Lovely ambience. The service and atmosphere were great. The coffee was nice and reasonably priced. I had the eggs in a glass and they were cooked perfectly with runny centres. Look forward to returning to try the selection of cakes.

Nostalgia in its purest form. Unfortunately, the quality of the coffee does not match the ambiance at all. If you’re looking for a cozy spot which makes you feel like re-living a bygone era, this is the place to be. Café Wahlen has all the insignia of a traditional German coffee house. For this experience alone, the place deserves a five-star rating. Price/quality ratio is another thing, though. If you fancy a decent coffee, you won’t find it here. In the end, it comes down to balancing expectations and deciding on how much you are willing to compromise for the experience of time travel. Note: They only accept card payments for bills above 20 euros. In this sense very German as well.

Such a nice and cozy place, they even have some vegan options. Not every day, but und Special days of the week. The interior looks like a movie set. Great

An epic time travel to better times! ...back to an era when quality of both, food and service providing it was as it should be. Whether you need a place for a business meeting, a date or just a casual meet up with friends, this place has the ambience and calmness to make it a must have check point on your travel list. And don't get me started with the amazing cakes... just saying "Ratatouille effect"

The cafe has it's own charm. It feels like traveling back in time 100 years. The lunch menu was fine for 14 Euro. The staff is nice. If you are younger than 40, you will be the youngest person there.

Absolutely great selection of fine cakes in an authentic, 1950's ambiance. A great place where you can relax and enjoy a moment of nostalgia. Unfortunately, you can only pay cash. That is not acceptable in 2023.

love love love this tea room!! We went in the afternoon and it was full of older people. The atmosphere is definitely posh but also very warm and inviting. Our waitress didn't speak any English and we didn't speak any German but we were able to get by with pointing and hand gestures. She was this super cute older German lady and she was really nice to us. We got cappuccinos and two slices of cake. I don't remember the exact names but they were both really good and not overly sweet. Great way to relax in the afternoon! Note that this place is cash only. We didn't know that before we went but we were lucky to have cash on hand.

Plain wonderful - you dive into a different world of soft carpets, clinging cutlery and amazing cakes and tarts. Go on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon and you will find a wonderful blend of elderly ladies and less elderly gay guys all stuffing themselves with wonderful cream cakes - a peaceful place !!

Repeat everything the others have said. Amazing decor and atmosphere feeling very old and posh. Then see the smiley faces greeting you inside and after that enjoy one or two or maybe even three of the many amazingly inviting and delicious cakes on display.

Not only is the interior of this cafe absolutely outstanding, but all the delicious cakes and pies are to die for! I would recommend this cafe to anyone visiting Cologne, because not only is the quality top notch but it's also like going back in time. Absolutely delicious!
