I went here on Friday past with two British friends, for a looooooooooong lunch. It was wonderful. We each had something different from the menu, and were all equally impressed. I had the yummy Chevre Chaud, a starter portion with three little goat's cheese tartlets served with rucola and pine nut side salad, drizzled with balsamic dressing. The other girls had respectively, the Plat du Jour vegetarian dish [ a pea and mint burger combination], and the tabouleh and falalel starter portion. It was something new to try both lavender soda, and violet soda [ for those of you who have British/ Irish roots, the viola soda tasted exactly like those sweets of childhood, Parma Violets... ooh the nostalgia :]
We sat for several hours, and the service was really good. They brought our dishes at the same time [ a rarity in Vienna], and checked several times if everything was okay, but not in an overbearing way. It's not the cheapest place in town, the coffee is really expensive there compared to other places, but it is good coffee, so that makes up for the 3,50 per cup [ for a Verlangter schwarz]
The decor is funky, both modern and with a nod to rustic France, and it's a great spot to sit for hours on end with friends chatting, or for a relaxing place to catch up on some reading in town.
I'll definitely come back... it's a wee gem near to the Votiv Kirche .
