"Organic Coffee in a Tranquil Setting Cafe La Antigua has a pleasant courtyard and a choice of two indoor sitting areas. They serve organic coffee that is grown in the shade in the Pluma Hidalgo region of Oaxaca , and they roast and grind the coffee on the premises using solar energy. Besides great choices for coffee, the menu also includes sandwiches, salads and tapas, wine, mezcal and beer, including a local craft beer. They also host occasional live music performances. I wandered into Café La Antigua on a hot afternoon. A cold beer and mushroom tapas sounded appealing, and a large side of salad rounded out the dish perfectly. I asked the waitress for the Wi-Fi code, and I spent an enjoyable hour and a half catching up on social media as I enjoyed the soothing sounds of light jazz piped over the speakers."

Nice small breakfast café. I ordered a waffle with eggs and bacon, I thought it was weird that they stuck a leaf of lettuce between my waffle and egg, then placed cucumbers and carrots on top. Can’t believe they tried to sneak health into my diet 🤔. Lovely place though. 😁👍

one of the best breakfast I have had in Mexico. The food is prepared light and there are always lots of fruit option available. The organic cofee was great and service is impecable. Location is right in front a busy road but has nice decoration and atmosphere inside.

First time in Mexico & learned this is the land of amazing food. My airbnb host had a list of recommendations to try & this was on the list. We are so happy we came to this little cafe! The ambiance was amazing, a little hidden courtyard among a row of very colorful buildings. The smell of fresh delicious bread wafts you into the place, and I highly recommend trying pretty much everything on the menu lol. We tried the Jamon y Ricotta *twice it was so good* among a few other treats we took home. I don't think I spent over 20$ here and we left stuffed, definitely make this a stop!

I ordered eggs on waffle. The eggs were good, unfortunately the waffle was covered in vinegar, which ruined everything. Not sure why they don’t use limes like everywhere else. Also something went very wrong with my cappuccino. The service was nice and quick though.

Delicious Americano Mocha and Hot Chocolate. Both made with almond milk. Very friendly staff.

Good friendly service, clean, more like a deli that’s setup as a coffee place. Food was ok nothing special

The staff got the order wrong for our kids and were more than reluctant to change it. Irrespective of really poor communication on the part of the staff and what appeared to be the owner, we left to find somewhere for your kids to eat. They very 'kindly' removed their error from our bill. Highly unrecommomendable experience despite decent food.

I had the Mexican breakfast. It was a lot of food and it was good. For people saying the main server is rude, she does have a slight attitude, but I think she is doing her best. She delivers food promptly and is helping many different customers at once. I would definitely recommend this place for well priced breakfast and Wi-Fi.

Yelp
Tucked away on one of the many historic districts streets; 401 Calle Reforma to be exact is a very cozy and quiet cafe. You may find, as I did, Café La Antigua to be a gem of a cafe. The coffee is very good and they sell it whole bean or ground by the bag, which is a rare find in Oaxaca Centro. So far I've tried the iced cappuccino the café moka con chocolaté. During my stay in Oaxaca Centro Café La Antigua has become my go to coffee shop. The postres, the Mexican chocolaté brownie is delicious and moist! More importantly it's not overly sweet!I've also had the two meat ( pierna hogado and serrano ham) baguette with salad! Amazingly good. The waitress is, as always friendly and helpful. And she makes the best coffee that I've had in Oaxaca Centro! When I return in a fee months I look forward to coming back here. Still 5 Solid

Yelp
This review is based mostly on the ambiance since I can only really speak for the coffee itself. I haven't had anything else from here except an Americano and a bag of coffee to go. The place is really charming ... I can't think of any other way to describe it. Between the sign out front, the old coffee grinder in the courtyard and really pleasant staff, this has to be one of the best coffee shops in downtown Oaxaca. And given the name (la Antigua), perhaps one of the oldest.

Yelp
Café Antigua gets my vote for the best breakfast in Oaxaca. The week I was there I went three times with the last time watching the wonderful Susana prepare breakfast for a room full of people by herself, as her two other employees weren't there that day. The food is incredibly good, especially the scrambled eggs with bacon, refried beans, and delicious, pickled jalapeños. And the coffee, best!

Yelp
Terrible service. Bad coffee and very bad food. I asked if there was a plug and the staff was so rude. And I have never had papaya so badly cut and bad tasting before. Very strange given Oaxaca is the food capital.

Yelp
Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day in Mexico. The huevos a la Mexicana was so good but the traditional Oaxacan chocolate drink and fresh orange juice were sad reminders that I couldn't stay here forever.

Yelp
Excellent for breakfast. Full espresso/cappuccino bar, pastries and freshly made fruit juices served in colored-glass mason jars. Hearty breakfast/egg selections to carry you through the day. Attentive-responsive service makes it good for quick meals or staying for a while. All nestled in a charming open and clean Oaxacan-contemporary courtyard. Insiders tip for the more adventurous. Peruse the Bebidas Especiales section of the breakfast menu for coffee drinks you won't typically see on your morning Starbucks run. Drinks like the Frapucino Santios, the Irelandés containing whiskey, Mirada de Mujer which is espresso, chocolate and mezcal...good morning!

Yelp
Recently my husband & I had the opportunity to have breakfast here, my husband had some blood tests done and we were looking for a nice place to have a good coffee & breakfast. I guess we found our favorite spot downtown. The breakfast was awesome, and the juices OMG, freshly squeezed and perfect combination of fruits. My husband still talks about the hot salsas they serve you, and the coffee? One of the best coffee I've had in Oaxaca. It's not cheap but totally worth every cent. The service is a bit slow, but in the meantime you can enjoy a good cup of coffee.

Yelp
I really liked this place. Chill vibe, lovely courtyard, good wifi, delicious coffee and dessert and they serve wine! This was my favorite coffee shop I found on this trip.
