Hey, Cafe Kalawe is the real deal! It has great fun vibes, good food, and lots of choices. I recommend viewing the menu before you go or else you can have a hard time making decisions. Consider going with a group if you can because then you can taste (hopefully) several dishes for your next visit. Also if you can, go on a weekend morning to enjoy the Hawaiian entertainment. I went with my church group on Sunday and we had made a reservation. A good decision because it was packed. But everyone was so friendly from the staff to other clients that it was a welcoming atmosphere. And the food was delicious. On my first visit to breakfast places, I usually order fried rice with eggs over easy. That's a test for me and here it is a 4 out of five. I've had better fried rice but then everyone has different tastes. Thanks to my friends, I got to try loco moco (flavorful gravy) and huge omelettes with homemade corned beef hash (both yummy), shoyu chicken on fried saimin, (yummy), and really good French fries! I will have to return to try the sweet entrees like pancakes and French toast- - next time, since we all want to go back. Do check the location before you go because it is a block off the main road (Kam Highway) so you know where to turn On John Henry Road. Plenty parking in back. PS: another thing I like is that English Muffins can be chosen instead of toast, no extra charge.
It is family run, has a nice gift shop.
