Delightful atmosphere, friendly and accommodating servers both at the table and the counter, very quick service, good prices, and *EXTREMELY* child-friendly. That last quality was, for our group, most important. In addition to our ladies’ tea meet-ups, we’ve done our daughter‘s tea parties there on numerous occasions and they did a wonderful job of making all of the children feel like princesses - also accommodating our very specific requests (though it wasn’t super complicated). It will likely always be our family‘s favourite tea house.

Google
Yes the authentic black forest cake is amazing, creamy with rum yet still very light as well. Definitely a must try. Visited on a New Year's Day and they are open as usual. Service on point.

We ate two quiches, that were very tasty and well made. For dessert, Apfelstrudel with hot vanilla sauce and a slice of blackforest-cherry cake: both delicious! Be prepared to wait a lot to order, get the food and even the check. The place inside is a lot bigger than it seems, and very cozy.

Just took lots of photos. Quite the shop for yummy stuff. If we hadn't had a big lunch we could have had a snack or two or three here. Lots of customers in back enjoying coffee and such in afternoon. See photos.

I have visited the cafe three times so far, to taste their black forest cake. It is absolutely delicious. The cream melts in your mouth. The taste of the berries is distinctive. Pair it with your favourite hot drink ( I tried hot chocolate and tea on two different visits). We hope to be back to Cafe König someday. Thank you.

Google
lovely place. they served good black forest cake. take note that you need to look for an empty place to seat yourself as the waitresses were too busy. The staff is polite even though they are busy.

Google
Such a beautiful cafe and their Black Forest cake is to die for. Massive shoutout to Katherine who had been so attentive and lovely in serving us. You can easily spot her (she’s got a really cool hair)!

Lovely cafe, with an atmosphere of elegance of older times. The best thing ,of course, are the pastries. We tasted a different pastry every day, sometimes we picked up something for home as well...all excellent! The potato soup was also very tasteful. The staff was polite and helpful ,something I cannot tell for all the places in Black Forest, so it s definitely a plus!!

Yelp
I am from California, USA. My friend recently traveled to Germany in December and brought me a variety of holiday cookies as a gift, since I love European Cookie. The BEST German Gingerbread and holiday cookies !! I wish I had more Lebkuchen; they were my favorites.

Yelp
Loved the food and the decor here. The vegetable omelette was super good and fresh. My ginger tea was refreshing as well. The service was friendly and fairly quick.

Yelp
Heavenly Cappuccino and Scrumptious Black Forest Cake. Wonderful service. Letting the afternoon pass while sitting, sipping, nibbling, and, people-watching at their beautiful terrace! CHEERS!

Yelp
Excellent selection of fine and beautiful pastries in a charming environment. Highly Recommend!

Yelp
Unfortunately, the waiters are overworked and restaurant understaffed. There is no process for getting your pre-ordered but unpaid desserts and drinks. I had a chaotic 20 minute process of trying to flag a waiter or waitress who were intent on bee-lining to whatever they were doing, ignoring you, and disappearing. I failed to get anyone to pick up my order so I left. Not the best impression for any restaurant or cafe. There are many other restaurants and cafes throughout the nearby Black Forest and BW region that make excellent Black Forest cake and other German delectables. Some of them even make it using organic ingredients, sourced from local farmers. I had my fill at these places. Would recommend going someplace else and finding these gems instead of suffering through this place.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick snack and we ordered a slice of cake, almond croissant, hot chocolate, and a spinach quiche. They do not like non German speakers. I get it tourists are annoying, but you could be a little nicer considering your pastries don't even taste good. Definitely catering to the older clientele as everyone here was definitely over 60. We ordered a strawberry and raspberry cake and it was so dry. No flavor I've had better cakes from a super market. Hot chocolate ordered this after that amazing experience at Beluga Chocolatier. This was more the Swiss Miss variety. Was not even hot a travesty to the words hot chocolate. Almond Croissant was good. Lots of almond flavor with a sweet custard filling. This was the saving grace. Spanish Quiche was weird and wet. Definitely wouldn't recommend ordering that.

Yelp
Even without factoring in the crazy prices, just wasn't impressed - Pastries look mouth-watering, but are in fact, not that tasty at all. Tried twice - first time had a slice of the strawberry cake (the cake itself was too dry) and the second time had a slice of the much-lauded Black Forest cake (it was okay, but not spectacular) - Overall, just a meh and overpriced experience (both times).

Yelp
Going to the Black Forest to see some cuckoo clocks. Schwarzwald boarders Rhine Valley, Danube river runs through it. Okay enough geography. Really, the real reason for Black Forest is its cake, everybody's heard of Black Forest Cake, but have you had Black Forest cake in the very own Black Forest? Cafe Konig has a wonderful outdoor garten with huge canopy. It would have been great, except it rained in the middle of the afternoon and everyone had to be moved in. Inside it's a beautiful high tea like building, one find a huge hall with lovely seats and a bathroom that simply marked "H" and "D". No pictures no explanations. If you have American children, they may ask "which one is for girls which one is for boys?" Trying to get coffee and cake? Not a problem. That's what Germans do! Kaffee und Kuchen. Yummo! This reminds me of the coffee and cake time in Prague as well. Every where you go it seems, there is going to be time for coffee and cake. Life is pretty sweet when you can take off in the middle of an afternoon and have cake and coffee. There are many places to go at Baden Baden but this is one of the best spots in the town center for that Kaffee und Kuchen moment. Do tell stories of the mystical forest and people watch when enjoying your cake.

Yelp
Lovely place with a large range of choice: soup, classic dishes, salads... Don't miss dessert and the spectacular cakes you can choose from the showcase : they're very very tasty. Only regret: prices are eccentric on some items like mineral water or coffee... The staff is kind, pleasant and used to turists even if part of customers are locals.

Yelp
We absolutely loved this place! The price is on the higher side, and the servers look very harassed and are a bit rude, but apart from that it's a wonderful place for lunch. I had a great quiche and slice of black forest cake and have no complaints about the food. All of the pastries look delicious and the black forest cake did not let me down, it was light, fluffy, mildly alcoholic and very fresh. It was raining when we went, so we sat inside and it reminded me of being in a tea room in France. The outside patio looked great and would be stunning in the nicer weather.

Yelp
Actually opens at 9:30, not 8:30. Hubby loved the Black Forest cake. I preferred the meringue something or other that they said was similar to black foe with nuts. It also had chocolate shavings on top. They also have high tea available.parking is a pain though'

Yelp
It really is the best coffee house in Bade Baden! I love it and the setting is just beautiful. They have a wide variety of dishes and drinkes. Hot and cold. Sweat and salty. What ever you want. If you're vegetarian you will find something. I highly recommend it to you. It's a must if your visiting Baden Baden.

Yelp
This place lived up to the hype! The Black Forest cake was delicious, as was the simple dish of soft boiled eggs and bread with frothy milky coffee. We ate outside and enjoyed the lovely garden area and the view of one of the city's charming streets.

Yelp
The outdoor seating was great for a June afternoon. Good selection of Tea (about 8 or 9 for black tea alone), tried their Assam tea which was good with desserts. You can help yourself to the bakery to choose which desserts you want, it will be delivered to your table. We tried their Lemon tart which was good, chocolate mousse was ok. Some desserts contain alcohol (i.e. black forest cake), if you don't consume alcohol ask their staff, they're very helpful.

Jessica A.

Yelp
The most delicious pastries! The Black Forest cake is to die for. Super light and delicious!! Fruit tarts and chocolate mousse cakes are amazing as well! Service is ok but really you're just there for the cakes and tarts. Sitting outside is great with a nice breeze on a warm day.

Yelp
We went here twice in 3 days. The staff, the atmosphere, and the confections were wonderful. They have a large selection, so it was hard to choose. We had to sample real black forest cake while in the black forest. It was so light with layers of cream, cake, and liquour soaked cake with cheeries. The day before we had a cream puff and petite four. My cream puff was very light with a custard filling. The petite four was a little more dense and sweet. We also indulged in kaffee kirsch. I liked the kirsch more than my husband did. It is a nice place to take an afternoon break when there's a chill in air. The also have a comfortable area to sit and read the paper, watch people, or just chat.

Yelp
I came to Baden Baden for a little over an hour, and I was delighted that my tour guide suggested this cafe. I got a chocolate-passion fruit dessert that was absolutely delicious. The base of the tart was crispy and flavorful, but not too sweet. The chocolate mouse was rich with cacao flavor, and the passion fruit gel center balanced it out with fruity freshness. Not to mention, it was visually beautiful beyond words. I should have taken a picture, but I devoured it on the tour bus before I could remember to get my phone out of my pocket.

Yelp
Schwarzwälder Kirsch-Black Forest Cake is said to have been invented in the kitchen of this café which opened 250 years ago. it fronts the lawn between the baths and if you miss it, just follow the music of the accordionist in lederhosen or the aroma of coffee and freshly baked butterstreusel. the cake is delicious: tasting of the freshest cream & cherries, thick shavings of dark chocolate, very lightly sweetened and just the right touch of kirsch(cherry liqueur). another standout: Coupe Monsieur-mocha ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate flakes and rum-soaked prunes. Guten Appetit!

Yelp
Good place to hang out... One of the hit as well, spotted quite a number of locals. When in Black Forest, ones must try a Black Forest cake :) hihi... It was around 12.30 pm when we arrived and pretty busy, due to the nice weather, we opt to sit at the garden tables. Waitresses were pretty busy, so we have to wait for some time until we were served. Very nice table decoration and menu cards are so lovely and princessy (it is pink!). We ordered two cakes (3.90 each) and a portion of signature hot chocolate (6.90 euro).. Both cakes were very good but big disappointment on the hot chocolate, of course we were spoiled by Swiss chocolate. Nothing compares to that. . :-) grin... Anyway lovely cafe, worth to try some nice pastries. They have also good selection of lunch meals and pies. Probably if I ever drop by Baden-Baden, I would go for the afternoon tea here...

Yelp
Great place, old german or something feeling, had breakfast there was good, tea is very good, Has a bakery next to it, good cakes and bread Very nice place reminds me of the peninsula tea time, just not as fancy Lots of old people just chilling here Would recommend

Yelp
This is a cafe known for their Black Forest cake. Unfortunately, they were sold out of the cake the afternoon of our visit, so this review is issued with that caveat. The atmosphere is pleasant and what we ordered (green tea, scones and yogurt cake) was good if unremarkable. What warrants the low rating is rudeness of the staff and the complexity of the ordering system. If you want tea or coffee, you must first sit down at a table and order your drink. Upon ordering our tea, we attempted to order food and were brusquely informed that we must leave our table and wait in line at the adjacent counter to choose our food. So we did, and that's when we learned they were sold out of Black Forest cake. After we ordered our food (cakes/scones at a counter, nothing to be prepared), we were told we now had to return to our table without our cakes and the waitress would deliver them to us. Finally, as soon as the waitress dropped off our food, she asked us to pay right then as she was finishing her shift and didn't want to wait for us to finish our food/tea. Perhaps the rudeness/idiosyncratic atmosphere in this cafe would have been worth it had we arrived early enough to get a Black Forest cake. Nonetheless, we left very unimpressed.

Yelp
It took us nearly 30 mins to just make an order, they wouldn't even heat the bread when we asked, when they came to take our order, I stared at the menu for less than a minute the waitress left us hanging for 7 minutes more. The food really doesn't worth the wait, as the bread quality isn't that appealing. I noticed also that they serve Germans way better than tourists.

Ellie K.

Yelp
Went here twice. The first time I walked out as I waited in line to pay for 30 minutes was ignored and cut in line several times, was unsure if it was because I am American. Went back in attempts to just buy prepackaged macaroons. I spoke up and asked sternly if I could please pay, finally I was acknowledged paid and left. Macaroons we're OK, had good flavor but not worth waiting and being ignored for.

Yelp
a must come cafe when you are in baden baden the pastries all look delicious and of course i tried the must try black forest cake ..... yummy , soft and not too sweet oh one small tip if we are used to american cafes is that when you enter the cafe you dont have to wait to be seated so just go ahead and sit when you see a vacant table ..... service is quick and friendly

Yelp
Charming, old school tea room not to be missed!

Yelp
Step into history. The place is magnificent. I tried several items. The quiche Lorraine and the Mediterranean both outstanding. It is the first time I have had a classic Black Forest and it won't be the last. The chocolates are astounding. Florentines were a hit and I can't wait to return for more. I can't wait to return for my Butterkuchen. Delicious
