6 Best Day Trips from Paris

"This Reims institution is super-charged, with stained glass, wall hangings that look plucked from an antique market, old paintings and framed illustrations, small statues and flea market ephemera, vintage clocks, and old bistro tables and chairs. It's bright and colorful but if the weather allows, take your meal on the outdoor terrace. The space is full of character, with hearty, saucey, generous food, and a friendly and engaging staff. Perfect for a quick lunch before touring the Champagne estates all afternoon." - Lindsey Tramuta, Mary Winston Nicklin

We had a wonderful experience at Café du Palais in Reims, thanks to Nathan, our incredibly polite and kind server. He patiently guided us through the menu despite our many dietary preferences—vegetarian, chicken-only, no seafood, no pork—and made us feel truly welcomed. His warm attitude and genuine helpfulness made our visit extra special. Thank you, Nathan, for your exceptional

Needed to sit down on the way to the cathedral and settled in here on the patio. Received excellent service, delicious champagne, so decided to stay for lunch. The escargot pasta, pate and smoked salmon salad were all fantastic. Great experience.

Lovely, family owned restaurant that has a wonderful atmosphere and friendly, charming staff. The food is very good with a range of wines and spirits. The desserts are especially tempting and it seems many people go there just for one of the desserts. Definitely recommended.

Stopped on the off chance for dinner. Had a superb meal washed down with a recommended bottle of Rose. Waiters were very attentive and extremely helpful. Met a lovely couple from Holland and enjoyed great banter with them too. Would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

There is a reason this place is an institution. It is the best food and service! They blend the perfect mix of french and english for the none french speakers and very mannered. The price is very reasonable for the quality. A must when staying here!

Wonderful Art Deco restaurant operated by the same family since 1930. It’s just two clocks from the famous Notre Dame Cathedral and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The French food is excellent with big portions and the bread and desserts are amazing. Sit outside to watch the world go by or go inside and enjoy the eclectic decor. Highly recommend!

We were here for our anniversary dinner and absolutely loved the experience! The place is family run and has a charming homely feel. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The decor is stunning with the stained glass and eclectic antiques and you will feel transported to another world altogether. The food is excellent - we had the Reims Ham and Duck Confit and Brut and Rosé champagnes and loved everything. The ingredients are of a great quality, everything tastes amazing, the champagne is excellent, and this was by far our best meal in France. We got reservations here in advance, but you can also in all probability find place as a walk-in, especially if you can avoid peak times. Cannot recommend this place enough, definitely give this one a try when in Reims.
