited for our lunch enjoying the complimentary chips and salsas. Everything was very fresh and the restaurant was very clean. We were delighted to find several new festive metal sculptures brightly colored to greet us throughout the restaurant. Three people, 2 adult beverages and an extra appetizer for less than $60.

Kady T.

Yelp
Ate here for lunch today and will not be back. The taco meat was saturated in grease which ran into the beans and rice that were on my plate. Butter bottle looked like it rolled around in the parking lot then was set on our table. The service wasn't the best but I do believe the sweet girl was trying. The chips were crumbs. Cheese sauce looked like it came out of a can. The employees were friendly though so I hate to give just one star but for me that's what it was.

Shale L.

Yelp
I went to there with a friend of mine, I guess I'm used to better service but I had to get the waitresses attention to get a refill on salsa and a second margarita ( and no the place wasn't packed or in the weeds as my past front of the house manager friend used to say) than I had order the shrimp, beef, chicken fajitas. which were ok but I ordered the same combo fajitas to go. When I got home ( I know I should have checked the order but thinking it was the same as the one I had eaten there I didn't) there was no set up, and no garlic/ butter sauce for the fajit meats so it was blander than bland. I did leave a 20 dollar tip that I now regret

michael h.

Yelp
Basic Tex-Mex. Came in on a Sunday and had the bar all to myself. All of the staff were friendly. Pork tamales arrived fast, hot and fresh. The prices are low and the drinks are strong. Restaurant was clean. Disappointed that there were no breakfast items available. Shouldn't be hard to throw together huevos rancheros, you have all of the ingredients.

Yelp
8/20/22: This was our first visit. We watched a movie at AMC 30 and this location was nearby. There was plenty of parking available around 9pm, and it was not too busy for a Saturday evening. We asked to sit in the bar area and Anneth took care of us. She was very friendly, a great hostess, and bartender. I had a draft beer, which was very cold, and she had a watermelon margarita. We ordered stuffed jalapeños, chicken nachos and a chicken burrito plate. Jojo brought our food and he was very nice. The food arrived at the same time, and the portions were huge! The food was hot and freshly prepared. We enjoyed the atmosphere and there were several seating areas, indoor and out. The have a large patio area. We would definitely eat here again!

Fathom K.

Yelp
The food was really good and the atmosphere was equally good. This was my first time here and I will definitely be back. The waitress we had was a very sweet lady that took very good care of us. She was the type you never knew was there but you always had your drinks refilled and the chips replenished (the perfect type of server). I recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
We have been coming to Cafe Del Rio for over 5 years to celebrate my daughter's birthday. I called and I was able to make a reservation for a party of about 20 and as I was completing the call I asked for the managers name with whom I was speaking with but he hung up so quickly I didn't get it. When we arrived four days later for our reservation the manager did not greet us as he walked passed us multiple times. He visited our table only to make sure we were the large reservation but again did not greet us or welcome us in to his restaurant at all. During the lunch my 3 year old son got up and walked around the restaurant, as I was walking after him to bring him back to the table the manager finally decides to say something to me, "yes please..." as if my son walking around was a huge inconvenience to him. I have never seen this manager here before. We usually have a very friendly manager who makes us feel extremely welcomed and happy for us to be here. Unfortunately, we are thinking of breaking our tradition and finding a new place to have our birthdays. I really wish this was not the case because we enjoy the food and the wait staff was friendly and attentive.

Bud L.

Yelp
The salsa was water, neither of us tasted any liquor in our margaritas. We each had the large margarita tasted like juice. The beef enchilada was ok, the charro beans were all salt. We sent them back and got refried beans, best part of the meal. Oh, the rice was good when mixed with the refried beans. The service was great. The place is a nice representation of a tex-mex restaurant. Really don't think I'll return, kudos to our service person. One more point, the prices are very reasonable, thus didn't feel too bad for the lose.

Sara B.

Yelp
Four of us went on a Saturday night and were seated right away by the hostess who commented on how "sticky" the menus were.....Great start..... Regular drinks of water and tea came quickly but then we weren't acknowledged by our waitress, Cash, for the longest time. We had to get her attention to ask her to take our order. We ordered a big bowl of queso that no one touched because it was awful. Tasted like cheese wiz. Floors were sticky. The restrooms were nasty and according to the "cleaning check sheet" in the restroom, it hadn't been cleaned since Wednesday. The only upside was the fish on the fish tacos. When we were ready to leave, again, we had to flag down our waitress for our bill. Horrible experience.

Teresa C.

Yelp
Awesome place Awesome people Awesome waiter Clean atmosphere Food excellent First time here

Kayla G.

Yelp
A coworker recommended this place and boy am I glad they did! I got the spicy beef soft tacos and they were massive! I love the flour tortilla here and the tacos were delicious. I would've never tried never tried the jalapeño ranch if it wasn't for my coworker and that would've been a mistake! Its unlike anything Ive ever tried at a restaurant so I was a bit skeptical but pleasantly surprised by it. We got a order of soft tortillas, but some butter on them and dipped it in the ranch. The chips are also very good with the ranch! They give large proportion sizes for a great price, plenty for leftovers. Since some coworkers and I were catching up we took a long time to order and talk after eating, the server was patient and respectful to us all. Cant wait to come back!

Melissa S.

Yelp
The service was awesome but there weren't many people there. It was Sunday evening around 6. I had the burrito and it was so big, it could have been shared. The ambiance was your normal Mexican restaurant nothing special. I would recommend this place for simple Mexican food.

Renee' A.

Yelp
Place all and all was good. The server is why this place is getting 4 stars. He was great and was very friendly and anything we asked for he was right there. My fajitas on the other hand, the chicken seemed like it was frozen and warmed up and placed on the sizzling platter. The onions and green peppers I think were the freshest not so much the chicken. And I've had lots of chicken fajitas, not my first rodeo!! Daughter had spinach quesadillas..let's just say she ate one and brought home the rest and they ended up in the trash. A bit on the greasy side and wayyyy too much cheese not enough spinach. Would I return? Likely with my bestie that goes all the time. By myself, no.

Shamayia J.

Yelp
Great food and amazing staff, great drinks and fast friendly service . Great lunch time spot and very child friendly

madison b.

Yelp
cant remember the guys name, but he did tell us to ask for "the short mexican with glasses" next time we come by and we sure will! he is a great sever we came in close to closing time after watching a movie at the dine-in amc close by that never gave us our food and he made sure to get us full and treat us kindly after our poor experience at the theatre. the food was amazing as well, just a really good and genuine mexican spot.

Kimberly D.

Yelp
Went here for Father's Day with my son and his family, my 1st time here. It was great. The wait staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. Service was a little slow but we didn't mind to much. It felt great to go in and sit down to eat somewhere again other than your own kitchen. The restrooms was super clean as well as the rest of the place. I had the fish tacos, they wasn't breaded like most fish tacos I've ever eaten so I was impressed with it. I would definitely go eat there again...

Josh T.

Yelp
After watching the Blue Men of Avatar, the family wanted to dry off and strap on the feedback. Next to the theater was this establishment so we decided to go and get some Mexican food. The restaurant has enough parking and big enough for SUV's. I failed to see the BIG SIGN that said Tex-Mex (NOTE: If you're from the Mexican Food Capital of the US El Paso, Tex-Mex can be offensive). As you enter, you can see them preparing tortillas and chips, very nice. The seating area has booths and tables. They bring you warm chips and salsa. They have different types of salsa and you can select how spicy you'd like it. Well the chips and salsa were good. The mixture of Blue men from the movie and all the different colors inside made me not focus on the menu. The family had enough popcorn and pizza with the Blue creatures so they had children strips and corn dog. Mom had soup and I had the combination plate. As usual, the Juarez plate was covered in yellow cheese. Look, if you like Tex-Mex, you might give it a 4 yet for $40 plus tip I give it 3 stars.

Arthur G.

Yelp
Pretty good Tex-mex restaurant. Everything was fresh and quickly brought out to our take, the server was attentive but not overly bearing, and the price was reasonable. It was a good experience overall.

Nyona C.

Yelp
Come eat here if you like food poisoning. Ordered veggie quesadilla and cheese enchiladas while my husband got spinach enchiladas. First it was him who got sick in the middle of the night and then me the next day. Would not recommend eating here while pregnant like I am. Too risky and dangerous.

Sheronda H.

Yelp
1st time here and I must say it was a great choice the shrimp enchiladas were delicious and hubby enjoyed his fish tacos as well. Generous portions and seasoned perfectly. Great service food arrived very fast! We will be back!!!

T O.

Yelp
Service was good. The nachos were well below average; the chips were too light and soaked in grease with barely a half scoopful of beans topped in a corner of the nacho platter. I don't recommend the nachos.

Carli S.

Yelp
We went out to dinner here last night. We were sat quickly and didn't have to wait even at 6 on a Saturday. The place seemed pretty clean. The chips were not that good but the salsa was delicious. My husband got a chimichanga with beef and really enjoyed it. I got the Tijuana Shrimp Enchiladas. I have 0 complaints. No doubt some of the best enchiladas I've ever had. It came with mango pico that had the best flavor. I highly recommend this dish. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and everything tasted really fresh. I got a pina colada and it was HUGE. It could have been a little stronger but it had a great taste. Our server was nice and very attentive.

Randall B.

Yelp
While they strive to be unique, in the ocean of Texmex food in DFW, cheddar is not what a cheese enchilada should be. I asked our server what sauce came with their Chile Relleno, her response was "Chili of course" it was not. Rice and beans were just okay. We tried their tres leches cake, it was like dry birthday cake covered in whipped cream and Caramel. On the border next door, would have been a better choice. Maybe they can make a margarita without adding extra sugar.

Vernia G.

Yelp
Great food and friendly staff. Try it you can't go wrong because for the price it cannot be best.

Ruby S.

Yelp
We love the service. Everyone is always polite, helpful and just friendly. The food is pretty good too.

Dara H.

Yelp
Originally we were supposed to go eat at Texas Roadhouse but due to the wait we came next door to Cafe Del Rio. We are glad that we did! The food was outstanding and very tasty, and the service was well above standard (Shout-out to Antonio!!). We got queso, brisket tacos, and a Chile Relleno. Definitely beat our expectations!!

Denise H.

Yelp
Went to a birthday dinner of about 45 people, that was with children included. It was prearranged weeks prior but they wasn't properly prepared. The service was mediocre. How they took orders and distributed food was definitely a training opportunity. The kicker was that they charged each ticket a 30% gratuity! The manager said because we had 80 guest which was a bold face lie! That section can't fit 80 people. We complained but the manager stated that she couldn't correct or override the system. Needless to say, that was 45 customers' first and last visit.

Micaela F.

Yelp
My partner and I currently live in Houston but we drove up to Dallas for a dog show over the weekend. We were about to embark on our 3 hour drive back but wanted to stop by Texas roadhouse before heading down. They had about a two hour wait so we figured let's just cross the plaza and go to this one Tex-Mex restaurant. I think that was the best decision I made that entire weekend. It was a really really shitty event that I went to so my spirits were super low, my partner and I were so drained we just wanted to get home. The server, the atmosphere, and the food I think completely made up for the weekend. The chips were on constant rotation we never got to the bottom of the bowl. I ordered a large margarita and it was delicious and strong and exactly what I needed. Ended up getting the beef fajita and the meat was just so juicy. The potatoes were a teeny bit spicy so it gave it that perfect touch. The flour tortillas just made a perfect combination with the flameado appetizer we didn't get to finish. In the beginning there was a delay, The server was extremely busy but we were super understanding we didn't even care, the margarita and chips made up for it. then once he took our order I think within 15 to 20 minutes our food was out so it was incredibly quick. Our server was just so nice hes an incredible human being I didn't catch his name but he was great. We didn't get to finish our food as you'll see in the picture attached but we ended up ordering dessert because the food was so good we could only imagine. I got the cheesecake in my partner got the tres leches. I 1000% prefer the cheesecake over the cake but both were so delicious. If I ever end up coming back up to the dallas area for shows I will 100% stop here to eat. 11/10

Nicole R.

Yelp
Omg mind blown!!! A definite spot to visit! Best Tex mex ever! Service was excellent and quick even short staffed as every business is right now.

Artisha L.

Yelp
This is one of Mesquite' best kept secrets. Cafe Del Rio is going so hard in the paint. The Mexican butter that came with the fajitas really sets the whole meal off to another level. Please make sure to check this place out... you will not be disappointed!! Also, fresh tortillas before u even finish your first stack!

DeQuilla H.

Yelp
I see this place every time I'm headed to Lancaster. Decided to finally give in and try it once a friend of mine mentioned going to grab Mexican! And here we are 3 sentences into a review about some really tasty Tex-Mex. Upon walking in I was greeted by a hostess, who instantly complimented my natural beauty. So of course I loved her. She began to tell me there was a wait but we saw some TVs at the bar and decided to sit there instead. The bartender was great. He recommended me the White Fish (pescado) and to my friend the chicken burrito. I love lemonade and theirs was fresh squeezed (comes with a refill). So fresh and organic tasting. And it was extremely tart, very well balanced with sweetness. I would recommend trying it if you're into lemonade. Our food came out and I requested that my refried beans and rice be covered in melted shredded cheese. Of course when I got it, there was like 6 slivers of cheese on each side and my fish was placed directly over the rice and cheese so they got stuck together. Bummer! However, even though that is an extreme, super serious detail, my food was great. The white fish was a grilled fillet topped with creamy Tijuana shrimp sauce and served with four shrimp brochette (shrimp brochette is jumbo gulf shrimp stuffed with Monterey jack cheese, fresh jalapeño, wrapped in bacon and fried to perfection)! Let me just preface that freaking creamy Tijuana shrimp sauce is finger licking good! I could've poured it on my beans, rice, shrimp, my friends burrito, my shoes, keys, phone... you name it. As long as that sauce was present, I'd eat it on anything. So it's safe to say I enjoyed my plate. The chicken burrito was decent. It had chicken fajita with cheddar cheese, pico de gallo and Tijuana cream sauce (crack sauce), rolled in a large flour tortilla and deep fried to a golden brown. Covered with Del Rio queso. If your into common Tex-Mex this could easily work. Seasoned nicely and covered in cheese, it's a simple go to option. I'd definitely go back for the white fish and more of the speciality items, that seems to be there highlight plates. Also don't skip on the habanero ranch (more crack sauce). If it's cheat day or you simply don't care, ask for tortillas and butter. Rub a small amount of butter on your tortilla, roll it up and proceed to dip on the habanero ranch... STELLAR! Check them out!

Melissa M.

Yelp
Came for apps and margaritas and this place is good for what I went for.The bar was pretty empty, Fast service I just wish the salsa was spicy it tasted like tomato juice. They also went away with the chimichanga bar they had with there happy hour! They Should bring it back they were really good! Can't get those chimichangas for apps or a meal either think it should atleast be an option on the menu

VeroandLuke A.

Yelp
This place has disappointed too many times. The service is good, but the food and management decisions on condiment choices or salad dressing choices and why offer potatoes if they don't have bottled ketchup! So I'd love a good salad but all you have is Ranch!? (Defeats eating a salad!) The plate presentation more than sucks, who stacks two tostadas on top of the rice?!! Tostadas are supposed to be crunchy not getting soggy from them being stacked (smh) uugh. They need some reorganization and re-training and for crying out loud learn how to cut lettuce for a salad, I think it's so lazy to prepare a salad with chopped lettuce! Use the chopped lettuce for tacos and tostadas etc ONLY please, not for a salad! Lastly, they couldn't even get the fajita nachos right, we averaged $15.50 a plate, and left there aggravated.

Al P.

Yelp
The last couple of visits we were forced to sit in the noisy bar area. This is probably the only reason for not giving the fifth star. But the food and service were exceptional. Not only did Diocelina provide extremely conscientious service to a packed bar, she was also the only bartender. She was simply amazing! The chicken fajitas were great, but the handmade flour tortillas were especially good. I recognize a lot of diners are likely spilling over from the always packed neighboring restaurant, but we make this a destination lunch or dinner spot and suggest you do too.

Garry H.

Yelp
As usual, I picked this place because of Yelp. Pictures of food make me go " I have to try that! ". The 3 different sauces for the chips were ok. The hot and the habanero ranch were too mild for me but had good flavor. Glenda got the brisket tacos which were very good, but the sauce was just a little too sweet. I got the talapia with a creamy shrimp sauce, bacon wrapped jalapeño shrimp and the charro beans. I love charro beans and these passed the tastebud test. The wrapped shrimp dipped in the seasoned butter was a hit. Now, the talapia, while delicious, was so light and fluffy it melted in your mouth. I like my fish to have some body to it. Yes, that's picky, but yes, that's me. All in all, a very good meal and we will return. But not because of the six screaming kids at the next table. Why is it always me? Because of the food and the free ice cream when you leave. Winner!

Yelp
My family and I came out to this restaurant based on my SOs friend who LOVES this place. Reviews and pictures looked good- we were excited to try something new! The place in itself is very busy, standing room only with about a 20-30 minute wait. We had high hopes! My SOs friend raved about this white sauce you got when your chips came out with salsa...it ended up being "just OK" jalapeño ranch. We ordered the queso, that my step daughter said tasted like celery. It was ok, but definitely lacked in flavor. I ordered the Tex Mex plate Del Rio Duo. It was 2 cheese enchiladas, fajita chicken quesadillas and rice and beans. The fajita chicken quesadillas were actually pretty good. Large chunks of fajita chicken and lots of cheese! I wish I had ordered a bigger order of them! The cheese enchiladas were very interesting! To me it tasted like they used the powder Kraft Mac n cheese cheese for these enchiladas. It was like a Mac n cheese flavored enchilada. I did notice they tend to dice up jalapeños and put them on EVERYTHING. I like jalapeños so I'm not complaining too much about that piece. I also ordered a peach margarita- it was huge and very strong. Couldn't taste too much of a peach flavor, but it was decent! Over all I don't think I would ever drive all the way out there to eat again- but I'm glad I got try a new place and mark it off the bookmark list!

Yelp
First of all that they don't have a lot of people working there during dinner time. The person that take my order and my order didn't write anything down. Then when the food came we didn't get the right stuff and talk to them about it and they said this what you order and I ask for two rice and they bring out side dishes for me. I was almost finished my drink and they didn't bring me one before I ask for the check. Until the end of the meal. But the food was very good.

Yelp
Not that great. The cream sauce is weird. The food is nothing special. This is Texas and there are much better options out there.

Yelp
Went here on a Friday night for a birthday party. We had 7 people and a small child with us, so not a fairly large party. When we were seated, the waiter came over and told us that it was happy hour and there were $4 margaritas. So of course the table ordered a round. Then he came to take our order. My friend asked him at that point if we needed to tell him who was on what ticket. He said, "I can do that at the end of the meal." Ok. So we order. Not a very complicated order either. We all ordered fajitas. As we are waiting for our food, we order more drinks. The waiter proceeds to dump an entire margarita in my purse upon delivery and then just walks away! Another server comes over to sweep up the broken glass and liquid and asks if it got anyone wet. I explained that it was all in my purse and she just says, "oops, sorry," And walks away. So now I have to fish the ice and limes out of my purse. Yay. We get our food and that's the only reason I give this place more than 1 star because the food was actually good. My husband and I got the Fajita Del Rio, and it was amazing. Now time for checks. Ten minutes after we ask for our checks, the waiter comes by and says he's still trying to split everything up on the checks. We ask if he needs help, and he says no. Another 30 minutes goes by and he comes over and says he's got them split, but for some reason the drinks are ringing up for $5.75 instead of $4, so he has to get someone to take off the extra charge. Another ten minutes and he brings out our bills. They're wrong, so he has to go back and fix them. Finally, after another 10 minutes, he comes back with them so we can pay (this means we have now waited a full hour just for our checks). We each see that they only took off $1.75 in total for all the drinks instead of $1.75 per drink. Whatever we will pay the difference to get out of there! My friend finally calls over a manager to ask what the deal is. She doesn't seem empathetic at all. She just explains that the server is new and isn't used to large parties. No apology or anything. I wanted to like this place, but the whole experience just left a bad taste in my mouth and a sour smell in my purse. Avoid this place, especially if you have large parties.
