Café-Hotel Appenzell

⭐️Great location at the entrance of the main street. The cafe offers a nice interior setting and comfortable polstered seats. 😭That said the service was horrible. The opposite of what one would expect in such a place : high German, extremely directive, impossible to change the order even just after she tipped it on her machine. Completely unfriendly. I hope this gets noticed and updated. Not what this great place deserves.

We visited the restaurant for a quick coffee and sweet. Waitress didn't understand English well and was also a little aggressive. Coffee and sweets were just ok, not great, not terrible. On the other hand the inside of the restaurant was very beautiful.The location is also a plus because is very easy to reach (just across the parking in the central square).

We loved our stay and enjoyed eating at the restaurant, too. Beautiful town to watch around in.

We experienced the most ridiculous and inappropriate hospitality at this restaurant. They charge an additional 28 CHF if you wanna share your meal that cost 36 CHF!!! Scamming tourists without any shame! Unbelievable

It was a nice weekend visit of Appenzell. The hotel is located on the main square of the city. We had a good room with a cot provided for free. Comfy beds, bath, wardrobe, a couple of arm chairs and a table, free WiFi. Breakfast was fresh, tasty and with many options. We had a dinner at the hotel and were satisfied with ordered dishes. If you are with small children, you could find some books, colouring books, some toys and entertaining items. Besides restaurant, the hotel has its own bakery / cafeteria, which is open all day long. |To my taste, food in the restaurant was a bit salty.

After our 6-day stay here we have concluded that this is probably the best-run hotel we have ever stayed at. The room was very comfortable, although some less soft pillows would have been appreciated. We noted the absence of a safe in the room, but felt it was probably not a necessity in this part of Switzerland, nor in this hotel, and we left some valuables in the room during the day quite happily. Everywhere is exceptionally clean (something that many hotel chains struggle to achieve these days!), and the staff are second to none - helpful, friendly, courteous at all times. We had breakfast and dinner here each day, and the food is superb. We will almost certainly return to Appenzell at some time and will automatically book a room at this hotel. A very big thank you to Stephan, Denise, and their staff for making our holiday so enjoyable.

Loved the vibe sitting outside on the street. The staff is good but saw them a bit murmuring amongst themselves if you’re not a local. Good is good, presentation is good, a bit steep. But loved the overall experience.
