Great food and service. Lobster pasta was awesome and my kids liked it most. Best place to celebrate birthdays of your friends or relatives. Great ambience with a bird view of Tokyo city. Alaska ice cream was cherry on the cake as it gave a new experience of burning the cake using alcohol flames while serving. Highly recommended for parties or family functions in the heart of Shibuya.

Had called up the place before going, got to know that bookings were full for Sunday night but they still told we can be accommodated if we wouldn't mind waiting for some time. It was on the occasion of my daughter's birthday and we decided to take a chance as she wanted to go here..Turned out to be a good decision that we went and waited! They offered to seat us in a larger table on shared basis but we decided to wait for a private table. About 30 mins after we reached they seated us in a comfy semicircle sofa table. A nice view of Shibuya night skyline, the food with multiple vegetarian options, relaxed atmosphere with good music and the fact that it's open till very late made it all the more enjoyable. In appetizers the spicy fries were crispy and seasoned perfectly. Gnocchi with truffle sauce was amazing, we got sourdough bread to go with it and made good use of the sauce as well. In the main course 1. The tomato and basil spaghetti with burrata had excellent balance of flavors and nice chewy pasta 2. Parmesan risotto with truffles was heavenly 3. Truffle pizza was nice though with a slight sweetness that was unexpected. We got decent portion sizes for all appetizers and mains. We had wanted to get their signature baked Alaska for dessert to celebrate but turned out that it's in limited quantity and was sold out for the night. We were given an option of a dessert plate with a custom message instead, with a prep time of 30 mins. We got it and it was very nicely made!! All in all a very nice experience and my kid enjoyed the whole spread. Was a memorable evening for us, thanks to Legato!!

I came for lunch on a dreary Saturday. It was not so busy, maybe half full. While I was there, I'd say about half of the patrons had a reservation and the other half were walk-ins like me. Everyone came in a group; the other solo person was meeting up with someone who was already there. If you want nice views, I suggest making a reservation ahead of time. Not sure if it's because I was underdressed or what but I was immediately placed at the bar seat. Most other patrons were given the tables in the center and couples got the window seats. Take a group of friends here; don't come here for solo dining. Service was quick although I didn't get approached again after my meal arrived. This is a proper restaurant so you need to ask for the bill when you're done. They have a portable POS machine for card payments. The food was actually very good but the prices of everything on the menu reflects the location rather than the food quality itself. Also, go to a proper cafe for coffee.

Great Venue for Office Parties with Friendly Staff and Delicious Food I organized an office party here, and what stood out the most was the excellent support from the staff. I had several changes to the set menu, especially to accommodate 2-3 vegetarian guests, and the manager was incredibly friendly and helpful in creating the perfect menu within my budget. As for the food, it was excellent. The burst pasta was the highlight—everyone loved it! The truffle gnocchi was also a big hit. While the vegetarian options were a bit limited, those guests still enjoyed the meal overall. They also served special drinks for the “kanpai” toast, and the drinks were unlimited, which added to the festive atmosphere. Overall, a great experience for group events.

Awesome gorgeous restaurant in Tokyo! This place is elegant and luxurious but you know what? The price of the food is very reasonable. Food tastes very good as well. And if you are lucky, you will see the Fuji Mountain view in this restaurant. Ice cream on the fire is only available in the evening. So sadly, we couldn't have it. However, we could catch the view of Fuji Mountain on the sunny and clear day. Recommend to book early, and also, try the four cheese pizza.

Wow! Very impressive service and absolutely delicious food. We were a party of six and they were able to accommodate to our needs right on the spot. Definitely recommend and will come back!

I’ve been here a number of times for different occasions. The only time I’ve eaten here was for a wedding reception years ago, and I remember enjoying it, but can’t really comment it on it currently. What I like about this place the most is the bar. It’s a cool vibe with lots of drink options and you can order food as well. It’s a great date spot with good views, so definitely worth checking out. Service is friendly and staff very accommodating.

We had a great experience at Cafe Legato from start to finish. The food was lovely and made with care. The service was equally impressive: attentive and very friendly. The vibe in the restaurant really added to the evening with good music playing and an enthusiastic, welcoming team A big thanks to Jan and his team for making it a memorable night. We’ll definitely be back!

Yelp
It was my first time in Tokyo and I saw that this place had good reviews. Upon entry the restaurant it self was very beautiful. My partner and I decided to share the share course option. Once the meal arrived, the waitress was not knowledgeable about what each item was and didn't know the name of the courses. The pasta was really undercooked very fishy and salty. I let the waitress know of my concerns no accommodation was made. The main course arrived and it was very underwhelming. Grilled chicken and diced tomato thrown on top along with French fries. I was really excited to have the burning cake but to my surprise the waitress told me the chef had gone for the night. Very very sad and disappointed on j my special day. The waitress basically came over and had a it is what it is attitude. Looking to leave happy on your special day this won't be the place.

Yelp
My image of Shibuya is "full of young people and tourists", "nothing but franchise Izakayas", "super crowded", "overpriced", it's got all elements that make me want to avoid. But this place turned out to be one of rare places in Shibuya that makes want to come back. It's on top of Dogenzaka slope, west from JR Shibuya station. It was approximately 10min walk. But you'll walk by many stores on the way, it won't make you feel that the walk is that long. It is located on 15th floor. There are dining area and bar area. Bar area is furnished with leather chairs and couches. Very swanky. Being on top of the slope and being that higher ground, it gives quite a view of Shibuya. It's a great place for date night. I didn't get any food but drink this night. Drink menu wasn't so big. Very simple. Probably 10 kinds of cocktail, 5 on tap, 5 in bottle, and other assorted hard liquors like whiskey, Gin, Rum, etc. I started with Goose IPA(bottle) which wasn't so bitter as I expected. My friend ordered from tap but glass was so tiny! It must be half pint.(¥850) Although I wasn't planning to drink any hard liquor, I was lured by the scent of the whiskey my friend was having. Shame that I didn't take a note on its name, but the scent was so good that I had to order one. It was quite aromatic and tasted very rich and deep. I wouldn't say it was "after taste" but "resonating". Services were pretty prompt and thoughtful. Demographic is quite young but not too young to feel out of place. I'd definitely keep this place as one of "go-to"s of Shibuya.

Yelp
starting with appetizer set A: salad, bread, drink (free refill). salad lightly dressed, they provide a dropper of olive oil for the table which helps to elevated the salad which i felt was lacking something. - clam and mushroom japanese sauce pasta. portion sizes were filling and not too small coming from what im used to seeing in America. we've had some very small dishes and there was nothing unsatisfying about the size of this dish. plenty of mushrooms/clams for each bite. the sauce itself has a slightly salty fishy salty taste that pairs well with the pasta noodles, keeping it moist enough for the dish to not feel dry and not too salty. adding the olive oil to the pasta also helped. overall pretty satisfied! - service was great! as americans visiting, the first waiter didn't speak english and we didn't speak japanese, but she brought another waiter who made sure all of our needs were met. food came very quickly and when a drink was spilled, the employees cleaned up our table right away and replenished any food or drinks that were spilled. - the best part was the view from the 15th floor overlooking the tokyo skyline. we came here for lunch and i can only imagine the view from this place must be breathtaking at night!

Yelp
Summary before my actual notes: Cafe Legato has the capability of being a high-end, top-tier restaurant. They know their clientele, though, and are catering to them. However, even if a business wants to attract a younger, less uptight crowd, service can never be the detriment. Birthday celebrations, DJ's with announcements and staff that ring bells are fine and all, but service has room to improve. Service at bar offered. Seat was prepared. Ambiance is chic yet still old-school Italian low light. 15th floor view is definitely part of the attraction. Clientele is overall young. Music is louder than background, some patrons refer to it as great dj music. Service is painfully green, raw, and young. Pricing is rather fair. Open kitchen is always an interesting touch, although not new. The restaurant combines youthfulness and effervescence with above average tasting food  and a locale with a respected, known environment from an older time. Service is slow. Close to nonexistent Extremely poor situational awareness from staff. Total time to initial service: 24 minutes. Unsatisfactory. Food service time is average across the board. Order Homemade Moscow Mule [  ]    Citrus to the smell [  ] Impressive ginger Ale [  ] Light on the vodka Avocado Caprese [  ] Small portion for 1800 yen [  ] Fine vinegrette [  ] Not enough from the avocado and strawberries were different [  ] Saved by the mozzarella though Black Pepper Italian Sausage [  ] Well presented [  ] Good moisture and cook. Taste is accurate with name. [  ] Sauce is VERY Tart with a surprising tang. Carbonara [  ] Sauce is made properly. Egg is mixed correctly. [  ] Well priced with portion and taste. [  ] Great color. Risotto with Iberico Bacon, Maximum Egg, and Truffle [  ] Very good consistency [  ] Truffle coming out in good proportion [  ] Egg added to it, but it was already doing well before it. Grilled Fruits Brandy Highball [  ] Refreshing [  ] Tart with the fruit. Not too much highball bite. Manhattan [  ] Below Average [  ] Took over 15 minutes. Ordered Canadian Club. Not given. Legato Tarte Tatin [  ] Desert well done. [  ] Encompasses the different sweet sides of the tarte.

Yelp
Cool restaurant with a view at the top of Shibuya, the staff was friendly and accommodated a friend's birthday last minute. The food was also pretty good and while more on the expensive side, it was reasonable for a restaurant with a view. Made a reservation here via opentable, I would recommend calling or booking a table ahead of time if you want a table with a view. They also have a full bar and bar seating for those who would prefer a less formal setting.
