We had a good lunch in the restaurant which had a very relaxed and amazing vibe. The greenery around is very calming. We chose this place since it had quite a few vegetarian options compared to other restaurants. We had a savory margarita pancake with the buckwheat and chia base and butternut squash and chickpea curry with mango chutney. The pancake was a little bland and the curry was flavorful but low on salt ( which we added on top). The service was amazing. The restroom for the place however is very tiny.

Google
Eclectic gem disguised as a hippy food joint. For a table of 4, start with the Mediterranean appetizer platter. The smoothies and the lilikoi margaritas are legit. Kalua pork with pineapple salsa crepe and everyone of the wraps were well received. Yes, this place became a favorite!

Google
Great curry! The shrimp one is a little too spicy but the butternut squash curry was just perfect. Very good portions too. We will be back 😊

Google
Loved the atmosphere here and wanted to dine in because of that. We got their butternut squash curry bowl, it a large portion for 2 to share. We enjoyed the mango chutney that came with the curry bowl.

Google
Excellent! Family of 4 with two young children. We shared the Mediterranean Platter for Two and Chicken Curry. Large portions and absolutely delicious. Excellent service and atmosphere!

Google
The vegetable curry is flavorful and well-balanced, offering a delicious mix of spices. The habanero chutney stands out with the perfect amount of spiciness, adding a delightful kick to the meal. The ambiance is inviting, with plants and well-arranged tables creating a warm vibe. The host's attentiveness enhances the overall experience, making it even more enjoyable. Definitely a place worth revisiting!

Disclaimer: The cafe name is in French, but it has nothing to do with French food. However, they serve amazing Mediterranean and Indian food. I was amazed to see South Indian options in the menu. The food is not spicy like South Indian, but it tastes great! Chic atmosphere.

Google
I feel it’s authentic. Also has fruit and vegetables crepe tasted more light. Beautiful environment with Hawaiian breeze~

Yelp
Love love love the spinach and feta crepe! Came here at 4pm. It was nice and quiet. Chase was our server and she was the sweetest and most friendly server! Love the ambience of this place. The floor is mostly stones, walls were mostly bamboo, lots of plants and fresh air. Perfect place to go for a snack.

Scott R.

Yelp
Didn't know what to expect here, but the ambiance and menu looked fun and different. Curry burritos?!?! In!! My girlfriend and I both agonized over the perfect selection, and neither entrée disappointed. I had the beef curry wrap, and she got the spinach feta crepe. We both liked mine better, but hers was great too...for a vegetarian meal. We really wanted a dessert crepe, but didn't have room. Boo. We will totally be back, and highly recommended this place if you're in Paia.

Yelp
Do I recommend this place??? Is the pope catholic???? Of COURSE I do. Not only do I recommend this place but I go out of my way to make sure when any guests come to Maui they come here! I just adore the savory crepes. Specifically the ones that make me feel most truly alive and overwhelmed with joy are the mediterranean veggie, feta, pesto and the pork, salsa ones. The little side salad always throws me for an extra whirlwind of happiness. The happy hour is good and the sweet crepes you can't go wrong. The SITTING is so adorable. Perfect hawaii, laid back, garden, open air but covered seating area. I love it here okay and I almost regret not gatekeeping this absolute gem of a restaurant but I must let the people KNOW

Lindsay M.

Yelp
LOVE this place. Absolutely delicious - the curries and crepes are a must have! Great for vegetarians and others too!

Melanie P.

Yelp
The food was alright. Had the shrimp curry. Took it to go. Clearly they are not set up to sell curry to go. Came in a foil lined box so a lot of the sauce got lost in the wrinkled foil. Nothing out if this world curry wise. Still love the location and will go back to try other things on the menu. They are known for their crepes and they have a good margarita! Mahalo for doing what your doing!

Shannon C.

Yelp
Cafe de Amis is my gold standard crepe. Any crepe I try I will compare to Cafe de Amis. So far I haven't had a crepe that was better than here! The savory crepes are loaded with fillings. There are a lot of sweet crepes to choose from but my favorite is the Nutella! Lots of delicious options to try in addition to crepes such as various curries and Mediterranean tapas.

Merra K.

Yelp
Was not expecting anything great to be honest thought it would be over sweet or flavourless curry BUT it was excellent ! The curries all had diff spices and the meat was tender. Would 100% go back. The crepes we got were sweet but awesome perhaps not a whole one for one person but shared they are perfect. Friendly staff and relaxed vibe!

Vishal V.

Yelp
Was decently surprised with this place. It's a cute little spot in Paia with a nicely decorated interior. The service was very quick and the staff were friendly. The main chef even came out to greet us and see how we enjoyed our meal. The curry's were all very good as was the beef wrap. The chutneys were the star of the show, especially the habanero one.

Gillian E.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants on island when I'm in the mood for curry. The shrimp and coconut rice curry wrap is my go to and it never disappoints. The shareable appetizer plate for 2 with pita and olives and tzatziki is also so delicious. The ambiance is lovely and the wait staff has always been so kind!

Charlotte M.

Yelp
This place is so great. Shared the Mediterranean platter appetizer, and had the Mahi Mahi curry. I had it with the habanero chutney. Divine combination. It came with the mango chutney but I recommend asking for the habanero chutney if you like spicy food. It is delicious. Also, the flatbread on the platter. Amazing. I could eat a whole plate of that. The food, so many healthy delicious options. I will be back. My friend lives here and she eats here all the time. I can see why. We all had the lilikoi margaritas , so amazing. The place is so inviting and the outdoor indoor decor was beautiful. Loved all the plants. All the staff were so friendly and helpful and it was an all around great experience. Plus, the location is great. Easy to stroll around go shopping and look at all the shops around Paia after the meal.

Yelp
The whole process is a disaster. They have a sign that says wait to be seated. No where does it say you need to get on a list in the store front two doors down. The wait is FOREVER! If there is any line at all, try something else. I'm

Vamika K.

Yelp
Coconut milk based curry is usually never my preference, but to my surprise I savored it at Cafe Des Ami. They served us the vegetable curry with two chutneys - salty and tangy one. We also had Banana toffee caramel crepe and Mango Pineapple smoothie -- just loved it. I would say that it would uplift your mood instantly . The portion meal was perfect for two people. They have a pretty setup for people who want to sit outside. This place deserves a 5 star.

Lauren J.

Yelp
The food was incredible. They have the strangest mix of French, Indian, and Mediterranean, and they all work. My husband and I got and split a chicken curry burrito and an Italian lentil crepe. I don't know which one was better they were both incredible. Coming back on our next trip!

Paul J.

Yelp
Specializing in crepes and Indian curries, this place is outstanding! Homemade dressing and salsa and chutney. This is a gem in a small town. Greek salad was Good, but the outstanding part was the dressings that were homemade. The lemon tahin dressing is green and looks just like the spicy salsa but obviously is a different sauce altogether and the other one was kind of a balsamic vinegar which was good but the limit the hein is outstanding! The curries are great with the habanero salsa or the chutney. The Kahula pork crepe has some habanero sauce (homemade)on side of it and a served with some sort of whip goat cheese which is outstanding. Desert crepe was chocolate with bananas and toffee sauce with homemade whip cream. Delightful!

Rick B.

Yelp
Ordered the Mediterranean platter for yesterday's lunch, and ate it all! Great selection of mezzes with lots of contrasting textures and flavors, though the tzatziki and hummus could've used a touch more salt. The pita was a touch hard, but overall a very satisfying meal. Great service, too.

Nick D.

Yelp
Perfect place for a meal. Food was great, staff and service were efficient and friendly, and the atmosphere was laid back and perfectly appointed (outdoor but indoor). Reasonably priced. What more do you need? Get yourself in here next time you are in Paia.

E D.

Yelp
Delicious coffee, had a latte and probably the best I've had on Maui. Also had chicken curry and really shrimp curry wrap..both were delicious.

Silvia B.

Yelp
Very nice patio, great service and fantastic food! There was also an awesome musician to make our dinner even more special. We'll definitely come back!

Mona G.

Yelp
SO YUM!!! SOOO many good choices. I ordered so much because everything looked so amazing. Best part - it tasted amazing too!! 10/10 place. A must visit when in Paia. The service was incredible and the vibes are immaculate.

Mallory C.

Yelp
What a charming, romantic and lovely little spot! We stumbled upon Cafe Des Amis after our Ashiatsu massage (highly recommend in Paia). Right away we were greeted by a cheerful waiter and got a spot very quickly. The patio is really cute and eclectic. They had a great mix of music playing (Jose Gonzales, Bon Iver, etc.). My husband and I both enjoyed the Mai Tai. So fresh and delicious! We would love to come back and try the food (the curries look amazing).

Lara B.

Yelp
We have truly enjoyed this restaurant over the years for its wonderful food and ambiance. I am vegetarian and my husband has celiac disease. Upon eating any gluten he vomits within 3-4 hours and spends hours in the bathroom. This restaurant has both vegetarian and GF options. On October 15 or 16 he ordered the gluten free crepes, which he has enjoyed before. About 4 hours later, he threw up everything in his stomach and more. He was extremely sick for about 24 hours. We think the restaurant gave him the regular crepes. So unfortunate. We don't know if this was a result of poor staff training or a simple mistake.

Susan N.

Yelp
A few steps off the Main Street. It's not as crowded & congested & appears to cater to locals or those who appreciate good Mediterranean or curries. The staff is pleasant & hospitable (Mahalo Kate W) we enjoyed the low key, laid back atmosphere in the midst of the hustle & bustle. Great healthy food; nice portions. A definite alternative to the typical island cuisine

Paulina A.

Yelp
My husband and I really enjoyed our dinner here. Wonderful food & drinks. We both tried the beef curry dish (recommended by waitress). It was so good (a bit spicy!) the portions are large so we each took some home. Would recommend splitting meal. 10/10

Shanny B.

Yelp
Came here at a quite time to study and ordered strawberry lassi and Nutella crepe (added strawberries). The staff was super nice, didn't rush me to order stuff (I took some time). The lassie was very good, and the crepe was filled with Nutella&great amount of strawberries. The rest of the menu looked good (I wasn't that hungry) while other people looked like they enjoyed their food.

Priscilla S.

Yelp
The food here is really good and the ambiance is super cute. Service is friendly. Great location, Paia is a fun place to walk around after you eat.

Brian S.

Yelp
This is what I would call a solid AOK restaurant. Service and food quality varies but never dips. Blow an acceptable some items are very good. I have to say the quality of the ingredients are mostly mass market. It does have a very nice outdoor seating area. They make good drinks and have a happy. Sometimes when they're busy, it feels like you can be rushed or if they want to go home you can be rushed but other times they are very relaxed. I will continue to attend from time to time but it's not on any kind of shortlist for me anymore. The creeps the best items on the menu.

Lori M.

Yelp
This restaurant has a great vibe and we've eaten at Cafe Des Amis many times over the years. The last time we were here I was floored by what I saw. We were seated in the patio and I had a Birds Eye view of the back kitchen and plating of the food, at least the curry. They basically grab your meal portion out of a fridge (or freezer), toss it in the microwave, nuke it up while it sits in a plastic Tupperware, throw it on your plate over some rice and serve it. Ummmm what?! If I wanted leftovers I'd go to my grandmas house. Needless to say we decided to never dine here again, the food is NOT fresh.

Vic M.

Yelp
Excellent service. Wonderful outdoor covered patio setting. The Beef Curry was tasty and excellent. $23. Squash Curry was good, could have used a bit more flavor and the included side of Chutney was wonderful and completed the dish. $18.50 Dessert banana chocolate crepe was beautiful and delicious. $9.

Ashish M.

Yelp
we were looking for a decent spot for food in the downtown after turtle watching at Hookupi beach and stumbled upon Cafe Des Amis. I am glad we went in. Amazing Indian curries. we tried chicken and vegetable curries. both were equally good and freshly made. the mint green chutney was really spicy and authentic tasting. we even tried humus and pita bread - both were really good. Would certainly go there again when we visit Maui!

Jo P.

Yelp
10/10 food, service and atmosphere! I loved this place so much. Food was super healthy, high quality and flavorful. Get a crepe!!!

Meredith B.

Yelp
We love the dessert Crepes there! My favorite is the cinnamon! Also have delicious smoothies. We liked the curry but we have one back home we like better.

Neeketa S.

Yelp
**Vegetarian Friendly** This place was packed anytime we walked past here, so we knew we had to try it out. The Vegetable Curry and Butternut Squash with Garbanzo Coconut Curry we both great. I thought the flavor of the Butternut Squash had more flavor and up the "Indian palate." The crepes seem to be the star of the restaurant. We had Italian Lentil & Tomato Stew Crepe. It sounded strange with the lentil-stew combination, but it was very hearty and exactly what we wanted! Don't forget to round out dinner with a sweet crepe. Sometimes sweet crepes can be very heavy, but the Cinnamon and Cream crepe was very light but sweet.

Zoe O.

Yelp
We had dinner here tonight and immediately felt welcomed by Tim. Sarah was our server and she was super attentive and friendly. We were all blown away by our meals. We ordered the pita and hummus for an app and scraped the plate clean it was so good. I got the Greek salad with chicken and it's probably top 5 best salads I've ever had. The chicken was so tender and the salad was very fresh. Everyone else loved their meals and we got crepes for dessert as well. If I could come back every day to this place I would. Thanks for the amazing everything, Cafe Des Amis! We love you and will be back!!

Yelp
Read all the great reviews from my fellow Yelp Elites Kanani K. and Rachael T., and have been curious about this restaurant for quite some time. Paia is not a place I frequent, but recent events have brought me here more regularly and has in turn piqued my interest as new businesses and buildings have popped up in the last 1 or 2 years. To my surprise Cafe Des Amis was quite the bustling place a few months ago. They have an outdoor-ish covered patio area that was packed with hungry patrons. Fortunately, we were able to get a table right away. Just in time too as a small line started forming by the entrance. We quickly glanced over the small menu that features crepes, curry, wraps, etc. Strange mix if you ask me, but they've been here forever so it must work! We ended up ordering the chicken avocado crepe, beef & mushroom curry, banana & chocolate crepe, and ice cream from their sister store next door, Artisan Ice Cream. My chicken avocado crepe was very tasty and all the flavors meshed well together. The serving was quite large and perfect to share. The beef & mushroom curry was also delicious. A little on the spicy side for me (the heat creeps up on you, then BAM!), but man that mango jam/chutney thing it came with went so well with it. I would definitely order that for myself in the future! It's the kind of dish that you'd call "ugly delicious." Lol. The sweet crepe was just ok, pretty standard, but the kiddo enjoyed it. The ice cream was also delicious and Artisan Ice Cream is quickly becoming one of my favorite stops while in Paia. Highly recommend their lilikoi cheesecake (if they have it) and their mana cookies flavor. Definitely check it out if you get a chance! The great part is you can enjoy your ice cream at your table. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and were pleasantly surprised with everything. My husband and I had to chuckle though, we couldn't help but agree that being there that evening had us feeling like we weren't on Maui. Lol. Not too many locals, but I love trying new places and this one's a winner in my book.

Mikala S.

Yelp
It's been a long time since I've been to this spot. Last night (Dec. 6) we checked in around 6:30pm. It was slammed but luckily it was for 2 so our wait wasn't too long. We both ordered shrimp curry with rice around 6:40pm. Time is going by and around 7:30pm, we still don't have our food. Our server comes by telling us they ran out of rice. WTF! She said, it'll only be 10 more minutes. The food didn't come out until 7:45pm. Our server didn't offer anything complimentary such as a dessert or knock the price down for waiting the way we did. Just NOTHING! I love this place but the cooks or whatever should pay attention to even something little as rice! There is a lot of rice dishes. UNBELIEVABLE SERVICE! Our server had no customer service whatsoever!

Tron N.

Yelp
Wonderful place to have brunch. Stopped by before 11a, and it is very open and relaxing. Ordered a latte and shared the Kailua pork savory crepe. Great and feel ingredients and all prepared. You'll also get some great advise and suggestions on things to do from those who live here. Steven had been an amazing help. Check this place out!

Bella S.

Yelp
Service is so much better here since last time! I see new servers and managers. The new ones are attentive, and help quickly!

Liz S.

Yelp
Cute place with great food at a good price. The hummus was the best I have eaten! SO good. My curry dish was good and the service was on top of things. Great experience!

Naiwi T.

Yelp
I've eaten here for a long time and it never disappoints. I'm happy they got the out door seating nice and comfy it's been awhile for me since I last ate there. I had the beef curry which is the perfect thing to eat while cruising around paia town and stopping for a break. The pita and hummus is always great I love the fact the pita is warm and the olive oil in the hummus was the perfect amount, other places just drizzle but you need that oil in every bite! This will always be one of my favorite places to eat in paia :)

Moani H.

Yelp
Overall: not bad food, nothing id specifically crave or come back for though. Good service. Outdoor seating, no ac. I ordered the lentil crepe and a lilikoi margarita. The crepe had good flavor but it was super oily, enough for me to not want to necessarily order it again. I ended up eating the inside. The lilikoi margarita was refreshing and the sugar rim was a nice compliment to the lilikois sourness. The waiter was very friendly and service was pretty quick. We had our own karaffe so didn't have to wait on them to get water -- it was hot! It seemed to be a well visited restaurant in the paiea town. There were options to sit indoor or outdoor, however the outdoor seems to be the better option because the indoor side didn't have ac and seemed like it didnt catch as much air as the other side. It seemed as though the waiters prefer you sit outside under the covered gravel space.

Rohit W.

Yelp
A true hidden gem. The fish curry is a major standout. But all the food I've eaten here is delicious. Good portion size. Fair prices on the island. Highly recommended.

Peter H.

Yelp
Microwaved Trash! Order a curry and they don't even bother heating it up on the stove. The fact that this place even calls themselves a restaurant is ridiculous. NEVER COMING BACK.

Tank G.

Yelp
This restaurant is two part. It has a cafe area and a patio area where they play live music. When I got there the patio was full so I had to sit in the cafe area. I was not very hungry and got a Greek salad. The salad was picture perfect and tasted equally as good. One of the best Greek salads that I have had. They brought some water to the table, but it was room temperature. It really needed some ice (I know, 1st world problems). The place does have a chill vibe. There is street parking available near the restaurant and the service was good.

Eve C.

Yelp
Love this place! Food was so good that I forgot to take a photo of it! I did get a photo of our amazing hummus appetizer . Butternut squash Indian curry wrap and and shrimp curry with rice - both were so delicious - highly recommend this place, small cute place with outside seating, friendly staff

Jason G.

Yelp
Crepes and Indian food. Went here with friends who relocated to Maui recently. Was met with an unmistakable feeling that we'd been here before, and realized we'd visited just a few years ago with my father-in-law. We weren't in the mood for a huge meal, so kept it simple this visit. Two curry wraps and two curry bowls. All the food is rich and vibrant and bursting with flavor. Very satisfying. They have a very nice indoor-outdoor section that seems to be in the alley between buildings. It's very comfortable and especially nice if you want to continue staying extra cautious during the never-ending pandemic.

Christina H.

Yelp
Incredible food, awesome dining opportunities, and great atmosphere with indoor and outdoor dining options. Moody lighting and delicious savory crepes! Nice wine selection also. They were packed when I went but food arrived less than 10-15 mins after ordering!

Yuliana H.

Yelp
Great experience getting dinner here. We had the strawberry margarita and the lilikoi margarita and both of them tasted great. For food we got butternut squash garbanzo bean curries and a savoury crepe. Everything tasted wonderful, and we loved the habanero chutney that came with the curry as well as well. The meal was very filling and both of us who got the curry took some of it to-go. Glad to see good vegan options, although it would be nice if there were more vegan crepe options. The outdoor seating ambiance and decorations were very cute. Our server was friendly and gave good recommendations. The only negatives - we had to wait a bit longer than expected after finishing our meal to get the check, and the table we sat at was wiped down with a cloth that smelled like it needed to be replaced. As a bonus, the ice cream shop next door (I believe it's also owned by Cafe Des Amis) has amaaaaing vegan ice cream, some of the best we've ever had. Highly recommend the earl gray flavour.

Gurdeep O.

Yelp
Food- curry chicken was horrible all we tasted some powdery missing salt. We told the waitress and she took it off the bill. Mahi mahi curry was really good and the hummus and pita.

Ash S.

Yelp
Wow- doesn't look like much when you walk past since it's at the end of a side street... it's a fusion of mediterranean and Indian cuisines. They're advertised habanero chutney was perfectly done. The crepe was light and tasty.
