Google
Great place to grab some Hawaiian breakfast - eggs with spam, banana pancakes Portuguese sausage and waffles. I had an omelette with bacon, cheese and asparagus. The French toast was a little tough on the crust. The food was delicious. The service was friendly. No team bathroom - a porta potty.

Google
Always one of our stops up to North shore Food is delicious, prices are very reasonable, especially considering it's North shore. This time went with a local Portuguese omelette and the breakfast in a barrel. Service is always kinda slow, but they make everything fresh so it's really not bad considering.

I wanted to share my recent experience at Cafe Haleiwa, a charming local café with a genuine Surfside Hawaiian ambiance. This spot is perfect for those looking to immerse themselves in the local culture. At Cafe Haleiwa, you place your order at the counter and then take a seat to be served. It's worth noting that if you're in a hurry, this might not be the best choice, but the leisurely pace adds to its authentic charm. For breakfast, I opted for the country breakfast with French toast. It was a delightful choice! The French toast came sprinkled with sugar, and I decided to add some bananas on top – they were absolutely fantastic. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and the eggs were flavorful and cooked to perfection. Overall, it was a great experience that truly captured the essence of the local vibe. My wife chose the huevos rancheros, and of course, I had to give them a try. They were delicious and had an authentic Mexican taste, albeit with a unique twist that made them stand out. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend stopping by Cafe Haleiwa for a taste of the local flavor and a relaxing breakfast experience. If you’re in a rush, this might not be the place for you. It is a truly laid-back traditional North Shore Hawaiian experience

Google
Outdoor seating which I had no idea behind the cafe where you can pretty much chill around. The food was very good with the amount of spice.

Google
Overall it’s nice for breakfast but nothing much to return for here, miss the place across the street, service nice though

Loved it. Best breakfast I’ve had in awhile. Everything was perfect and delicious

Google
Café Haleiwa is a casual spot in Haleiwa on Oahu's North Shore, known for its breakfast and brunch with local flavors. We visited for lunch after golf and it was very busy. We tried the Loco Moco, which was excellent, and their bottled fresh juice, which was good. The Lion coffee wasn't as strong as I would have liked, but it was decent. However, the porta-potty was in terrible condition—smelly and dirty, so we ended up going to Starbucks to use the restroom.

Google
This place is awesome! Excellent food, great service, and delicious coffee! The Hawaiian Delight waffle is to die for. The Kalua Pork Eggs Benedict are insanely good. And the steak and eggs were good as well. Baby had waffle and bacon which were more than enough to fill her up.

Yelp
Hometown Haleiwa feel. So simple and easy going I loved the surfer vibe. Cute little self serve water and pre paid coffee station. The food may come out on paper plates but it is just sooo good. The French toast was what I needed after my hike to refuel my tummy and soul. The bacon was crisp and yummy. Eggs pretty cooked! I don't think I have sat down and ate so much at one time, I almost finished it all!!! Service is chill and kind. Love this cafe! Have been there a couple times and I am never disappointed

Yelp
Really cute place. Thankful to my friends for taking me here! I ordered the chicken club sandwich to go and ate it in the car. We did wait in the restaurant and it was really hot lol Super delicious sandwich but a bit hard to eat! The lettuce and tomatoes kept falling out. I think it would be easier to eat in the restaurant, and in addition I would have liked more mayo, mustard and ketchup (condiments) which I could have asked for if I was in the restaurant. Anyways I would go back if I was in the area!

Yelp
Laidback, tons of seating in or outdoors, delicious breakfast and fresh items, coffee and other drink options, in a laxed cafe in the NS, what more could you ask for? This cafe is counter service and the staff work hard to get through the lines of people, cleaning and throwing out trash to make more room for other patrons. Simple chicken sandwich and veggie melt for us today, and it hit the spot. Mahalo all!

Yelp
Wanna be served pre-made waffles drenched in whip cream in a plastic plate ? If so this is your spot. The waffles are within the standards of a your holiday inn continental breakfast. Nothing says "American food" like the pic below.

Yelp
Loved this spot. Got here early for breakfast while on vacation. Very friendly and welcoming service. Casual seating outside to enjoy the beautiful island weather. Food was good, felt like visiting a friend's home for a meal. Recommend!

Yelp
Cute little cafe in the north shore. Abundance of seating inside and outside. Staff were respectful and nice. Typical breakfast food you'd get at any diner but it was made good. Parking in the back of the cafe. Not too expensive for breakfast.

Yelp
Great place to grab some breakfast after snorkeling. I wasn't too hungry and ordered the French toast which was tasty and filling. food came out quick. I like the relaxed beach vibe.

Yelp
We've passed by this place many of times and thought why not try it out. So we stoped by to get some breakfast. There's plenty of parking in the back. The workers are very nice. I'm not going to lie, it's a little bit run down but that doesn't affect that food quality. The food taste very homey. Comforting and for the price, don't expect top tier high end restaurant. It's like mom or dad made it. The wait was not long and the food was fresh. I'd definitely come here for a quick cheap meal. There's also outdoor seating if you want to enjoy fresh air.

Yelp
We found this place by happenstance and were very pleased. The service was nice and the food was delicious.

Yelp
Twenty years ago, when we lived on the island, Café Haleiwa was our Thursday tradition--it was simply the best! The breakfast burrito is massive, packed with flavor, and always a delight. Pair it with freshly squeezed juice and a great cup of coffee, and you have a perfect start to your day. The avocado toast and sweet bread French toast are also my favorites. This summer, we had the chance to return, and it was just as incredible as we remembered. Café Haleiwa truly is a North Shore staple that never disappoints!

Yelp
Very cute find in Haleiwa Town this morning. My husband and I couldn't decide where to go and randomly picked this cafe in the midst of arriving. Once inside we were greeted by the friendly staff and gazed at their menu for a hot minute ultimately deciding on huevos rancheros. Before ordering we noticed their specials of the day and found Steak Rancheros instead. For them not being an actual Mexican restaurant, their dish was pretty spot on! Better than what I've experienced at these so called taquerias. Even though the sauces they used were probably Herdez Chipotle Salsa Cremosa and Avocado Cilantro, the way it was presented and tasted was delicious.

Yelp
A casual breakfast place in North Shore. When you walk into the place, you order first, then find your own seating inside or outside. There's plenty of seating. We went mid morning on a weekend so it was pretty busy. There were 10 of us and we waited for our food about 30 min. When we ordered they did say it would be about 40-45 min so that was great! They people are very nice and helpful there. The food was worth the wait. Big servings and delicious! We will definitely go back!
google avatar

Yelp
The French toast was delectable. My friend's Belgian waffles were crispy and light! Butter& syrupy sugar...Yummmm! The waitresses are so very friendly and service oriented!

Izabella D.

Yelp
I'm not gonna lie it's mid. My food was good but it wasn't anything to boast about and kind of under seasoned every time. Potatoes were way over seasoned the few times I've been there, but the actual food not so much. They give u a number like they are going to bring u your food but you still have to go walk up and get it, everything is served on paper plates with actual silverware too which just is confusing. Anyway do what u will with this xoxo

Yelp
When any of my family visit from the mainland they ALL want to hit this friendly joint for brunch a couple of times. What's not to love? Delicious food, daily specials, good drip coffee, superior service, a pleasant island atmosphere, and AMPLE PARKING right in Haleiwa. If they have anything "benedict" when you visit, try it, their hollendaise sauce is on point. Ditto anything with green sauce like their huevos rancheros.

Aloha K.

Yelp
I love cafe Haleiwa! Everything about this cafe is absolutely wonderful! The girls are so amazing and they are absolutely so welcoming! Audrey and Kamalei are so wonderful! They have many seating options inside and outside and the service is quick! The menu is extensive and they are always changing up the specials, the restaurant has many different colors and paintings and there is always something to look at! The prices are great and affordable and the food is even better! Definitely stop by if you can!!

Yelp
Came across this place while making the drive around Oahu. Nice dive breakfast spot. Food was good, felt very homemade. Friendly staff.

James C.

Yelp
Nice little cafe. My Dr. would approve of all the seafood options for breakfast vs pork. Girls are always friendly here, service is always a perfectly acceptable pace. Will frequent as long as I am on the island.
google avatar

Marisabel A.

Yelp
We have been coming here for years and they never miss ... the service is always great and even though it's a small cafe somehow the wait is never long . We take our friends here to get the pancakes and waffles every time we have visitors . The parking is in the back which is great because that's a high traffic area . I love coconut on my pancakes and most places don't have them . Love this spot !
google avatar

Yvette A.

Yelp
We decided to give this location a shot as we typically avoid it cause it's always so busy.. We ordered a variety of dishes and service was on point!!! My chicken was very dry but still good. The steak was also over cooked and a bit tough.. Prices are what is to be expected in Hawaii. Service was really great!!!! Really made our dining our experience amazing. For a group gathering or special night I would definitely go back.

Yelp
Great little place for breakfast on the North Shore. I was given this place as a recommendation because my daughter wanted waffles and she was definitely happy with the choice. Everyone was very friendly and helpful!! Get there early because by 8:30am the line to order was out the door!
google avatar

Dave D.

Yelp
Best omelette and pancakes on the island. You have to get them. The coffee is hot the service is great and the island music just confirms the vibe. This is a don't miss place.
google avatar

Yelp
Great good for a good price! It's a nice little location on the North Shore with a small but yummy menu. Good and friendly service.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped here for quick lunch. Got veggie sandwich g and side of house fries . Sandwich was decent portion with all fresh ingredients. House fries were pretty good . Service was excellent . They do have parking on the back abd restrooms. Excellent spot to grab quick lunch on the way to north shore .

William F.

Yelp
Great location for breakfast if you are on the North Sore. Lots of great options! Very fast service. Lots of parking fairly close.

Yelp
Last time we were here was right before covid. It definitely has changed, and not for the better, unfortunately. You now order at the counter and they bring out your food. Menu has changed as well, they no longer have the amazing coconut syrup. Food was still pretty decent and you can't beat the price for breakfast in Hawaii. I wouldn't drive out of the way, but if you're in North shore it's a better option than the McDonald's across the street.

Oly L.

Yelp
Ive been here twice now. I love the ambiance of the restaurant; it reminds me of a restaurant we vacationed at in St. Croix, USVI. First time I ordered the chicken chili verde breakfast burrito which came with a side; I chose fresh pineapple. The burrito was delicious, and the pineapple so fresh and sweet! Second time we visited, I ordered the avocado sandwich. While it was light (which I wanted), it was bland. No seasoning or flavor. Lesson learned. My husband ordered breakfast in a barrel, and loved it! Which says a lot bc he's super picky. Service was great, no complaints!
google avatar

Steven K.

Yelp
Went there for lunch on a Sunday morning, there was parking, we didnt have to wait for a seat. There was 4 of us. It seemed to take a long time to get our food, which was delicious. The porta-potty was the worst i have ever seen. ever. Overall, the food was really good.

Wayne C.

Yelp
Amazing food best on north shore for breakfast the chicken wrap and steak and eggs with the visit
google avatar

Mimi L.

Yelp
Perfect location. Ample parking. Sweet little local spot. Friendly staff....and chickens. :--) The food was fresh. Farmers market quality lettuce tomato and avocado on the Sammie's. This is the perfect lunch spot. We happened to be there during the Malama market so we enjoyed love music going on next door. All of this said, I'd say it's more of a breakfast spot with loads of morning options but our lunch was still really yummy.

Yelp
I miss the old Cafe Haleiwa - the clanking of dishes, a packed restaurant, eating on real plates, getting served. Now you walk-in, order food, put a number on your table. Then they bring you food in to go containers with plastic forks. I asked for water - I was told to grab some from a water dispenser pretty far from my table. The cups are also tiny. So I walked back and forth quite a few times during my meal. This might as well be a takeout place. Why do we even still tip the 20%? There is NO service. They just drop off your food, that's it. The only saving grace is the food... which is the same. Everything else is different. There used to even be a full espresso bar. The last two times I've been here they have only had iced coffee or hot coffee. I was raised on the North Shore and have been coming here for years.

Sam S.

Yelp
Food is so good! Do yourself a favor and get the Mahi eggs Benedict. Good vibes and better food
google avatar

Tiara A.

Yelp
I've been taking my kids here for years! Love this please very homey to us. Not sure if there are different owners but miss the table service. You order and pay inside, get a order number and pick up your food. I usually take my kids on the weekend because they serve Eggs Benedict but on this day they unfortunately ran out. I ended up order the Steak Rancheros which was so good! All the food was hot and really tasty. Staff are always really nice. Will be here again :)

Yvonne S.

Yelp
This place was just ok. Our usual place in Haleiwa closed so we decided to give this a try. As other reviewers pointed out this is a country style resteraunt and not very clean. I had a chicken sandwich and my husband had breakfast. We probably won't be coming back.

Kathryn E.

Yelp
Best breakfast on the island or anywhere! The pancakes are made from Hawaiian flour that is beyond anything in any other of the states, and the eggs had to have been from the happiest chickens on the planet. Cafe Haleiwa is family owned, and the pride they take in serving only the best makes every meal amazing! The ambiance is as authentic as it gets. Loved the food, and loved the people and the setting.
google avatar

Yelp
Atmosphere is easy going and fun. Food is great, I had the French toast it was excellent, the iced latte was perfect.

Yelp
Stopped by this restaurant on our way to somewhere to start the day and I must admit I wasn't super impressed with the menu. Ordered the Steak and Eggs which comes with NY strip steak, two eggs, and choice of home fries, rice, or beans and toast or tortilla. I thought the options for sides were definitely interesting and settled on the beans and tortilla. There was a lot of potential, but the execution just wasn't that great. It didn't look very appetizing and the taste of the food definitely matched the looks of it. The service was also mediocre, I mean I wasn't expecting too much from this sort of diner-esque spot but I still felt largely unattended to. I also didn't like that I had to basically go to an outhouse to use the restroom...an indoor restroom as one would expect to be attached to the rest of the building or off the main dining room would have been much appreciated. Overall, everything was a little below average, but I still felt that maybe 2.5 stars would be a bit too harsh so, 3 stars it is.

Graceann W.

Yelp
Food was amazing! They were very informed about their menu and which items were and were not safe for me to consume (I have 3 food allergies; Dairy class 3, Egg class 1 and Gluten class 1). They did their absolute best to accommodate! The atmosphere was positive and light!
google avatar

Kathy T.

Yelp
Very nice and cozy place! They are currently open for take out and dine in. Although the restaurant itself is relatively small, there is tables outside, as well as lots of free parking in the back. They serve breakfast and lunch (all day) and their food ranges from country style breakfasts to burgers and steak. I tried their country style breakfast, where I had 2 pancakes, and a choice of 2 types of eggs and 2 types of meats. For each plate, you have to stick to the same type of egg and meat. The amount was satisfying for $10.95. They also served different types of omelets for $11.95 with potato wedges. Overall, it's such a great place to play tourist and have a nice breakfast at the beach.

Yelp
We stopped for breakfast at this little cafe on the north shore. It's a colorful little building on the Main Street. There is plenty of parking behind the building. We were seated quickly. The dining room was filled with both locals and tourists. Orders were taken quickly and food came out quickly. Our server was nice and efficient. Favorite foods at our table were the Hawaiian bread French toast. Two of us ordered the country breakfast and enjoyed their food. Bacon and eggs were good. I had the mahi mahi with grilled veggies and home fries ($14). The fish was dry and veggies had no seasoning. I still appreciated having a healthy option. The restroom was rustic with a traffic cone in front of the sink. I can't imagine it was up to code.

Yelp
Came here for brunch on a Saturday. Located in Haleiwa across the street from McDonalds. Parking is located behind the restaurant in a big gravel lot with ample space. You order at the cashier receive a number and have a seat at any open table. There's plenty of tables inside and outside. There's also a small mini free library with books available to read while you eat it wait for your order. We had the Country breakfast with bacon, avocado and cream cheese toast, a side of home fries, and two cold brew coffees. Pancakes were nice and fluffy. Potatoes bacon and eggs were standard. The avocado cream cheese toast was yummy but wish the toast was a little more crispy to contrast the soft cream cheese and avocado. Coffees were pretty standard, pretty good but not great. It can be hard to find local kind of breakfast spots in Haleiwa that are still pretty reasonable. That being said I thought that most of their pricing was extremely reasonable.

Yelp
Came here to try it out for breakfast but line was REDICULOUS! Didn't have enough time as we had already bought tickets to watch a movie so, decided to get whatever was already made. We got govinda orange juices and half a papaya. Govinda orange juice: it has a little pulp in which I like but the flavor was a bit tart and tasted like oranges were a bit over ripe which made it taste aged?! Papaya was a bit mushy and over ripe as to what I'm used to. I couldn't finish it. Storefront was really busy which made me want to come back and try. Worker interaction was nice. They friendly once you wave them off for help. Reason for two star is parking is scarce and outdoor dining area was a bit run down. So I think it's better to eat inside

Jessica T.

Yelp
Mmmm, five stars for consistency! Consistent, good, filling food! Good service, sometimes a little wait because THEY DONT RUSH THEIR FOOD.. prices are standard.. just a good overall breakfast/lunch joint. I've had everything from the omelette a to the waffle to the biscuits and gravy (yummy!) but I've been ordering the steak and eggs, with potatoes and sourdough and my GOSH.. what a meal!! I've found my favorite and go there at least twice a week! Like I mentioned above, consistency is what earns a 5 star from me, no matter the service or how long it takes.. people have their off days but if your food is ALWAYS good, you've got a customer from me for LIFE! Keep killing it Cafe Haleiwa!! Side note: they are always super friendly and service is always on point, just noting that I don't judge an establishment on a one time experience..
google avatar

Miriam C.

Yelp
Convenient free parking lot behind restaurant while eating. Waffle mixture was rather dense, very similar to the taste of the pancake...
google avatar

Paul M.

Yelp
Used to be a good place with normal table service. Now it's some post apocalyptic order at register if they have any left, retrieve your own plastic utensils, wait an interminable amount of time for food far below their previous standards kine of train wreck. Was last there Oct 2022. They used to have a reasonably good Huevos Rancheros though it varied. Now, forget it. Sorry ...
google avatar

Jerrid C.

Yelp
Amazing food and great atmosphere. The customer service was outstanding super friendly service.

Yelp
Great service, delicious food, & super cute atmosphere The Sweet Bread French Toast was one of the best I've tasted!

Yelp
Yes yes yes! I love Cafe Haleiwa, the staff is always so wonderful. No matter the choice, breakfast or lunch, it always hits the spot. (5/5) I recommend trying the veggie sandwich, even if vegetarian meals aren't necessary your thing and you prefer meat on your plate, the sourdough bread is just too good to pass up on! Remember, their veggie melt is satisfying for any palette! You can never go wrong with their hearty omellete's or breakfast plates. They offer Govinda juices, coffee & espresso, as well as milk alternatives. (Coconut, soy and almond) So no matter if you're a meat and potatoes kinda person, a vegetarian or pescatarian, Cafe Haleiwa has choices to please everyone!
google avatar

Yelp
I tried eggs benedict with spam, because it's a Hawaiian specialty; holy cow, it's amazing. The staff was friendly, the service was quick, and the price was reasonable. I would 100% recommend.
