f you find yourself in Innsbruck’s Old Town, you absolutely have to stop by Café Katzung. It’s located right next to the iconic Golden Roof—the location is perfect for a relaxing break after some sightseeing. My absolute favorite was their hot fruit tea 🍊. After walking around in the freezing winter air, holding a warm cup of tea and pairing it with a piece of cake was pure magic. In that moment, I felt my energy return and my soul truly comforted. I was only in the city for three days, yet I ended up coming here twice. Every time I left, I felt completely content and grateful.

Café Katzung offers decent coffee and desserts, and the selection is quite good. However, the café was extremely busy, which may explain the rushed atmosphere. Unfortunately, the staff came across as rude and unwelcoming, which took away from the experience. It’s an okay stop if you’re just looking for a quick coffee and dessert, but don’t expect warm service, especially during peak hours.

Cafe Katzung is a lovely café with a wide variety of breakfast options. It's also one of or the only cafe that opens at 8am. I visited on a Saturday morning and was pleased to find plenty of seats available, making it a comfortable experience. I ordered a café latte along with scrambled eggs with ham. The food was served quickly and was well prepared. The total bill came to 14.70 euros. While it was slightly on the expensive side, the quality and taste matched the price. Overall, it was a pleasant breakfast spot and a good place to start the day.

Great place!!! The service and atmosphere was amazing. We had Sachertorte and cafe latte. That's amazing cake.

The strudel was very good but we experienced very scandalous situation. Our friend was waiting for us, unfortunately we were late so she already ate her dessert and drank her coffee and went out to meet us outside. Then we entered inside. When the waiter came everyone ordered a dessert with coffee. The only person who didn’t order was our friend who has just finished her dessert and coffee. The waiter informed us that if she doesn’t order anything she has to leave us. We have never experienced such an impudent behaviour that one of us was forced to leave to group even though everyone else has ordered something especially that she has finished her coffee and dessert a while ago. What a shame

Rude and extremely ill-mannered blonde waitress. I ordered a Sacher cake and a “Prosecco APEROL” (said and written exactly as on the menu, i’ve ordered that the day before and i had no issue with that as you can see on the photo below) , expecting a classic SPRITZ or at least PROSECCO + APEROL. After a few minutes, the waitress came with my cake and a glass of prosecco. When I very politely pointed this out, she immediately blamed me, accusing me of having ordered incorrectly, saying (her exact words): “you only asked for a prosecco, you never mentioned Aperol.” I want to point out that I have worked as a waiter myself, so I know mistakes can happen, and at the same time I KNOW how one should behave with customers and vice versa. Her very rude, aggressive, and accusatory tone immediately rubbed me the wrong way. Accepting her accusation politely, I then asked if, to resolve the situation (even though I believe it shouldn’t have been up to me as the customer), it would be possible to simply add some Aperol to the prosecco. Her response was a blunt: “NO, I’M NOT CHANGING IT. I’VE ALREADY POURED IT. NOW YOU HAVE TO DRINK THIS.” I DON’T THINK THERE’S ANY NEED TO ADD MORE.

We visited this café today as a group of six and were asked to wait at standing tables since no seating was available. While some of us were in the restroom, the rest placed an order with a waitress. As soon as a table became free and we moved to sit down, another waitress approached us in an extremely aggressive and unprofessional manner, telling us to sit down to order and to “calm down,” despite the fact that there was no disturbance or inappropriate behavior from our side. When we explained that we had already ordered while waiting, she claimed that the order was invalid and that we were only allowed to order through her. We agreed to repeat the order if necessary. Moments later, the original order arrived, and she began shouting at her colleague for no reason whatsoever, in front of customers. The situation reached an unacceptable level when she turned to us and raised her voice, demanding that every single person order immediately or leave. The rest of our group fully intended to order as soon as they returned, but her behavior was so rude, hostile, and unprofessional that we chose to leave. She then brought the manager to force us out, even though we had already decided to leave because of her conduct. This was not a matter of waiting time or table availability, but of completely unacceptable customer service, poor internal communication, and a shocking lack of basic courtesy. Absolutely not recommended.

Decent cafe with tasty food, although i wouldn't say the food is extraordinarily delicious. Had the apple strudel with vanilla sauce, and smoked salmon on toast.

It's touristy because it's in the middle of tourist central but I still had a mostly pleasant experience. It wasn't busy even though it was late July. I didn't know this before I came but they are digging up the entire area, which makes for a very unpleasant experience when you sit outside at any of the tourist central restaurants and cafes. This isn't the cafe's fault but I sat inside to avoid the noise and the dust in my food. I tried the apple strudel with turmeric latte. There is no coffee in the latte. She successfully upsold me with vanilla sauce for the strudel which costs more than 1 EUR. It was still delicious. I appreciated that guests of the cafe have access to the restrooms upstairs, which look like they may be shared. The restrooms were clean and a convenient place to wash my hands.

Do not eat here. Take your money and go somewhere else. The service was RUDE and I ordered the cherry torte it sucked and the apple streusel was undercooked!! And the owner was being an ass! Go somewhere else!!

There's not much English speaking competitions in Innsbruck, but this doesn't make it an easy win for this one, as the 21st century kinda meant everyone will at least have an English menu or if not, Google translate! That said Katzung does stand out with the most welcoming entrance and a very lovely atmosphere. Large place and even though it's quite late at night, there's still lot of people with a cup of coffee or tea which gave it a decent vibe. We only ordered a cake and coffee so can't comment on the rest of the food, but there were a proper menu with a large variety; and our cake was really quite nice.

English spoken Simple with tasty tomato soup --, the potato soup was almost perfect! Best location near the Golden Roof Water is fresh Clean bathrooms

Don't be fooled. Absolutely horrific. Worst cakes I've ever put in my mouth. Zero flavor, extremely dry. Tried two things from there limited menu and both were absolutely horrible. Buy candy from a convenience store if nothing else is open.

Not much competition in Innsbruck, so this is your best bet for Sunday brunch.
