Went for a lunch Pumpking soup was amazing and had unique tastes. Schnitzel was somewhat rough, and not so tender as I had tried in other places. We also ordered applestrudel, but as abaker i could say it wasn't the best: There was too much crumble inside, the slice with the sauce was heated in the microwave because a skin was formed, and there wasn't a balance of sweetness.

Google
Café with good food but mediocre service This café is a sweet spot to have breakfast or a coffee and a cake. I would have given it 4 stars but I took a star off because the service is not very available. You have to keep looking for someone to flag to help you. The food was pretty good. We had their deconstructed pancakes and their breads which were very good. Their sacher torte and apple crumble were okay. Their lattes were good.

I came to this place to have dinner with one more person. + It’s a local place and there were no tourists so the prices were naturally fair + Food tasted good and the menu offers a large variety + Friendly service +Great place to relax from the city and the service stuff doesn’t rush you to order or pay - In general I liked all the food we had but was slightly disappointed by their Apfelstrudel, I had better once in Vienna

Interesting chill local vibes. They don’t play music (which is actually very interesting to me) so the restaurant is constantly humming with chatter of other tables and the occasional clinking of cutlery coming from the kitchen. I basically dined and dashed the Wiener schnitzel and Apple strudel. The food is humble. Not too sweet, salty, intense, or faltering. It tastes like if you like it you will like it, if you don’t then you won’t. Basic is the only word I can think of but not in a bad way.

Excellent service, good food and nice place! After an exhausting flight we stopped here to eat breakfast! The food is so confortinng and the drinks were amazing (one of the best coffees I've ever drink). I strongly recommend this place!

Google
Not one of the most famous viennese cafés but definitely worth the visit. Located behind City Hall, it is less crowded than most because of its large room. The chicken schnitzel is excellent and the booths very comfortable. The staff could be more cordial but the service is quick and efficient.

We popped in for coffee and cake mid morning on Sunday. The cafe was very busy and a lot of tables were reserved. They only offer the breakfast menu or the dessert items before 11am. And certain items from the dessert list were not available before 11am either, such as pancakes. We ordered the Apple strudel, the cheese strudel and the carrot cake. All were just average. I wouldn’t go back as the armosphere in the cafe was nothing special either. There are many more ambient cafes in Vienna.

Good hearty food made from good ingredients. Generous portions. The apple sauce with horseradish goes really well with the roast beef. The goulash is very tasty. Fast and informal service. They have lots of indoor and outdoor seating (even some outdoor seating along the quiet side street). The dessert chocolate cake is good. Apparently tipping is expected in Austria (unlike in many other European countries) so you’re expected to tip the waiters who take your orders and bring out food.

Yelp
It's everything I wanted in a Viennese cafe -- friendly, great coffee and food, relaxed and cozy atmosphere. It felt like history, if that makes any sense. It's a gorgeous old space, like a grande dame of a cafe and I was so here for it! Prices are amazing, too. You're not paying extra for some pomp and circumstance - just solidly tasty coffee and a gorgeously simple breakfast. I had eggs and ham and it was maybe €7 and it was probably my favorite simple breakkie of my entire trip. LOVED the proprietor. Didn't catch his name, but even with a bit of a language barrier, he was so friendly and just vibed.

Yelp
This is one of many café in Vienna. I wouldn't say their food is amazing, but their food is in solid quality and priced reasonably. Because it's a relatively large café and is a few blocks away from the nearby tourist areas, you can get in without waiting. While I was staying in Vienna for a week, I came here three times, once for dinner and twice for breakfast. I had Breakfast Café Eiles TWICE! It comes with an egg, ham, prosciutto, Emmental cheese, bread, juice, and melange (€12.80). If you're staying in Vienna for several days and are tired of going to a touristy restaurant, I highly recommend that you try Café Eiles. It's close to the City Hall and the Parliament (but it's in a quiet area).

Yelp
Typical old fashioned slightly run down Austrian cafe. As in most cafes they carry a full meal menu in addition to the pastries. I decided for the Wurstel which were long sausages like frankfurters. Very tasty and served with a roll, mildly spicy mustard and freshly shaved horseradish. I added a side of French Fries. A delicious local lunch. Fries were not salted which let me add the right amount. As in many old fashioned cafes they had communal newspapers to read.

Yelp
This cafe is both grand and cozy, which speaks to good design! We walked in and were seated without a reservation by a friendly waiter. He noticed that we struggled with the language and quickly replaced the menus with English versions. The food is hearty, filling and warm. Goulash tasted mostly of paprika. The meat was stewed until fork tender, yet tougher bits did get stuck between teeth. The desserts were satisfying. The cake was very dense and soaked in cherry liquor. A thick coating of bright pink icing made the cake look like a gift. The cheese streusel had a tart lemony taste, which was complimented by the vanilla sauce. End the meal with one of the spiked coffees. Orange liquor goes very well with coffee and cream.

Yelp
The service was the best thing about this place Andrea gave us great suggestions for food and drink and was so patient with our kids. She also took the time to sit with us and give us suggestions on where to go. My daughter said the spinach and ricotta ravioli was the best she's had. We also got sausages, a chicken club and the egg noodle dish with cucumber salad. All the food was well prepared and tasted fresh. The scenery was also nice.

Yelp
this was my favorite restaurant i went to in vienna. it was so cozy inside with a great selection for the menu and well priced. spaetzl and apple strudel were awesome

Yelp
The food was nice, classic Austrian. They served local wines which wasn't bad. The service was good and the staff was super friendly. The couple we were with had a seven year old daughter, and the staff was very helpful with the baby.

Yelp
Pet friendly ! Excellent service and good menu selection. We ordered the minced beef, home made ghoulash, French onion soup (different without the cheese). Comfortable seating area.

Yelp
Old-fashioned Vienna Cafe, not far from the Rathaus, nor indeed far from the Museum Quartier if you want to break away. Old school atmosphere. The apple strudel is held in high regard; I can confirm it's not bad at all ( nor is the sachertorte). The waiter, on our visit, spoke very good English. A good spot to stop and refuel.

Yelp
We thought this restaurant was so nice that we ate here three days in a row. The outside dining is delightful and you can watch the world go by. Key fact: this restaurant has seat cushions, which makes it more comfortable. I noticed that the bar across the street doesn't and also, we approached the bar across the street first and the owner was quite rude. The food is delightful. We had a chicken salad, a sausage plate and a schnitzel and they were all tasty. Really liked them. (Also had a suchar torte which honestly, was a bit dry. Probably because we ordered it in the evening and it likely had been sitting there all day.) The service was attentive and good. Our waiter was charming and gave great service. I think most people would enjoy this restaurant and I recommend it.

Yelp
It's been a few weeks since my breakfast visit to this cafe and my most vivid memory is of the tiny booth. It was wedged into a corner but in a claustrophobic manner. My friend was boxed in and each time she wanted to get up, I'd also have to get up....and legit hold my stomach in to successfully exit the booth. I've never felt so hefty in my life. At first we had been seated as a semi-larger table, but the host changed his mind and moved us for spacial reasons, apparently. Aside from the restaurant being seemingly created for people with no body fat, the meal was standard. Nothing special. I had the English breakfast...which comes with coffee (or tea, but I chose coffee) and ham and eggs. I think there was also toast but I can't seem to find my photo. Service took a bit of time but we weren't in a crazy rush. We were headed to the Christmas market at City Hall, and this was in close proximity. It worked as a budget breakfast spot. It also worked as a diet inducer. JK please you really think I'd give up pie and hot dogs?

Yelp
My hotel's breakfast buffet costs €18 per person...no thanks. Luckily next door, Cafe Eiles has breakfast plates €6.50-13 each, which includes coffee, or even champagne. The €8,70 "English" Breakfast is interesting, because its nothing I've seen in America, Ireland, or the UK...two fried eggs with bacon and chives cooked into it, served with toast and coffee. Pretty good regardless! (FYI: Continental Europeans tend to eat light breakfasts). Menu: http://app.cloudfaces.io/api/files/project/a310/lists/l1850/ba1756d5669e4297b668e5b680e396f1.pdf Its an old fashioned beautiful elegant Viennese style cafe inside, with a mix of locals and tourists, and the outside tables dominated by the smokers, as always in Europe. Service is friendlier than the average for Vienna. If you're staying in the area, its worth walking over to.

Yelp
A Saturday tradition until Covid-19 intervened. Food is usually good and comes quickly. Nothing special, standard fare though the service is better than many cafes in Vienna. The decor is sehr traditionell and most of the wait staff speak English well if your German is lacking. Can get busy during tourist seasons, but usually has places to sit without a reservation during the daytime, even on weekends, gets busier in evenings but even then never had trouble getting a spot (only book ahead if you have a larger group, tables for 2-3 are readily available at most times). Location is convenient to theaters and Rathaus. They also adopted the smoking ban long before some other places (like the cafe next door) so it doesn't reek of smoke like some other places in the city. Recommended stop for locals and tourists alike. You can get better, but you can also do much worse. Added bonus: food and drinks are sehr preiswert.

Yelp
The touts say this is number one. The renowned apple strudel is even better than touted. Start your day here with the strudel and a double espresso and your inner engine will purr.
google avatar

Sarah N.

Yelp
This cafe is right down the street from where we are staying and we are so glad it is! We've been there for every meal, good prices, friendly staff, and they accept cards for payment. If you stop by, make sure to save room for the strudel!

Yelp
We have been in Vienna for four days and have already been here 5 times! The food and service are amazing. Who needs a kitchen on vacation when you stay so close to Cafe Eiles?
google avatar

Paula P.

Yelp
We didnn't like this place, the staff wass very very rude. Literally forced us to tip, when really it was the worse service ever. Even the mug for tea was dirty.
google avatar

Mayra B.

Yelp
Staff friendly really good food and the place is really antique and unique. It was walking distance from our hotel and really centric place. Yummy cakes as well

Yelp
Wonderfully authentic Viennese cafe filled with mainly locals (refreshingly unlike many first district cafes). Conscientious service and smooth coffee with great 'Only in Vienna' ambiance makes for a very pleasant start to one's morning!

Jill S.

Yelp
The coffee and desserts are so tasty and the wait staff friendly and polite. Nice and cozy. We kept coming back. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This was my very first cafe experience in Vienna and it was wonderful! I had a ham and cheese sandwich, which the Viennese serve with a side of ketchup. I also had the Schneider Weiss, which was really good. To top it off, I had the carrot cake, which was also delicious. Very friendly staff and a warm and inviting atmosphere. My German is rusty but my server spoke excellent English when I stumbled. Five stars! Thank you!!!

Yelp
Very big Viennese style cafe with old and vintage seats. We ordered the English Breakfast and the frankfurter and they were pretty good. The tea was somewhat overpriced compared to the food. Service and atmosphere were also pretty good.

Sunny S.

Yelp
Super friendly staff, great breakfast and they have gluten free bread too which is difficult to find in Vienna.
google avatar

Yelp
Life is Vienna is made from these quiet and cozy little coffee shops. Café Eiles is wide, open and has this old timer setting, which is probably the best feature it has to offer. You really to get the space around you, but the sitting space is way too small. The breakfast that I had was normal and the portions were regular. The service is far and in-between so be ready for some waiting time. Otherwise it's just another café house in Vienna. Good for a quick stop, but not for relaxing or chatting.

Luis G.

Yelp
This restaurant was nice. I went with my wife while on our stay in Vienna. There was no crowd I think that being Christmas Day had something to do with it. The fries were the best I had a beer and the sausage platter.
google avatar

Ruby L.

Yelp
this big viennese cafe was near our hotel during our stay in april. we wanted to try their version of the sacher torte since the original sacher torte was a big let down. their version was much better. the staff was nice and the decor was a bit rustic.

Damon B.

Yelp
Another old Viennese coffee house, so it is naturally old like an antique shop. However the service was good and the coffee was good.

A H.

Yelp
This Viennese Café is one of the nicest I've seen, I liked the traditional lay out without looking old or dusty! But I couldn't judge on their drinks myself: my friends said it was good (and the pastries tasty!), but I arrived after them and the waiter never came to our table again - so I didn't order anything. One piece of advice: if you want something, call or wave to the waiter! It was quite busy on a Saturday afternoon but it is so big there were still some tables left. Ladies, be prepared to queue if you want to go to the bathroom.
google avatar

Anja L.

Yelp
The Cafe looks quite polished both from outside and inside, it's a place to meet with a friend and talk for ages looking outside the window to the busy street. Maybe then you won't notice that the service is not exceptional and the taste of the cakes either. The cafe takes credit card though, which is not typical and might be nice to know if you are running out of cash)
google avatar

Mimi K.

Yelp
The cafe looks nice. It's a typical Viennese cafe with high ceilings and a quaint setting. Unfortunately, the waiter was so rude to us that we left before ordering. All we did was walk by him towards a reserved table-and he screamed at us! we said we were just looking for a table for 4 in a very polite and friendly manner and he screamed again, saying it's not his problem! There were tables everywhere but by this time he had killed the vibe for us. Four stars for the appearance and zero stars for service.

Yelp
My Aussie friend and I visited after seeing the Christmas market at the Rathaus-park. The staff are very helpful, and seemed to appreciate my failed German. The beer was lovely and very affordable. The interior seemed like it hadn't changed for years so gave it a really classic feel. Lovely little cafe.

Phil O.

Yelp
This place would have garnered a much more favorable review if at the end of our meal our waiter had not come up and told us tip is not included in our total and asked how we were going to give him a tip and proceeded to add his own tip to the card reader to cash us out. Clearly the waiters pray on American tourists feeling awkward with the language barrier to get more money out of us. Very tacky.
google avatar

Yelp
we loved the classic salon style atmosphere and the food was great. we were surprised at how inexpensive and authentic it was, there is nothing like it in the states!

furtivos h.

Yelp
for an old time classic, the food was very good and the service very quick and friendly you did not feel like you were handled like at the tourist trap White Chimney Sweep mellow place, easy seating, it was just right

Kathy K.

Yelp
This place is a couple of blocks from my hotel. I passed it several times, and on my last evening in Vienna I decided to try it. It's very pretty and traditional inside, with traditional Viennese dishes. I ordered a Topfelstrudel with vanilla sauce and a cafe Vienna. The food was delicious. I saw the reviews here about bad service. My waitress was very sweet. Really she was too nice. I waited and waited for my bill as she sat at a table with some Italian tourists giving them tips on what to see. I eventually left my money on the table and left. But that was a small thing.

Sunday M.

Yelp
Huge cafe in a gorgeous traditional style. The waitress was awesome, not hovering at all (not like some cafe's in Vienna, where you've been asked three times what you want to order before you've even put your bag down...I'm looking at you sacher). Slow pace, relaxed, great pots of tea. We sat down and took a load off our feet and weren't made to feel like pesky tourists. We'll definitely be back!

Vl D.

Yelp
The only reason I have tried Eiles is its proximity to the place I was staying at. However, the pretty good location and excellent decor do not fix the food. It was bland and greasy, although relatively inexpensive. The service was good, but if you are looking for a finer food experience, look elsewhere; Vienna has its share of truly excellent cafes.
