Review: Hotel de la Ville, Rome - SilverKris

"An iconic Roman trattoria with a street-side position and striking chequered flooring, offering a distinctly local atmosphere while serving elevated versions of rustic classics. Expect refined takes on dishes such as carbonara and rigatoni with braised oxtail, making it a classy, any-occasion dining choice that retains authentic Roman character." - Maria Pasquale

This restaurant is incredible. The staff has treated us like close friends. If you need help selecting a dish from their menu, simply ask the servers for a recommendation. There are no wrong answers here. The restaurant is located inside of the Hotel de la Ville. There is no rush, sit down enjoy the atmosphere, and eat at your own pace. This place feels like the best friend you've always had. Noelle has been the most exemplary server. She made us feel at home. We love it here! Grazie Mille, Cafe Ginori. Ciao!

Went here for breakfast around 11am on a Tuesday in August. The café was quiet and relaxing with just a couple of tables occupied. Service was good and the atmosphere very charming. We had avocado toast, an omelette, and cappuccinos—everything was fresh and tasty. The little shop in front selling their branded plates is also a nice touch. Overall, a great spot for a calm and stylish breakfast in Rome.

We had our dinner in Ginori restaurant 2 days ago. The service was good, the atmosphere was good. However, the food (main course) was not as good as expected. Each main course cost around 40 euros, the quantity was so little (it’s fine, as we weren’t hungry), and it was not so tasty and not so presentable. At last, the bill has included 15% of service costs. Even though the % can be modified as we want, but it feels already a bit compulsory. I understand Ginori is targeted as a luxury restaurant, I had really high expectations. however, the food was not good enough.

Overall we had a lovely night there. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere was great. The scallops were overcooked, and carbonara was bit salty but the lamp and mashed potatoes were delicious. Would definitely give it another try.

We came for supper here at around 8pm. The drinks were good but the wine and cocktails had a sizeable markup (although i do understand this is how restaurants make their profit). The service was decent, our server did everything she should have and was very attentive and considerate when it came to allergens, something I apreciate. The food came in reasonable time, I and another member of my party ordered this steak with rosmary potatoes and tartar sauce. The potatoes were delicious and most of the steak was good howhever it began to move onto the rare side so i did not eat all of it. The burger another memebr of my party had was described as “ok” which is very dissapointing when you are spending €42 on food. For desert I had the maritozzi. It was good but definitely nowhere near the fluffy and light cream bun i was expecting, it was more of a hard cold pastry with icecream ontop of it. It took a long time to come and it was decent in tatse. Overall while the restuarant was good it the food could have been better especially for the high price point that it sits at howhever the service was good!

As the cafe mosaico inside the hotel was closed that day, I ended up at Cafe Ginori by chance. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I went for breakfast. And there was no one else in the restaurant at that time except me :) I ordered the chef's special choice from the menu, 'maritozza bread, salmon and scrambled eggs with red caviar'. It was really delicious. Although the portions are fine dine’ size :) At the exit, I said something to the gentleman who helped me put on my jacket that, the atmosphere was better than the food. It was just that I didn't use the right English words at that moment. Overall, I really enjoyed both the breakfast and the atmosphere in the restaurant. I hope to come back one day. Or as a guest to that 5star hotel ;)

Tried to find good restaurants near tourist attractions was very hard, we went in with low expectations and found the food was one of the best we had so far in Rome. Service is exceptional, the staff even brought our daughter coloring books and extra cherry tomatoes and desserts. Thank you for the extra cares and attention!
