Google
Great cafe in the financial district of Frankfurt (I found the nice part of Frankfurt!). They made me what I in America call a German Pancake with lemon and powdered sugar even though I don't think it was exactly on the menu. Great coffee with a little Baileys in it. Thank you, I will be happy to visit again if I'm in town again.

Google
Great atmosphere to enjoy a traditional German brunch/breakfast. Tasty uncomplicated yet with a nice twist breakfast platters. Good quality tea and fresh-pressed juices. Good portion of bread, although I’d like a bit more, I’m really a bread eater. Totally recommend!

Google
A very big thank you to the entire staff and to Ms. Sopho for such wonderful hospitality and reception. We enjoyed the most delicious coffee and desserts. We will visit this place often! 😍

This cafe seems very popular to local customers. They serve mainly breakfast and cakes. This is very close to Goethe House and not a bad idea to have lunch or afternoon tea after visit Goethe. We order two breakfast Fruit and Salmon. It takes a while after order taken. This is also pet friendly restaurant and you can find many pet lovers come for breakfast n lunch. Food is great with big portion.

Google
Awesome cafe. Came here for coffee and breakfast. It's a little pricy, but high quality. Service is great, and the coffee is amazing.

Google
The restaurant was overcrowded, leading to subpar service. Despite the appealing presentation in photos, the food lacked flavor. Overall, the brunch didn't justify its price tag. The Brunch plate was disappointingly basic, with an unpeeled avocado as its centerpiece. While the rice bowl offered better value, it still failed to impress my palate.

Lovely cafe (any time of day) ideally located for a break from the city centre. Usually stop here for the varied menu and consistent food and service. Always happy to return. Only downside is that it sometimes is difficult to get a table for a Saturday brunch… would have loved my own dedicated table😉

We had a very pleasant breakfast here. The staff were attentive and kind, prices were reasonable and the food was great. Many vegetarian / vegan options & a nice ambience in general

Yelp
This place is well worth you learning some German ordering phrases so you blend in perfectly with the locals. This place in the morning seems to fill up fast with reservations, so we made sure we arrived a half hour after it opened. You come in, and basically seat yourself if you can find a table that is open. Menus should already be on the table, but ask if you need them. Again, learn some German and ask if the waiter or waitress can speak English. We were lucky that our waiter did speak English well enough to order. They do have English menus, but thanks to Google Translate, we ordered from the German one. Since I knew how to speak in German, I ordered for my husband an omelette with cheese and tomatoes, and I decided to try their homemade pancakes, which was actually a crepe with their "buffet" jam. The buffet was literally a shelf along the wall with all different kinds of homemade and store brand jams. Each was more spectacular than the next! Excellent choice for something different on the menu. My hubby's omelette was super yummy and flavorful. The service was not rushed in any way, and the vibe here is very relaxed and laid back. We could tell people were truly enjoying themselves and not rushing to go run off to do something else. If you don't have time to kill, this might not be your place. Great food; great location; great for us!

Yelp
We had a large party but made reservations ahead of time. Glad we did because the place was crowded. Once we got our food and drinks we enjoyed an awesome dinner full of color and flavor. The food itself was decent, colorful and flavorful enough, but the real star of the show was the awkward seating arrangement. Cramming a large group (8) into a space clearly designed for smaller parties wasn't exactly fun. Think elbows bumping, awkward conversations, and feeling like sardines (again!). The staff did their best, pushing tables together and hustling to accommodate us, but it wasn't enough to overcome the inherent limitations of the restaurant layout. While the food was passable, the overall experience left us feeling a bit uncomfortable and disappointed.

Yelp

Valerie A.

Yelp
The food was fresh and delicious. My husband and I love German food, and this was authentic. I enjoyed the banana, curd and coffee, while my husband had eggs and toast with orange juice. Everything was just perfect.

Bojan P.

Yelp
Service: 2 stars, took them almost an hour to serve me. They were working a lot, running around, but it is clear they are understaffed. Food: 4.5 stars Got the breakfast special: it was good, the cream cheese was especially delicious. The bread: some were really good, others were ok.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING! The real deal. I was stunned by how great it was. The food is amazing. you have to try the caved salmon even if you get something else. I got apple pancakes and fruit bowl also, all were to die for! Cash Only and I didnt know so they literally let me go to an ATM and trusted that I'd come back so I left them a 100% tip and they were happy. It is amazing food, like I was floored. and their jam selection is amazing as well.

Kent B.

Yelp
We had an amazing experience. The staff was friendly, offered the English menu as they could tell we were a little lost with out photo translation app and we enjoyed everything we tried. Cash only so be prepared.

Tiffany D.

Yelp
Slow service and a bit offish when it came to ordering, getting our food out a timely manner and asking for the bill. Young staff and understaffed for the most part. I found it delightful on my new found adoration, rosebud jam! I used it for the bread that was provided with my soup! Their sausage chowder soup, hit the spot for brunch. Latte is on point. Just poor service, that's all.

Yelp
This is a great place to grab breakfast and relax on a Sunday morning. The locals seem to really love this place. But as a tourist, I was not aware how strict the store is about their schedule. We accidentally walked in 15 minutes earlier and got the death stare with an unfriendly tone. But given the hundreds positive review we seen, we decide to cut it some slack. As soon as the service start, they changed their tone. The portion is at a decent size that is just right for a Sunday breakfast. It was hearty and healthy. We would definitely come back here if we're in Frankfurt again, but just be sure not to walk in on them 15 minutes before they are open, lol.

Morgan W.

Yelp
Yay for English menus! Tucked away on a quiet and adorable street, this cafe was a fantastic option for brunch. I ordered two pancakes, one vanilla and brown sugar and the other with bacon and potatoes. We silly Americans assumed the bacon and potatoes would come on the side but they did come *in* the pancake. Of course this was just fine, just something to note! The food was fantastic and the prices were extremely reasonable. Loved the location too.

Hansel B.

Yelp
Great breakfast spot. They do the basics pretty well here, eggs, pancakes and various fresh juices. I made my own omelet with tons of veggies, tasted great! The place can get pretty packed on weekends, but the service is quick. They have outdoor seating, but those fill up pretty quickly. There is an english menu available if you ask for it. Only cash accepted, the nearest atm is 1 block away.

Stephen H.

Yelp
This place had great reviews and so it was an easy decision to stop in for breakfast. I got there at opening time but it filled up quickly so I was glad for that. Once I had breakfast I started doing some writing and 3 hours later they left a lunch menu for me, though I had ordered an additional coffee during that time. Very laid back, no pressure at all on me to leave despite the place being close to full. Food was great and reasonably priced.

Keiwan J.

Yelp
Minus one star: They didn't served brunch as stated. Minus one star: It was quiet expensive regarding the dish sizes. Minus one star: They didn't offered card payment which is a no go in 2021

Hong T.

Yelp
Really nice atmosphere. Great coffee, wonderful pancakes and breakfast platters. The pancake is a must! Very soft and just the right amount of crisp. You have to ask for syrup if needed but it gives off a sweet kick to it (not too sweet like the US makes their pancakes).

Teonna J.

Yelp
This is my second time coming to the restaurant, both were for brunch, and it did not disappoint. The only reason that I didn't give 5 stars was because the service was very slow compared to the first visit but still this place is where you need to be. Great views, good food, great location and just a nice overall vibe!

David S.

Yelp
I can't say that I was particularly impressed with this place. After visiting the Goethe house I decided to grab a coffee, and this was just acros sthe road. However, it seemed as if the guy here only wanted to sell me a coffee mitnehmen (take-away). Sure, I can probably understand that the seats are only for people ordering a meal, but it wasn't as if the place was packed and there was a line heading down the road - the place was empty. Maybe I'm being a bit too picky, but then again maybe I'm not, but my impression of this place wasn't all that great. The coffee was good though.

Wei L.

Yelp
Good food. Nice service. They keep honest about the menu. They can also explain the food in English.

Sara C.

Yelp
Came to Cafe Karin with high hopes-but was quite disappointed. We ordered the Bornheim and Ost End breakfast menus. They were about 9-10 per plate. The bread was ok, not super fresh. It came with a variety of meats and cheeses that were low end quality. I would have expected a bit better for what we were paying. The spreads were ok, nothing to rave about. Overall there wasn't much given on the plate. The coffee however was quite nice. I don't think I would go back. If Im going to spend 25€ for breakfast, I expect something decent.

Bassam A.

Yelp
Very nice place for breakfast and brunch the meals very tasty and the location is good Fast serving In the weekend very crowded and you have to wait for a while to be seated

Fred J.

Yelp
Five stars for what this place presented itself as: a friendly neighborhood cafe for small and medium-sized groups of people with inviting and warm decor. The food was pretty good. I got the fig yogurt with walnuts, potato leek soup, and a scrambled egg (shared all of this - way, way, way too much for one person to finish). Also snuck in a small piece of apple crumble cheesecake. That is a must. Please do yourself a favor and try this cake. Food was excellent Service was five star with the friendliest staff. Pricing was extremely reasonable. I would put on the low end of €€

Bryan B.

Yelp
Great food, friendly service and a nice vibe....great patio as well as indoor space. The only downside is the service is dreadfully slow. You'd better have a couple hours to kill.

Eazysc19 ..

Yelp
Came here for a quick bite. Was pretty busy on a Sunday morning but we were seated quickly and given menus. The cappuccino was amazing do not get a small a Grande is the way to go. I got a simply breakfast with a croissant and peach marmalade.

Charles H.

Yelp
We came because they had an English menu, the place was packed which was a good sign! Had some German style pancake which I don't remember what it was called but had some good Rösti along with it. Very friendly staff, I would definitely recommend if you're a traveler from the US. Good vibes at this Cafe!

Ayah A.

Yelp
Friendly staff, we orderd omlete with basil cheese and tomatoes it was so good, and pancakes with cinnamon and sugar really delicious

Lauren M.

Yelp
If you're looking for a good meal to start your day, look no further. Tucked into a cozy locale in the midst the business hustle and bustle, Cafe Karin has a large menu and is English friendly. I really liked that the menu offered full meals as well as plenty of a la carte options. The drink menu in terms of coffees and juices was extensive as well--the fresh squeezed orange juice is a must! I ordered the pancake and a coffee with the jam, and my friends ordered various omelets. The servings were sizable and the dishes were very reasonably priced. None of us left hungry. The jam costs an extra .50, but you get to select all the jam, PB and nutella you want from a little condiment buffet. It was fun trying out the different flavors with each bite of the pancake. All in all, this place be jammin.

Nidhi K.

Yelp
Breakfast here was amazing. Barring the length of time our server took (in seating us, giving menus, and giving the check), my experience here was great! I ordered the farmer's veggie omelette, and it tasted garden fresh. It was embedded with potato pieces and came with a side of more veggies -- sprouts, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, and romaine lettuce. Yay for being healthy! I also ordered a Nescafé based frappé, and it was a great refresher. My friend ordered a pancake with fresh maple juice (syrup), and from what I tried, it tasted amazing! Less portion size than mine, since it's as thin as a flapjack, so just keep that in mind. Tip: If you don't understand German, ask for an English menu to avoid playing roulette with your meal. :)

Chad J.

Yelp
Excellent spot for breakfast. We don't speak German so working through the German menu was a challenge, but ended up finding a breakfast for two. It had a huge selection of fruit, cheese, cold cuts, breads, a couple soft boiled eggs, and a few other items. It was all delicious, but way too much food for only two people. Some other people walked in after us and were offered an English menu....would've made our selection easier, but also taken the mystery out of what we ordered. Tip: ask if they have an English menu. Most places do in Germany, but it is kinda fun trying to figure it out with google's help. Overall, nice breakfast spot with good food.

Louis T.

Yelp
Cozy spot for breakfast. Enjoyed my farmers omelet w/bacon potatoes onions and cheese. Also tried some of the salmon and eggs dish, very tasty. Fresh oj but slow service so don't come if u r in a hurry tho.

Triana R.

Yelp
Poor service and staff has an attitude towards Americans. Waited for 15 minutes and their was only one waiter. Waiter was very rude and not helpful. Left the place and ate somewhere else.

Wondering W.

Yelp

Taylor H.

Yelp
Good food, better prices, English menus, a very helpful staff--if you're looking for a fantastic restaurant away from the tourist traps, this is the place to go! It is just off a main thoroughfare, so you would miss it if you didn't have a map pulled up. But it's 100% worth the walk around the corner: the crepes are delicious, the fillings are fantastic, the ambiance is beautiful, and the staff was wonderful. Like I said, you can't beat the price. I would absolutely be a regular if I lived in Frankfurt!

Caroline R.

Yelp
Great find! I was visiting Frankfurt for the day and looking for a place to grab breakfast. I had read that this place had pretty good reviews and not far from my hotel room. The staff was very friendly and spoke English, to my relief. They had a menu in both English and German and were able to answer all my questions! I got the pancakes and a large latte and both were great for a very reasonable price. Recommending to my friends whoever they are in Frankfurt!

Kunny M.

Yelp
After a horrible experience at Schonhauser, was relieved to be greater with amazing food and service.

Kiara A.

Yelp
I ordered the Nordend and it came with a freshly squeezed orange juice (I may have ordered it the side I'm not sure). The meal was a great combination of fresh breads, deli meats, cheeses, an egg, and more. Although simple like many breakfasts often are, in combination everything tasted great and it was one of the most satisfying breakfasts I have ever had. 5 stars for presentation, quality, taste, atmosphere, and friendliness.

Calvin C.

Yelp
Came here for Sunday brunch and promptly sat at the bar as I was solo. The cafe is located just off of the Hauptwache bahn stop. If I wanted a table, the wait would have been an hour so I'd reco to come early. They have an English menu if you ask. I ordered the farmers omelette, a pancake and the fresh orange juice. All of the food was really good. The farmers omelette was light but with bacon and potatoes. The pancake was fluffy and light. The service was great and prompt. I'd definitely reco to come here for lunch or brunch

Henry M.

Yelp
As a first time visitor I was impressed with their food. Fast and friendly service and yes they spoke English to assist me with menu options. Would definitely recommend

Soran M.

Yelp
The Food is good and prefect but the service is bullshit service, no one coming to take the order after finishing the food you have to wait another 20 mint to get the bill

Lindsey B.

Yelp
Cash only! Food was good. The restaurant is charming. And the service was good! Next time we would like to sit outside. The bar area is nice, too!

chris t.

Yelp
The breakfast in Frankfurt was something we could really get behind being visitors from the US. Frühstücks and pastries abounded in Frankfurt, though we had some of the better items at Cafe Karin. I ordered a nice sampler Frühstück while my fiance ordered one of the egg dishes, while we both got some coffee. Everything was well prepared and very tasty. We sat outside on the patio and had a nice blanket when the chill kicked up. The service was courteous and they provided an english menu after we struggled a bit to make our selection (though having one of each was helpful for the rest of trip). If we make it to Frankfurt again we will definitely make it back to Cafe Karin.

David D.

Yelp
Very nice place ! Perfect for a brunch on Sunday morning. I had the scrambled eggs with mozzarella and tomatoes. Sunday morning chilling

HF S.

Yelp
Went a few times to this cafe (summer and winter ) and it was always a good experience Location: city center but on that relatively quiet street w multiple restaurants around Staff: efficient, welcoming and not invading Food: best are the cakes which are delicious, affordable (and I've tried many in the area) for a good slice. The cherry one is my favorite ~3eur. More expensive the cafe Barcelona (chain w cheap but not that great), less expensive than Mozart or cafe Liebfrauenberg (good cakes but you don't only feel bad just for the sugar/butter added to your body but also the bill). They also serve breakfast all day, there is peanut butter!(ok not the 100%peanut one but still) Atmosphere: cosy, busy, it feels adequate for a coffee to catch up w 1 or more friends. If you're around, better Karin than Walden

Purnajyoti B.

Yelp
Cafe Karin's omelettes with turkey and cottage cheese tasted amazing! No grease yet very flavorful German portions of hot breakfast near the Goethe house in historical Frankfurt was an oasis for wandering tourists. The buzzing restaurant staff cooked and served the food fresh while patrons basked where sun-rays broke through the Frankfurt skyline. Simplicity, presentation, and substance were there together in the food and the restaurant's atmosphere.

Al W.

Yelp
Basically was ignored for 20 minutes so decided to leave. Very unhelpful when I asked for a moment. My German is not the best but I at least tried to be polite asking for some assistance but was brushed away. For all the great reviews, the serving staff need a lesson in customer service.

Hend A.

Yelp
Love this restaurant, had to eat my breakfast daily when I was on my vocation at Frankfurt

Qype User (muddyb…)

Yelp
A friend of mine put me onto Cafe Karin and I'm eternally grateful to her. It's just downright cozy, a bit like Chaos in Darmstadt, it has that shabby look. It offers the obligatory good cup of coffee (and a wide choice to keep me coming back) and if you have achey cakey pangs, they have a nice selection. Believe it or not if I'm there in the afternoon I often have a mint tea instead of coffee (it's packed with fresh mint). Admittedly, It's not right in the center, but it's worth the stroll. You can sit outside, if you don't mind the occasional insane motor cyclist whizzing past and if you can grab a seat. The only downside is that they have stopped serving food a couple of times I've been there. There seems to be a twilight hour in the late afternoon. Other than that it's great for breakfast, dinner and lunch.

John C.

Yelp
Great place to have breakfast. Good area, nice staff and more importantly, really good food.

Michelle H.

Yelp
Pretty good. Food was fresh. Coffee amazing. Cozy location with a sidewalk patio nice for people watching. A bit expensive and cash only. They do have English menus, but this is definitely not a touristy restaurant or area.

Jackie T.

Yelp
I walked around and waited for this place to open because the reviews on trip advisor and yelp were great. My meal: 2 egg sunny side up Pancake with maple juice The little extras that came with the delicious eggs were a bonus. The meal was around €6 and was tasty, light and wonderful. They had a small table for children with books. Will come with my children next time.

Raven S.

Yelp
Killer breakfast. Fresh and filling. I would eat this every day if I could. I didn't get her name but our server, a cute black girl, was fabulous.
