I love trying Indian food when I travel. I was hoping for a buffet but that is only at lunch. I was seated quickly but it did take a little while to get someone to take my order. Food came out promptly and was hot and good. The onion samosas were spicy. My goat Norma was yummy. I have food for tomorrow. Nice large portions. The restaurant was warm though. I couldn't wait to get out and into better AC. I would definitely return and try the buffet.

Best Indian restaurant here in Memphis, Tennessee. I try multiple Indian restaurant and this is the most one I really like. you can see the places are clean,The food is amazing taste ,the service is excellent . until now we have not tried the buffet. We always go and decide some dishes. The prices are so fine. They give you a good amount of food for what you pay .this is what catch you between the other restaurants and this one are the other serving same prices yes but not the same amount of food .we recommended this place for every single person who wanna eat Indian food .and they had (hala ) meat and chicken in the menu .

I’m so glad I found Café India during my visit to Memphis! Their weekend specialty selection is absolutely next level. I tried the Potlam Parotta and MLA Potlam Biryani, and I can honestly say they’re some of the most flavorful, satisfying dishes I’ve ever had. The Gobi 65 appetizer was crispy, spicy, and perfectly done, and the mango lassi was thick, refreshing, and not overly sweet—just right. But the real star? Their parotta—super soft, flaky, and out of this world. Every bite felt like a comfort hug from home. Honestly, I was tempted to order everything on the menu! It’s a little sad that I’m only in town for a short visit, but I’m definitely coming back if time allows—and for sure next time I’m in Memphis. Highly recommend this gem to anyone craving authentic Indian flavors with specialty weekend dishes!

Stopped by Memphis and heard they had a buffet, so I decided to give it a try. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. I also needed Wi-Fi, which they kindly provided. Totally worth the price for the quality and taste—definitely recommend!

Mixed review: The panipuri was good. As for the Chilli Paneer pizza was tasty, its tanginess gave it an Indian twist, although it didn't quite reach a the traditional pizza taste because of its messy appearance on top. Despite the small portion size, the taste was so good. You can give it a try. Having visited a few times, I highly recommend their buffet, although it's a tad pricier by a dollar or two. I love how they have cakes that remind me of Indian cool cakes with other bakery collections.

Google
I had mixed experience. The buffet food was delicious, and the ambiance was great. However, the service was a bit slower than expected. While the special biryanis of the week were a nice touch, I was disappointed with the biryani from the ala carte menu, which was hit or miss. On the other hand, the onion uthappa and gobi machurian were both tasty options. Overall, good experience, but some consistency issues with the biryani.

We’ve visited this restaurant three times, and each experience has been outstanding. Every time, the food was absolutely amazing, and the restaurant owner was incredibly welcoming, making our visits even more enjoyable. The food quality, taste, and even the Robot Service Server were all impressive. One of the highlights is that you can customize your dishes according to your preferences, which made the experience even more special. We tried a variety of their best dishes, including the dinner buffet, and everything was superb. The food is flavorful and prepared with great care, which truly shines through in every bite. I’ve uploaded photos of most of the dishes with comments, showcasing the fantastic spread. If you’re looking to taste authentic Indian flavors, this is the place to go. It’s definitely on my list of top restaurant recommendations, especially if you're in the area.

Google
I meant to post a photo of the food with this review but it smelled so good I completely forgot! This is my second time getting take out from India Cafe and both experiences have been amazing! Their butter chicken is very creamy with a good amount of heat and loads of flavor. The vegetable samosas were very crisp and the sauces were great! If you like Indian food it is definitely would a try

Yelp
I've really come around to value what Cafe India does. This establishment will always be a favorite for expanding my horizons. The food continues to be as good as that first bite, and the service has stayed consistently good. Inside they're making changes to their kitchen and dining area, but it's coming along nicely. The food is still excellent with various delicious options. Absolutely a 5/5.

Yelp
Been craving some Indian food and a sweet young man from India recommended this spot. We had so many lovely flavors: pani poori, dosa, saag paneer, chicken tikka and more. Next time I'm going for idly and malai kofta. Kia was so kind and helpful, she adds light to the room, plus is very attentive. Also, we saw about 5 people come in for their beautifully decorated custom cakes. Gorgeous! If you ever need a cake, I'd look into their custom ones.

Yelp
We have been looking for a new Indian place for awhile now, but have disappointed until we found Cafe India. The dining room is bright and clean ( maybe a tad too bright), and the service was friendly and timely. A lot of the food gets delivered by a robot. As soon as we were seated, we noticed that each table has its own water pitcher and glasses. This is a genius idea! The menu is very diverse, as well. I love a good curry, and this place does it well. In particular, we loved the Manchurian baby corn, and my husband is a huge fan of the Chicken lollipops. Don't miss it! We can't wait to return for their daily lunch buffet.

Yelp
Absolutely love everything about this restaurant. I normally go when they have the buffet option. Very clean and always fun. They have a variety of dishes to choose from. The staff members are always kind and helpful. Definitely my favorite Indian spot!

Yelp
Amazing little gem in the Southwind area! The service was great very kind and friendly. The establishment is clean, bright, and welcoming. The food!!! 10/10! Five stars! The meat is so tender and delicious! They have a buffet for 14.99, and it was a delightful experience. The food is so fresh! The spices and aromatic flavors WO

Yelp
Ordered paneer masala (a bit sweeter than I was expecting), garlic naan, veg samosas, onion pakoda (very large portion), chicken noodles (favorite) This was my first time having indo-chinese from a restaurant, I loved it so much. I am so glad they are in the area now :) I would like to go back to experience the buffet A robot delivered our food for us which I had never experienced before. It was very cute

Yelp
I definitely recommend this place. The food was delicious. I really enjoyed it. You got to like Indian food and I love Indian food. This was all good quality. Hot food. The service was awesome for this to be a family-owned business. They helped me with what I would like to eat, and help me order and kept my water full. Hey made sure if I needed any dessert or anything I wanted they were there for me. And the ambience can be romantic. You come at the right time of the day is quiet. It's peaceful. You and your lady can sit there and have some wine they do look like a full bar to me. It's good I can't beat this place. The price is up okay for where they are in Niagara Falls.

Yelp
I ventured over to try this Indian restaurant's lunch buffet on a Sunday. We arrived at 11:00 am, but had to wait about twenty minutes before they were finished setting up their buffet. The butter chicken was my favorite. We liked the variety. We also ended up buying some coconut cookies from the bakery. This is a gastronomical gem for southeastern Memphis!

Yelp
Checked out the buffet at Café India Friday with the friend. The food on the buffet was a variety of Indian dishes. The best dish on the buffet was the butter chicken. The chicken was very tender and melted in our mouth. The sauce was very tasty and delicious. I also had some lentil soup and basmati rice with other different sauces, and, perhaps tandoori chicken. There was some Goat and vegetable Biryani. There were many other dishes but I was not sure of the names. Everything we tried was seasoned very well and tasted wonderful. The buffet was quite affordable at approximately 14:00 plus tax. It is served at lunch time from 11:00 to 2:00ish. The service was top notch. The servers checked on us frequently and filked our water glasses. The decor was very nice with a wall of famous people and their quotes. There is parking in the large lot as it share with many other businesses in the same strip mall. I may come back. The food was quite spicy so I can only handle a mild amount. May try some other lunch items offered instead of the buffet. We had a very good lunch.

Yelp
Found this place on a whim and noticed a lot of people come for the buffet. I will definitely do that next time. Seems like a great place to bring your family as they have a lot of seating and services is pretty quick. Someone greets you as so as you walk in. I ordered butter chicken to go, which tasted delicious. They ask you what spice level you want. I got mild, and it was exactly what I was thinking, basically no spice. After having the chicken I regret not getting the garlic Naan (that seem like a fav). Ambiance is pretty nice, not too loud, and most seats are booths, so you have your own table. I put a 4/5 because I did not get the full experience ordering take out. I will have to come for the buffet and update the review.

Yelp
My friend recommended this place for lunch and I am glad we came. The venue is behind the Buffalo Wild Wings and hard to spot from the street. Plenty of parking. They have a lunch buffet that looks small but has everything you need. I cannot remember the name of the items but I can tell you that there are three sections. The first section is the veggie section and it tastes great. The next section is the hot bar and has meat. Most if not all meat options are chicken. The last section is desert and salad. The service was a little slow on drinks but the food tasted great. I want to come back.

Yelp
MUST BE AUTHENTIC -the big sign says so! Okay, I'm no authority on Indian food & I normally stay clear of buffets -but this place tastes so good to me! All the typical Indian favorites & lots of SPICY items. GOOD: +Friendly people +Clean +Hot food kept coming out +Very seasoned. Some spicy choices -YUM! +Good Naan -including butter & garlic +Lots of veggie options +Loved the Carrot Halwa -sweet dish -must try! +Tandoori Chicken was surprisingly spicy (compared to other restaurants) NOT AS GOOD: -Buffet items only labeled with dish names (Spicy dishes not labeled) -Buffet deserts were ... well, buffet desserts -Not my favorite rice pudding. Theirs is Yogurt Rice. Not sweet -but good for cooling off any spiciness Notes: * Lunch Buffet is $17/person. I feel it's a very fair price. * After visiting, I'm LAUGHING OUT LOUD at their website! Where is this 5-star restaurant in all the photos? Website looks like it's a a fancy "jackets required" establishment -not the buffet on Hacks Cross. LOL! Food was good! That's what matters!

Yelp
A much needed addition to Memphis's Indian food scene. Cafe India- an established eatery from Nashville - made its way to Memphis in style. We were there on the opening weekend and you could feel the enthusiasm and energy in the service (including the robo server assisting the human servers). Food rating: 1. Medu vada- 4.5/5. Top notch medu vada, sambhar, and chutneys. Very light and fluffy vadas paired with delicious sambhar. 2. Naans- 5/5. Both butter and chili garlic naans were steaming hot, soft, and full of flavor. 3. Malai kofta- 4.5/5. Koftas were soft with a distinct methi malai flavored gravy. 4. Chai- 3.5/5. Chai was decent, a bit on the creamier side. Refreshing as always. I'll keep coming back to see how the service and food quality settles in after the opening weeks. Hopefully they hold on to their quality.

Yelp
I've been on the hunt for an amazing Indian buffet in Memphis and have found the spot. Cafe India has an amazing buffet with delicious/authentic Indian food. I've been twice so far and the service was amazing, along with the food being fresh! Also the restaurant has a comfortable/family-like ambiance. Highly recommend!

Sharon P.

Yelp
The food is so good when it super spicy or very mild. The service is very good. This place is great.

Yelp
22Jun25 7:20PM (Sunday) ordered to go - two ghee and one masala dosas. Dosas are oky but the SAMABR was already spoiled - bad taste and smell. Not sure why in the world the 'Skilled Chef" as the web site says..think when a spoiled Sambar heats its gets OK!..its still BAD dear Chef. So if you going on late evening to order..RECONSIDER..as they will serve the left overs (very old) just heated up...Also the Chutney was not good either...So to protect our health..end up just had Dosas without any Sambar or Chutney...Busy times during lunch may be good as I had buffet earlier...Use some Common Sense..if you can't give to your family..then its already BAD!.

Yelp
Stopped by after buffet hours . This gave me a chance to try a few things from the menu. I got the spinach pakora and the egg kothu parota. Both were very good. Service was excellent, as usual. I love the decor. I got some pastries on the way out. They have both sweet and savory pastries and baked goods. Definitely try some.
google avatar

Jason K.

Yelp
Great food! Ambiance could be improved as one of the lights was flickering constantly and the place gets very noisy due to the high ceiling and hard flooring. Staff was very nice, and the buffet was well-stocked and flavorful. Will be back!

Yelp
It's definitely a popular spot but I'm wondering if we are eating the same food. The worst experience as one dish at a time comes out. Had to order rice separate from chicken as mine doesn't automatically come with rice. Tandoori chicken came first. 10 minutes later chicken vindaloo with included rice comes. Another 5 minutes then naan, after we have to go boxes and 30+ minutes from received chicken my rice finally arrives. My food was over seasoned and bitter tasting. Service wasn't good, wasn't checked on by our server the entire meal, had to hunt down knives & to go boxes. Cute robot delivery but filthy looking. It was a ridiculous experience and I just left my food there. I don't even want the leftovers. Also when we arrived we asked if we could sit at a table instead of a booth. Told only bigger parties can sit there. We were party of 3 asking for a 4 top. Then later we see a different party of 3 being seated where we originally asked for. Also chai was almost completely tasteless opposite of expected, milk & hot water basically. Weird.

Yelp
After the pandemic happened, it seemed like all the wonderful Indian buffets we had in Memphis disappeared forever. Even with things back to normal, it seems they all prefer the new status quo of charging outrageous prices for a la carte or to go. And just when I was about to give up on ever having another Indian buffets in this city, Cafe India appears. For only $18 per adult, you get to try from a pretty generous selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian entrees, including staples like Paneer Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken. I was able to choose between about 6 veg and 6-7 non-veg plates, plus an assortment of desserts, salad and various other items. Flavors were great, better than your standard buffet quality I would say. Considering any a la carte item in every single nearby Indian restaurant (or Uber) will set you back $18-$25, the value here is unbeatable. Service wise, it was good. I came in around 1 pm on a Wednesday and it was packed. After a short wait, I was seated and instructed to go ahead and get my plate. Attention was pretty spot on when I asked for anything. I did not go to the to go area, but from afar it looked like the had some pretty good looking cakes, dosas and other treats. The location is clean and pretty, with indian figures and quotes lining the walls. Parking is plentiful and the area is good. Definitely a must try!

Yelp
I come to this place at least once a week and I've done so for at least a year now. Excellent food. Really polite and courteous staff. I love it. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Food is so delicious and many vegetarian options. Try the lunch buffet if you like variety and the weekend buffet is amazing! Best Indian food on Hacks Cross!

Yelp
OMG IT'S SO GOOD it's so fresh they've got a great thing going not sure if many people know about this place outs never crowded. The only negative comment I have is that the customer service could be more welcoming and friendly but I'll take the attitude with food this good lol I'm still coming back

Yelp
Cafe India has firmly secured its place as one of my top Indian restaurants in the Memphis, Germantown, and Collierville area, and for several compelling reasons. Firstly, it delivers an unmatched culinary journey marked by exceptional flavors and most of all consistency with every visit. Secondly, the attentive and welcoming staff ensures you're promptly taken care of upon arrival. Thirdly, cleanliness is not overlooked, and Cafe India stands out for maintaining a clean environment, a stark contrast to the less appealing conditions found in other Indian establishments I've been to. The swift service ensures your food arrives promptly, consistently fresh, and bursting with flavor, particularly their awesome biryanis, tandoori chicken, butter chicken, naan's etc., Despite competitive pricing, it's their exceptional taste, flavor, cleanliness and service that elevate them to the forefront. Moreover, Cafe India distinguishes itself, in my opinion, as the sole Indian restaurant in the area to invest in a thoughtfully designed and inviting interior, adding to the overall dining experience. I wholeheartedly recommend giving them a try; you won't be disappointed!

Bobby G.

Yelp
Wow, I am very impressed! No double one the best Indian food that I ever had. Came here for lunch and dinner. This place truly bought back some the memories from my home country. Great good selection and awesome service. Friendly restaurant staff and very welcoming. Restaurant is supper clean. Highly recommended it!

Yelp
OMG!! My new favorite place in Memphis area. The pani puri sweet was excellent. Butter chicken and onion kulcha was tender and very flavorful. We will be back and will be bringing friends.

Yelp
I have eaten here two times. Both times a great experience, the food is consistently very delicious. The waiters are friendly and helpful, and I like the Indian atmosphere.

Yelp
This place was insanely delicious! The buffet was huge and really well presented. Everything we ate was great. My son is already asking to go back. The service was quick and attentive. The decor was really different and cool. It was completely full by the time we were done and I'm not surprised!

Chayce F.

Yelp
Very nice! Food was great and the best indian food in the city. Tikka misala was a hit for us

M I.

Yelp
Mediocre food pricey Waitress said if we put tip on card the owner keeps it Seemed very unprofessional

Charley O.

Yelp
Excellent food for the most part. The biryani was outstanding. Well seasoned and delicious. The tandoori chicken was well seasoned but overcooked and dry. The portion was 2 small legs. Seems overpriced for what you get. Service was pretty much non existent. We had to flag down a busperson to get napkins. We will return for the lunch buffet and for dinner when we crave Indian but will try other dishes as the other patrons seemed to really enjoy. (None of them appeared to have the tandoori chicken)

Bus B.

Yelp
I tried this awesome new Indian restaurant yesterday for the first time yesterday (Sunday) and it was outstanding. The first clue was that there was a bit of a wait which I expected for a new place, but it was well worth the wait. Very nice and tasty expansive lunch buffet with a good assortment of both vegetarian and meat options. The ambiance was well appointed and clean. All those Memphis area Indian restaurants that abandoned the lunch buffets are put on notice with this gem. This is a game changer for Memphis. I'll definitely be back and put the word out. To the hard working staff and owners, keep on doing what you're doing and you will do well.

Cody W.

Yelp
DELICIOUS food, and great service, and ambiance was nice! The fact that you have to have 85 characters to leave a review is crazy, but yea! Great food!

Yelp
I loved the food here! To start, I had a masala chai which is in the top blends I've tried around the city. It's the kind that makes you slow down and close your eyes, letting the day settle. It's good! You'll love it. The spicy guntur podi dosa and nicely balanced sambar I had were expertly crafted harmonizing multiple flavors. The gentlemen that served me were attentive and asked several times if things were good and would I like to add anything else. After my dosa and chai, though, I already knew I wanted that cake up front. The bakery makes such tasty goodies You might even visit occasionally just to pick up something from the bakery on your way home! And before I forget, this place has one of those cute robots that brings your food . Of course I'm going to be a sucker for a cute cat face. One more thing I love about this place is that it supports Saint Jude! I love this place when I go out for Indian food and highly recommend you try it.

Carolyn R.

Yelp
Get rid of the roaches. Food was delicious. Service was excellent. But when I went to buy dessert to take home roaches were in the glass fridge.

Laurel G.

Yelp
My first time eating at Cafe India -- but not my last. You are greeted with the distinctive aroma of Indian spices. The decor is spartan, nothing like the pre-fab website, but don't let that put you off. I applauded in my heart at the posters, with quotes about food and music and the lived experience. They had Indian-themed (Desi) YouTube on, which added to the atmosphere. I ordered the buffet for lunch. It was varied in spice level and ingredients. They offered a wonderful clear soup with a medium heat. There were meat dishes and veg dishes, naan, and some salad and dessert selections. All together, the buffet was more than ample. It's even more extensive on the weekends. My daughter ordered goat curry and garlic naan. The goat was amazingly tender, and the heat was surprising but not alarming. She said the garlic naan was the best she'd ever eaten. Her lunch was delivered by a robot server; however, the order was taken and the bill was delivered in person, as was the periodic check to make sure we were not in need of anything. If you're looking for a quiet, dimly lit romantic spot, get your food to go and eat at home. But do get your food here! You will not regret it.

melissa b.

Yelp
Amazing food. We are so happy to have a delicious Indian buffet close. Definitely worth the price!

Gregory L.

Yelp
Well, they have a serving robot. I found the buffet strong on vegetables and weak on meats. The dishes were pretty light on spices. I will try it again.

Peggy R.

Yelp
Best Indian food in Memphis. Great variety that I haven't seen at other places. Get the buffet. Love that mango refresher drink and chai are included. And they leave a pitcher of water at your table.

Bruce W.

Yelp
Excellent addition to the local Indian restaurant options. I've twice visited the Friday lunch buffet and have been very satisfied. They offer the largest Indian buffet in the area. The food is delicious and items seem to be replenished as soon as they run low. The staff is helpful, pleasant and available for help/recommendations. One of my new favorite venues. I highly recommend it.

P H.

Yelp
I just had the lunch buffet with a friend and we both agree that it was easily the best Indian food we have ever had in Memphis. We have eaten for decades at all the different places around town and this place truly stands out above all others. They have both a vegetarian and an omnivore buffet offering along with much more than just the typical mint and tamarind chutneys. We got there early and the buffets were really works of art to behold. There was no way possible to try everything and this is coming from someone who can eat a LOT! I cannot say enough positive things about Cafe India! I am so impressed and happy they have arrived on the seen.

Errol H.

Yelp
I love Indian food but enjoy it the most when I can do so at a buffet. Sadly all of the Indian restaurants in the area stop offering buffets during the pandemic and never restarted. Until Cafe India opened a few weeks ago. I am in love again. I went for my first visit yesterday and the food and selection were amazing. The setting was beautiful, bright and clean. Would highly recommend a visit.

David W.

Yelp
Wonderful buffet, our group enjoyed the variety of foods and desserts. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Ricardo C.

Yelp
Great food, very authentic. They have a low score (4.3) on Uber for some reason but when it comes down to it they have the best Indian food in Memphis

Yelp
Food is excellent. Service is friendly and helpful. Many of the dishes are spicy for American palates but several are not, such as butter chicken and paneer masala. The saag with chicken was quite good.
