Really enjoyed pour experience at this restaurant. The host did an excellent job with us and all the diners. Atmosphere was lively and upbeat. Food was great. Only slight negative was that some dishes were salty. Overall very good and generous portions.

The food at Cafe des Amis is absolutely delicious. we had a lot of different dishes and each one was cooked to perfection. the cocktail menu is also great with loads of different options and types of alcoholic variety. Sophia was our waitress and she made the experience even more enjoyable, she was kind and friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful. i would highly recommend Cafe des Amis!

They serve fusion food Mexican/Mediterranean. The Antojitos for two - mixed starter was good but some combinations didn’t really work well. The ceviche was not great. The paella was good. The huevos rancheros were nice. It is good in general but pricey for what you get. We had left overs and they packed them in paper foil that broke easily. For the price paid, one would expect something better to take the food away. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. The place was a bit noisy. The toilets were dirty.

Went on the recommendation of a local, was not disappointed; the place is really quirky, the walls bedecked with art which is available to buy. Loved it. Starters were really tasty, great flavours and nicely presented. For my main I had a burrito which was delicious and not too massive (you know those overstuffed ones that become a bit soggy and grim after a while) this was good, fresh and a real treat. Staff were friendly and it did busy up, I’m not surprised!

I went to visit my daughter at Uni over the Easter weekend and if my late husband was alive, it would have been our 22 year wedding anniversary. So to celebrate and remember my late husband, we went out for a lovely lunchtime meal. My daughter has been here before and she said you have to book over the weekend. We had lovely mocktails. The starters were delicious and pulled lamb fajitas were amazing. She shared the churros for dessert. It was a lovely meal and the service was great, very friendly staff. My daughter was well fed when mummy went to visit her. 😄💕

Came in for dinner with a friend and, as someone who has never been a particularly huge fan of Mexican food, was very happy with the taste and quality of the food. The seafood burrito was absolutely delicious and if you feel like sharing I would highly recommend the chocolate fundido. Combined with the excellent service by every waitress we spoke with Café des Amis comes highly recommended!

Yelp
If in Canterbury, and you find yourself craving some type of Mexican-Spanish food (e.g., a burrito, or fajitas) this is the place to go! I have heard some interesting tales about other places in Canterbury... but definitely recommend Cafe Des Amis. Firstly, if you are a student, you get a discount!! 25% last time my friend and I (who is also a student) went. So between our shared Fajitas plate and dessert plate, it was pretty affordable for a nice dinner out in town. Plus the waitstaff is super kind! Do be warned, depending on what you order (such as the Fajitas with a lot of smoke) you will go home smelling like your meal. But that's not the worst thing in the world.

Yelp
Not great but substantial, service was ok, food was ok, ambiance was ok. I really wish the ac worked in the heat but nice car on the way in

Yelp
I wanted to like this place so so badly... The servers are so friendly and this place is super popular with locals, but the food is so horrible. It is so overly salty and sour... The two stars are only because the service was nice

Yelp
Excellent casual Mexican restaurant, friendly interior, food and sauces hit a sweet spot. Fajitas, Burritos, Salads, Huevos... not a Burrito fan personally because they tend to become such massive mushes, but even those might work out here. Fish Tacos, and generally more Taco options would be lovely additions.. :) but happy as-is!

Yelp
There have been a lot of nachos, tacos and burritos in my life. The three best nachos I have had were on UCI campus (12 yrs ago), a phenomenal Mexican place in Barcelona and now here at Cafe Des Amis. We had the nachos with beef. We also ordered guacamole and chipotle salsa. It was all.... unbelievable. For main dish I ordered the Des Amis salad with bacon - also great and super fresh. My husband ordered three tacos followed by the mango cheesecake. The price point, quality of service, freshness of the food and authentic decorations make this restaurant in Canterbury a must place to stop.

Yelp
This place is such a great find in Canterbury! I wouldn't have thought that there would've been such a good Mexican restaurant here, but I was wrong! Upon entering, we were asked if we had a reservation, because the place was packed! When we said no, the nice server found a two top table for us by the window. We ordered drinks right away, and my raspberry daquari was heavenly. I'd never had a raspberry one before-it was so good! (Strong too!) We ordered the large nachos as an appetizer, because for the price difference, why not? They were good, and had all the expected toppings. My meal was my favorite part though. I ordered three tacos, because I knew two wouldn't be enough. The first one was the salmon taco with goat cheese and aioli. It was pretty good. The goat cheese wasn't too strong, which I liked. My second one was the pulled pork with the gauc and sauce. That one was really good! There was a big piece of pork on my taco. All the flavors worked really well together, and the meat wasn't dry or anything. But my favorite, favorite one, was the last one, the crab and prawn taco with aioli. It was soooo good. So much fish was packed in on that taco shell. I couldn't eaten several of those. You definitely need to stop here to have a drink and some good food! :)

Yelp
I would recommend making a reservation during the summer. The place has great atmosphere with the decor. The food was delicious and perfect portion for the cost. We had three course meal and my favorite would be the starter which was the goat cheese tostada. This is vegetarian friendly with an English twist to Mexican food (compared to American). The mojito was really good and service was friendly.

Yelp
We've lost track of how many times we've gone here - it's the best. We were first drawn because we were looking for authentic Mexican food, and boy did we hit the jackpot! The paella, burritos, tacos, mussels, beers, margaritas, and nachos are all incredible. We cannot say enough about this place. Be sure to stop by during the happy hour for discounted drinks (great to have outside with some nachos on a good day!). The staff is always friendly and helpful. Without question, our favorite in Canterbury.

Yelp
When I was moving to England from Colorado (US) I was told from people who had lived here that good Mexican was hard to find, if any at all. I was pleasantly surprised by my lunch today as it blew this theory out of the water. My meal today was in the top five of all Mexican food I've ever eaten. I opted for the set menu lunch (£13.95 for two courses). You have a choice of nachos as a starter, a variety of choices for main and then two desserts. I ordered the Pollo Verde and Tropical Fruit Sorbet. My husband order the Yucatan pork belly burrito with pineapple habanero salsa. The Pollo Verde was nicely cooked chicken with a jalapeno cream sauce and homemade salsa served along side nicely flavored rice and a salad. The Tropical fruit sorbet was mango with three little cookies and a strawberry garnish. It was a wonderful way to end the meal. I did have a taste of the burrito and it packed quite the punch with the habanero salsa but it was more so an after-note than really hot up front. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The decor is fun and colorful and if you are so inclined the wall hangings are available for purchase. We arrived at around 12:30 on Wednesday and there was plenty of tables available. However, with the size of the restaurant and the yumminess of the food I'm guessing that if you are coming for dinner you might want to pre-book, which you can do quite easily on their website. They do not have their own parking lot however, there is one directly across the street (North Land lot) or right around the corner at the Pound Lane lot.

Yelp
Have been going for years. Disappointed by the most recent menu, but the ambience has always made it a fun place to eat.

Yelp
Delicious! I want the fajitas recipe. The chicken was so tasty and cooked to perfection. Loved the taste of lime in each bite. Definitely recommend.
