The Best Way to Travel Through Northern Morocco Is by Train — Here's How to Plan Your Trip

"Café Hafa, established in 1921, resembles an amphitheater tumbling down the cliff edge. It’s hardly a well-kept secret, so finding a spot may take some time. But once settled, it's easy enough to get a cup of Tangier’s special iteration of Morocco’s famous mint tea from one of the servers winding through the tables." - Elle Benson Easton

A New Tangier Hotel Honors the Cultural Heritage of a Timeless City | Vogue

"Situated across a hilltop on the western tip of the continent, Tangier is known for its staggered cityscape of striking blue and white houses topped with the occasional turret, all overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar where it meets the Atlantic Ocean. It’s also known for its history. Long before European colonization and Morrocan independence, Tangier was a Berber town (and remains one of the best places in the world to buy Berber rugs and other crafts). Later, in the 1950s, the city’s unusually permissive attitudes made it a hub for Beat Generation writers from William Burroughs to Allen Ginsberg, while in the 1970s, the town experienced another moment in the spotlight when the Rolling Stones could be found hanging out at the famous hillside spot Café Hafa." - Amelia Abraham

This is one of the oldest cafes in Tangier and is located in the Medina. The Cafe has an excellent position overlooking the Straits of Gibraltar and with a view of the Spanish coast. They offer both food as well as a varied selection of coffees, tea's and soft drinks. The location is great for enjoying drinks with friends and enjoying the great views. It is also a great location for photo opportunities. The Cafe Hafa is a must visit if you are ever in Tangier.

Nice venues with wonderful views of the sea. Very touristic and busy. Shame that only few staff attend, mostly offering green tea to everybody but if you order something else (food or another drink) must wait for very long. In my case, we left after 45 minutes of waiting for couple of juices. We enjoyed the views though.

Café Hafa is a hidden gem along the stunning coastline, offering breathtaking views of the azure sea. Perched on a cliff, this café invites you to relax amid lush greenery and the soothing sound of waves. The highlight is undoubtedly the traditional Moroccan breakfast, featuring freshly baked bread, aromatic mint tea, and delicious local delicacies. Each bite is a taste of Moroccan culture, made even better by the picturesque surroundings. What makes Café Hafa truly special is how easily time slips away. You can spend hours here, savoring your meal, enjoying the view, or simply unwinding. It's not just a café; it’s an experience you won’t want to miss.

Important point: Only accepts cash, no cards. Excellent view of the Mediterranean Sea. Lovely outdoor seating areas spread out across different sections. Food is below average but the mint tea is very good. Service is ok and you can see waiters running around up and down the stairs with huge trays of mint tea. While I was there at 5 pm, a very large group of about 60 Chinese tourists came in. Their guide or group leader kept talking to them in Chinese using a loudspeaker and ruined the entire atmosphere for everyone. They all had audio guides in their ears. So not sure why the cafe allowed such microphones/ loudspeakers.

Cafe Hafa is not a single cafe, instead there are multiple kiosks squashed under one roof. Prices are affordable but service is slow - takes thirty minutes for one Moroccan mint tea. Food quantity is limited and quality isn’t fresh, with only a few vegetarian options. The Moroccan crepe was decent, the baguette with peanut butter was also average and the orange juice was fresh but overpriced at 20 Dhs. The mint tea took so much time that all our food was done so we had to cancel it. The restaurant is not stroller or wheelchair friendly. That said the views are spectacular - out of this world!! You could see Spain from the cafe with the cold breeze and marvelous views, everywhere in the cafe was picturesque and photogenic but unfortunately there wasn’t a direct access to the coast from the cafe. Overall it’s a tourist trap, overly priced, limited quantity, poor quality, slow service and not stroller friendly, but the views made it up. Good to visit if you are around but nothing too special!

Tbh I went there as per google recommendation and travel blogs, but i understand the hype now. Amazing sea facing view and a great vibe. We went in the evening when it got dark but I wish I went there in the morning .there is plenty of place to sit . I ordered mint tea which was okay but the veg panini was excellent ( just the right amount of crisp and full of cheese and veggies) . I was already full hence didn’t order much , just had a light snack and went for the view . But 10/10 for the view, cost effectiveness and the food. Highly recommended . The only thing they can improve upon is cleanliness . Also because it’s a huge place, there was a delay in taking the order but otherwise the staff was quite friendly . Will definitely go again if I visit tangier in future.

This was the famous hangout spot for the Beatles! Fantastic views! If you could get past the hygienic then you'll enjoy the food there. Their chicken Shawarma was amazing. Their pita bread was insanely good. Flaky and crispy on the outside and buttery delicious on the inside paired perfectly with their special sauce. Fries were bland though. Cheap price too! I ate their twice!

If you’re in Tangier you need to visit this place. I’m not a fan of Minty Tea, but if you do order minty tea try it with extra suger. Other than that, sit down relax and enjoy the view. Plenty of seating area. There are other area within the Vinicius where you can walk around and get amazing views
